I had a great stay as a solo traveller. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, bed was spacious, with soft, cosy pillows. I had a restful sleep. The shower, while a bit compact, was easy to use and had excellent water pressure. I loved that the iPad controlled the blinds, lights, TV and temperature.||However, cleanliness could be improved. Adding a small fridge in the room would also be a nice touch. ||Despite the small issues, I had an overall enjoyable stay, and with improved housekeeping, this would be an excellent choice for travellers.

I stayed here a few years ago and loved the location. It's conveniently across the street from the Rotterdam Blaak station.||We had a room with a beautiful view over Oude Haven. Within minutes you find popular sights as the Cube Houses, Markthal, Willemsbrug, Laurenskerk and a water taxi stop, Boompjes. The hotel offers a few bicycles to lend and even umbrellas that comes handy. ||Overall great experience!||I will book again!

I've stayed there a couple of times over the past few years, but the hotel has become outdated. The room doors offer little sound insulation, making it easy to hear other guests walking and talking in the neighboring rooms. Every time I enter or exit my room, it feels like I'm breaking into someone else's. I believe the hotel needs some improvements..

This is a review of two of the staff that work at Citizen M hotel. My friend and I were looking for a hotel that accepted cash. It was raining and cold, we went into reception and Luigi and Aleshia were so helpfull, he let us charge our phones and gave us water and said to stay as long as we needed. So friendly if we had money on our cards we would have stayed there! Thank you Luigi and Aleshia

Google
Location and service 5* (although would have appreciated a personalised check out and thank you instead of being directed to a screen). The rooms, although they have a great view, cool window and nice tech system, are small and tired and need renovation given the price of hotel. Overall, would return for around 100EUR per night but not more.

Loved the hotel and its location. The staff were super friendly and helpful and we got good nights sleep and nice breakfast to start the days. They are great attractions in the area as well.

Yelp
I always enjoy staying here, I think I've spent 90+ nights at the Rotterdam location over the last 8 years. I also really enjoyed the Glasgow and Amsterdam locations, Shoreditch has been the only one I didn't like (lounges too small for the number of guests and inattentive staff). There's a lovely friendly atmosphere at this location, thanks to the predominantly female staff. The lounges are spacious and there's plenty of desk space for working. Beds are super comfy, the bar and canteen are pleasant (thanks to the staff) in the evening and the location couldn't be better.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely fantastic. For reasonable prices you can get a great room and even better service. Professional, young people are always eager to help you out. What truly sets the hotel apart though is the design. It's a place of creativity tastefully packed in a more modern style. Everytime I come to the hotel I just feel the creative ideas flowing through me, it's absolutely fantastic. In general a younger crowd gathers at the hotel and I guess that's also what they are shooting for. In my opinion, they did an excellent job. It's located right next to the train station and the city center so for all travellers passing by, it's a good hotel to spend a night at to explore the city on foot.

Yelp
This hotel is supposed to be very high-tech. Yet it is very low working, too. It starts right away when entering and trying to use the elevator. It obviously waits for the room key to bring it's users to their respective floors - but the sequence remains a mystery (first key, then button; first button then key; key and button simultaneously?). There is no explanation whatsoever and it is just a waste of time. Secondly the check in is self-service. But also their is an employee assisting. This is really weird and annoying - wastes time again and probably doesn't save the hotel any money either. Up in the room, it all starts again. There is a tablet to control all the settings of the room. It is used for light, the blinds, music and TV. It is also dead, DEAD, slow. This really is just useless tech. Also the alarm clock function doesn't work. Better not depend on it. The free WiFi is great at 25Mbits up and down speed. The hardware in the room is really good though. It is all very clean and neatly set. All the "citizenM says" stuff is obnoxious but oh well. The bed is spacious and comfortable. The bed is right on the window with beautiful views. The shower is tiny but alright. The sink in the middle of the room is weird. There is not enough space to put the standard utensils of one let alone two people. It is very quiet in the rooms and also with the blinds shut it is quite dark, which allows for a good sleep. In the morning my water pressure was so low, that showering was almost impossible. When i called the reception they were really attentive and friendly, yet still unable to help. For 2 hours that is. They were obviously working on it right away, but this really didn't help me. I don't know if that was just a fluke or if it happens frequently. The time to resolve this issue was far too long. They compensated me with a few goodies from their take-away, which was fair enough. Breakfast is overpriced. There is not a lot to choose from. One kind of cereal. Two kinds of cheese. Four types of jams. Orange juice and water. Awesome Croissants and coffee though. Sadly the bar isn't really a dedicated breakfast place. Service is in over it's head and slow. All in all a neat place to stay with great beds. Probably a little tight with two people, but also very low price compared to the standard rates in Rotterdam. They have many issues to work on to make the stay an all-round pleasant one...

Yelp
Smart hotel. Centrally located. Very comfortable beds. I wish they had body lotion in the room.

Yelp
At first I was impressed with the sleek, electronic, automated "noir" of this hotel. The automated check-in, iPad controlled room (curtains, heat, lighting, television, etc.), and pod-like design are amusing. The breakfast has a lot of good, fresh, simple options. After three nights here, I have noticed its failings; the sheets aren't soft, the food options at the bar are essentially pre-packaged microwaveable meals; there isn't really a front desk attendant or concierge - instead an "ambassador"; the housekeeping service comes around too early; they're skimpy on the products (no lotion, robes, or washcloths) and then of course the electronic iPad quirks - my heat wouldn't adjust, the television randomly came off and on, and the worst...on two occasions (one at 3 am in the morning and the other while I was in the shower at 9 am) the staff banged on the door because they "were receiving a fire alarm" (nothing audible or blinking in the room). While the design and concept are fresh, I think they will quickly age and then this will be hostile-quality, student accommodations. There is construction on the road leading to the main entrance of the hotel, which is tucked inside a plaza. The GPS takes you to what looks like a dead end, but with some persistence you can still arrive there to drop-off your bags. Afterwards, head to a nearby garage, which is €22 overnight and a 5 minute walk or risk street parking free until 9 am. The location is great near the Markt (which is fantastic) and the free porn and wifi are greatly appreciated.

Yelp
We're used to renting via Airbnb but when checking out hotels, I noticed this one was cheaper than most of the airbnb's AND looked amazing online. It didn't lie! Superfriendly staff, easy check in, small but perfectly designed room, free rental bike... Amazing what you get for the price of 72euros per night for two persons. It is even located ideally, everything in walking distance. Next time I am doing a citytrip, I will check if there's a citizenM to stay at! O and a plus: the room temperature, lights etc are controlled by an iPad: fancy!

Yelp
Trendy hotel for the business traveller, doesn't quite accommodate big families the rooms are small yet very functional. It is close to Rotterdam Blaak train station right across the street and market. Also quite a few restaurants at walking distance.

Yelp
If House of Bols, Heineken and IKEA got together and made a hotel..... I am a huge fan of the Citizen M concept and once you have tried them for yourself I'm quite confident you probably will be too. They specialise in cheap, no-fuss but chic good quality self service hotels where you can check yourself in and out 24 hour. There is however always someone around to help but you don't have to stand around with jetlag and heavy bags and ding a bell to get to your room. They have funky colours and artwork and a living room/ lounge space and 24 hour bar and shop/buffet to maximise the wall to wall comfy bed in your room. The room is controlled by a tablet and you have custom mood lighting and music. There is a black out blind again great for jetlag and watching one of their many movies. I even love their shower gel. You have a zesty one to wake up the early bird and a sultry one for the night owl. I love both. This is the second time I've stayed at citizen M, Rotterdam and Glasgow, and I find it top quality and great value.

Yelp
I've stayed at the CitizenM Rotterdam 4 times this year and it's a great hotel for the price. The rooms are extremely clean, great movie selection, you get a free drink and the staff are super helpful. Oh, the the showers are FANTASTIC. It's always a pleasure getting to stay over.

Yelp
I stayed there for one night with my boyfriend, and we loved it! Would gladly stay there again, and would be eager to try the other citizenM locations in other cities. Perhaps we are the exact target demographic for this hotel, because we laughed at all the little jokes, funny bits of text scattered in odd places throughout, e.g. the hairdryer is stored in a little sack, printed with "ssshhh... the hairdryer is sleeping." Anyway citizenM Rotterdam was just what we needed: reasonable price, creative and interesting vibe, super-comfortable bed, great location, yummy breakfast, and really really friendly staff. Seriously, all the staff who we interacted with were really nice and over-the-top helpful, with local recommendations, with helping us look up our train information online and print it out for us, etc etc. The bed is HUGE and very comfy. The room is small. So the idea of this hotel is that you should feel welcome to use the public areas of the hotel. The lounge/bar area is set up with tables where you can work on your laptop, and cozy seating areas with couches, TV's, and books. We would have been happy to spend more time relaxing in this lounge but our visit was too short for much of that. The bathroom is compact but we found it to be very nice, with a luxurious shower. We had no problems with the water as some guests reported. The bathroom does have a translucent wall, but you cannot see through it at all from the room. In fact the toilet/bathroom area seemed very well-designed, especially so that the person using the toilet gets enough privacy, unlike some other "modern" hotels I have visited where they seem to think that lovers sharing a hotel room want to watch each other use the toilet! We did notice a few glitches with the high-tech system for controlling lights, etc in the room. The window curtain and blind are controlled electronically by switches on the wall and also from the tablet controller. In both cases the curtain and blind were often slow to respond, leading to confusing and repeated pressing of the buttons, waiting for something to happen. But in the end we managed to get it working. Regarding the lights, we actually never managed to do something as simple as turn off the overhead lights while leaving the bedside lamp on. At the time we found this humorous and silly considering that everything was supposed to be so high-tech. But I could see how it could be annoying if you stayed for several nights and if you really needed that bedside lamp. We had fun playing with the colored mood lighting. Overall we had a lovely stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it.
