City Hotel Ljubljana

Loved this hotel! The room was very clean and spacious, with a large bathtub and L’Occitane shampoo that smelled amazing. The staff were generally friendly, with a few especially pleasant and helpful reception staff. The absolute highlight was the breakfast buffet. The team worked incredibly efficiently to make sure guests had a great experience. Tables were always spotless and perfectly set, and they were cleaned immediately after guests left. The food was delicious, and the pastries were outstanding. The hardest-working buffet staff ever. Bravo to the entire team!

First, the location is amazing. You are just steps away from all the sites and shopping. Second, the check-in process is easy, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Third, the rooms are clean and have the most comfortable beds, pillows and comforters. TThe rooms are equipped with full amenities. The hotel is not new, but it is well maintained and clean. The breakfast spread is huge, with lots of locally sourced items, and they keep it fully stocked until the very end of the breakfast period. There is ample seating. The lounge is a nice gathering place before or after going out. Fast elevators. Their commitment to eco-friendly practices is impressive! By simply hanging a tag to show that your room doesn't require cleaning, each adult guest in your room receives a coupon for a complimentary wine, beer, or coffee at the hotel restaurant.

We had a lovely stay here. The location was excellent — close to everything we wanted to see. The bed was very comfortable and the pillow was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a hotel! The room was quite warm at night, but otherwise very comfortable. The shower had great pressure, and I appreciated the L’Occitane toiletries, which felt like a nice luxury touch. The buffet breakfast had a good selection — the hash browns were especially good and a nice surprise. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a great location.

A great hotel in a very central location. Was a short walk from the bus station which has direct buses to the airport was also a very short walk to all main sites. |The room was very large and had all facilities you would want, a fridge, hair dryer, safe, kettle. Very comfortable and large bed. |We even had a nice view of the castle, which we didn’t anticipate.|Free breakfast was included and was very good. There were options for vegans, including rice milk and soya milk, with hot options like grilled vegetables, hash browns and soy patties. Lots of fresh fruit and granola. |They stored our luggage on the last day, and had let us check in early, around midday.

This hotel grew on me. When I first arrived I was a bit disappointed as I felt the photos on Expedia made it look much more modern, spacious and four star, my compliments to the photographer. In reality the foyer looked dated, too much clutter. The room was much smaller than the photos suggested, the pillow cases had holes in them, the grouting in the shower was discoloured and I had to request an iron. However the bed was incredibly comfortable, the shower powerful, and the shampoo and body wash smelled heavenly, on New Years Eve a small bottle of Prosecco was left outside our room, and i there were decaf coffee and herbal tea options provided in the room! The breakfast buffet was wide and varied and served till 10.30am and of course the location is ideal, so by the end of my stay I wouldn’t say I was head over heels in love with the place but we had made peace ❤️

Very mixed experience at this hotel. The room is large and very clean, nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness. It was very well cleaned and maintained. However, it feels outdated and strangely empty at the same time. The space is huge but poorly furnished and lacks warmth The light behind the headboard heats it up a lot, to the point where it becomes uncomfortable. In the bathroom, the shower seals are in poor condition, allowing water to leak and creating puddles on the floor. Water pressure changes constantly, as does the temperature, which makes showering unpleasant (imagine the pain when you have long hair…) The biggest downside is the staff, who were extremely unfriendly and somehow we felt at one point they were making fun of us. The man at the reception repeated us when we checked-in, like 3 times that it is forbidden to smoke in the rooms, almost scolding us like we are little kids. I know it’s unpleasant to have people that don’t respect rules, but hey, there’s a way of saying it and chewing it out like that ain’t the best way of doing it, especially when we just stepped the foot inside the hotel. You constantly feel like you are bothering them, even when simply buying something from the small lobby. On the positive side, the mini-market style lobby is quite nice and convenient. Breakfast is good and filling, but nothing special considering the price. The gym is disappointing: a very small room with only a treadmill, a few kettlebells, limited equipment, and a strong musty smell. Overall, the value for money is very poor. The only real highlight is the location, which is excellent, everything is within walking distance.

A shame we could stay for only one night. This hotel is an absolute gem and a dream choice for anyone visiting Ljubljana.|Its central location makes it incredibly easy to walk to all the major attractions. ||The rooms are spacious, spotless, and very well maintained, with L’Occitane amenities that reflect a high standard of comfort and quality.|Breakfast was excellent with a generous spread, and the staff were genuinely warm and welcoming throughout our stay. ||A big plus for us was the underground parking, which made things very convenient as we were on a road trip across the Balkans.|Highly recommended and truly worth every penny. Would happily stay here again.

The breakfast spread is huge, with lots of locally sourced items, and they keep it fully stocked until the very end of the breakfast period. There is ample seating. The lounge is a nice gathering place before or after going out. Fast elevators. Room windows open up. Electric water pots in the rooms. There is plenty of storage in the rooms. Excellent shower. I love their environment-friendly cleaning concept, too: if you hang a tag to indicate your room does not need to be cleaned, then the adult guests in your room each get a coupon for a free wine, beer or coffee in the hotel restaurant.
