I stayed there for five nights and I would definitely come again. Yes there ist only one shared bathroom with a toilet and one extra toilet for 8 people in high season but I never had to wait for a long time, maybe five minutes. They offer rooms with private bathrooms too. Roxanne and Jeff always make sure that everything is clean. I loved the hostel and the area around. Everything is super close. David also offers a very nice three hour tour in St. John’s and around which was truly amazing (I went with his good friend Jeff and we had the best time). I can 100% recommend and can’t understand bad reviews. There is maybe no power outlet in every corner off the room but everybody can charge the phone easily. There is even a fridge in the room and the kitchen is nice and clean too! Keep in mind this is Newfoundland and not New York City! I loved it! :-)

Great stay at the hostel. I met great people and it was really clean (no bed bugs). I had a room with the bathroom inside so I can’t speak about the shared one. The kitchen is quite small and in the “basement” (so not a lot of light) but everything needed to cook (except oil). There is no lounge where you can work unfortunately but there is a coffee place near to the hostel. The location could not be more perfect !!

We booked a room with a private bathroom — everything was as advertised, and the self check-in was easy ✅. It was cool to stay in one of the colorful houses in downtown St. John’s, just a short walk from the harbor, pubs, and shopping areas. The beds weren’t very comfortable, but you get what you pay for.

Excellent stay here. It’s very clean and looked after. In a great location in downtown St John’s. Walkable distance to everything you need. Kitchen is well kept and has plenty of space and utensils. Lots of friendly people around - make sure to stay here when in town!

Location is perfect 👌 Lovely colored homes and within walking distance to nice views and downtown. Host was hilarious and helpful. Bathroom was clean and the rooms were very well put together and clean. Downsides: The bunk bed was really shakey when climbing up. Mattress was super uncomfortable and the pillow wasn't the best. Hopefully other rooms have more comfortable mattresses and pillows. (We stayed in private one)

Location is awesome. A stones throw from the waterfront and downtown area. Parking is available on the street and the #15 bus (which transfers to #14 which takes you to the airport) isn't too far away. Service is friendly and you'll get to live in one of those colorful homes St. John's is known for. Rooms are acceptable considering this is a hostel but the problem is that there's only one shower. Fully populated, this hostel could probably have up to 30 people so having all those people sharing 2 toilets and 1 shower is a little crazy. So in summary, if you're looking for a place to crash after some partying downtown, this is a good choice. But if you want to use it as a "base camp" to explore the area over several days, you may want to reconsider.

This hostel met my expectations. As expected it is shared rooms with bunk beds and options for a private room. It’s clean and safe. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There are also discounted tours offered by the hostel owner. The location is great, close to all the major sights. I would highly recommend this hostel if you are looking for basic and cheap accommodation.

Dave is the most amazing and accommodating host who will endeavour to help you as best as possible with any needs. I was a workaway for 2 weeks at this St.John's hostel and had the best time! Rooms and facilities are very clean, location is great with good bus connections and an easy walk downtown. A street parking permit can also be given if needed. Special shout out to caretaker Jeff who showed me the ropes of looking after the hostel and also took us on some great hikes! If you are looking to work/stay here please don't hesitate! Great people and experience, will definitely be looking to stay here again! Many thanks Dave!
