Stayed here because my usual hotel (Sheraton) was fully booked, final night of a 30 day trip in Asia.
Even though I was given late checkout, they do not honor all Marriott titanium benefits. No free breakfast for titanium members, and the ntd$350 per day voucher was a joke. I arrived super late close to midnight for 1 night stay and by the time I want to use it in the morning they said it can't be honored on day of checkout.
The room was as advertised: Booked a tiny small room, get a tiny small room. Width of the room = length of the bed. Perfectly adequate for short stay.
Location, while it is a 2 minute drive TO the taipei main station, it's closer to 10 minutes FROM. It took forever on the taxi because of the poor road layout in that area of Taipei.
One positive aspect of location is, hotel is located 5 min walk from a bunch of 24 hour beef noodle soup restaurants.
The rate for my room also dropped after my booking and that was also super annoying, felt like I was buying 黃牛票, mark it way up, but if cannot sell, drop the price down.
Staff was all polite and friendly, on par for a typical hotel in Asia. However there was a huge earthquake during my stay, and the staff seemed confused as to what to do, didn't tell guests whether they need to evacuate or whether it was safe to re enter.
Either way, for a business to get satisfied customers, they need to find a way to go above and beyond, giving more then is offered and not find a way to cut here and there. That's a great way to get lost in an ocean of mediocrity.
