citizenM Taipei North Gate hotel

Third stay at a CitizenM. The Taipei North Gate is a good choice. The location is pretty central (10 minutes on foot from the main train station and 5 minutes from the closest subway). Despite having two main streets right in front, the rooms are actually very quiet (good soundproofing). Its nice to be on the higher floors because its fun to watch the traffic go by. Good blinds shutting out light; Friendly and available staff. Regular room clean (with towel change daily if requested for no extra cost). Comfortable bed (big, nice sheets and pillows). Decent choice of TV programs and other media. has a fridge (small) and a safe. No kettle or iron (but a laundromat one street away). The room is not big (nowhere to put suitcase out of the way, so you have to be organized, but there is a small cupboard with coathangers). Had tea in the morning in their calm breakfast room/sitting room. Good value for money for our third stay at CitizenM. We like this chain.

**5-Star Stay – Excellent Hotel!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My stay was wonderful! The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with great view! I arrived around 10am. The c/i time is after 2pm, so I went to Ximending first. Due to extreme hot weather, I decided to go back to the hotel around 1pm and wait for my room to be ready. As I was waiting outside, Amber approached me and helped to do my c/in. Very thoughtful as it was really hot outside. The location was perfect—close to attractions yet quiet at night. Would definitely stay here again—**highly recommend** for a relaxing and enjoyable trip!

My stay was absolutely excellent 👌 The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and genuinely made me feel at home. The location is perfect just a short walk to the Ximending shopping district, which made everything super convenient. I honestly wish I could’ve stayed for a whole week, but 11,000 NTD was a bit out of my budget this time 😅 Still, I truly believe it’s worth every cent. Next time, I’m definitely booking a full week. Highly recommended!

I've always liked the rooms of CitizenM hotels because it's clean and modern. The standard bed is even big enough for 1 person. I also enjoyed how I can control the room and other facilities(TV, room lighting, curtains, housekeeping,etc) through their service ipad. And they have a very nice interior of the bar/co-working space

Staying at Citizen was a pleasant experience in every way. The self checkin/out process was very easy and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was small but well laid out and controllable by the phone app or a tablet they have in the room for you. The bed was comfortable and sheets were soft. The water pressure in the shower was heavenly especially after long days of exploring the city. The location of the hotel is great and near one of the night markets and shopping areas. Getting an Uber or taxi was very easy and never waited more than a few minutes. The breakfast buffet had plenty of option and the lattes were always good. We ordered dinner at the Canteen a couple of times when it was too rainy to go out and the food was great as well. Every staff member was helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel and will be seeking out other Citizen locations next time we travel.||A couple of items to note: ||They do not have irons/steamers in the room but the hotel has an iron room which is is available to use. ||Rooms have a full sized blowdryer. ||They only have shampoo in the shower (no conditioner or body wash although the shampoo could be used for body wash).||The room is small (as we expected) so having 2 full sized suitcases open was a bit tight but manageable and would not deter me from staying here again. ||We visited in July - it is hot. Bring an umbrella for the sun and rain and don't let either deter you from going out to explore the city. You may want to pack for a couple of outfits per day if you plan to be out exploring then going out again for dinner as you will either be wet from sweat or possibly rain.||We explored many areas of the city on foot and always felt safe. The locals were always friendly and willing to help. When you go to the markets, they will have menus in English so just ask if they don't hand you one right away. All of the vendors are friendly and accomodating to English speakers.

Top notch service and friendly employees. I found the food at the hotel better than the night market. ||Everything was a 3-5 min walk either way (MRT, Night Market or Taipei City Mall). ||Far away enough from the noises of the tourist attraction. ||Do not use Apple Map to find the hotel, it will make you run around in circles. From the Taipei Main Station take he train to Beimen or go down to the underground mall and walk to Y28 and exit Beimen and across the street you will see neon red glowing Citizen M Hotel name. ||My only critiques: No bidet in my room, Wind noises on the upper floor and the elevator were not sinked together, so everyone would press all the up or down buttons. That made the elevator stop frequently. Other than that, I would stay here again. The employees made you feel like you're the President.

Overall, the hotel was located in a convenient location and the amenities were okay (toilet has no bidet!). However, when I called the front desk to ask for more bottles of water, they told me to head down to the counter to collect water on my own. I don’t quite understand if this is a normal practice? Additionally, my room was at the topmost floor - 26. Am I supposed to head down on my own and risk getting stopped at almost every level for water? I thought this is a 4-star hotel. I hope they can improve their service.

Hotel was absolutely great! It’s located in a very convenient area, and all the front desk staff and housekeeping team were super friendly, kind, and helpful. I didn’t try the hotel breakfast, so I can’t comment on that, but I did spend some time in the Living Room on the 2nd floor, and the atmosphere there was amazing — there’s even a drink bar where you can relax. I stayed for about 7–8 days and never once felt uncomfortable. The location is super convenient, with both a bus stop and subway station within walking distance (as long as you don’t mind a short walk!). After checking out, I realized that my boyfriend had forgotten his shirt in the wardrobe. I contacted the hotel through their Facebook page (the fastest way for me), and they responded quickly and coordinated everything smoothly so we could get the shirt back.
