City Hotel Thimphu

This hotel is reasonably priced centrally located hotel. Many attractations and city center are within walking distance. That's important because city sleeps early in evenings so you have less time to roam around. Plus no uber, tuk tuk etc . We could walk around without depending on local taxi .||Hotel is extremely neat and clean. Our suite was very spacious with large open terrace. Toiletaries were provided. Very polite and kind staff including at reception. Housekeeping was prompt and helpful. Heat mode in our AC wasnt working and they promptly provided room heater.||Highlight was the restaurant staff and the chefs ( om bahadur other chefs) during our stay. There was no buffet because of low occupancy but staff went out of the way to ensure we had a wide spread of our choice for each dinner. They managed to cook our "wish list" of bhutanese cuisines entirely in 3 dinners that we had there. They even sourced local buttermilk for us. Dishes were amazing. Pumpkin jaju, ema datsi, coconut pudding not to be missed.||Good wifi which was rare in other bhutan hotels

Great customer service! I stayed in an upgraded luxury suite, but the most impressive part was the lobby staff. They helped my Kira get dressed properly, arranged taxis, and assisted with anything I needed. As a frequent world traveler, I can say their service level easily meets Western standards. I want to stay here again next year.

We stayed here for two nights and found the hotel was centrally located and within easy walking distance to markets and restaurants. Since the hotel has several floors, it was nice that it also had an elevator. Our room was nice sized with wooden floors and plenty of space for luggage and toiletries. We noticed there were earplugs on each nightstand but we didn’t use them. The only noise that we heard was barking dogs in the night but that didn’t disturb us much. We had breakfast included each day which had an ample selection of hot items and fruit which were different each day.

We reached a night early than the actual booking date due to inclement weather as we cancelled our stay at Phobjikha and returned to Thimpu. The hotel allotted us a room immediately which was really nice. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Though the washroom had problem of waterlogging in the shower area which was never solved. The breakfast was good but with very limited options. The location was good near to city centre at a walkable distance.

Perfect location in the centre of the capital city and staff that go above and beyond the call of duty. This is a fine starting point for your adventures around the land of the thunder dragon...they lay on a great breakfast too...and great choices for room service! Bhutan is beautiful and unforgettable..and will grip you with it's uniqueness from the moment you step off the plane!

The City Hotel, Thimphu is a modern, boutique hotel centrally located in Thimphu's modest CBD. The rooms were spacious and clean, and all utilities (hot water, AC, lifts, Wifi) worked well. The king bed was comfortable and the linen clean and new. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in a modern dining room that also had an appealing balcony with seating. There were 6-8 dishes on offer which included traditional Bhutanese and Indian cuisine. We found the food delicious. There is reserved space outside for tour vehicles to park. The room had a security box which was great for cameras etc, but too small for my laptop. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was one of the best bhutanese hotels in have went to. The staff were kind and patient ,the food was great and the room I went to was big and spacious.

We stayed 2 nights here. The room is very spacious and comfortable... The view from room 305 is lovely as you can see the buddha in the distance. The bathroom is very clean and good got water. The heater in the room was very nice and keep us warm. The food was excellent and reasonable. The breakfast spread is quite substantial.. For dinner we ordered Indian dishes and they were very tasty and well made. They take a little time to make so you might want to order early and come down in a bit. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful. The location is very nice as it is very close to the city centre and all restaurants, cafes and very close to the farmers market... All at walkable distance. All in all great value for money. The bonus - the cafe next door - OM cafe serves Good coffee and excellent croissants.
