City Backpackers HQ

Lovely hostel at a great location. The employees are really kind and friendly. Especially the German girls at the reception, who provided us with some amazing tips about what to do in the area. The city centre is close and the rooms and sanitary are clean. Surely a great place to stay when visiting Brisbane.

I've been to this hostel a couple of time and I enjoy it, I especially like that there are a lot of different common areas both indoors at outdoors. They have shared bathrooms but also solo bathrooms on each level which is nice and the rooms aren't cramped even in the 8 bed dorm. Staff have been super friendly and helpful, especially Darryl who is a great chat 🤗!

Great hostel! Friendly staff, clean rooms, and an awesome rooftop with city views. Perfect location near South Bank and public transport. Chill vibe, good bar, nice coffe Darryl Ideal for meeting people. Highly recommend for backpackers !

We were turned away and left stranded by Summer House Backpackers (Please never go there) —just two shops away from City Backpackers. Feeling desperate, we called City, and an angel named Deep answered. We explained our situation, and without hesitation he told us to come as quickly as possible. This was the night before my birthday, and I truly believe Deep was a guardian angel sent to guide us. The moment we arrived, he and his colleague (a tall, skinny European guy—sorry we didn’t catch your name!) welcomed us with kindness, compassion, and outstanding customer service. They gave us a safe place to stay, turned our nightmare into a blessing, and redeemed Brisbane for us. We had way too much fun and wanted to extend our booking another day on short notice and with no complains the gorgeous lady at the reception agreed to do that. The hospitality at Citi Backpackers is second to none. Deep, you’re a legend. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Kindness really does go a long way.

We stayed one night at this hostel and really enjoyed it. The place is clean, comfortable, and perfect for a short stay. We were warmly welcomed by Darrel, who made the check-in easy and pleasant. Highly recommend!

We only stayed in this hostel for the night, but wouldn't stay here again. Once we found the car park (after helpful directions from the staff), we couldn't park our car in the one space that was left, partially due to having quite a big car but partially due to the terrible parking of the other cars in such a tight car park. It's nice to have parking as an option for a city hostel, but wouldn't recommend if you have a big car. To be fair, the staff were helpful and let us park in the disabled space as other cars had made it too difficult to park in. The location of the hostel felt really dodgy. Lots of drunk/homeless people outside when we arrived at about 6pm. The private bedroom was fine but the beds were so solid we couldn't get comfortable. We heard noise all through the night as we were close to the bathroom but also people running and shouting with no consideration for those who wanted to sleep. The shower took literally 10 minutes to warm up and came out in a dribble. The bathrooms weren't clean and I just think the whole hostel needs a refurb as it felt very outdated and grubby. I can't fault the staff, but the hostel itself is just not the nicest to stay in. Maybe if you just need to crash for the night like we did, but I wouldn't stay any longer than that.

Absolutely loved my stay at City Backpackers HQ! The manager was incredibly welcoming and the whole team went out of their way to make sure everyone felt at home. The rooftop view of Brisbane is stunning, especially at sunset. Shoutout to the café – easily the best coffee I’ve had at any hostel. Super clean, great vibe, and a perfect location. I’ll definitely be back!

Great place to stay in Brisbane. Friendly staff and very welcoming. Amenities and rooms are always clean. Check in and out easy and quick. Atmosphere around the place is always happy and fun, creating a great vibe for the stay. Location is fantastic, only a quick walk to shops, restaurants and Suncorp stadium. Will be back for future stays.

Had a great night in City Backpackers HQ pub The Fatt Wombat last Saturday. Staff were friendly and beer was cheap. Good combination! #Happydays
