Great, traditional market with fresh products. Pleasant sellers, prices justified (tourists certainly pay a little more, as in our case).

Markale Market is a charming and vibrant place in the heart of Sarajevo, filled with fresh produce, local goods, and friendly vendors. It’s a great spot not just to shop, but also to experience the everyday rhythm of the city. During our visit, we even saw a German TV crew filming there — a sign that the market remains a place of interest and activity. But while enjoying the lively atmosphere, it’s important not to forget the tragic history of this place. In 1994 and again in 1995, Markale was the site of two horrific shelling attacks during the Bosnian War, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians. Today, the market stands as both a symbol of resilience and a silent reminder of the cost of war. Take your time to enjoy the market — and also take a moment to reflect. Places like this carry more than just goods; they carry memory.

Love public markets where locals shop! The spoken language is mostly hands and smiles 😊 but you get what you want/need for great prices!!!

Looked for some local food and honey. Couldn't find much. But not regretted 😃 the sellers only speak Bosnian.

This is a very small covered vegetable market. Great if you are staying here for a while and want fresh produce / vegetables, but for a pure tourist, it's just a small covered market. It has some notoriety as in the war it was bombed twice and it has a "Sarajevo Rose" towards the back of the market, but the paint is faded and the locals no longer bring attention to them. Nearby and some of these reviews here are confusing the 2 places, is the indoor "Gradska tržnica Markale" which is the meat, cheese and eggs etc, it's close and an easy walk 3/4 mins. People have even put pictures of Gradska tržnica Markale (the meat and cheese) here instead of on its own Google listing, lol I think the meat and cheese market is a better place to visit, I'm biased as I like dried smoked beef 😃🙏🏻

This is a street where all food can be found. Restaurants are endless along with souvenir shops. There's about 5 mosques 🕌 within 50m of each other so, no reason for not praying 🙏. Black Friday makes the prices more attractive bcoz discount of upto 50%.
