Restaurant & Hotel City Brunnen

Unfortunately, our stay at City Hotel in Brunnen was disappointing. We had two rooms, and both had issues that pointed to poor standards. Hair was found in one of the showers, suggesting the room hadn’t been properly cleaned. The duvet inner was badly stained and didn’t match the cover, as it was smaller and left bunched up inside. Breakfast was below standard, with warm orange juice I saw standing out from the night before that had clearly gone off and dirty plates still showing food residue stuck to them. The dining area was uncomfortably hot and had a noticeable number of flies, and despite several requests, no air conditioning was switched on. To top it off, I found a hair in the rice at dinner. Overall, the hotel failed to meet basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort. Whenever I went down stairs to speak to someone, there was never anyone around. Won't recommend at all.||

The location is great. Close to the lake, shops, and restaurants. The hotel is older and in need of repair and upgrades. Cleaning is fair but could be better. Staff was rarely at reception as they also helped at the restaurant. Food was fair, not to my selection or taste.

Old hotel with equally old equipment and facilities. This is the first time I have stayed in a 4-star hotel that requires you to close the door when taking a shower (the bathroom very very small and for those who are afraid of narrow spaces, this hitel is not recommended. Its almost very difficult to move) and not to boil water in the room. If you need hot water you shoukd go down to the lobby (very small as well). Small room size, the pillow is thin like a paper. And some of the carpet in my room are damaged.  No air conditioning and poor ventilation. There are no amenities at all even though I asked directly at the front desk. Since we booked the room from the agent, we complained to them and they said someone will help us and asking to meet him the lobby. Unfortunately, he was angry. Then asked loudly, what time did you check in? why are you only complaining now?Then he asked which rooms had thin pillows, then I said that on average all the complaints were thin (we book around 9 rooms), he didn't accept that, he said "it's impossible, all of them. Try to tell me which room number needs to be fixed." The breakfast is bad, the fried rice provided is cold and there is no choice of bread, only one type. The restaurant is also less hygienic, in a closed area there are many wild birds flying here and there. From all the facilities available, services and the way they solved the problems, I don't think this hotel deserves to be a 4 star hotel, specially in Switzerland. If you don't want to ruin your vacation I think this hotel should be avoided.

Only the location is fantastic. If you don’t mind the room at all, go for it. But I’m telling you—I felt sick as soon as I walked in.

First time to Switzerland. Our group was on lots of organised activities. So we arrived late and left early to enjoy Switzerland. Rooms very small. Interesting lifts. 1 meal organised in hotel but 2nd night restaurant was booked out. Guests not provided options from reception. Great location and really friendly staff at the hotel, as well as the restaurant. However, everything is extremely outdated. The rooms were okay, but the electrical plugs for some lamps were broken and looked kind of dangerous. The bathroom was really small... Overall a nice stay but some things were definitely not worth the money, sorry.

Old room and slanting bed bed with broken leg, no hot water in bathroom, slow service in the restaurant. Only one waitress have to go down early for early breakfast because they don’t replenish when the food run out. Carpet in the room smells.

The reception is not helpful at all, on the contrary very aggressive!!! I am a professional bus driver and I was told to unload the people in the street with the risk of someone getting injured!!
