I really enjoyed my stay here. Affordable is the understatement of the year. The staff and management was very welcoming and happy to answer questions. The other guests were polite and considerate of the shared hostel spaces. The facilities were clean and well kept. It's a stone's throw away from delicious foodie hole-in-the-wall small establishments like wedge + fig and Cafe Ole. And if you're headed to the convention center, you can walk past Ben Franklin's final resting place. Good times all around. :P

Friendly staff. One highlight is the no shoe policy. Extremely clean so you have no worries. Close to all you might need and want to do. Very quiet for a hostel ... which is what you want after travels. Located in a beautiful neighborhood. If your flight is late in the day you can relax in the living room. No need to stress. Looking forward to a return visit.

Great hostel, awesome staff! It's a more quiet hostel, so perfect if you actually wanna sleep. The common room is big and offers games, TV, couch, kitchen. Bathrooms are neat. The only thing which bothered me was the AC in the dorm. It was freezing and you couldn't turn it down. Also you need to bring you're own lock for the lockers which I didn't know. I will definitely stay again. :)

The staff were fun and friendly but also felt pretty genuine, each showing their own personalities. Because they lived in the house they were often just hanging out, and they all got on with each other well so it almost felt like having a lot of friendly and very helpful housemates. They created an environment in which people were able to both go out and have fun hanging out and pub crawling, and not feel bad about wanting to stay in and have a calm chat, and watch TV. I really enjoyed it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hostel. Perfect location and friendly staff. The. common areas/bedrooms and especially the bathrooms were super clean. We had the opportunity to meet one member of the staff (Fernando) and he did a fantastic job maintaining the space neat. I personally want to thank him for taking us to a bunch of cool places in Philly, and for being extremely attentive and genuine. You're the best Fernando! :) Thanks so much to everyone at City House Hostel Old City Philly!

This was my firsr Hostel Experience and it turned out great! I was skeptical at first since this hostel seemed older than the sister property but turned out to be just want I needed. Very quiet and seemed to have more adult/mature guest rather than loud guest. They had a pub crawl which allowed everyone to meet the others staying at the sister property and provided free beer for happy hour each night. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The only real con about this place was only two showers worked out of three and the one that didn’t work smelt quite bad. Regardless I never had to wait for a shower to be available and the water was very hot! I would definitely stay there again or at any of there sister properties.

Staff was great and funny, others were quite in the sleeping area. Very basic great price though. Saved money cooking there instead of a regular hotel and eating out. Overall good place and fun but the bathroom smelled weird. Not dirty but weird. I'll probably go back next year.

Clean, friendly, helpful staff....Craig and Max were very nice and if we needed anything they helped us. Great little place to explore old city and travel river ferry to concert!! Enclosed parking is just around the corner and reasonably priced. A/C worked wonderful and we needed it cool on the 90 plus degrees outside!! It was a quiet weekday, we stayed one night and it was perfect for the price and location!!
