CITY PENSION BERLIN

I booked a single room for two nights and haven’t had any big expectations as the hotel is on a cheaper side. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The receptionists were extremely welcoming and helpful, the room was clean with a renovated bathroom and the location is great - you need around 15 minutes to get to the main train station. I’d stay here again because it’s definitely worth the money.

The hotel is located fairly close to the city centre. 10 minutes by S, and you are in Berlin Central railway station. Rooms are a bit outdated and have a tired look, but if you are here to sleep only, it's absolutely fine. Food in the morning is a cold buffet, and I was fine with it.

Great place. It's old and relatively worn down, but it's not so bad and it's clean. The pillows could be more firm, but the mattresses are great, the room was big (double with private bathroom), the breakfast sufficient, and the location great. The view from the hotel was nothing to write home about, but it's a cosy little place, and as the title said I would stay again. Also, the receptionists were very friendly, especially Galina who is a bundle of joy.

I lioved this hotel. The staff were great and so friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The bed very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom with shower was perfect. The breakfast was very satisfying and plenty. The hotel is located in an excellent position with the S bahn across the road and the U bahn just down the road. There are plenty of restaurants close by albeit a little expensive. Just around the corner by the 109 bus stop is a great little cafe serving cappuccino for €1 with a big dollop of cream and lovely cakes especially the macaroons at €0.50 great. Worth a try.

At first, the lady (older) at the reception was not willing to speak English via phone - had to ask assistance from a friendly stranger to translate. Interestingly, she could speak good English when we arrived at the reception desk. Otherwise, the lady (younger) working in the kitchen was really friendly and helpful. Overall, clean rooms, good breakfast, quiet place, fair price, and it is close to Berlin-Charlottenburg train station.

Don’t let yourself get scared off by the somewhat suspicious entry. The doors are locked and staff is there 24/7 so one feels perfectly safe when entering the hall way from the late 19th century. |The hotel has quite a flair with old drapes, high ceilings, huge old windows and long corridors. ||Some things were broken in my room and fixed with silver tape but it was very clean, the bed very good and hot water in the shower. My room was quiet and had a ok size for a single room. Basic but well cared for. ||As many has written before me, the breakfast is really nice with many alternatives and the location perfect.||I’ll definitely return.

A great basic hotel. Very comfortable bed with clean sheets. Fantastic breakfast & excellent Wi-Fi. Hot water in shower and sink comes instantly. ||The staff is most courteous and helpful. The owner (Galina) has run this place for 18 years. Great crew.||All forms of public transportation are right there: across the street, around the block--can't say enough about the convenience of the location! (Ditto with places to eat).

UPDATE on City Pension Berlin where I have stayed when I was in Berlin each summer since 2012. II did miss a year or so, but on my return to Berlin this summer, I was very warmly greeted by the staff. They are all terrific!! All the wonderful aspects of the Pension are still there, though I never doubted that they wouldn't be. The Pension is very clean, the rooms are great, the breakfast is varied and excellent. ||Of course, the location is still very convenient. Both the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn are right nearby. The bus to the airport is a very short walk from the Pension. ||There is a variety of restaurants within walking distance. Just ask the staff for a recommendation! ||Around the corner you'll find banks and a shopping mall with whatever you might need. You can't go wrong at the City Pension Berlin! You'll enjoy your stay!
