Deeply disappointing experience -- hoping management will make this right. The most troubling part of my experience with this hotel was the complete lack of customer care. When my flight was delayed and I missed check-in, I called immediately to explain the situation. I was only about an hour outside the modification window, and the hotel still had rooms available, yet staff refused to offer any flexibility, assistance, or understanding. There was no empathy or effort to help -- they only cared about keeping the payment rather than the guest experience. Their indifference to my situation was truly astounding. As for the room itself, it was much smaller than the photos suggest and far below expectations. The sink was located outside the bathroom, and the shower had no mat or anti-slip surface -- I nearly fell. There was also noticeable noise from the hallway and the street, which made it hard to relax. While the location is well connected by transit, it’s in an area that feels unsafe to walk around at night. Overall a poor value and experience. I genuinely expected more from citizenM. I hope management will review this feedback seriously and offer a fair resolution, ideally a refund for the night I couldn’t use due to circumstances beyond my control.

During my recent trip to Paris, I had the pleasure of staying at the CitizenM Hotel near Gare de Lyon, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The rooms were modern, spacious, and incredibly comfortable with a large king-size bed and smart technology that allowed me to control the lighting, temperature, and even the curtains right from an iPad. The design was sleek and stylish, making my stay feel both luxurious and cozy. What stood out most was the warm and friendly service from the staff, who were always ready to help with recommendations and made the check-in process smooth and hassle-free. I also loved spending time in the communal lounges and enjoying a refreshing drink at the rooftop bar with stunning city views. The location was perfect—close to major attractions and convenient transport links. I highly recommend CitizenM for anyone looking for a trendy, comfortable, and well-located hotel experience in Paris.

Google
Loved my time at Citizen M near Gare de Lyon. Conveniently located. Comfortable, roomy and incredibly cool space (both in the room and the common spaces). Helpful staff and easy check in. I expected the room to be small but I found it incredibly comfortable and larger than expected. Had a nice workspace with multiple sockets including one for US electronics, eliminating a need for a converter. Would definately stay again next time I need to be in Paris

Google
The good: Affordable, great location, easy check-in / checkout process, excellent (but expensive) breakfast, comfortable bed, friendly staff, no language barrier issues for English. The meh: The elevators were finicky, and the food we ordered for dinner one night was not good.

Google
Perfect place to stay while in Paris. Great service, affordable and accessible to many of the train lines either by Austerlitz or Gare de Lyon. Breakfast is great and I recommend it since it takes the stress off of finding a place for breakfast and you can focus on planning your excursions. Functional room. If you plan to sleep there and be out a lot during the day I recommend it.

Google
This hotel is next to Gare de Lyon. But in the evening you cant get there through the shopping Gamma so it is confusing to walk around with the luggage. The room is super compact and cold even of you try to adjust the temperature. Breakfast is ok but shouldn't cost 19 euros. All in all I would rate it as a 3 star hotel as it doesnt have basic amenities of a 4 star hotel.

Google
Best part is ofcourse the cool and cozy bed, customer service which is better than anywhere else and the space utilization. Talking about the space utilization- it had everything you would look for in a hotel room in a compact affordable package. And that's a great deal. Because it becomes affordable too then. The limitation is also the limited space. I couldn't do my morning yoga. And the amenities could have been a bit more- like coffee maker, lights and storage areas. The top floor bar is not more than a viewing gallery. I wouldn't go there again. And the room did not have good views too. I will definitely go and stay again here

Google
A delightful hotel with fantastic decor and very friendly staff. Almost 5 stars but a non-slip mat in the shower would be a good idea. Excellent breakfast and very comfortable bed. Great location. Would stay again.

Yelp
A very nice chic hotel. All of the rooms are the same size and design so you know what you are getting! The view from the bar at the top is just WOW! My Tour Eiffel was sparkling and saying hi! Grab a glass of wine and soak in all of the view! The breakfast is a bit confusing, as if you are only ordering a coffee, you have to stand and hope your drink comes up (no names are fiven for your order). Walkable to two different train stations, which was very convenient. Also many food and bar options a block away!

Yelp
This is the first citizenM hotel I have ever stayed in, and I am a fan. The rooms are extremely small, but well-appointed- perfect for a business trip or a vacation where you don't intend to spend too much time hanging around in your hotel room. The bed, which is large and takes up like half the room, was extremely comfortable. The staff is great, and the lounge, cafe, and bar areas are fun. I love the unique decor. I had one meal in the cafe- I think the best way to describe it is to say that it was not great compared to other food I've had in Paris, but was very good compared to other food I've had in hotels. The espresso drinks, though, seem to be among the better in the neighborhood. The one downside was noise- not from the street outside but from inside. I wanted to sleep in one day, but there are so many loud sounds from doors opening and closing, people walking upstairs, etc., that I could not. Not the best construction I guess.

Yelp
CitizenM was recommended by a bunch of Parisians we knew. It's a bit tiny compared to other hotels you're used to. I stayed here for 5 nights. They don't clean your room every day. They only clean on the 3rd night of your stay. Their breakfast was pretty decent. They serve many pastries and different kinds of croissants. Their coffee is pretty good. This is definitely good for traveling because you're barely in the room anyway. It's near the metro and train station.

Yelp
Update: they do a nice refresh service for the room once a week at your choice. There's no fitness room. There is a laundry service, but a week of clothes for 2, cold wash n dry n fold. $ Per piece. Around 100 eu. But same day. I ve done it, just not here this time. The ground floor restaurant runs out of all meat dishes early. Just pasta and vegetables left. Ok but not twice. Very safe area and easy to come back to by landmarks. Food and drink close , but not nearby. This is a good stay. We may extend a couple days. We ll see. Update: We need more of Paris. We going to ask to extend our stay 3 extra days. And I want to stay in my room I have now. We ll ask in a hour ..

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! I love all of the technology in the room. You can change any light in the room, adjust the light colors in the shower, along with control everything in the room from an iPad, even open the curtains from the iPad . Love, love, love it! I will be returning to Paris soon and plan to stay there again.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this hotel. It was modern clean and very convenient but the best part honestly was the staff. They were friendly helpful and charming. We will absolutely stay there again next time we're in Paris. Thank

Yelp
If you pay attention to my reviews then you know how much I love CitizenM. I first stayed with them a few years back in Glasgow and since they have been my go-to hotel if available. They have a few locations around the world and are growing fast. Modern, luxury accommodations on a budget. The smart rooms are amazing. Mood lighting for the room and shower. Fantastic bar and restaurant, comfortable common areas for relaxing and hanging out. Interior design-A+. Staff A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!

Yelp
This is probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. CitizenM started off on a great foot upon check-in, where we met with a very pleasant young man who chatted us up and helped us with our questions and concerns. The room is spacious and modern - fun and quirky, and not a cookie-cutter boring hotel room. The location is perfect, just a 3 minute walk to the Gare de Lyon train station. In-room amenities included: - Mini fridge (with free Evian waters!) - Shampoos and body wash (in large refillable containers, rather than wasting plastic on the travel size one-use bottles) - BOOKS, movies, climate control, light control, streaming from your phone to tv, workout/yoga videos, remote-controlled blinds (and blackout blinds), among other things. - US outlets in room The bed was huge and the room was full of light. I felt refreshed upon walking in, rather than feeling depressed the way you sometimes do upon walking into a dark cookie-cutter room. The $15 breakfast is SO worth it - they had traditional amazing French stuff (natural yogurt, croissants, cheese, meats, baguettes), but also had options for those who prefer American style (eggs, bagon, cereal). There were three different types of muesli (amaaaazing), and for those with dietary restrictions, they offered gluten-free bread and soy milk. We also ate dinner at the hotel one night when we were too exhausted to go out. The large cheese plate was HUGE - we took half of the cheese back up to the room and put it in our mini fridge for a snack the next day. My lamb was amazing. The coq au vin was bland and boring, unfortunately. Everyone on staff was extra friendly. They held onto our luggage upon check-out since our flight wasn't until the evening, and the hotel lobby was a great place to hang for a bit when we needed a little down time. A great stay - I'd highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
When they say compact, they really mean it. It's a good size for two average-sized people-- Any more than that, you'll probably need to get a second room (Protip: Parents, get one room per parent and split the kids between the rooms!). My favorite thing about this hotel was the fact that the room was completely controlled through the room's iPad and everything was super easy to understand (yes, mine was in English). The staff is INCREDIBLE and super kind-- Don't listen to what people say about French stereotypes, these folks are genuinely nice and go out of their way to help you out with whatever you need. We stayed for 3 nights and had friends who stayed at various other locations for the same duration, and this was hands-down the best hotel anyone had ever visited. They have a cocktail bar open at night too for when you adults want to sneak away and grab a nightcap. The location is right next to the Gare de Lyon station, meaning that if you want to go to Disneyland, you just take a quick 2-minute walk down to the station, purchase your tickets to the station next to Disney (yes, you can opt for an English menu), and hop on the train! It's so simple, I can't even explain the amount of stress I DIDN'T feel during this trip. There are plenty of restaurants, bakeries, bars, and pharmacies nearby too for any and all of your needs. There's also a breakfast buffet option if you're looking for that, but as stated earlier, the number of bakeries surrounding this joint is *chefs kiss*, so you may not even need it. If you do decide to go to canteen area, you definitely can purchase items separately, so you never feel like you're missing out (thank God, because I don't know what I'd do without my morning double cappuccino, lol). Don't miss out on staying at this super hip hotel!

Yelp
No air conditioning. No fans distributed. When we complained to front desk they did not admit this fact. They tried to teach us how to turn the ac down in the room. Refund is in order!

Yelp
Iconic views towards the Eiffel Tower from the room. The views from the cloudm bar are the same Any staff I dealt with were v nice. I do love the hotel brand. The bed is so comfy. The pillows are fluffier than poodles :) You can use the iPad to set the colour of the mood lighting, the temperature and the lights. It also controls the TV. Great shower. There's complimentary Evian in the fridge. They had UK and American sockets too. It's a bit out of the city but it is only a couple of minutes walk from Gare de Lyon and about 10 minutes walk from Gare l'Austerlitz.

Yelp
Ok maybe I'm spoiled by wonderful large amazing hotels in United States of America and other counties I have been to, but this hotel sucks baddddd!! maybe it's good for parisians, but for travelers, we def needed more amenities. They are super stingy with amenities... hello... u r a hotel, u should try ur best to accommodate your guests- they didn't even have slippers when asked and when asked for qtips, they only give two little packages per time- ummm hey, we be here next five days so why don't u give little more than that por favor so we don't come down everyday?!!!!! Also they don't have people bring you the amenities.... u have to go down to lobby to pick up ur needs...oh lawd- I'm already tired from all the walking exploring the city and making the city rich with all my spendings but here they are so unaccomodating- I got super excited when I checked in here with it's cool designs and the looks. But if I ever come back to Paris again, I rather spend more money and go better hotel- it's already exhausting walking and touring the city all day and here comes the sucky hotel which is super narrow and not comfortable- Not recommending for sure

Yelp
Staff were a delight. Arrived early and got a room. Room on night floor with city view. This is our 3rd Citizen M and the best. Location means you need to use the train which is 5 min away. The bar was also excellent with a super view. We got a great rate and it was a no brainer.
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
I really really wish I could give this place a positive review because Paris was amazing and the staff were so nice but we had to move rooms 3 times because the door knobs kept breaking and we were approved for a late checkout of 6 PM because our train didn't leave until 7:30 but we got a call at 4 PM saying they needed us to leave ASAP because they were at 100% occupancy and need to flip the room. Wanted to love it, but couldn't.

Yelp
Great place to stay in the center of Paris. Super hi-tech, control everything from an iPad. Very funky furniture in the common rooms, youth-centric decor and friendly staff. Only negative are the microscopic bathrooms. Other than that was impressed, we even had views of the Eiffel from our window. Not bad for less than 100$ a night.

Yelp
What an awesome spot! Very modern accommodations and friendly staff members who went out of the way to make sure I was comfortable and felt at ease in their hotel. I paid the 14.95 per day for breakfast but it was worth it because I ate croissant and cheese until I almost kelled over! The Citizen M is about a five-minute walk to the Gare de Lyon train station and it is also in close proximity to very amazing authentic French restaurants. The famous Paris attractions are all about a 15-20 minute cab ride away as well. This hotel is an AMAZING value and I highly recommend staying there!

Yelp
See my review of Citizen M Tower of London if you want an in-depth review of Citizen M--I'm just going to highlight some of the thing's I liked and disliked about this particular Citizen M. Coming from the Tower of London location, I had really high expectations of this hotel. Like it sister hotel in London, the decor/cleanliness/attitude of staff/tech savy integration is all top notch here. The big thing that was an immediate turn off for me and as I stayed here longer, was the location itself of Gare De Lyon. The area is kinda of sketchy at night and kind of dirty. It almost felt like this nice hotel didn't belong in the area; however, there is on-going construction next door (it looks like apartments or maybe a giant hotel), and once it's done, I'm sure the area will be less sketchy. That was pretty much the only negative thing that I could really say about this hotel was the location. I mean, you are super close to the Gare De Lyon Metro station (5-10 minute walk) and a few other stations if you are inclined to walk further. So in terms of transportation, I'd say minus the surrounding area itself, this hotel is good spot to settle at if you intend to do all of the touristy stuff (maybe expect Versailles because its pretty far from here). However, in terms of food and cafes, there is nothing crazy good in this location--a bunch of chain cafes and typical restaurants but nothing a tourist would venture to the area for. The only other minor annoyances of this hotel was the shower head filter definitely needed to be changed as the water pressure was pretty weak when showering; one needs to shoulder to the door when opening (you literally have to use force; the Ambassador who helped us during check-in said the doors here can be tricky like that); and they give you baby water bottles here (the one in London gives you free two 500 mL bottles every day). A water refill station here or at any Citizen M would be great and would definitely help. No separate barista like the one in London, but I'm sure the bartenders here could make you coffee as the bartenders in London could as well. The pre-made food here, like the London, location is very good. Cheap baguette/sandwiches for like 4-5 euros and you're next door to a "Paul"--chain cafe with coffee/pastries/sandwiches. Overall, If I had to go back to Paris, I would definitely stay at this location or the location near the airport. It is about 20 minutes (30-40 minutes with traffic) away from the Gare Du Nord station if you are coming in from the Eurostar.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite hotel in Paris. It's clean, modern, and their staff are all extremely genuine and friendly. We were only supposed to stay for half a week but ended up extending our stay an additional week. It's walkable to all the good shopping districts and restaurants. There's plenty of seating in the lobby, so those of you who travel for work should be able to find a nice little work station. They have an excellent bar as well as a good assortment of delicious snacks just incase you get the munchies. Aside from the decor, and cleanliness, their staff is where they shine. Staying there for over a week I got to know some of the staff and even became friends with a couple. Everyone is very polite, and will go out of their way to make your stay as wonderful as they can. I highly recommend this hotel!
google avatar

Ana C.

Yelp
Absolutely the most wonderful staff!!! It's a great location. The neighborhood is a little seedy at night so it's good to travel in groups. The room was very clean and high-tech.
google avatar

Candice R.

Yelp
I truly loved this hotel, the customer service here was top notch. The rooftop bar has a view of the Eiffel tower and the drink menu is fantastic. Yes the rooms are small but the amenities are pretty cool my favorite one was the free movies, yoga, extra pillows, wake up calls on the I pad, and the moonlighting to name a few. This hotel is also centrally located to transportation, and good food. The breakfast was also pretty good, the hotel definitely makes you feel at home. I highly recommend you give this hotel a try.

Yelp
This isn't the best Citizenm I've stayed at. I've stayed at Glasgow, London (all three), Amsterdam, and now here in Paris. The bars and kitchen were usually empty/not many options, the breakfast was my least favorite of all of the locations. Runny eggs and floppy white bacon, but that's cultural. The hotel is in an ok location, a bit in the outskirts but just 15 minute walk to Norte Dame! The reason I always keep coming back to this hotel and always will (besides the guarantee of an amazingly fluffy bed, great price points, and handsome hotel guests) are the people and staff. This time my favorites included Karine and Allison, who were beyond incredible! I always travel alone and the people at this hotel always make me feel so well cared for, it's priceless. Thank you so much ladies! Excited to go back to the citizenm Tower of London next month! Xxx Sheena

Yelp
This place is garbahge. The room the size of a closet. The check in is difficult and they claimed they had a duplicate reservation for us, which they could not prove. The amenities are ok. But, the hotel is a in a terrible area with nothing good nearby except hookers and homeless people. It is like being in a bus station. Horrible.

Yelp
My favorite design hotel with its black tech, stayed in CDG once, this time is at gare lyon。Blingbling everywhere...
google avatar

Pet D.

Yelp
Ok for a single person. The concept is very interesting. The common spaces are nice, well designed, hip. The rooms are very tight and for the price and location (next to Gare Lyon), in a kind of run down neighborhood, wasn't what I would consider equal. The rooms are tight, when you walk in there's a small alcove with hangers, a sink and vanity, and frosted glass enclosed toilet and shower. The bed is enclosed on 3 sides and has access only on one. If there are 2 people then one has to crawl over the other to get out. The mattress is hard. My issue is that there's no privacy for the toilet. The enclosure is glass. The other person hears every sound.... If you're a long married couple maybe this works for you, but this isn't an "oldster" kinda place. I'd stay elsewhere next time.

Yelp
I have been travelling to paris number of times over the period of lst couple of years, but never came across such clean contemporary hotel, specially in paris area. Highly recommended. Probably need add more facilities like iron board and a coffee machine ? Happy with the cleanliness.

Yelp
Best new hotel in Paris! Gotta check out this design forward hotel. Rooftop bar is top notch as well. If you're looking for a high-design and upscale hotel at a reasonable price, citizenM is hard to beat.

David S.

Yelp
The staff are nice but the room is extremely small. The bathroom isn't big enough to have a sink in it so it is just a shower then right outside of it is a toilet. The bed is pushed against each wall and is not that big. There are also kinda weird paintings and really big bright colors in the lobby. Also there are not a lot of windows and it kinda makes you feel under ground. I was scheduled to stay here for 3 nights but immediatley a few minutes after l got there l booked a new hotel, then in the morning l left.

Cathy N.

Yelp
This hotel has such a nice vibe and the people working at reception were extremely nice! I was completely wowed when I walked into my room because it is so modern and amazing! The bed was magnificent and i would've stayed in it the whole time if I wasn't already in love with Paris!

Ceara S.

Yelp
We stayed here and the rooms were fine. However, we left a personal item in the room. No fault but our own but when we called the hotel minutes after we left, they said they would have the hotel staff grab it so we could get it back. We called back the following day and now they "can't locate it" even though it was right on the desk in plain sight. Then the woman proceeded to tell me that most likely it was thrown away. Her story changed over a course of 5 minutes. Just a word of advice for anyone staying here, make sure to take EVERYTHING before leaving. If you don't, most likely you will never see it again, especially if it's valuable. Very rude and dishonest staff.

Ell K.

Yelp
This hotel is fine for a business purpose for one night. The location is terrible with nothing around it but the train station. It felt unsafe and dirty in the surrounding areas. The food in the hotel is mediocre at best. The room is clean, the bathroom ridiculously small. The only plus was the options of outlets from different countries. If traveling for pleasure to see typical tourist spots, this is not the place to stay. You would spend the entire time on metros. This hotel is trying to be Techy but in reality it's just cheap and in a weird location.

Robin R.

Yelp
I would give this hotel 5 stars, except there was no hot water for a day during our stay (management comp'ed our breakfasts for the inconvenience). I love the decor, practical design, and amenities of this hotel. The self check-in is a breeze and room is smallish, but fun. We will be back!

Yelp
I discovered this hotel when planning my Christmas vacation and, although I traditionally prefer to stay at boutique hotels I decided to give it a shot. The hotel is hip and the decor is nice. It's a large property; more than 15 floors with a rooftop bar, dining hall/bar and various meeting spaces and doesn't sell itself on amenities or being very plush. It lacks for nothing and provides a warm and friendly place to call home while visiting the city. The staff is friendly and speaks a variety of languages and can . As others have mentioned, the biggest and key selling point to this hotel is the LOCATION. With either Gare de Lyon station less than five minutes away you can't go wrong getting to all the key sites and even the areas off the tourist map. This location allowed me to experience Paris like a local and I loved every second. I wasn't familiar with the Citizen M brand and am very happy to have discovered it during my recent stay. Cheers to adding a great property to the amazing city of Paris.
