Yelp
This is a huge park that has a few weeks of jazz in the park during the summer. I don't know why it's only a few weeks when summer in Denver is from May to September, I guess until someone else takes it on and can manage it. There's a little pond that has some paddle boats in summer. I believe there are some volleyball spaces, too. I've heard there are some tennis courts on one side, but I've never seen them with my own eyes so they must be more out of the main area. This is also connected to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, a favorite of mine! Plenty of space here to have your own area to chill and have a picnic.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite places while visiting Denver for the first time. I ended up staying here longer than I needed to, just because it felt good. I went during late afternoon/early evening time just as it was cooling down. I saw a few bunnies that were adorable! One even let me get super close. The area around Ferril Lake is just so relaxing. Just pick a bench in the shade and enjoy people watching. Parking was a breeze. I would definitely return if I were to come to Denver again.

Yelp
One of the best parts of our stay in Denver was walking through City Park in mid-April. Absolutely gorgeous landscape with trails and blooms under a beautiful blue sky. We even saw a majestic bald eagle. So many photo ops and chances to sit and appreciate the views. If you want a place to elevate your mood and mesmerize your senses, go here!

Yelp
I love visiting this park. There are so many trails to walk/run. Definitely a great place to go if you want to get in a few miles. It is very peaceful here with the two ponds (Ferril and Duck Lake) and all the open grass areas. It also a great place to come walk your dog. I see many dog walkers on my visits. I have even seen people using the open grass areas to have dog training classes! City Park is located right next to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. If you listen closely, you may be able to hear some of the animals such as the elephants! They've got tons of geese, ducks, and squirrels that hang out here. I see bird watchers come here especially over by Duck Lake that borders the zoo. They have two playgrounds here. One is on the eastern side on the other side of the lake as the building. The other is the city park playground. It is located behind the building next to the lake, down the hill and past the statue with the cannons around it. That city park playground is really great. They've got so many different types of equipment for all ages. They have different things that a typical playground such as a small bike loop that has mini hills for kids to ride their bikes on. They have a climbing structure that is shaped like a sea serpent and a tall, silo like structure that the kids can climb through with a slide at that top. Tip: Ferril lake in the center of city park has duck boats that you can rent.

Yelp
I've always really liked City Park. It's a great place for walking and exploring. There are beautiful old trees and nice playgrounds. The Museum of Nature and Science and the Zoo are both near the park. Jazz in the Park is Sunday nights in the summer, and is always very fun.
google avatar

Yelp
City Park is a great park located only a 10 minute drive and 20 minute bike ride from Downtown Denver with Ferril Lake at its center with a walkway/bikeway surrounding it. It is a large park with plenty of walking/biking space and grass. There aren't many parking lots here but finding street parking within the park and around the perimeter of the park is easy and plentiful. I have never had an issue finding parking when visiting here. One very unique aspect of City Park is that the Denver Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature and Science are located within City Park. I have greatly enjoyed ending a visit to the zoo or museum with a leisurely stroll around the park. I highly recommend it! One thing that I will say is a downfall of the park is that it is a bit dirtier than other parks that I have gone to. There is not much that can be done regarding the plentiful goose droppings but the trash cans surrounding the park always seem to be somewhat full and emit a foul odor. It is also surrounded by relatively busy streets especially Colorado Blvd so it is not the quietest either. Overall, City Park is a great place to be active, read a book, or just chill out and take in the beautiful Colorado weather. Enjoy!

Yelp
Me and the missus like to walk here when we're staying overnight. It's peaceful and pretty. Only gripe is the trash left behind near the benches from homeless people. The city could do a better job cleaning it up.

Yelp
Lovely and lively park. *Leave a park cleaner than you found it I have been here so many times. It is a large park so careful where you park as depending which lot you choose you could be walking quite a bit. Museums, a lake with swan boats, jungle gym, tons of picnic areas, you won't run out of space here. The lake events are decently priced! There are doing a lot of construction here and beautifying some of the area. Great place to walk the dog and relax. It seems like depending on the weekend you will have a different event to check out. Farmers markets, music in the park, arts festivals. The only don't side is that most of the water fountains and fixtures are not working. Definitely a bummer since it has been so hot. Overall 4/5

Yelp
If you could only visit one park in the city of Denver this is the one I would recommend. City Park really lives up to its name in having all the things you associate with a big parks in a metropolitan area. The Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are both located in City Park. The park also features lots of beautiful old growth trees, couple duck ponds. The park and the surround neighborhoods are kept very nice. Very clean. I've not seen any encampments or dump sites. I've never felt unsafe.

Yelp
What an incredible park! By far the best park in all of Denver. One of the best views of the skyline and downtown I've seen in my 25 years of living in CO. Great waking trails and bike paths as well. Also a lot of recreational activities here like going on the lake, volleyball, and the zoo is right here too! Best park ever. 10/10
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
The city park is Denver's premier regional park, which contains major attractions of the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and faculties like tennis courts, horseshoes, baseball, football and soccer fields, picnic areas etc. There are two lakes for wild ducks and swan boats, with quite a few walking trails around.
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
I visited the park for a birthday party. The playgrounds were fun for the kids and there was plenty of shade on a hot day. The port-o-potties received overwhelmingly positive feedback on how clean they were, which was a shocker. The duck pond was nearby and was also fun to check out.
google avatar

Yelp
Nature Play at City Park is truly fantastic. Four acres within the park devoted to nature and activities. Great wooden sculptures mimicking the dioramas of the museum next door. Wildflowers. A stream. Winding paths. Innovative playgrounds. Our grandchildren had a blast. It was one of our best experiences with them. Kudos to Denver Parks and to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
I don this the cultural park of the city as it houses the science museum and zoo. It also has a few monuments and sculptures. I like how the paths wind a bit. The path gets a little narrow near the zoo and it is more like a sidewalk outside the park. On the southern section you will find a nice "lake" and open fields. When biking near the zoo and museum, one needs to be extra aware of car traffic trying to park and exit.

Souzana V.

Yelp
Whenever I'm close by and can stop here for a walk, I love doing so. I was able to spend an hour walking here with a friend after a nice lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
During my 24 hour visit to Denver, I visited City Park. It is a 330 acre vast area having well manicured park areas and two lakes. One of the lakes has ducks and a central tree that houses birds. It is very relaxing and peaceful walking around the large expanse of spaces. If you are looking for an escape from city hustle bustle or a few hours escape from life's rat race, this place is a must. It has the recipe for a mental tonic to calm all of your senses.

Yelp
We loved hanging out at City Park. It's quite large and frankly beautiful! Whether enjoying the water, walking, jogging, laying in the grass, playing with kiddos at the playground, or just people watching....this is one great place!

Yelp
City park is such a large park you can spend hours walking around. There is a big lake. Lots of birds everywhere. Statues, fountain and a trail. Lack of trash cans and dog bags tho. Street parking only which can be hard too

Yelp
Gotta love Colorado and its outdoor space. There's literally a billion park in this state, it's amazing. I'm visiting from Nashville and I'm in love with the outdoors in Denver. After spending an afternoon at the Denver museum of nature & science, I strolled my way out to city park which is conveniently located nearby. City park has soooo much green space, it's unbelievable. Great for picnics, playground for games and the lakeside trail offers amazing views. Sat at the park, met some locals, had a few toasts and chilled out while watching the beautiful sunset. Having been to a few parks in Denver, this one is my favorite for sure.
google avatar

Stacy P.

Yelp
Amazing park. I'm on a quest to visit every park Denver has to offer, and this is the best of the best! Wonderful trails from the museum to a mile or so west, a huge pond, and a view of the zoo. If you hit the parts by the museum there are also some art installations to check out. Tons of fun summer events, many picnic areas... pretty much everything you could ask for in a city park.
google avatar

Lawrence M.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in City Park which is not only incredibly large but undeniably stunning! Whether we were enjoying the calm waters, going for a leisurely stroll, a refreshing run, a splash on the green grass, a sporting excursion variety in the park, or just hanging out with some people watching, this place stood out as a truly unique place to go.

Yelp
Very nice park with bike trails, a lake, zoo, museums, and fields to play in. Lots of statues and fountains while you can overlook the city. Definitely a place to come and visit
google avatar

Yelp
Clean, quiet park except for the sounds of the geese (there's a LOT around the park). There were not many people, a dozen or so joggers and a few people walk here and there. This might be because it's morning on a Saturday, because it's the Saturday after New Years, or because it's cold (under 40 degrees). Maybe a combination of any of those. It was nice having a lot space to ourselves.

Yelp
The Largest Park in Denver Hey, welcome to the largest park in Denver. City Park is a whopping 330 acres, and each acre is being put to good use. The Denver Zoo and Museum of Nature and Science are both located inside. The scenery is simply amazing. Make sure to check out the Thatcher Memorial Fountain. It's breathtaking!

Yelp
No matter the time of year, a stroll through City Park makes the day just a little bit better. Kind of like a glass of milk - it does a body good. Washington Park is for the young people, with the volleyball nets and soccer fields. City Park is for the more mature folks who appreciate power walking, jogging, or taking a bike ride. Plus it's fun to discover the attractions along the way, including the Zoo and Museum of Nature and Science. Not to mention the various sculptures and memorials and gardens within. On a clear day the views of downtown and the mountains in the distance make anyone - locals and tourists alike - stop and take notice. Denver really is a metropolitan city at the foot of the Rockies. No better way to illustrate the point. When's the last time you enjoyed City Park?
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
Great park and starting April 1, 2022 the swan paddle boats are back! 2 lakes on the property and AMPLE parking on the road throughout the park.
google avatar

Dobbey G.

Yelp
Awesome public tennis courts. Lots of them and well lit. Only problem is that they're always busy and it can be hard to get a court.
google avatar

Yelp
City Park is Denver's larger park. It is a great place to walk around, exercise, have fun, play sports, bring your dog. You name it. On Sundays, during summer, jazz in the park is a great event to attend. Schedule is posted online regarding artists and activities. Arrive early and secure a good spot. Bring a picnic. Lots of volleyball happening too. Join a team. Hang with strangers. People are mad friendly. Overall, City Park is a must visit when in the mile high city. Dont miss out!
google avatar

Ed T.

Yelp
Very large park - it was nicer than I expected and a great place for a stroll. I didn't give myself enough time to explore everything but would go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful & clean park. Great stop for visitors to the area. I wish the boat house had been open to rent a swan! Would be a great loop to ride an electric scooter.

Yelp
City Park in Denver is a huge (I've read it is around 330 acres) park that has something for everyone. We spent the majority of our visit in the playground area. The City Park playground consists of numerous wooden structures, slides, swings, tunnels and gazebos. My daughter met two friends while playing and the three of them started an epic game of hide and seek. There were so many places for them to crawl, climb, hide and run. They could easily move between each structure. About the only thing she needed help with was getting on the swings (they were a little too big for her). Surrounding the playground is a wide open field, perfect for playing soccer, baseball, football or any other sport that requires empty space. During our visit, there were geese roaming around this area. My daughter decided to play follow the leader with them. Afterwards we headed over to the lake in the park and spent some more time observing some of the animals the park is home to. City Park also includes the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo. We noticed a number of flower gardens, picnic areas, historical markers, hiking spots and a boat area in the park as well. Essentially, as I opened this review with, there is something for everyone here. If you have kids, are into the outdoors or want to find a nice peaceful place for lunch, check out City Park. It is well worth it.

Yelp
This park is pretty lackluster. Not much other than grass, not very populated. I prefer Sloans or Wash Park.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
This park is just beautiful! We came here to Walk for Congenital Heart Disease, Find the Cure. Located at 17th and York, there's a good amount of parking. Trails wind around statues and ponds full of geese, views of the mountains. Check it out!
google avatar

Yelp
City Park is large park within the city to Denver. If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while without going too far, this is a good spot. We saw a lot of dogs and joggers here. This park is also home to the Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. It doesn't have a whole lot of trees, but there are plenty of open fields, random statues, and a huge lake. The lake was partially frozen when we came in winter, so that was pretty cool.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
So what's exciting about this beautiful park? Historical location of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Denver Zoo, and Denvers first high school East to start. Filled with Beautiful historical monuments, Ferril and Duck lake, and boat pavilion. Relax on the grass and kick back and enjoy a nice picnic. North of the park is The City golf course and still one of the best places to play a few rounds- Definitely one of Denver's gems to check out if you'r a transplant or just visiting.

Yelp
Since my office is just across the street, most of my visits to City Park are during my lunch hour for relaxing on a bench or my picnic blanket with my lunch and a book. For those that want to be more active in this park, you certainly have a wide variety of activities to try within these 330 acres. Beyond running around the 5K trail circling the park, you can play tennis, play horseshoes, or play on the playground. You could also rent a paddle boat to ride around the lake or take a lakeside stroll along the paved path. You can rent the pavilion and get married there! Or you can learn something new from the educational statues and signage found around the park or at the Museum of Nature and Science or the Denver Zoo located on the property. My very favorite view of Denver is looking West from the park towards downtown and the mountains beyond. I also love to hear the peacocks at the zoo scream unexpectedly. Whatever you're into, you'll probably find it at City Park.

Yelp
My wife and I were here on a vacation from Minneapolis and we decided to take a walk around the lake. The walk was a great 1.5 mile walk around with a great view of grass, which you don't see in normal cities. There was a cool Latin America festival getting ready for the day. It looked like a bunch of great food was being prepared for the day. We only stayed for a walk around the lake, but it seems like a great place to take a run or walk if we lived here.

Yelp
Oh City Park, I may not visit you often, but you sure know the way to my heart. With so much to offer the discerning park connoisseur how can you not love it?! From boating, the occasional 5k, paths to be used for running, jogging, biking, walking, you name it! Not to mention hosting the occasional wedding! You're sure to find something for you happening or to do at City Park. Heck it's a park! Bring a picnic, a book, and just lounge on it's lovely lawns! City Park is definitely well maintained and a jewel in our beautiful city. The only thing that I find frustrating at City Park is the ease of access: not all of the entrances are always open. It can be very confusing to navigate the roads within it too! I may have driven on a bike path a time of two without realizing it... **Caution: City Park is also home to many geese. With the geese comes their poop! You've been warned.
google avatar

Diane G.

Yelp
What a great park right near downtown Denver. There is a pond with a big fountain in the middle which you can walk around. There is Jazz in the Park on weekends during the summer, the Denver Zoo is there and the Denver Museum of nature and science. There are tennis courts, a walk/jog path; Horse shoe pictures and plenty of green grass to work out play soccer etc. etc. etc.
google avatar

Christian B.

Yelp
In a past review, I said that Washington park was the largest Denver park Ive been in, Well, now I have to correct myself and say that City park is definitely the largest one. Built in 1886, City park was the answer to the city of Denver residents request for a large urban park. This park is so large that it encompasses the Denver Zoo and the Denver museum of Nature and Science plus two lakes. Although not as full as Washington Park , there was an abundance of physically fit minded people walking, jogging and biking. There is also many fun activities that can be had on the lake or on the playgrounds or on the grassy areas. Fun for everyone at City Park!
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
Really beautiful park, but it seemed kind of sleepy to me. Not much going on except some kids running through a fountain and some geese wandering around. I saw that they have boat rentals but I didn't actually see anyone out on the lake - maybe I just came on a slow day. I like that there is a lot of open grass area though - on a nice day, you can just sit out there, have a picnic, and laze around in the sun.
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
Large gorgeous park with lakes, geese, flowers, tables, playground, etc. Spent a good amount of time soaking up the sun & walking barefoot on the lush grass.
google avatar

Yelp
A really nice park in the heart of Denver. The museum and the Denver zoo are in this same park. So there's a bunch to do while you're here. We came a couple of times on our vacation to Colorado. The trees are beautiful here. Park is nice and clean. Didn't see any litter. Parking is pretty simple and easy to find. You can go to hang out or just throw the football as we did. Highly recommend having a picnic here. It's the perfect spot.

Yelp
About City Park (from Wikipedia): "City Park is an urban park and neighborhood in Denver, Colorado. The park is 330 acres (130 ha) and is located in east-central Denver. The park contains the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Ferril and Duck Lakes, and a boathouse. City Park is also the name of the neighborhood that contains the park, though the park is the vast majority of the neighborhood. To the immediate north of the park is the City Park Golf Course. City Park is the largest and most notable park in Denver." I was visiting Denver and decided that I wanted to go to Voodoo Doughnuts. I realized that if I walked a bit further, I could go see the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. To get to the museum, you must go through the park. It was quite a hot day and I had walked so far already so I had to sit down for a bit. I wish they had more benches. Water in the park means geese/ducks and their poop. Tried to avoid as much of it as I could on the walkway. I love how the park is the home to both the zoo and the museum - makes it easy for tourists. I notice they have a number of drives through the park that visitors can use. Alot better than my home park!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
The playground at City Park is a community-built wooden play area, and it's also known as "Dustin Redd playground". It is large and fun but is showing its age. A plan to replace the old-fashioned playground with a modernistic "civic space" was dropped in 2014. If you're curious to discover more of greater Denver's spectacular play areas, download the iPhone app "Denver Playgrounds & Parks" on the App Store!

Yelp
This City Park is huge! If you plan on visiting the Denver Zoo or the Nature & Science Museum, you will pass through this park. I love that you do not have to pay an admission/ parking fee to come here. There are plenty of shady trees that you can sit under for a little nap or read a book. Plenty of green grass that you can take your dogs for a walk and play (no unleashed area at this park though). This park is really clean and is safe. There is a great playground for the kids (or the kid in you) to play. A beautiful large lake here as well. I can see this place as a wonderful backdrop for photo shoots in case you are looking for a location. But do have to mention to beware of the geese. They are everywhere and seem used to being around people. They also are not afraid of cars either as we were behind 2 really slow ones in the road as we were driving around looking for a parking spot. This is a great park that is perfect for the whole family. Bring a picnic and make a fun afternoon of it if you have no plans for the day.
google avatar

Yelp
Dear Denver City Park, I love the way your tree leaves turn to pretty autumn colors when September comes. I love the way the snow turns you into a winter wonderland. I love the way spring gives you flowers and the sun shines your greenness back to life with the happy geese swimming on the pond and the happy Denver folks having picnics or running or riding their bikes throughout the park. I especially love that you are in close proximity to the Denver Zoo and the Nature & Science Museum and a couple of minutes away from downtown. Sincerely Your Fan, Cintya P. :D

Yelp
I love how big this park is. I don't love stepping in a big pile of goose poop. I love how you can find a shady spot under a huge tree for a picnic. I don't love how I have to sit on top of goose poop. My dog loves walking around the lake. My dog loves eating the goose poop. City Park is quite picturesque. City Park is also filled with goose poop.
