My family took this cruise as an activity with the GoCity pass. We were visiting San Diego for the week and wanted to see as much of the city as possible. We were not allowed to get our tickets in advance, but did not have any issues on the day of the cruise. Our GoCity passes worked as tickets.
On the boat, there was limited seating. Many families had to sit inside because there was no room outside. There was absolutely no shade on the top of the boat. It was so hot. Make sure to bring a hat and visor. You can get what looks like a 4oz soda for $4. My husband joked that they took a can of soda and divided it four ways and charged us $16.
We did not see any whales. My children were bored for four hours. We saw sea lions and two types of dolphins. That was a total of 10 minutes or less, which means we were in the hot sun for almost four hours. My husband and son fell asleep for a couple of hours. We were given a voucher to come back again to look for whales, but my family was not interested.
