"City Cruises' Bateaux offers a glass-enclosed cruise for the 4th of July."

Where to start? My husband and I took the signature dinner cruise on June 28th for the bargain price of $243 and it is $243 we will never get back. The moment we got on board, the smell of filth hit is overwhelming. The a/c did not work properly and sitting inside was unbearable. The food was absolutely disgusting. It was like cafeteria food; very bad cafeteria food. The mystery Mexican corn casserole thing was something of nightmares. The bathrooms smelled worse than a port-a-potty. Oh they were absolutely AWFUL! I ended up just leaving my filled plate of slop so I could escape to the breeze outside. We perched ourselves on the lower back deck for the shortened 2 hour cruise and just drank the night away. It was semi-decent out there until 2 of the teenagers from this gigantic teen tourist group decided to use it as their personal make-out spot: the kid made it all the way to 3rd base so I guess the evening wasn’t a complete bust for everyone! All of the staff were very friendly and the cruise did not do as promised which was to sail around manhattan to the east river. I guess there was an issue with the coast guard stopping that from happening. The host was very kind and professional about it. And the cherry on top; our waitress; when we went to give her a tip, surprised us with a $124 mystery bar bill which was confusing because we assumed the drinks were included since we paid so damn much for the tickets. I don’t know, maybe I read the ticket wrong. But then it almost seemed as if she was scamming us because when we asked to see the check; she didn’t have it. So, in the interest of just wanting to get the hell out of there, I told my husband to just give her the credit card. She whipped out her credit card machine which she turned on and then seemingly turned back off and asked us “don’t you have cash”? Boy was that sketchy as hell!!! Thankfully we did not have cash! Then she says “don’t worry about it”. It was very odd!!! Never again with City cruises!

Mother's Day brunch Seated at one table as soon as we put bags down, we were asked to move to table behind us. Daughter didn't feel well Walked to bar and asked for water - they said 'it's being brought around' Waiter and bartender proceeded to fill pitchers for all tables - more than 5?+ mins passed I walked up and demanded water as she didn't feel well. They apologized and gave me ice water. We settled at the new table drinking water after 5+ mins a different (very apologetic) waiter moving us back to our first table. DJ Started playing LOUD music Then "welcomed" everyone to the brunch cruise with his mouth at the microphone making him EXTREMELY LOUD. . Then first three songs were about CHEATING at a MOTHERS DAY BRUNCH The next three songs were about "the pursuit" of women Very poorly coordinated - KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE This is not a party brunch - It was a family day with multi-generations sitting around the tables celebrating mother's & their families. Music was for a party brunch - R&B / dance Not for a Sunday morning / midday brunch with a mixed age audience of all cultures. A mix of music at a lower volume should have been incorporated Just after I finished typing all of this - - - the manager approached us and asked if we would be willing to move downstairs because we were at a larger table and he had a large party. He offered to pay for all drinks ordered from the bar as a thank you for moving... All in all staff was nice But the experience was sub par. As I was the "guest" I don't know what my daughter paid. But a lifelong NY/North Jersey resident - I've been on enough cruises around Manhattan to know --- it was not cheap. This was a poor event for a family. If it was a Saturday evening - it would have been fine.

What an amazing time. From before we got on the boat, to right as we left. Smiles, and a great experience. Food was good. Service was good. We celebrated our wedding anniversary. Wonderful staff. Thank you!

Had an amazing time! The staff was great. The selection of food was impressive and delicious. Our waiter, DJ, was very attentive and provided us with a great service. Overall, this is a must do! Highly recommend it.

Google
This was one of our best experiences in NYC. We went up and stood the entire time at the front of the boat and we had the best views! Went right by lady liberty ♥️ it was amazing - sunset tour highly recommended!!

Had a GREAT time with a middle school 8th Grade class on a lunch cruise. The staff did a wonderful job and the food was delicious. The DJs kept the music pumping and the sights were nice, clear, and sunny.

Great service, Antonio was the best. Fabulous views. The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious the chef even came to our table. Just a Great experience.

Google
A good cruise experience. They can do better by firing the staff and getting new people though. The guy who checks the boarding passes outside, an old chap with shades on (am assuming.. the captain?), kept rolling his eyes and smirking at me. a complete pompous ass. I was just trying to get my reservation mail pulled up on my mobile and he kept insisting that we were at the wrong place. That was pure racism.

Yelp
I caught Covid on this cruise. The ship was extremely crowded, people were coughing and the lower deck where the buffet dinner was served had absolutely no ventilation and was very hot. The food was poor at best. The walk to the ship is quite long and the boarding ramp is extremely steep. I was told that someone would assist me getting on, but that didn't happen.

Yelp
Excellent!!!!! If you're thinking about doing a a brunch or dinner cruise, just do it. And make sure it's on the Spirit of NJ/NY. My husband and I went on an Easter brunch cruise via the Spirit of NJ. The service was excellent. Every crew member we encountered was so genuinely nice and welcoming. Our server Karesse was great. She was friendly and explained what we could expect on the cruise. She was also very attentive. We were celebrating my husband's birthday during this cruise and the crew made him feel special on his day. We really appreciated that. I didn't have high expectations for the food but it really surprised me. All of the food was really good and flavorful. Seasoned and prepared really well. You'll even be given warm cookies on departure! A great gesture. On our next visit to NY/NJ we're going to do the cruise again, but we'll probably try a dinner cruise. Great job Spirit of NJ.

Yelp
Don't waste your money my union hosted a event today and I'm actually on the boat writing this. The food sucks so bad they should be ashamed that they served it. The drinks are watered down. I recommend that anyone who would like to host a event do not use this boat company. The food was so bland it hurts, there was no flavor to anything they served. I rate this company F for failure

Yelp
We were invited to have brunch on the beautiful and welcoming Spirit Cruise Ship of New Jersey (they departed from Chelsea Pier). As much as we wanted to be seated on the upper deck, we were satisfied with our seats on the lower deck. I think we were sitting right above the engine! The curiosity of where the noise was coming from created discussions with basically everyone at our table. That was awesome considering we met some amazing people from different necks of the wood. Please fully charge your phone to check into yelp and take advantage of a free delicious and stiff mimosa. Haha! I was a superstar at my table where I introduced the yelp app to four individuals. Not only did they sign up and receive free mimosas, they were eager to take pictures as the event went on, but was open to writing a quality user experience tip or detailed review of their experiences. They had a buffet style brunch with different types of salad, stuffed shell fish, baked chicken, mashed potato, broccoli, and pasta. Delicious! My huger pain was seriously kicking in therefore I ended up getting a second round! No shame, I was indeed pigging out... I was impress with their music selection, which was appropriate for all age group. They had a cute dance floor set up. I'm not a good dancer, but I think I made a fool out of myself with some unique move. Totally worth it! As I made my way to the rooftop, the view was beyond beautiful. I love New York City. We had a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty, Governor Island, Brooklyn bridge, and many more historical places. Overall, I had a beautiful brunch well spent with some new acquaintances and a mesmerizing view. Our waiter was just the best! I showed my appreciation by leaving a generous tip. Well deserve!

Yelp
I went on their Sparkling Dinner Cruise on March 10,2018. I'll break this down in a way which would've been helpful when I was preparing for my boat cruise. My boat left from NY and then stopped in NJ for passengers. Location: Easy to find. It's Pier 61 at Chelsea piers -the same place where they have The Lighthouse events venue as well as Sky Dive. Your Taxi or Uber can drive you in the parking garage so you won't have far to walk. If you take mass transit the M23 stop is at the front of the facility which is about a 5-7 minute NY'er walk away.(If you're not from NYC allot 10-15 to walk to where boat is boarding) Boat: beautiful, spacious, very clean. The bathrooms were nice and clean which is always a good sign to me. The set up seems to be large groups on the bottom deck. Medium to small groups on the main floor where the DJ is. Couples and varies group sizes on the top deck. Food: Each deck has its own buffet. The menu is published on their website in detail. Pasta salad, kale salad, organic greens salad you put together yourself, mashed potatoes, broccoli, corn, beef ( very tender and good), pork loin ( nice sauce and very moist/juicy), sesame chicken, cod fish. Drinks: You can get unlimited coffee, tea, iced tea and water with your meal. It should be noted that they don't seem to give you a pitcher of water for your table. They don't even mention the free stuff- they have a drinks menu and ask about those beverages. There are glasses of water on the table though. The drinks that my group had were good and strong. That just may depend on the bartender so if you're a boozehound you may want to work an extra shift before the cruise to lessen the blow to your bank account... or pre game... or just not be a booze hound. *if you check in with Yelp you get a free premium drink!! It's worth it!! DJ: The DJ was this young short (5'6-5'8 maybe) Latino guy who's name I cannot recall... began with a T or J? He had a glamour shot of himself on his equipment though if that helps narrow him down. He was really good. I found myself running on to the dance floor all night when I heard a good song. He played a mix of music. He seemed to do a good job of reading the crowd to play music that would get them amped. He gave us a Latino set, reggaeton set, top forty set, a sprinkle of soca/reggae/dancehall, what the 30 and under crowd consider rap music (I.e. some person called Cardi B), real rap, music slow music and line dances (I.e. Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide). The music starts a bit after the food is served and it plays until you're off the boat. Table Space: this was the main part I wasn't too happy about. Some tables are too close together which is annoying when people want to get up. Staff: the staff on the boat are all pleasant and helpful! Our server Terrence was so nice and patient- I'm happy that we were bestowed with him. The manager was amazing as well! He was nice and very personable. He encourages us to Check in on Yelp so we could get our free drink coupon!! Clothing: This runs the gamut- older people tend to wear a smart dress or simpler cocktail dress. You will see men with jeans but they'll dress it up with a collared shirt and nice shoes. I was worried that since it was 30 degrees out I'd be cold from a draft. The boat's temperature was very comfy for me and I was sleeveless. It got even hotter when people were on the dance floor!! Ladies, this is a cool time to wear cute uncomfortable shoes because you have a seat and it's totally acceptable to sit the whole ride!! Takeaways: The upgrade for alcohol is worth it if you drink. Look at the prices on the menu I took a picture of and make an informed decision! Enjoy!!

Yelp
A little trip for senior graduation from 11pm-2am on the Spirit of New Jersey. Boat came 1 HOUR LATE and we STILL HAD TO LEAVE AT 2am. WE DID NOT GET THAT 1 HOUR BACK. "Tough luck!" Views of the Statue of Liberty were beautiful but the credit card only bar was atrocious. The line for a drink was 35 minutes + and they MANUALLY INPUTTED THE CARD NUMBERS Also the food was subpar and the dance floor was the size of a kiddy pool. **take cash and open the bar on top of the boat so you have two bars available!!!**

Yelp
I went to this for a company event. I was expecting it to be a painful experience, but it wasn't too bad. The place: This ship departs from the Jersey side. The parking situation is a bit confusing. There is a parking lot across the street that says "retail visitor parking"... confusing, but turns out that is the right parking. Don't bother getting here too early because there is nothing to do! it's a big empty marina. The food: typical banquet food, some rice, salad, short ribs, etc... Nothing special, but surprisingly it wasn't dry which is usually a problem at these types of things.

Yelp
I brought my 2 children with me on this last minute venture and I was thoroughly impressed! So many opportunities for pictures and relaxing but I will say that timing is everything. We passed the Statue of Liberty and you need to make sure you're on the right side if you want a selfie with her ;) Check in on yelp for a free drink and make sure you have the best server named Devonte taking care of you. He was the best!!!! He helped accommodate me and my children in every possible way. The food was served buffet style with a nice variety. I wish there were pancakes/ waffles but still a nice spread. I will definitely do this again.

Yelp
Great time hanging with my girls! Lots of fun! Loving it here! Great way to celebrate birthday!

Yelp
I came onto the boat for a work event, so right off the bat I did not have to pay for the cruise out of my own pocket, so I think that gave me a good first experience. However, I would not have done it if I had to because I am from NY and I live in Jersey City now, so I run past lady Liberty every day. If someone were coming from out of state, then I would recommend this to someone if they're looking for a special atmosphere. If not, take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty from Liberty State Park or Battery Park in NY and it's the same thing. Prior to our departure, our guests were waiting at the dock for about a half an hour (if you came early), so by the time we left they felt dizzy and nauseous. I wouldn't recommend going on the boat more than 15minutes prior to departure, and I'm glad I was the last one of before we left. The wait staff seemed nice and attentive; I didn't have much interaction with them. If something were empty or if a person asked them to get them a cup of coffee, they would. The food was just okay. Not great, but not terrible either for being on a boat. From other reviews it seems expensive, so that definitely wouldn't be worth the price. Overall, the view was great, the food was ok and the atmosphere was good. No I wouldn't go on my dime, but definitely take your company out for an outing on the River.

Fernanda R.

Yelp
Had an awesome time with my husband. Great food, dj was great and we loved the solo artist playing live music on the top deck. I just think it would be nice to have the waiter explain how the experience goes because we went outside to take pict and when we came back dinner was halfway done, but no one told us when dinner would be served etc... a bunch of people outside enjoying the view not knowing the program dor the evening. Everything else we loved.

Pablo L.

Yelp
Family dinner with my wife evening was fantastic on board of the Spirit of NJ. From the moment we arrived the staff was very welcoming our hostess Brainey was fantastic. Dinner buffet not shy at all there was plenty of food with a very nice dish selection. I had a little bit of everything, music, dancing awesome definitely recommend. Perfect evening!

Jenn B.

Yelp
I had so much fun! I did the Father's Day brunch and he was so happy with everything. The food was buffet style and they call you in per table. The food surprised me because it was really good. My brother was saying these are the best eggs he ever had. The DJ was great and played different variety of music. He was really good. The down side is the space between the tables. The tables are too close. Also I was told I couldn't bring my stroller when I booked this via the phone but I did see other people with their strollers. It was a bit frustrating for me not to have the stroller because my baby really needed it.

Yelp
Initially I was really hesitant to be on this boat - it just screams touristy all over...well I was totally wrong. You get to see all the cool NYC sights from water, with open top deck with nothing obstructing the view (lots of great photo ops), and when it gets too hot just fly down the deck and there's air conditioned bar. I must say the departure from NJ side wasn't too bad at all, free parking space. I was also impressed by the crew - waitress was attentive, ship crew was very helpful as one of our group members required special assistance to get on & off board. There was a large group of folks with disability but the crew handled professionally and I was really impressed, and crew made sure that everyone enjoy the time. Yes it's touristy but this is a good operator and if you must do it, try this company.

Hank C.

Yelp
A three-story boat that cruises the Hudson/East River/Bay with great photos of the harbor and city, and a DJ that was mildly entertaining (and got better by just playing music instead of trying to talk). A nice close look at Lady Liberty and downtown. The food... so-so, this is not really here for the food (banquet style), or the dessert. Braised short ribs were the best and even those were crazy salty. Salad plate, crusted salmon, mashed potatoes, pesto pasta, and some broccoli to add. Dessert was a mix of sheet lemon cake and pecan pie, short bread. Nothing chocolate? I was surprised. Good thing we had the package with free wine/beer/soda. And Alan, the guy from California serving us, was all to happy to clear up and get us drinks. Good service on his part, sans the flying silverware that struck me twice. They will take photos and try to sell them to you. Good thing was that we were a small group with only another medium-sized group on the same trip. So not too full and easy enough to make it to the bar on the top level. Good weather helped make the trip nice and pleasant. Parking is in the Retail Visitor Parking lot across the way, and this is all the way down on the pier. Also no public bathrooms so you have to wait to get on the boat, or go to the mall food court.

Yelp
Me and my husband had an experience a few years ago sometime around October. It was awesome! The food was good. Music....and of course the Manhattan view! I hope we can do it again sometime soon. It's worth of money!!!

Lauren M.

Yelp
This is a really great ride on the Hudson with beautiful view I would give that 5 stars. The food was not very good. First off it seemed to be reheated, did not taste very fresh. Ran out rolls and did not replenish any thing that was out. They also had a dessert table that you could barely get to because it's crammed against the wall. The presentation was that of a school bake sale. Dessert was however not bad! The girl who served us was horrible. She was so unprofessional. She look as though we were bothering her when asking for something. She was one of the worst servers Ive ever had. Numerous screw ups with no apologies. Forgotten drinks, wrong drinks, never came back. She was Terrible. So if you want to go for the ride, its great, but eat somewhere else!!

Natalie K.

Yelp
Spirit of new Jersey was absolutely wonderful from the point of booking the reservation until we stepped of the boat. *When I booked the cruise they asked was it a special occasion and I let them know it was my mom's 75th birthday. She (booking agent) said we will note her as guest of honor and that we will get a senior discount off the reservation. Great!! * From the will call window to boarding the ship my mom was greeted with a happy birthday by several crew members and she loved every moment of it. *I cant say enough about our server Robin ....he greeted the birthday girl with a rose and offered her a complimentary glass of champagne and spent the rest of the evening making her feel special. * Dinner was a buffet style offering fish chicken beef and pork with a host of sides and salads. There was enough to choose from and everything was tasty. I wasn't crazy about the desserts as they didn't match the quality of the dinner. Nevertheless the food was delicious. After dinner we went up on deck and there was a girl singing with a guitar she was ok. We wanted to take in the sights and the weather was perfect. We had the opportunity to see the sunset and the rising of the moon behind NYC skyline just beautiful. Mom was once again made to feel special as she was invited to meet captain and first mate who also wanted to wish her a happy birthday! There is nothing bad I can say about this evening except I wish DJ could have been outside instead of guitar girl because he was playing some good music but no one was there to enjoy it as evrybody wanted to be outside. I would definitely do this again....if you try it I hope you get a crew as great as we did...they rocked!!

Yelp
Lets talk about the biggest rip off of my life " The Spirit of New Jersey" This cruise departed out of Chelsea Piers on 10.21.2018 - and I waved it goodbye thanking GOD I got off before it set sail. My group of 3 and I thought it would be a great idea to take a lunch cruise around the city, but think again. This boat was so outdated and gross I could not imagine paying over $100 for it. The smell on the inside of the boat itself was something out of a horror story, but lets make our way to the buffet table. Food sitting out for god knows how long, sitting in a swarm of fruit flies around it. Fantastic. My group and I got off of this boat before it departed because we couldn't imagine dealing with the horror for 2 hours. To add to the despair - these boats are not ADA compliant so they were unable to accommodate a person in a wheelchair. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!!!!!! They refuse to give me a refund and will only accommodate me to get BACK on one of these boats. This has got to be the biggest joke of all time. Clyde was combative with me on the phone, and we were unable to come to an understanding. Customer service is obviously not in their category, and whoever is running this joke of a business should really open up their eyes instead of worrying about being a local tourist trap.

Neesy N.

Yelp
It was very good , nice staff & amazing DJ it's a must , go as a group not individuals . It literally really is a good cruise for dinner , I would suggest going as a party of 4 or more , and to make it seem better , it was mostly business and corporation people who didn't dance ( DJ was playing amazing and great songs.) which made it a little disappointing because of the group of people who were on the cruise . Other than that , it was good, from food and view , it's amazing , just the people you get on with , their not fun

Gayatri J.

Yelp
We had a table at the back of the boat right next to a door leading to the deck. All night as people came and went we felt a rush of cold air. After a while it got pretty inconvenient and uncomfortable. We also wanted to buy the professional pictures that they took as we boarded the boat. When the girl took the pics she told us that they edit the pics and print them out and come to your table and you have the option to buy them. BUT THATS NOT WHAT ENDED UP HAPPENING. Instead of bringing the pics to our table while we were INSIDE the boat, they were handing them out as people were leaving the boat out in the cold. It dint make sense to stand in the freezing cold wearing a dress behind a bunch of other people while the person looked for our pics inside a box. Being that it was dark when we left the boat, they couldnt even see our faces clearly to find the pics. We were extremely disappointed with the whole process !!!

Aisha P.

Yelp
Great place, very nice people! The service was fast and everyone was nice and accommodating. I would recommend to friends and family!

Yelp
My party of 5 and I were looking forward to booking the Spirit of New Jersey to celebrate a special occasion. We talked it through based on the pricing on their web site, and agreed on the date and everything else. Unfortunately when we went to book we were surprised by an extra 20+% in Administrative Fees and Marine fees. This surprise completely changed the budget and caused us to have to back out of the plan that we spent weeks coordinating and locking down. Additionally there promotional pop-up on their site which stated 15% off for group bookings, with the only qualifiers being must book by April 15, and sail before Dec 30, would not be honored by the site or the live chat help, as they claim it must be 20 or more for a group booking. I would except that if that is what the fine print said, but it did not specify a group size in the fine print of the pop-up on the page. I had been on the Spirit of New Jersey once before many years ago, and can already knew that I needed to temper my expectations about food quality and such, but then for them to misrepresent their prices and their promotions, is way too much. In the end, what we were expecting to be $200 per person, was going to cost be almost $280 per person, plus then still having to pay gratuities. For mediocre food and 3 hours, this is ridiculous. I could get a balcony room on a real cruise for 7 nights for the price of taking a group of 5 on this 3 hour tour. Especially given if it rains or unseasonably cold which is easy for early April to be, that it would be a lousy experience.

C H.

Yelp
We took the sunset cruise and we had a wonderful experience. Food, service and of the weather allows the view can be amazing. the buffet was really good, chicken, roast beef, pork loin, good variety of salsas, mashed potatoes and red velvet cake for desert. The night was foggy and cold, so not a lot of people, we were updated to the window table and the waitress brought a glasses of champagne after we told her that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The boat deck has sitting place and game tables, we couldn't enjoin because of the weather. We will do it a again on a nice night. Still enjoyed.

Yelp
I had been wanting to go on this cruise for a while now and was finally able to when we visited in June. I chose the Wednesday dinner cruise because I figured there would best less crowds during a weeknight and it was also slightly cheaper compared to the weekend. There was a huge group of young high school kids lingering by the booth which I hoped would not be on the same boat, out of curiosity I asked the ticket attendant about the group. She then assured me they were on a different day but boy was I wrong lol - I'll get to that later. Give yourself extra time to pickup your tickets at the booth prior to departing, location is easy to find. There is also a NY location to choose to depart from but if your staying in NJ it's way less of a hassle.Note to my ladies wanting to wear heels: it's quite a walk from the booth to the boat from the dock,so bring some flats! Upon entering the boat I noticed how outdated everything was,not like the pictures on the website. We were then greeted by staff immediately and taken to our table. Our server then walked up and explained the schedule of events for the evening and offered us drinks.Make sure to check in for a free drink! Once everyone boarded, the MC went into more detail about the cruise and then dinner buffet started shortly thereafter. The food was just okay, best part was the baked chicken. There was a couple of options but the quality wasn't the best unfortunately. The best part of the night was seeing all the sights of NYC skyline, the Brooklyn bridge and of course the Statue of Liberty. When we walked upstairs to the top deck I was surprised to see that large group of kids from earlier.Kind of irritating to pay as much as we paid for this cruise only to have a huge group of high schoolers constantly chanting songs and screaming in excitement.Kinda of like going on the tourist boats during the day which cater more to families.Apparently you can pay a discounted rate and are limited to the top deck and bottom deck. Later on in the evening the bottom deck turned into a dance club which of course all the kids ran down to! The middle deck also had a dance floor which catered to an "older" crowd. I'm not sure how the staff determined when to turn on/off the AC but the middle deck turned into an ice box when the sun went down.So as everyone looking at the sites outside wanted to come in and relax towards the end of the night you just couldn't because it was sooo damn cold inside! Unless of course you had a winter jacket! And when several people mentioned it to the staff nothing was done about it. Not that the staff were rude in fact we constantly were asked throughout the night how were things going and everyone was friendly and customer service orientated. All in all It is an definitely an experience while visiting NJ/NY-but choose your cruise wisely. If you are not too picky and just want to see the amazing city skyline then this is the cruise for you. For me personally I would rather pay a little more for a more upscale experience elsewhere.

Yelp
I was there with a church group, 8/17/2019, I felt that the event was very unorganized, there were elderly people who had to stand for over and hour.......boarding the boat was difficult for those who were handicapped. not to mention walking to where the boat docked. this place is not handicapped accessible. Also, the lady who called herself a chef (food runner) was flirting with my husband instead of making sure the food was being replenished; there was a long wait for food......also, the seniors who were diabetic or on medication should have be allowed to eat first, that was never asked. There are so many things that should be addressed, so that the experience could be better.......

Toral K.

Yelp
We took the 7pm cruise from Lincoln Harbor. Extremely loud music, sweet sixteen crowd, junior prom-type DJ, cheesy limo outdated atmosphere and terrible food. It was a 3 hour cruise with the last hour being the most excruciating. The blasting junior prom music was especially annoying to elderly and small children. If you are looking for an upscale, classy or relaxing NYC yacht experience in the evening- THIS IS DEF NOT IT.

Nunya B.

Yelp
What en excellent experience! Took my parents and toddler for a Saturday lunch cruise. Every single worker was so nice! Dominique was an excellent waiter and Kevin was so kind to us. The food was great, service was all around excellent, views were great. Everything was very well thought out. Music was a good volume- we could hear each other talk. I want to have a birthday party there!!

Captain Frank and his trusted manager Alex was very gracious to let us see them drive the boat and show us the Statue of Liberty up close! So memorable and amazing! Would do it again next time I'm in NY!:)

Yelp
I had and excellent time on this cruise. We were greeted by friendly staff as soon as we got on board. My wife and I were seated quickly. We ordered drinks to start and our waitress Karesse was really good. The drinks did not take long to make it to our table and the buffet started almost as soon as the ship left the dock. The food was good and hot. After eating, we were able to go on the deck to take in the views of the city and Statue of Liberty. This was a really nice way to start our day.

Yelp
Went on a dinner date with my husband - Sat. night cruise 7pm-10pm. We had an AMAZING time. All the staff were pleasant, our server Ranaysia was the definition of a top shelf waitress! Food was GREAT. Atmosphere and overall experience was WONDERFUL. Music and food (all you can eat) - 5 stars. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to spend time with their spouse.

Yelp
I did the lunch cruise with my dad and it was such a fun tour on the Hudson. The service was great as we were talked to the host at several points during the trip. Even the lunch buffet was very high quality with options of tilapia, pork, and chicken entrees. The DJ was also a nice touch pointing out at the attractions along the way. It certainly is an expensive trip but worth every dollar we spent!

Yelp
This a great romantic dinner cruise. The staff are very nice and take good care of you

Yelp
I recommend cruising with the Spirit of New Jersey the staff is friendly and awesome. Our waiter Josh took us to the Captain's quarter's where we met Captain Derrick and Paul, they gave us the warmest welcoming and educational experience ever.

Yelp
Great night out w/the girls or for a "date night". Great views of NYC without the traffic and worry but also delicious food, great "special occasion" details (it was my birthday), good DJ. Hard time keeping the dancing going as everybody's outside looking at the view. Would be nice if the DJ was heard on top deck.

Yelp
Great cruise Amazing time!! Came for company outing and it was great service and excellent drinks and food!

Yelp
Run their generator all day long at their booth - ruins the waterfront experience - get a solar panel for gods sake !

Yelp
I went on this with a group of other university-associated people for the lunch cruise. Everything on-board was good (waiters, food, etc.). The views of the Statue of Liberty and other areas of the NY Waterfront were the best part of the cruise. The only downside was the overpriced bar ($12 for a mudslide), and because of the prices, I didn't bother buying any drinks. So yeah, come for the good food and views of the NY Waterfront, but don't consider buying the drinks on-board.

Yelp
My company had our Christmas party on Friday night. It wasn't the rocking that made me want to vomit--it was the horrible food. Wretched. How the chef calls himself a chef is beyond me... I would be embarrassed to serve anyone frozen food. The vegetables were all flavorless reheated frozen veg. The pasta dish was also clearly from a bag of frozen pasta. The sauces were from packets or jars. I'm a vegetarian, but my sister said the fish was also clearly frozen. The mashed potatoes were salty and clearly powdered. Seriously??? You can't friggin' make real mashed potatoes??? The cost is 50 bucks a person and I'm served frozen crap I don't even keep at home? My best friend's 10 year old can boil water, too. Is she a chef? The waitstaff was very attentive and the views were spectacular. But I don't understand the food. I mean, the chef knows how many people will be cruising...and he can't prepare fresh food? Fresh vegetables are CHEAPER than frozen. Making a fresh alfredo or marinara is cheaper than buying packaged. It makes no sense. I was embarrassed for him. Apparently the peppermint bark was hand made by the chef--and it was tasty. I guess he had plenty of time on his hands--as nothing else required anything beyond putting a pot on some heat and emptying a bag. A chimp could do that. And though "manager" Chandlin (?) or something tried really hard, he lacked the charm and gravitas he was attempting to demonstrate. But his staff really was exemplary. Never again.

Yelp
Experience was less than par. From the moment we got on the boat, we were told that there was a low occupancy (98 guests), which I thought was good for us since we had young babies and therefore would make things easier in terms of space. However, the low occupancy was not in our favor; the buffet line was extra long and took forever to serve. There was only one line, which looks like 2 would have been more efficient. Some of the food did run out and I was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. It was not. When dessert time came, I asked for coffee, however they ran out. I did see other tables being served coffee. To make things better, they did not compensate us for the coffee, but they still charged us $2.50 per soda. WTF??? Food was good, but terrible customer service. The $50/pp price tag is not worth it. I'm giving 2 stars because the DJ/MC event host was excellent, he did his job very well.

Yelp
Thanks to waiter Joshua and the crew that greeted us. And Captain Derrick that showed us a great time. Will definitely do this cruise again. Visiting from St.Louis Mo. Thank again

Yelp
Pros. Scenery was beautiful! I have some great pictures! Cons: the food was terrible. It looked like it had been sitting for an hour before the buffet was set up. It was all dried out.

Yelp
We had one of our family reunion events here and I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. The buffet lunch was good, with the exception of the bread (it was hard) and the view of the NJ and NYC skylines and Statue of Liberty was amazing. Service staff was awesome as well; very friendly.

Yelp
Very horrible parking situation. No one at the cruise new anything about parking. Yet it's been there for years. A ticket never had to be validated before hiking back to the Sheraton. No one was even present at the larking lot. Anyone can freely go and come after a certain time.

Yelp
My husband and I had a very romantic evening on the Spirit of New Jersey. The food was great and the DJ was good. Our waiter was extremely friendly and efficient. The views of the Statue of Liberty at night were awesome! I booked the evening on the same day we dined. I wanted to really spark up the romance so I paid the extra money to have a private table, roses, and champagne. When we boarded the vessel we found out that the package we paid for had not made it into the on board system. We were extremely disappointed, however the Cruise Manager, Anthony Martinez, took care of everything and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a phenomenal evening. We would definitely cruise and dine on the Spirit of New Jersey again!

Yelp
Very organized business and helpful crew. The food selection was served buffet style, plentiful and good. The ship was in great shape, clean, even the bathrooms! Captain operated the boat smoothly and had some breath-taking views of Manhattan on the moonlit dinner cruise from Weehawken going as far to the Statue of Liberty. The music jumped around from hearing disco type music of the 70's to current songs on the radio, it was still a fun selection including the electric slide played at almost every wedding. Personally I think the music could be updated better. The crew kept the atmosphere fun and didn't rush anyone off at the end. Great night out!

Yelp
The Spirit of New Jersey was the perfect setting for my friend's 60th Birthday Party! The food, DJ and crew were first class all the way. Special thanks to the restaurant manager Alex and the Captain Derick, you guys were wonderful. I will definitely book this cruise again in the very near future.
