"It somehow seems appropriate that one of quirky, art-loving Amsterdam ’s coolest hotels would be sandwiched between terminals and runways. This sleek airport hotel from the stylish, budget-friendly citizenM chain (it also has an outpost in the city center) is made for the modern traveler. citizenM Schiphol offers 24-hour check-in, with self-service terminals and friendly ambassadors available to help with anything you need. The library-like lounge and canteenM cocktail bar and restaurant are also open at all hours, so there’s a place to lounge and snack even after a delayed flight. Rooms are compact but hip and comfortable, with oversized square king-sized beds, free movies, and signature designer toiletries in space-age-inspired walk-in rainfall showers. Best of all, though, is that the airport is just outside the front door. Traffic will never be an excuse for a missed flight."

"The idea of the airport hotel has certainly changed. Of course it needed to: just the phrase “airport hotel” has become a sort of punchline, a phrase we use to describe the worst kind of hotel. But CitizenM has its own Facebook page. The other airport hotels just want you to check out on time, without stealing anything. This one would like you to be its friend." - Tablet Hotels

Had a quick one night stop, landed at 5pm and checked into the airport by 630pm. Easy self check in, small room but cozy and very nice and modern/contemperory. Everything is controlled by an ipad (perhaps older folks wont like that). But nothing to complain about, the airport view behind was nice and the bed was large and comfortable. Definetly recommend if you are doing a quick stop.

We stayed one night at citizenM Schiphol and absolutely loved it. The location is unbeatable, just a short 5-minute walk from the terminal, making it extremely convenient for early flights. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like the iPad-controlled lighting and blinds. The staff were friendly and helpful, and despite being so close to the airport, the hotel was surprisingly quiet. The only minor point is that the room size might not be ideal for a longer stay, but for a short overnight, it was perfect. Overall, a stylish, efficient, and enjoyable stay — we would definitely come back.

I had to book CitizenM hotel at Schipol last minute due to a flight cancellation. The price was reasonable and within walking distance from the terminal. As I walked in I was greeted by a sewage type smell and signs everywhere apologizing for it. ||Check in was a breeze and staff were friendly, I considered cancelling my stay due to the smell, but was so tired I hoped the smell was not in the rooms and thank fully it was not. The smell did start to dissipate or maybe i got used to it, but I ended up having a few drinks from the bar but had to sit outside. ||||I appreciate it is not the staffs fault that the smell is there, I would have rated this hotel a 5 star without the smell. It is the perfect hotel for business travelers wanted a comfy night stay for a reasonable price near the airport. ||||Rooms were great, small but well designed so you didnt feel cramped in, as I only needed the hotel for sleep, I didn't mind the size. Shower was a bit fiddly.

Google
A great option for a quick overnight before a flight, especially if you’re solo. The rooms are compact but the beds are large and comfy, which is all you really need. My room was sparkling clean, and once I got the app downloaded I appreciated the ability to control the lights/curtains/TV from my phone. Solid breakfast and friendly staff as well. Roughly 5 minute walk to the terminal building via a covered walkway. Would definitely stay again - a much better value than some of the other hotel options at Schiphol (on- or off-airport)

Google
The room had a king size bed but it was VERY tight with only me. The shower is in the middle of the room and if I had even a fair deal of luggage it would have been way too tight. I assume that everyone who stays here does so because of it's proximity to the airport. It is very convenient for that. The food was decent and the bed was comfortable.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. It's dangerous and they don't care about their customers. They had the (false) fire alert going at 3am and even though there was no real danger we were stuck at the stairs during evacuation for probably 15 minutes. Imagine a real fire and not being able to evacuate the hotel. Very dangerous. Also, we were able to go back to our rooms at 3:45am but the hotel staff did not manage to turn off the alert until 5:10am in the morning. Imagine a fire alert every 30 seconds for almost 1.5 hours straight. So no sleep for anyone in the hotel. And guess what they offered us as compensation for this night of horror : NOTHING. Worst hotel ever. Horrible service. They don't care about their customers.

Google
When I booked this hotel I was anticipating an easy walk over to Schiphol for our early Delta flight. This is far from the truth. ||Room layouts are a disaster, your toilet and shower are in the middle of the room with glass enclosures to get out of direct view. There is no privacy whatsoever in this room.||For a single individual traveling alone with a backpack this may work but for two people with luggage this room is impossible.||The high tech doesn't work. I could close the shades but not get the tv to turn on with the Ipad. The Ipad said the TV was on but that not the case. Similarly, climate control is done via the Ipad and that function didn't work either.||For the walk to the Delta counter we will need at least a 30 minute head start on what was to be a leisurely walk.

Google
Well my 4 star rating is for the room. 1 small room and as you can see from pics all together for me ok but for wife no go. That's why this trip was solo. Short walk from Schiphol airport and train station and very convenient. Very well sound proofed too.

Yelp
The perfect location for a night at Schipol. The hotel is an easy (covered) 3 minute walk from the terminal. Same room as all CitizenM hotels, small but with a big comfy bed. Friendly staff, plenty of room in the lounges, well stocked bar, decent snacks and a few hot dishes. Quick and easy check in and check out. I will return.

Yelp
This hotel is very convenient and modern. My room was very much in the style of a small cruise ship cabin with a round glass shower in the middle of the room. I was only there a few hours, so it was good enough. I did not get breakfast in the morning as I was running late, but from what I could tell, it was quite the Scandinavian spread.

Yelp
Our favorite hotel when traveling from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. Walking distance from the arrival and departure halls, and affordable, this is a gem. Decoration is nice, downstairs there is a bar and living rooms with comfy sofas and tables with chairs for eating or working. The rooms are small but well laid out. And the beds are clean and comfortable. A couple will have to crawl over each other to get out but it doesn't bother us. Not a lot of privacy with the bathroom but it serves it's purpose and it's cool with the atmosphere lights. Breakfast was great with a lot of fresh food to choose from. Even vegan chia 'yogurt' which I very much appreciated. Tasty tea and coffee, fresh bread and croissants and such, Dutch cheese, fruit, eggs etc and even poffertjes, a Dutch treat of tiny puffy pancakes.

Yelp
Walking distance to Schiphol Airport. We like staying in Citizen M when we're visiting Amsterdam. The tiny rooms (as advertised) are well appointed. Great communal spaces. Staying at Citizen also makes the flight back home worry free since the time variable inherent in traveling to the airport from Amsterdam Central. I highly recommend Citizen M if you're looking for a convenient, clean and modern place to stay when visiting Amsterdam for a few days,

Yelp
Yikes!! Everyone pretty much goes "Yikes!" the first time they turn on the shower, but I will let you discover that yourself :) Nice hotel, short walk from Schiphol airport. Rooms are small but well designed and comfortable. Nice integration of tech, including ability to operate everything from the iPad, as well as set room moods with lighting and sound. Toilet space is a bit small, and, uh, not as private as someone might like if you were there on your first trip together. Maybe one of those Japanese toilets that makes musical notes when you are making unpleasant noises? Great experience and friendly staff, will stay there again, was also half the price of others in the area, but those things change pretty dynamically. The one thing I wish is that for a "mobile citizen" hotel, it would be nice if there was a USB port of some sort? Charging devices is quite limited for two people.

Yelp
For what it's worth, all in all, this is a pretty cool hotel! CitizenM Schiphol airport Hotel is the perfect distance from the airport, literally part of the airport, separated by a sidewalk. Has lots of cool art, and some you can buy. Self check in/out. Helpful, nice staff. A 24 hour canteen, great food and a room that looks so futuristic, I thought Scotty was gonna beam me up! There are cute little sayings all over the place, it's a crack up! Definitely recommend this one though, if you can stand a really firm bed. They leave a cute cuddle buddy on your bed, although I never cuddle things that don't have a changeable outer cover and have possibly been touched by many before me. Was wondering actually how, or if, they sanitized them. My reasons for 4 stars and not 5, the bed was a bit too hard and also a divider wall instead of a curtain to separate the bathroom from the bedroom would be nice. Yes, there are doors that shut fully around you when using toilet and shower, but there is no ventilation in the toilet, if you catch my drift, no pun intended.

Yelp
Great location, super convenient for overnight to catch early flight from Schiphol. Super cute hotel, very funky, well designed, small room. Love the full size mirror and all the super cute details including welcome, comfort doll. Very clean. Common areas awesome for working. Super nice bar and restaurant. Fast and super efficient check out process. Walking distance from Schiphol

Cute and beautiful hotel. Tiny but you got all you need. Perfect for Minimalist travelers.

Yelp
Quant rooms. Ginormous bed. Who could ask for anything more. I've got a toilet, I've got a shower. I've got s song to sing. Clean. Easy. Small. Hi-tech. Sooooooo Dutch. Also a funky Buddha bar vibe... at the bar. (I've could have written that better and both you and I are going to have to move on.). Pushing on with the review. I recommend this place for short stays.

Yelp
Pros: 1. Easy walk from airport 2. friendly and helpful staff 3. clean and modern room with a very comfortable bed 4. Good sound proofing in the room. Hotel seemed full when I stayed yet I didn't hear any other guests while I was in my room. Also, unable to hear any airport noise. That was very nice indeed! Cons: 1. Room is quite small. Not an issue this visit since I was only staying one night and I was alone but if I had been staying with hubby and we were staying more than a couple nights it would have been a little tight. I would not hesitate to stay here again when I'm visiting Amsterdam. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
Has to be the most unusual yet coolest room I have stayed in. Room isn't exactly large but you realize how functional it is and realize smaller is ok. The bed is really spacious yet comfortable. Everything in the room has a function is is laid out perfectly to include some mood lighting that's adjustable by a electronic iPad. You literally can change the feel of the room with the lighting alone. I also like the fact you can option into breakfast at check-in as well as select a room you like which I chose a top floor with a view. Also the bar and lounge areas are ultra modern. Felt a bit trendy and clubbish but I a good way. Lastly this is literally right next to the airport and makes for only a 5 minute walk which is easily marked. This also helps as if your want to go to Amsterdam in the evening your really set up nicely.

Yelp
Very happy with this modern, convenient hotel. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol), and pricing was pretty reasonable. We got one of their smaller rooms, and it was definitely efficiency-sized BUT it didn't feel super cramped because the layout was intelligently designed. The bed was comfortable and larger than your normal-sized hotel beds. The room was very high-tech, with a tablet that allows you to control the TV, the lighting, and even change the mood lighting color to suit your tastes. Any color of the rainbow is possible. Pretty neat and entertaining feature. Check-in and check-out were super easy & fast at the automated counter right by the entrance. We didn't eat here or visit the bar, so I can't comment on their food or drinks -- but they do have a 24 hour option for getting food, great for late night snacks or insomnia or jet lag... or any other reason why you might need to grab something to eat in the wee hours.

Yelp
This place is super convenient to the airport but I guess the prices are higher compared to nicer rooms in the city (I'm assuming it's because it's near the airport). Everything here is minimal...which means that your room consists of the basic necessities - bed, shower, bathroom, towels, soap. There's nothing extra such as lotions were anything you normally would expect from a luxury hotel. The room is small and is good enough for 2 people, any more than that would be too crowded and probably an invasion of privacy. I loved how big the bed was and how everything was controlled through remote, though at the end of my 2 week stay, I thought it was annoying how my remote kept on freezing and I had to turn it on/off just to turn off my lights or turn off my TV. Also, the hotel safe kept on freezing on me as well, where I had to ask the staff to come to my room twice to unlock the safe so I can grab my stuff. Being used to the California weather, I had to ask for an extra blanket, since the room only goes up to a certain temperature (even if you control it), and I still felt cold. I do like how the staff here is very friendly. If you check into foursquare, you can get a free latte/water/beer during your stay there. The lattes are just so amazing...you have to get it!

Yelp
Extremely professional staff! Hourly cleanup of surfaces throughout the common areas for COVID-19 regulations! Fair pricing! Definitely a place to relax and take care of business. I would definitely stay there again.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect place to spend the night before a flight. Room prices are a good value. Close to terminal. Cool lobby, fun bar with reasonably priced drinks, great sitting areas. They offer a decent breakfast, lunch & dinner buffet along with an array of snacks for purchase. Rooms are very small but functional, stylish and quirky. Big beds, free movies, ambient lighting choices and a rain forest shower head. Only complaint was wish the shower door was opaque and/or that the room curtain that separates the bed from bathing area wasn't see through. Totally fun and very worthwhile for the reasonable price.
google avatar

Kristi T.

Yelp
Pros: -Unique room setting with a room control iPad -awesome staffs even if they don't have a reception in the front -easy self check in kiosk -restaurant is open 24/7 -5 mins walk to the airport Cons: -small room, not idea to share, especially with friend -food in the restaurant is the same everyday -only provide shampoo so remember to bring everything else with you Overall, cool experience with the tubes and the high tech but definitely not ideal for staying here longer than one or two days.

Yelp
I wanted to like this hotel. But they don't have individualized A/C. Our room was way too hot to sleep in, so I stayed up all night...just miserable. I told the guys at front about it three times and they told us there was nothing they could do. It also took almost 30 minutes to get checked in, because the computers to check-in were not working. I like the concept, but there are too many glitches...sorry
google avatar

Philip S.

Yelp
My first experience at this property was a reasonably good one. The check in/out is all done with a computer interface in the lobby. It is similar to getting your boarding pass at the airport. The room was not small ad was interestingly layed out with toilet and shower in "pods" more or less in the middle of the room. There was, however, insufficient horizontal surface to do any work efficiently. The room is good for sleeping and personal hygiene but not much more. Housekeeping was ok. I did fine hair from previous guests in a few places - gross.
google avatar

Yelp
The room is surprisingly small and yet does contain everything you need. The Citizen M environment and atmosphere is entertaining and eclectic. You feel a bit like you're in a sci-if movie, and yet it's also amazingly practical and homey at the same time. The staff is energetic, and we were particularly impressed with one "employee of the month" in our opinion. Note that the bar and canteen (restaurant) is quite good. We thoroughly enjoyed our Chicken Tikki Masala and North African Cous Cous. Everyone should try Citizen M at least once!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice check in! Rooms are small but the design is looks like the future! You control is an iPad for the TV and the Room! Clean and nice! Good idea to stay here!

Yelp
Very odd place, until I found what I assume to be blood on the comforter... Don't recommend staying here...

Yelp
A modern, vibrant hotel with great staff. We stayed at this hotel on an overnight layover in Amsterdam. It is 5 mins walk from the airport and train station, and just a few mins on the train to central Amsterdam. The rooms are small, but well equipped and quiet. If you've never stayed in a citizenM before then it can be unusual - a large bed that takes up a small room. Couples, also be aware there is no door between the bathroom and the bed. Just a curtain! Overall, a great place to stay if you're just looking for a layover.

Yelp
Interesting boutique style hotel very close to the terminal at schipol airport in Amsterdam. The hotel is meant to be pod based a la Japan. The style is very hip. Not seen anything like it. You can check-in on your own or ask for assistance from an ambassador. The foyer has food / snacks, coffee, wine, ... Ea, convenient and very nice. Do not expect 5 star foo, but easy and good for travel. The rooms are a chapter to itself. The pods are small with wall to wall beds that at very comfortable. Te rom has a shower, toilet, ... Both shower and toilet are in glass cylinders so privacy from other room occupants is limited. The rooms are ideal for one person and usable for two people that know each other really well. All room functions are controlled from a single remote control. Very interesting. Wireless is free, but bandwidth is not fantastic. The lobby has more Mac computers for browsing, .... Overall a really nice and interesting experience. If you have an early flight out of Schipol this could be a great oasis. Prices are very reasonable

Yelp
So many whiners and complainers! You can spend 4 times as much at the hotel across the street if the room is too small for and you just don't get the concept. We stay here on our way back from Amsterdam every time we visit. Everything is super efficient and modern. Yes, the rooms are small; but they have everything you need(including a garbage can which one reviewer griped about). The beds are king size and very comfortable. Music, lighting, temperature and window blinds are controlled by an ipad. The breakfast is n extra charge and super convenient if you have an early flight. I hope they expand the CitizenM concept. I'd love to try staying in at CitizenM in other cities.

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect from a citizenM hotel. I arrived shortly after check-in time started around 14:00. I had taken a train in to Amsterdam Schiphol Aiport from Rotterdam and was debating what to do for the afternoon/evening before heading out in the morning. I got to my room, and I decided to stay in and play with the room. The one bad thing about the room is that is was controlled by an iPad, and at one point everything stopped responding, so I couldn't change the lights/temp/tv. I bet it'd be better if they used android instead of Apple. The room's functions/features like lights/temperature/blinds/TV/radio/mood are controlled by the iPad. There are TV stations available AND there are free movies to watch. I stayed in and watched two movies I had wanted to watch for a while (Home and Unbroken -- odd combination, but I hadn't seen them before). I also played with the room -- you can change the mood to movie/romance/bright/etc. You can change the colors of the lights. I preferred blue/teal instead of the automatic red. I enjoyed this room. It had a king size bed which was comfortable. I wouldn't want to stay in the room with anyone else since the toilet and shower are in what I can only describe as cylindrical "pods." The toilet's doors are sanded glass, so you can't see through, but the shower's doors are clear. In the room by myself that's OK. Otherwise, I'd be weirded out. The check in process was also interesting. It's like the self check-in at the airport. The room key also doubles as a luggage tag (sweet!)! On check in, you can buy breakfast for a discounted price than what it would be in the morning (it was a few € less buying it in advance). Breakfast was nice. The bartender will make tea or coffee, and there are hot and cold selections.

Yelp
No frills layover hotel about 200 meters from airport. Quick and instant do it yourself computrized check in. Your choice of rooms. ipad mini in room controls blinds, lights and entertainment system. tiny room but serves its purpose. designed for single night stays only
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
You can literally just walk down the sidewalk into the airport. That's the reason you stay here. The room is small and quirky. That's why you go- for the quirks. We barely had room to open our two suitcases up and felt super cramped even though we were literally showering, going to bed, and then getting up and leaving at the crack of dawn. The iPad only works if it stays in the dock, and when I needed to move the dock to be able to lay out my suitcase, I couldn't adjust the lights, temperature, or dual window blinds. Our room overlooked the highway and you could hear it. There's self check-in at computers which makes that process a little smoother, but overall I probably wouldn't stay here again unless alone and with an early or late flight.

Yelp
First impressions: friendly check-in, very small room, very weird to have the bed, basin and toilet in the same open space. While the place does attempt to "innovate" in many ways, their ambition to innovate gets in the way of very basic functionality. Like the mobile tablet that's supposed to control the TV but doesn't. Or navigating through the thin curtain, past the pile luggage and into the weird circular door around the toilet in pitch dark when nature calls. My major problem with this place was the fact that I could not sleep. My nose and lungs were most certainly reacting to some allergan in the room. Could've been some previous guest's pet, air freshener, perfume or cleaning product; whatever it was, it rendered the $169/night room absolutely un-sleepworthy. I told the reception agent who did his best by offering me another room, but since it was late and I had a very early flight, I gave up on getting a night's sleep. My allergies are very mild. Can't imagine what a severe allergy sufferer would've experienced. Take note.

Yelp
I loved my stay at the citizenM hotel right next to Schiphol airport/train station. As an American who doesn't speak Dutch I found everyone fluent and helpful. The evening staff was significantly more engaging than the morning staff and the bartenders all are super friendly. I would recommend this to anyone going to Amsterdam.
google avatar

Laurenda D.

Yelp
Check in was easy, staff was friendly and location was very convenient (5-7 mins walk from airport). Room was small, but they utilized the space very wisely. Rooms are very "intimate", so I recommend only for a couple or for someone traveling alone. We also had drinks at the bar, bartender was super sweet and our drinks were great.

Yelp
I stayed here overnight before an early morning flight to the USA. citizenM is a boutique hotel that is next to Schiphol airport - it is a short walk to the terminal. The common area has comfortable sitting area and lounge where you can buy drinks, food and magazines. There are Macintosh computers should one wish to check emails or surf the web. It's a stylish area but can get crowded. The room I reserved was perfect for one traveler (or perhaps two VERY familiar friends). The shower and toilet is part of the room - only a sheer curtain and clear glass separate it from the smallish bed/desk area. It's not that big of a room but comfortable and clean. I had some difficulty getting the shower to operate - be absolutely sure that the glass shower doors are completely closed. If not, the shower will not work at all. I also spent a few minutes trying to figure out the lights in my room. After you turn off the lights using the switch next to the bed, you have to go to the main switch next to the door to the room to turn the halogen overhead lights on. I paid 115 Euros for my room which included free wifi service. It was a quiet place for a short stay - and near the restaurants at the Sheraton and Hilton if you want something more than the snacks served in the citizenM's lounger area. Good place.

Yelp
Euro style times ten. Very efficient use of space. I was really digging it. I liked the check in and check out kiosks, very easy. Lots of places to sit with friends and chat (since the rooms are itty bitty). The technology in the room is freaking cool as heck! You have an iPad that controls what you watch on TV, the mood light in the rooms, the drapes, temp, everything! The shower is literally next to the bed and is like a space tube you step in. Same for the toilet. No privacy really - good thing I was solo. I'm not sure if I'd even like this with my husband staying with me. Overall, it's small but serves its purpose. Cool place to stay.

Yelp
I had a business trip to Netherlands and I needed a last-minute place to crash the night before my flight back home. Ended up booking CitizenM for EUR 80 without knowing much about the brand. I did have some difficulty finding it at first. The easiest way to get there is by exiting the airport through the doors by the Starbucks on the arrivals plaza (area 4). self check-in was pretty easy, but there are always helpful employees in the area in case you get stuck. CitizenM was the most enjoyable airport hotel experience I've ever had. Modern, simple, small yet comfortable rooms. As stated in many reviews the iPad (actually a mini) controls the lights, window shades and TV. My room's iPad was almost out of juice so I had to let it recharge for a while before playing with all the controls. After a long week of work + travel time back to Amsterdam the rainfall shower felt amazing. The bed is huge (takes up about half the room) and quite comfortable as well. My initial plan was to go into the city but I was exhausted so I decided just to stick around the hotel (been to Amsterdam before so no harm!) They do have a buffet and a variety of snacks and drinks but I did find these options to be pretty pricey (EUR 17 for buffet). I decided just to walk back to the airport and have dinner there instead. After dinner I went back to the hotel to hang out at the bar. The bar was pretty packed (Friday night) but I was able to get a seat and order myself a couple of drinks. The Dark & Stormy was really good; this bar is legit! This would not be an ideal place to stay if you want to explore Amsterdam although for the price and convenience of the train it could work. Definitely if you have a long layover or a short stay in AMS, CitizenM is highly recommended.

Yelp
I was already a fan of citizenM. Even more so now I know that each of their hotels is that little bit different. Having visited the citizenM in Glasgow previously, the Amsterdam hotel bar and lounge felt just familiar enough to feel at home. Our flight home was delayed so we headed here for a drink. - Before I knew it, one dark and stormy became two. (Isn't it funny how that happens?) The lovely mix of lime, rum and ginger beer was strong and well-mixed. Thank you, Mr Bartender! As with my previous experience of CitizenM, staff were superb. 1.5 hours killed with kick ass cocktails and free nuts at the bar. - CitizenM sure can accommodate!

Yelp
The rooms are quite big enough and the bed is super comfortable. Im not fond of the open plan toilet, I know you can close the doors but you can still see everything through the opaque glass. The shower was good, but again absolute no privacy as it too is open plan with glass doors. Ipad controls for the whole room is more hassle than help. Even turning over the tv takes several clicks and swipes to get to the right app and function buttons. Its the same for heating, lighting, blinds... Way too complicated and not really adding anything to a stay. These sort of gimmicks I always evaluate from the view point of my parents. They would have had no idea how to control anything. The menu is limited but seemed popular. Coffee and snacks were first rate, and not over priced for Schiphol which can be extortionate. €217 for one night is expensive, and It wouldn't be my first choice again. This booking was because of building work in another schiphol hotel which offered more or lees the same experience for less than 1/2 the price. It is however, very convenient for an early morning flight. I do object to being called 'citizen' and being called by my first name by receptionists i have only just met. It's way too informal and familiar. I am not a great fan of the 'quirky' comments that are on all literature; the bill is called 'the damage'. Why?

Yelp
This hotel rocks. We stayed before an early morning flight. The hotel has shower and toilet "tubes". The room is controlled by an iPad. There were a ton of free movies and tv channels to watch. The room has different "modes" that affect the lighting which we were very entertained by. I can't wait to find an excuse to stay at another citizenM!

Yelp
Perfect hotel for stopovers. It's right by the airport, so getting to/from there is easy and quick, and because there's a train from the airport into central Amsterdam, it's convenient for exploring the city if you have the time. The hotel has a fun, funky vibe and makes you feel like you've stepped into a weird, 2001: a Space Odyssey type of world. It's also no-frills, so everything on offer is all about efficiency, but to a high standard. The check-in was fast and easy. The rooms are simple and small, but comfortable and fun. The bed is big and comfy, the power shower (inside a pod!) feels wonderful, and there is a fantastic selection of movies you can choose to watch if you're too tired to get into city centre. The iPad allows you to control the lighting of the room AND also has an interesting alarm system (which worked for me, but not my colleague, so have a backup alarm just in case!). Breakfast was delicious, and it even comes with freshly pressed juice! Checkout was super quick, which makes getting to the airport to check in wonderfully stress-free. If I ever had another stopover in Amsterdam, definitely checking in here to relax. =) Tip: you can play with the colour of the mood lights using the iPad!

Yelp
I have stayed here a couple of times and it is certainly cool and a bit different from what other hotels offer. First thing, it's not good for the city centre so best give it a miss if that's your aim, but if you need a night at the airport this is the place to stay. What's good about it? Loads of stuff! HUGE beds, easy self check in and out, power shower in the centre of the room inside a big cylinder, free movies, cool bar and food area downstairs. This place is different from all others hotels, it feels 'hip', urban and modern. All the staff are also super friendly and helpful. Citizen M is the way more hotels will be in the future and I will hopefully stay in more in the future.

Yelp
Honestly.. I kind of didn't want to leave. Coolest hotel ever. I stayed on a layover back to NY, and amused myself for a while with all the different lighting options. The bathroom and toilet are in the middle of the room, so doesn't leave much privacy if you are not staying here alone. I suggest getting your own room :) Checking in was super easy, staff is very nice and the hotel is located close to the city itself.

Yelp
Our summer holiday flight was booked through KLM, which allowed us to add on a 24 hour stopover in Amsterdam virtually free of charge. We needed a hotel that would have easy access to the city and the airport (as we had to be there at 5 am the next day), and would not break the bank - Citizen M fit the bill. For about 90 Euro for one night, Citizen M was ok. Early check-ins are not allowed, unless you pay a 20 Euro fee (no thanks!) but they do let you drop your bags early. Our room was ok. The key didn't work at first to get into our room, oddly. Our bed was great - very comfortable and provided great sleep. The bath...well, no bathroom, per se, but rather a shower cylinder and a toilet cylinder...yeah, those caught us completely off guard. Fortunately neither my husband nor myself are *too* modest, but for someone who is, the plexiglass surrounding the toilet may be a bit unnerving. The design is neat in how efficiently it uses space, and for one night, it was ok. Oh, and there was also the addition of a slightly creepy rabbit rag doll with button eyes on the chair next to the bed. We did request a wake-up call that came 20 minutes late...fortunately, we had set our own alarm. A five minute stroll to the airport - perfect for catching an early morning flight without having to haul in from Centraal Station!

Yelp
I am frequent traveller to Schiphol and have stayed at the CitizenM many times and I have been pleased with the experience. The past six months the hotel has however started going down-hill. The location is of course still great and the check-in is easy and usually pretty fast using the touch screen terminals for self check-in. Nothing has really changed in the rooms except for the addition of a small desk (which is an improvement) so it is a small compact room with a very comfortable bed (and if there is more than one person staying in the room be aware that the shower and toilet are virtually in the room with only glass doors separating it from the rest of the room). Now on to some of the issues. There is free wifi offered and that has always worked well but the past 3-6 months it is often been poor connections and slow speeds. Upon complaining the responses have been that it is an issue that they are aware of and it is because so many are using it - suggested solutions have been to either wait a few hours or sit in the lobby where the connection is better. Neither has been a good solution since I usually do not want to wait a few hours and I often work on the computer so do not want to sit in the lobby doing that (and I am usually on the phone at that same time). So really a need for upgrading the connections. It is as I understand it something that is due to happen. An additional feature of the hotel that was cool and innovative were the mood pads. On my past five stays these have however also been working worse and worse. Often they are displaying 'please wait' and keep restarting. Surely they fix it going down to the lobby but it just appears as if these are due for an upgrade as well. They were modern when the hotel opened but now they appear antiquated and do not function as well as they used to. They are making efforts of improving the selection of food and now offer one hot dish every evening (in addition to things available to heat). Good initiative but the food often runs out quickly and there is lack of choice (only one dish per day). The food available to heat is not very exciting (the same type of prefabricated stuff one finds at the Albert Heijn in the terminal but the hotel charges 5 times as much for the same) and while it may be ok once in a while they should really make an effort to provide better selection of food. All in all it is still a good airport hotel but I have found myself once again switching back to traditional hotels in the area. Will still stay at the CitizenM now and then but mostly when arriving very late (i.e. when I do not need to use the Internet, eat at the hotel or require the use of the mood pad) and just need to sleep.

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times. Yes, the convenience from the airport is great. However, I love the comfy king size bed and the set up of the room. It's a small room but the space is well utilized. I have zero complaints.

Yelp
Hard to beat the location if you are flying in or out of Amsterdam. Rooms are full of fun features that being a smile to the face. Lots of shared open space so if you're travelling alone you can sit at the bar, read (books provided), watch TV, or work and have the buzz of other people around, but still have your own space. Recommended.

Yelp
A good hotel which is affordable and right next to the airport. It's the basic hotel which IKEA should have invented. Everyone is nice and it's so simple to check in and out. I stay here each time I have an early flight at schiphol!

Yelp
OK so I normally don't even register a hotel room as I travel for work a lot, but this one is awesome ..foodies and technocrats listen up this is your heaven:).an iPad governs lights in all colors of the rainbow, free movies, the curtains, you wake up with welcome citizen and your room card is a luggage tag with a message like traveling light but with a smile...oh and to top it off they actually sell pate and cheese and wine 24/7 for a picnic ...the bar is excellent and they sell real food at a reasonable non Amsterdam price...your bed is 3 ms wide and there are multiple living rooms....free wifi and loads op apple computers you can use for anything.. Check-in is automatic.. But the staff a true delight. Only minus would be it is an expensive night bit this is an airport and they are still way cheaper then their competition at the airport. Go citizens to a night in the future !

Yelp
This was truly one of the coolest and most convenient hotels I've ever stayed at! Super close to the airport, just a short walk, which is not only great for your flight but also because you can hop on the train from there and go to the city. The hotel itself is very high-tech. You check in at a kiosk (but there are employees standing by to greet and assist you), and the room is controlled with an iPad: you can use it to change the color of the lights, open/close the blinds, watch a free movie, etc. Like the rest of the hotel, the lobby has a very modern look complete with computers, a library area and a cafe/bar setup. It looked like a very business person-friendly place to stay, and I saw a few people in suits with briefcases doin' their thing in the lobby. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that it's slightly more pricey than I would want to pay for a small room at a hotel next to the airport. Join the citizenM club when you book online and you get a discount and a free drink when you check in!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at CitizenM on the night prior to our flight back to the US. It had been recommended that we stay at or near the airport the last night of our trip since we had an early morning flight and we didn't want to leave The Hague at 4 AM in order to get to the airport on time. That's not all that tough for adults but we preferred our 2 year old be well and rested prior to boarding an international flight. CitizenM certainly delivered all that it promised! The bed was huge and quite comfortable even with both my wife and I and our toddler sleeping on it. While it wasn't as comfortable as our bed at home, it was most certainly the most comfortable bed we slept on in Europe the last 3 weeks. The rooms are quite modern with plenty of electronic goodness. The drinks and food downstairs, while certainly not amazing, were nevertheless quite good. What tops it all off, though, are the following 2 words. FREE PORN!!!! 'Nuff said. :)

Yelp
One of my co-workers was hyping up citizenM before I got there; they were spot on. It lived up to the reputation. It's definitely the most modern and one of the sexiest hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms are fairly small, but the glass-tube showers and toilets are cutting edge and the mood lighting and remote controlled shades are very cool. The market has a good variety of food and beverages too if you're strapped for time. It's a 5 minute walk from Schiphol (and the train station), which makes it uber-convenient, Also, the price per night seems very reasonable for Amsterdam.

Yelp
This hotel was perfect! I stayed 3 nights, and had to catch a very early morning flight on the last day - this hotel is so close to the departures terminal - it's ideal! The rooms we pretty fun - beds were comfortable and I LOVED the view of the airplanes and runway. It took me 30mins to figure out how the shower worked - make sure the lights are turned on with the iPad, and that the doors are closed. The only drawback was that the windows didn't open - which made this very claustrophobic after 1 night. I just need the outside air - even if it involves airplane noise/fumes. Temperature was hard to control - always too hot or cold. If I am in Amsterdam on my own again - is definitely stay here again.
