This is probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.
CitizenM started off on a great foot upon check-in, where we met with a very pleasant young man who chatted us up and helped us with our questions and concerns. The room is spacious and modern - fun and quirky, and not a cookie-cutter boring hotel room. The location is perfect, just a 3 minute walk to the Gare de Lyon train station.
In-room amenities included:
- Mini fridge (with free Evian waters!)
- Shampoos and body wash (in large refillable containers, rather than wasting plastic on the travel size one-use bottles)
- BOOKS, movies, climate control, light control, streaming from your phone to tv, workout/yoga videos, remote-controlled blinds (and blackout blinds), among other things.
- US outlets in room
The bed was huge and the room was full of light. I felt refreshed upon walking in, rather than feeling depressed the way you sometimes do upon walking into a dark cookie-cutter room.
The $15 breakfast is SO worth it - they had traditional amazing French stuff (natural yogurt, croissants, cheese, meats, baguettes), but also had options for those who prefer American style (eggs, bagon, cereal). There were three different types of muesli (amaaaazing), and for those with dietary restrictions, they offered gluten-free bread and soy milk.
We also ate dinner at the hotel one night when we were too exhausted to go out. The large cheese plate was HUGE - we took half of the cheese back up to the room and put it in our mini fridge for a snack the next day. My lamb was amazing. The coq au vin was bland and boring, unfortunately.
Everyone on staff was extra friendly. They held onto our luggage upon check-out since our flight wasn't until the evening, and the hotel lobby was a great place to hang for a bit when we needed a little down time. A great stay - I'd highly recommend this hotel!
