I stayed in one of the private rooms with attached bath. The hostel is in a good location close to restaurants, cafes, squares, etc. About a 20-minute walk up to the Acropolois, ten minutes to Plaka, and ten minutes to Syntagma Square. It can be a bit noisy with revelers, scooters, etc. The room is very basic - no TV, no dresser, no closet, no coffee pot or hot water kettle, no mini fridge. Just a basic, small private room with a desk and bathroom. The bathroom is about 3 feet from the bed, so if you're staying in the room with someone, you'd better be comfortable with that. The hostel has nice common areas with generous freebies (filtered water, coffee, tea). The hostel does a good job of creating community by hosting nearly nightly events. Overall, a good option for lodging in Athens city center.

I am older now (33) and typically leave hostels to younger folks at this point in my life, but I booked a private room here and don’t regret it (because you can’t beat the location/price-point). The attitude and helpfulness of the staff is incredible; everyone was so wonderful. The private room had AC, a comfy bed and was very clean. My driver from the airport mentioned what a nice area it was located in, some other perks are that it’s a 15 minute walk to Acropolis and there’s cold filtered water in the kitchen. Would recommend.

I traveled with my adult san and stayed in a twin room. Location is perfect, a quiet street in bustling Monastiraki. Interior design is just how I like it, as on pictures. Cleaning service, towels change every day. Well equipped kitchen, cozy lobby, evening activities, rooftop, bakery shop and coffee next door.

City Circus was such an accommodating and cozy / cute place to stay while staying in Athens, its location in the city is also very good. The rooms were clean and nice and the ambiance itself was cozy and calm. The only thing is that you can obviously hear if you have a noisy person around you etc so at night it can be hard to sleep so take earplugs but overall it’s a calm place to rest at. Overall it’s an amazing hostel, all the accommodations they offer really impressed me, they offer laundry services for a small fee and I believe they also offer transportation to the airport and will hold your luggage for you until your flight time. The litte kitchen area is so cute too and everything is labeled which was extremely helpful. They also kept us updated on the local protests going on during our stay which kept us updated with local transportation. 10/10 recommend!

All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is super cute, with artsy decor and various planned activities at night. Nice rooftop terrace. This is random, but the pillows were great. Has an elevator! Great location.

Initially, I thought I was going to enjoy a 4 to 5 day stay here at the City Circus Hotel. However, quickly any promises made by staff were NEVER kept! The final straw was the fact my son's wife was coming in at 4am and they refused to do an EARLY CHECK-IN @ 6AM for an additional fee. The night manager demanded FULL PAYMENT FROM 5AM TO 11AM [EQUALS 6 HOURS]. Then I was told unexpectedly, rudely & abruptly I had to leave within 15 minutes because a LARGE group of 60 were due to arrive at 2pm. Yet by 3pm NO BIG group arrived....Just more lies from Myrtle, the day manager. I was very disappointed for the poor services and broken promises and having to abruptly cancel my plans for the day due to having to relocate quickly. I cannot in good conscience recommend the City Circus Hostel to any of my friends or family!!! I won't be back!!! 1225/2025 UPDATE TO THE INACCURATE STATEMENTS MADE BY THE "MANAGEMENT" WHO OBVIOUSLY WERE MISINFORMED BY THEIR STAFF OR ARE ATTEMPTING TO COLLUDE WITH THEM IN AN ATTEMLT TO DISTORT & CONCEAL THE FACTS: 1] NO! I NEVER STAYED IN A "FEMALE ONLY" ROOM; I WAS ASSIGNED TO A MALE DORMITORY [NICE TRY GUYS] 2] EXCUSE ME, I NEVER EVER REFUSED TO LEAVE!!! ONCE I WAS RUDELY TOLD THE ROOM WAS "PRE-BOOKED" BY THE HUGE GROUP, I QUICKLY GATHERED MY BELONGINGS AND ATTEMPTED TO LEAVE, BUT GOT INTERRUPTED EVERY 3-5 MINUTES BECAUSE I WAS'NT FAST ENOUGH FOR HER!!! [ANOTHER HALF-TRUTH!] 3] PLEASE DO NOT INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE BY ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE BLAME AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS OF YOUR STAFF TO ME. [ [MORE DISHONEST STATEMENTS] THANK YOU! RICHARD

It's located at the heart of city with lots of activities around. Room was great. Location was secure. Staffs were very helpful. I am particularly grateful to Tasos for his support and because of him I will be staying in this hotel again during the 2nd leg of my Athens trip

Good if you want to mingle with new folks! And very aesthetic common areas. But if those don't appeal to you, probably not worth the price when you can get a private hotel room for the same. Plus, the noise pollution can be pretty bad depending on your room. Missing some hostel amenities: - bed curtains (useful if your bunk mate, say, keeps their cell phone light on all.night.long.) - working chargers by the bed - working AC - shampoo and conditioner - locking storage Also, I wish they had done a better job vetting for people's health. In our room of six, one woman coughed continuously every 1-2 minutes from 12-4am. My friend and I got sick several days later, which was a bummer to have happen during vacation. Front desk was lovely though, and it really is a pretty building.
