Although we have been to Johor Bahru many times before, we have always stayed elsewhere but this is our first time to Citrus due to the fact we did not drive this time. We selected it primarily due to proximity to JB sentral, to the mall and the office we need to visit on Jalan Trus, all places that was walking distance. In close proximity were halal eateries, minimart, bank, a mall and sim card shops.
The room I booked (8th floor) was not too spacious but it was comfortable and clean. Aircond was not too quiet but it was comfortably cool, wifi is decent and the bathroom was okay with good water pressure, though it had a slight musty smell (as if it could have been few weeks since it was last occupied). The lobby however has a nice fragrant air freshener smell. The window isn't too sound proof and traffic noise goes on until past 1am and construction noise starts by 8am, something beyond the control of the hotel management.
The two front desk evening male staff and the two morning shift female staff were hospitable, helpful and efficient as was the bellboy and housekeeping. Let me also commend the efficient, friendly cafe manager on the 1st floor. Our room rate included daily breakfast which had good coffee, eggs and decent noodles and fried rice.
Due to our night train, we requested for the use of left luggage (7hrs plus) and 1pm check out (which we did not use) and the front desk were very accommodating to the requests.
Overall 5/5, we had an excellent short stay here and will consider staying here again should we arrive at Sentral on public transport. The only gripe are very minor things, the traffic noise and the smaller than average lift.
