City Suites Hotel

This hotel made our stay feel nice and cozy! Although the floors squeaked, it was still fabulous. Elena was so helpful along with the other staff with the best restaurants in the area. I especially loved that the hotel is next to the metro station! It is in a fantastic area and walking distance to many great restaurants and bars. Our favorites nearby were the: Chicago Bagel Authority and Stan’s Donuts for breakfast! Have to also check out Giordano’s for some fantastic deep-dish pizza!

The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. Mattress was a little firm, but I have back issues so take that with a grain of salt. My son and I attended a hockey game at Wrigley (yep), and this hotel was perfect for our needs. Great location!

There are also many restaurants and everything you could need within walking distance.|Check in was easy and there is an elevator.|There was 24 hour coffee in the lobby and a microwave. There were 2 refrigerators in the King Suite...one as a very affordable mini bar and another for leftovers from Chicago deep dish leftovers! (delivered)|The hotel was directly next to the train, but train noise was not an issue. (We did check and the train to ORD was 1hr. and 21 mins.)|The rooms are heated by radiators, which work perfectly and the air conditioning is in the wall and controlled by the room occupant.|The bathroom/shower was newly remodeled and loved the bright light!|The bed was pillow top and super comfortable!|There was parking available but we used spot hero easily.|||Disliked · It was a wonderful stay. Maybe an easy quick to grab breakfast item would have been helpful? Although I recommend going to Ann Sather restaurant before 3pm. Dropping off luggage was a challenge before parking, but the second time around the block, no problem.

Classic hotel with great updates, and perfect location near Wrigley, Halsted, and more. Target, Starbucks, Ann Sather all in one block radius, as well as Belmont station to hop on Brown, Red and Purple lines (yet absolutely zero train noise in room). Elena and her team were excellent hosts.

Went to a late show at The Vic and booked a room at City Suites a couple months before the event. I chose City Suites solely based on location and wasn’t expecting anything other than a place to sleep and shower. I will say my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Pros - Secure hotel, you need a room key or to be let in by front desk. - Cute trendy lobby, helpful front desk. - Clean unique rooms, it seemed like a renovated apartment (couldn’t find history on the building, but wouldn’t be surprised) We had a suite and it was plenty of space. Comfortable bed. - Quiet hotel, supposedly they had no vacancy that night but I felt like the only one staying there. Heard nothing from adjacent rooms or hallway, though we were top floor corner room. - Walking distance to The Vic, bars and restaurants. Cons - No on site parking, parking is available at public garages. We paid a flat fee $27 for one night at The Vic parking garage around the corner. - Squeaky floors, we were on the top floor so I hope if there was anyone below us it wasn’t too bothersome. - Street noise but not as bad as I would have thought. You can barely hear the train or regular traffic. Sirens and sometimes talking on the street you can hear, still earplugs or white/brown noise not a bad idea. - Cold bathroom. Bathroom has large window and it was pretty chilly in the morning, also very very low water pressure from the shower. And keep the bathroom door closed or the morning light will spill in. Overall it was a great hotel for the one night and exactly what we needed for our first ever overnight stay in Chicago. I would definitely stay again!

This is actually a pretty nice hotel and great value. I recommend being on the top floor since the building is a little old and you might hear neighbors above. The pillows and the bed were very comfortable.

Went to Chicago to move our daughter into an apartment that was a block away, so location was ideal. Room suited our needs, though the shower curtain rod looked ready to come out of the wall. Staff was courteous and helpful, if not overly friendly. Kudos to the overnight guy who helped us find gluten-free pizza at 1am 👌 Building infrastructure definitely has some years on it, but still functional even though it's a little dated. Again, great location, tons of bars and restaurants to choose from, Vic Theatre right around the corner. Would stay here again.

No real complaints here! The room was comfortable and the location was ideal (right next to a train station). Right in the thick of the neighborhood. Front desk service was weak and not particularly helpful or enthusiastic, but I'm self-sufficient and don't need 'em much anyway.

This is a very difficult place to rate, and how much you enjoy this place will depend on what you spent and what your expectations are. Just keep in mind that it is basically a 1-2 star hotel I stayed here for the Winter Classic, so they were charging a good 3-4x normal price, but everyone was doing that, so I'll give them a pass. So first the positive of the place: location. It is steps from the L, one stop away from Addison station (Wrigley). It is also really close to the Vic. If you don't feel like waiting for the train, it's about a 15 min walk to Wrigley. Now the negatives - some of the rooms face the alley, very little natural light. They heat/cool the place with radiators and an A/C unit that is too high to reach, so you have very little control over the temp. Like a lot of 1-2 star places, there is a strong smell of cleaner in the room. The elevator says it has a capacity of 3, but it feels more like should be a capacity of 1. Just expect to need to go up stairs. Oh, and they don't have their own garage. If you're expecting a red roof, you'll be pleased. It isn't fancy, but it is kept up and everything seemed to work - especially the hot water. If you're expecting a nicer chain hotel, you will be disappointed. It's an old building and they can only do so much with that layout.

I went to a event at the Annoyance Theatre so this was the perfect place to stay since it's literally down the street. A very spacious room, comfortable bed, a great bathroom and a suite atmosphere. I stayed on the third floor on a busy weekend in June with a room at the front of the hotel so I could hear street noise but nothing that kept me from getting to sleep. Option to order room service from a delivery place with a big menu. Complimentary water, tea and coffee in the lobby. A map of nearby restaurants to eat nearby including Ann Sather's down the street. Try the cinnamon rolls! Tiny lobby but some seating. The room was very comfortable. Full length mirror, multiple art pieces, a couch and chair with two tvs. Comfy bed and multiple pillows, bedding that was cozy. Pen and paper. Refrigerator. Cozy robes. Nice shower with amenities. Little shop across the street. Right next to the train which is so convenient! Lots of entertainment, food, bars and shops within steps since it's Halsted. I will be returning since it's such a good location.

Staying here might make you miss the Howard Johnson. We have been here several times and they are obviously not sharing the increased rates with the housekeeping staff. The new housekeepers must use a blow dryer to air-clean the bathroom versus cleaning agents and cloths. The pillowcases had makeup (hopefully) and hair on them, so I can only imagine what other DNA lay between the sheets. I contacted the housekeeping department for assistance, only to be greeted by the rudest and most combative supervisor. This establishment used to have immaculate rooms and exceptional service. However, their recent changes and staff attitudes do not deserve your business.

Loved both my stays here. It's right near the L and easy to navigate the city. Got a spacious room the first time and hung out in my robe all night. The coffee was good and they have access to a sick gym around the corner. Cool vibes.

I LOVED this place so much. i visited chicago for the first time in april, and wanted to stay near some trains, vintage shops, a bar, and lots of easy vegan restaurants. I needed transportation to be simple, since I wasn't going to be driving myself, but also didn't want to learn a city's complete public transportation system in a week, either. I ask needed a safe area, since I was traveling alone. lastly, affordable, if not cheap! City Suites checked all my boxes. it's right on the cusp of Boystown, close to a Target for all the things you forgot, and within a block or two of coffee, a dive bar, pizza, bagels, sandwiches, a natural grocery, lots of thrift shops, sushi, and even Chicago Diner. I didn't have to think twice about being vegan, since everything was just right there. I felt safe walking a block to the dive bar, grabbing a pizza at night, or an uber. the hotel employees were beyond kind. they greeted me every entrance and exit, and always answered my silly tourist questions. I stayed on the top (4th) floor, in a corner room. it was plenty big, large bed, big mirror, lots of space for clothes, and a decent sized bathroom. it would be great for a couple, and would probably work with a little kid, too. three adults would be too much in the room I was in. there was unexpected snow when I stayed, so I turned up the heat, and the tiny thing heated the entire room. the shower got scorching hot, because texans do not handle snow and the cold. so I needed the heater and the wicked hot shower. lol the view was cute, and I got to watch the trains go by, and they were weirdly quiet. I slept right through them. next time I visit chicago, I won't even look at another place to stay, because i'll just book City Suites again.

My boyfriend and I went here for a quick two day trip, and it was awesome. Parking sucks literally everywhere in chicago but there was parking right by the hotel and there is great food 3 mins away.

Stayed for one night no issues. If you're a little baby who expects a resort then you'll have a bad time.

Tub backed up, front desk brought a plunger for us to fix ourselves, never got water to drain. Then at midnight water from 4th floor began running into room. Had to use waste basket to catch water and continually dump, front desk said nothing could be done! Front desk knew all of this and recorded it. After calling 3 times and leaving messages with supervior, Manager never called to make it right. Paid over 500$ to say at a place I couldn't shower at. Had running water though (out of the ceiling)

The price for the room is good, especially considering the location, and I think they've done the best they can with the property they have, including niceties like bathrobes, snacks and wine in the room (for an upcharge), etc. I was concerned to find a half-used soap on the floor of the shower, which makes me wonder how well it was cleaned. Also, the parking pass i was given didn't work for the garage (and even if it had, the $25 isn't much cheaper than the $27 for 24 hours, although the parking pass does give you in and out privileges, theoretically. The Internet also drops about once every five minutes, at least in the room I was staying in, even though the connection itself is decent. I might stay here again because of the location and price, but can't quite recommend it for reasons other than that.

I enjoyed a 3 night stay at the City Suites Hotel of Chicago a few weeks back and have absolutely nothing to say about the hotel. From the moment I checked in the staff was friendly and helpful and the check in process was super easy. The room itself was wonderful and basically featured 2 bedrooms with 2 beds and a couch that turned into a bed. This room features a refrigerator, 2 televisions, and a pretty good heating/air conditioning system. On top of the room being great, they offered free breakfast in the lobby (which I did not take advantage of) along with some tables with legos on it (which I really regret not taking advantage of). Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the City Suites Hotel of Chicago. I will 100% be making this my go-to place to stay in the city and can't wait to come back!

Clean, fresh, modern, hot shower, comfy bed, spatious room... what more do you want? Near the L. We will be back!

City Suites met my criteria for the three C's of a hotel. CLEAN, COMFORTABLE and CONVENIENT! Also, given the fact that it is an older building in a dense area of the city (and feet from an EL stop), I found it amazingly quiet! Two negatives of note. I found the front desk staff (with the exception of a younger woman on the weekend) to be unfriendly. . .not rude, just distant. Secondly, they do not serve breakfast (except for coffee). I understand they did in the past, but discontinued it at some point.

The best part about City Suites is its location. Right by the Belmont Red Line Station, it's in the heart of Lakeview but it's so easy to zip downtown on the El. The hotel is in an older building, probably 100 years old, and it has some old systems like a radiator in the room that hisses and pops every few minutes in the winter, squeaky floors, and low shower pressure. That's not a plus, but in a way it's charming in the way restored old buildings can be. And pretty common for the neighborhood. What was I really took away is the soundproofing (I never heard the El go by despite my room being on the end looking out in the tracks), the vintage/artsy vibe, and the comfy bed. For the price and the location, this place is solid.

I don't have much bad to say about this hotel for the price I paid. To begin, it was clean, cheap, in an ideal location for me, staff was nice, and right across the street from $10 per night parking as well as the L line. The bed was reasonably comfortable, they had quality soap in the shower, and two tvs in the suites for some reason. Now for the bad. Sound insulation isn't great. I could hear the people above me easily. And the train outside a couple times. I'm a solid sleeper so didn't bother or wake me but I could see how it would bother some people. And the toilet paper was literally fine grain sand paper. A seemingly small thing but everything else was such a high quality it struck me as odd that that's where they would count pennies. Anyway, other than that it was a fine stay for one night for the price. Just be sure to use the spot hero app to park in that cheap lot.

This review is based on my experience last night when I couldn't find a cab in a snowstorm and it was getting pretty late for a ride back to the South Side on the El. I walked in and asked the desk clerk's advice on where to find a cab; he offered to call one for me and said to wait in the lobby, which I did, during which time I got to see what a cool old building this is. The cab came and all was well. I appreciate this kind of generosity and now I'm even more intrigued by the place's appearance than I was when I first saw it from the outside, years ago. It's in a great location that doesn't seem touched by the posh uglification that has enveloped Wrigley Field a few blocks north. I'd book in for the weekend just to enjoy it, but the cat would complain about my absence.

No coffee in the entire hotel. Even though unlimited free coffee is listed directly on website. When I questioned the front desk he said it was because covid....????? Nothing advertised on the website is accurate. I want a refund for the $20 we had to spend on coffee down the street. Look at the view from our room too.

The place is in a very good spot for food and nightlife, the rooms aren't terrible, however very few commodities and far too expensive for the quality of the stay, much better options nearby with similar pricing, all in all wont be back. As a side note, lost my airpods here and staff was of no help, I called and they told me they needed to wait until housekeeping cleaned to get back to me, I called back hours later to find that housekeeping still hadn't been in, it wasn't until I went in personally, that an employee finally checked. Shoutout to Noah he was of tremendous help and was a great employee, much love for him.

Hotel is close to where I need to be in the morning. Hallway smells like antiseptic cleaner. The room smells like stale potato chips. The room is small not at all suite-esque. The Belmont L station is right outside my window. I can wave at people on the platform and clearly hear the conductor announcing the stop. The price point was under $200/night but I'm not sure it's worth the $160 plus parking and taxes. The parking is around the corner - no valet... they give you a little QR code on a key chain that you have to drive back to the hotel when you leave the garage. There are snacks for sale and Five Rivers bottles of wine in the room for $15/bottle. Looks like there's plenty of restaurants in the area. It's going to be a noisy night - truth be told, I'd been better off getting up earlier and driving into the city. Oh well it's an experience.

Good choice if you want to walk to a Cubs game @ Wrigley Field. If you're not planning to go walk to a Cubs game, there are better hotel options in Chicago - particularly for the cost. The rooms are a little worn - not terrible but not in line with the cost. The breakfast is adequate, if think that a frozen Jimmy Dean English muffin with sausage & egg and a microwave oven is a hot breakfast. There are limited cold breakfast options also. Would I stay there again? Only if I wanted to walk to a Cubs game.

Booked this hotel for our Valentines trip in Chicago. When we made the reservation we added in a early check in, we arrive and there is absolutely no one in the lobby, my husband waits for about 20 minutes and still no one is there to check us in. We start to call the number on the emailed reservation confirmation and no one answers, until finally 10 minutes later. A woman answers the phone and she is ridiculously rude, saying "she was just upstairs for a second, and that we can check in" and hangs up on me. We check in and we continue to receive horrible customer service. At least the small room is clean, and the location of the hotel is close to everything we planned for our trip, the restaurants nearby are amazing, and plenty of nightlife. Our keycard stopped working during our stay and the woman at the desk was very rude again, telling us to keep it off our wallets and phones since it's magnetic. The room was stocked with snacks and drinks which were nice after getting back to the hotel late, but what was not nice was the man who was checking us out on Sunday morning. He went to go check our room, and said alcohol and water was missing from the bar. Which we did not touch as neither of us drink at all. So we had to argue about him charging us for that, and on top of it all apparently they charged us wrong for the room in general, and it took 20 minutes for the man to figure out what to do about the deposit and the parking fees. This was one of the worst hotel experiences and I will not be staying ever again. Save yourself the trouble.

Stayed here when traveling for a Cubs game at Wrigley. The location is great for that! Parking was only $27 in a nearby ramp and it's walking distance to the field! The rooms are definitely outdated with outdated appliances, but the price is perfect. Even the in room snacks were a decent price. Still no coffee/tea amenities, but what do you do ‍? The beds were pretty comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again for another Cubs game!

Unfortunately we had to stay here yet again because it was close to where we needed to be. This area has gotten very seedy and shady in the last couple of months. Accosted by homeless people twice. Didn't feel safe here at all. The rooms need an extreme update. I think management has just given up quite frankly. See the attached photos of the type of maintenance done here. Apparently tissue stuffed into gaps is the solution Saw people in the lobby without masks on also. Absolutely won't be back no matter the convenience.

My mother and I were very happy with our stay at City Suites. City Suites is in a very old building but rooms are kept up well and very clean. It was as expected for an old building - some creaky floorboards and old heaters were a little noisy. The snacks and drinks in the room that you can buy were very convenient. Would stay again.

This is a horribly run cute hotel. When I checked in the front desk a man told me that I was wrong and he had a record of them constantly telling me they hold 100 dollars on your card. He said they a record of them telling me. I had a letter from the manager stating I only had to do 50. I had stayed several times and never had incidents. Fast forward the authorization is still on my card and the woman at the front desk told me the manager is away and ill just have to wait til the authorization falls off. All i need is the approval code and merchant code. This is unacceptable and no hotel would ever tell me that. They are very rude when you ask for anything and keep your money. If u want a cute place with zero customer service that cost you three times the amount advertised then go.

Place stinks like raw sewage. Rooms stink even worse. Hotel is extremely overpriced. Parking is a block away. Staff is nice but i cant not get over the stench that plagues this place

Affordably paying for a great location. This hotel is in a super neighborhood. Two of my friends live within blocks, so it was the perfect for a weekend stay. Over Saturday and Sunday night over NYE, we paid less than $500 for the two nights for a standard queen room. These were premium rates, for this weekend. The room was old, but clean and upgraded as much as they can possibly without major remodeling. The hallways, were not in the same shape but they have signs up saying they are working on it. Parking is available at a lot near by that they have an agreement with for $25 a day. The snacks and mini bar in the room are so reasonable, we just went to town on them. No holding back, and totaled, the bill was just under $20 for multiple beers, waters, snacks and candy! This was a major plus for us, didn't need to leave the hotel to buy this stuff. However, i would say, most of the amenities they list on their website are not nearly as accountable. Every time i checked, the coffee was gone from the "free breakfast". Afternoon cookies, same thing. I asked for the sewing kit they advertised, realizing i had a hole in my dress right as we were leaving, not something they have. I didn't try to go the gym they partner with nearby, but i am nervous after these experiences. Overall, the room was clean, affordable and exactly where we needed it to be for our trip. We plan on coming back.

The building is old and needs a little sprucing up but what it may lack in updated style it definitely makes up for with their staff who made my stay welcoming and exceptional from the moment I arrived. My flight arrived at noon in Chicago and when I got to the hotel, before check-in time the room was already done and ready for me and Basanta could not have been nicer or more accommodating. When I got to the 4th floor Eva the housekeeper for the 4th floor introduced herself and told me to let her know if I needed anything. Being such a small hotel it was refreshing to have such personal service the entire time I was there. Even at checkout Jackie at the front desk was happy to store my bags as I went out to run a few errands before my flight. From the moment I got there to the moment I left the entire staff was exceptional. Each and every one of them. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

The City Suites Hotel is conveniently located in the Lakeview area a few blocks from Wrigley Field. It's surrounded by 24 hour restaurants, punky dance bars, rock n roll concert venues all situated in a bustling, and often Inebriated, part of Chicago's youthful north side. It's no surprise then that noise may might be a problem for hotel customers , especially for those staying in rooms like mine that, as many of them do, face an alley with significant nighttime foot traffic. Of course this could be touted by the hotel chain as a romantic opportunity to be fully engulfed in modern Chicago sound and color. In the wee hours of the night I can hear what could have been the old world 'ding - dong' of the town chapel calling congregants to early morning prayer, a ringtone of sorts which has been repurposed as the Belmont subway platform notification announcing to waiting passengers that the "A-train to the Loop" is pulling in. The rear view also lets hotel guests witness, firsthand, how local folks discuss the issues of the day while they bang around in alley side garbage dumpsters at 3 AM looking for god knows what? Based on what I overheard, through a closed window no less, I now know where to procure illegal substances guaranteed to " send my ass home", whatever that means. Naturally I never would. At approximately 2 AM I was shocked awake by a loud debate going on in the hallway. Something about " I said I don't got your shoes in my suitcase ... I told you that!" Because the hallways were designed and decorated before the invention of sound deadening acoustic materials, and in concert with the fact that the room doors hang a good 3 inches above the century old door jams,conversations, such as the one about the location of the gentleman's shoes, resonate with the brilliance and clarity of a high-end surround sound system. Turning lemons to lemonade,I would promote this problem as a nostalgic selling point and encourage guests appreciate the building's ancient character. (Sort of like touring the Roman Colosseum or opening a package of Hostess Twinkies). Of course, the most charming feature of this glorious old hotel is the klaxon of staccato clanging, like Old Faithful, each morning at 5:30 AM. Like percussionists tuning their instruments, the radiators come to life in a cacophony of pitch, duration and loudness that sullies forth until, in unison, they pound out their rendition of Steam Heat from the classic musical, The Pajama Game! (also a renowned Pointer Sisters cover). "I got bang bang hisssss steam heat!" With this, the hotel marketers have a gigantic sales opportunity. Not only can it be promoted as a lesson in physical science for inquisitive kiddos, it also has massive appeal for those customers who long for simpler times in the days before the dawning of silent radiant heat. (This goes goes double for any HVAC groups planning conventions in town). There's so much more to say andI'd like to offer more praise about this little neighborhood gem but I have to rush off now to meet a fellow who has offered to help me better understand what 'sending my ass home' is all about.

If you like rooms with paper thin walls, staff who doesn't communicate and hates their job, and sweeping brick wall vistas out your window this place is for you. Although I will say it is super convenient being this close to the El train, it was not always helpful hearing every announcement from the train platform, not to mention the sound of the train being in your room as it rolled in and out of the station. That's not all, you get to hear all your neighbors, and anyone in the hallway loud and clear as an added bonus! It is always nice to be greeted by a staff who obviously doesn't want to be working at a hotel and doesn't communicate between themselves. Upon checkin I was obviously bothering the person behind the desk by asking them to get my key. Then, when I asked to extend my checkout by an hour, the night person at the front desk decided not to communicate that to anyone, so the added sleep I was hoping for was out the window as my phone rang and door banged by staff trying to kick me out... I do have to give one extra star as they do have free internet which is relatively fast and they do have free breakfast, even if it very basic. If you are looking for a cheep party hotel to crash at after a night of heavy drinking this is the place for you, otherwise, best to avoid!

City Suites is a fairly small, but affordable, boutique hotel. That said, I think boutique is just fancy speak for old. It's not that things are run down per se, it's just definitely not modern and has some quirks as a result. My room was spacious enough, had two mini fridges (one empty, and one filled with reasonably priced beverages and snacks), two LCD TV's and a comfortable bed. However, it also had uneven floors, older furniture, noisy steam heating and certainly didn't do a lot to absorb outside noise. Overall, friendly staff, free continental breakfast (though pretty bare bones), somewhat slow Wi-Fi, and a great location - coupled with affordable rates, it's not a bad place to stay.

Very good service. Beautiful vintage room that looks more like an apt than a generic room. Good location. The breakfast & coffee is good. It's kind of expensive. You pay the same as for Trump Tower. But it's a neighborhood experience. Its party central. It's not the same without The Alley. Ann Sathers is nostalgic for me. My child loves the Belmont Vintage place. The L is right there and you dont hear it. 12 step place very close for all those anonymous meetings that's cute because the stairs say "You're Home". And "Stairway to heaven". It's nice to check out new cafe next door with little terrariums and lots o hipsters. The coffee is curiously strong. The coffee at City Suites is my speed. For all those ppl who dont have kids Berlin is across the street. But what's amazing is that seeing young ppl hold court on the sidewalk at 4 am like its 4 PM. Having fun. I wanted to be in City Suites when I was 17 now the amazing thing, I'm in the room & looking at the sidewalk like that looks like fun.

This inn is located in a very busy stretch on Belmont, so it may not be easy to get lots of sleep here. It is very close to the "L" station so you can get to downtown in minutes. You are surrounded by many restaurants and funky establishments.

I worked a long day and live far for work. Stayed here and the key fob they gave me for the parking garage didn't work on the way in or out of the garage. I was stuck calling for help and was given a hard time. The room was clean comfy and very small for the value of cost. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly. I was late to my appointment for the day. In order to check out you have to turn in the room key and garage key fob, inconvenient by far. Once you get your car out of the garage you have to park on the road and drop it off in the main lobby. For $130 a night plus $25 a night for garage parking wasn't worth it. B&B with garage parking in a private garage in Lincoln Park, Bucktown, or Lakeview is $130 a night and more value with the money.

I live in a small town in Colorado, and this was my first Chicago experience. I found it odd that the parking was so far away, but other than that I thought this hotel was very charming. I loved how old everything is. It's got a lot of character. It is LOUD... but I thought that was cool. I had the window open just to listen to the city. I'd definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel and great location! This is an older building (like many in Chicago), but my room was very clean with modern decor. Regarding amenities: no problem with the wifi, no HBO, the TV did have an HDMI port but no way to select an input on the remote (for those with their own streaming device), breakfast was a basic continental but sufficient. This property is also right next to the "L," which is super convenient but also means that it can be loud for some. I personally had a great stay though and will be back!

We love this hotel. It's old school and as comfy as the free warm chocolate chip cookies they have in the dining room. This is our go-to place in Chicago --we already have reservations for Christmas Day.

If u just need a place to stay, this is a good option. It's very affordable and the location is safe enough. Yes, she ain't the prettiest hotel in Chicago, but she she'll still keep u warm. The rooms are small and my bed was directly across the bathroom door so if I sat up and the door was open, i would have a direct view of the toilet. Some might think this is unseemly, but if u have a sense of humor, it would just be very funny. For the money u save, you can go to a nice dinner and have a good meal in one of chicago's awesome restaurants. It's close to the train, literally a few steps away (very important during the blistering winter season) and also close to Halsted St. in Lakeview for restaurants and going out.

Great location and service from a moderately-priced hotel. You are not staying at the Four Seasons, but you know that going in. Free breakfast provided included coffee/tea, yogurt, sandwiches, pastries, cold cereal plus more. This is a boutique hotel, without central air, but when we entered, our window-boxes of A/C were already blasting at a cool 70 degrees. The staff was polite and helpful. Our room was a few doors away from the elevator. No noises were heard - it was very quiet. The location: practically next door to the L (metro) with three different lines (red, brown, purple). Our commutes to the Chicago stop / Magnificent Mile were about 15-20 minutes; a great stop and meeting spot. Food was all over - even a famous Gioradano's feet away. Not realizing how close we were to Wrigley Stadium, we walked over and caught a Cubs game. Totally worth it! I would recommend this hotel and probably stay here should I visit Chicago again.

I loved my stay at this hotel, but their wi-fi is an absolute joke! fu city suites I am paying enough for a decent connection. I won't be staying here again

I'm sad to report that after reading good reviews and spending over $200 for one night at this hotel, it is permanently on the "never stay there again" list of Chicago hotels. Background story: We were in town to see a famous comedian at The Vic Theatre. I booked this room because it was well-rated 4/5 stars on this site as well as very close to the theatre. The photos looked very nice as well. Here is my detailed list of Positives/Negatives: Positives: Hotel staff - The check-in girl was relatively pleasant. I wouldn't say overly nice, but nice enough. The guy at check-out was cordial, but didn't bother to ask how our stay was. I giggled a little as I would have definitely told him. Cleanliness - The room appeared clean as well as the main areas of the hotel itself. Continental Breakfast - Looked adequate with hard boiled eggs, muffins, microwaveable sandwiches, fruit and beverages. We didn't try it because we were too exhausted from no sleep. Location - If you are going to a show in Lakeview or even a Cubs game location is good and the train station is right there. Blaze Fired Pizza - This place is amazing! Make sure you go there. It's only less than a block away. Negatives (Room 421): Room Temperature: There is NO central air in this hotel, which means that it's hit or miss temperature wise. We were there on an unseasonably warm April day which means that the room was stifling. There is a ceiling fan and you can actually open the window which is good, but it's still just hot city air. And if you have small children, be careful. Our window screen was NOT SECURE! Privacy: Hotel rooms should always feel private! However, this one did not. And maybe that was due to the fact that there was such a gap all the way around our door when shut (and locked) that you could visibly see the ceiling inside our room (or vice versa) from the hallway! I mean the room was lit up all night long because of the hallway light. Also, the L station was extremely close and since we could clearly see the people waiting for the train on the platform, we knew they could see right into our room. And at night with the light on in our room, I again felt completely exposed as there was only one really thick shade that would cut off all fresh air if lowered. Noise: This is the worst room in the entire hotel! There was an old elevator right next to it that was rickety and loud. Also, due to the issue with the door mentioned above, we literally felt like the people in the hallway were passing through our room to get to the elevator. It was so bad, we could even hear the lightest walker going past, let alone the screaming teenage girls that ran up and down the hallway at 3am! Also, due to the room temperature issue mentioned above we tried to keep the window open, except that the L station is so close my husband swore he could see the eye color of the people on the platform! Mind you, I knew it was close when booking, but the fact that there is no A/C and you need the window open to breathe doesn't couple well with this location. Parking: I was thrilled to read on the website that they had a garage very close and it was only $22 a night. However....when we checked in (2 hours post check-in time) we found out that there "normal" garage just around the corner was fully booked and we would have to travel 3-4 city blocks to the parking garage and there was no in/out privileges like the other one and the rate was exactly the same. I'm sorry, but if you aren't offering everyone the same level of service then the cost should be less to those who are further away and with less privileges. Also, we were checking in 2 hours after official check-in time not 8 hours later! TV Channels: The guide in the room was not correct at all and most channels didn't work. This was a very minor thing as I don't rent a hotel room to watch TV, but wanted to note it anyways. Cost: This room costed us over $250/night. I could have booked a REAL 4 STAR hotel on Michigan Avenue for less and been much happier. Overall, I know that I will never return here and can only hope the management reads this and reaches out to me so that I can personally tell them how awful Room 421 is! If they tell you 421 at the front desk, say NO! I promise that you won't be missing out on anything except for zero sleep. Don't stay here even if you need to be close to a venue.

Continental breakfast was nice. Bed comfortable. Convenient location. Rooms clean. Mini bar was a bargain. Here's where they lost points though..... Promised us a suite with 2 separate rooms - we got 2 separate spaces without a door to divide them, which is not what we were promised. Room was very pricey for what it was. Room was right next to the train which made the hotel noisy; however, we were surprised that it did not keep us up at night. The sofa sleeper was incredibly uncomfortable. The staff was never rude, but they weren't really friendly either. We've stayed at other boutique hotels and in comparison for $250, we were expecting a lot better!

20 feet from our window, the Belmont El train stop. The entrance is nice, once u get upstairs the carpets in the hall filthy, the rooms dated, the water pressure weak and the ambience is the train announcers voice every time the door on the train opens and closes. The train arrival and departure not withstanding. Worst hotel stay in my life. Got $200 for a night in Chicago? Spend your money elsewhere

I read the reviews. Curiously divided. Both extremes are correct. It's in a great neighborhood, it's a somewhat charming art deco place surrounded by great restaurants and venues and the employees weren't terrible. But... I'm not sure where they got City Suites" from. It was a tiny room. No climate control I could see. The view from our room was the Belmont L Station and that's not quiet I especially liked the guy screaming at 1am. But here it comes... Parking. They have an exclusive with The Vic parking garage. Not too far, not too inconvenient. Until it's time to leave. I couldn't get out of the garage. The parking pass the hotel gave me wouldn't work. 2 different credit cards I used before and since wouldn't work. The call button wouldn't work. I called and they said a team was on the way. 30 minutes later I was still waiting.

I have been tho this hotel 3 times already and I absolutely love the atmosphere!!!!! The people are nice, the rooms are clean and they have a great continental breakfast. The location is amazing and I love that it is surrounded by night life. The only reason I gave it a 4 was that it was a very cold day and I had asked if there was a way to get the heater going during my trip and unfortunately it was never turned on. But I'd stay there again, maybe not during fall/winter but for sure all other times.

My boyfriend and I stayed here before seeing family for Christmas. Great quality for the price. Maggie was helpful finding vegan restaurants, train stations and even let us check in several hours early (we had taken a red-eye flight). If you're wanting to go out in Boystown, you can walk or take a short Uber to all the clubs and bars. I will stay here again. Une excellente qualité pour le prix ! It was amazing even though I just stayed there for one night. The minute I walked in the room I felt like if I was in Soho NYC, very stylish and modern I loved and it was a 15 minute walk to the baseball stadium.

We chose to stay here in order to attend a concert at Wrigley Field. What a great choice! We arrived with little time to change and leave for the concert. The desk person suggested we just leave our car in the loading zone while we got ready, and move it to parking on out way out. Saved us time! Parking garage was two blocks away but easy to find. Walked to Wrigley in about 15 minutes. The area around the hotel has quite a few restaurants to choose from. It is an older hotel with all the quirks that go along with age, so keep that in mind. But the room was clean and recently updated. One bed was comfortable, but the other sagged a little. The only issue was finding stains on the sheets of one bed in the morning. I think these were rust from metal, but still a little unnerving when I first saw them. I took pictures and showed the desk clerk at check out. He promptly gave me a credit on my rate! Talk about someone who wants to make sure guests are happy. Overall a great place to stay if attending events in the area. PROs - location near Wrigley, nearby restaurants, customer service, clean CONs - Price, a little worn around the edges, inconsistent bed comfort

The good - Great location for restaurants, nightlife and public transportation. The bad - Hallway carpet was thread-worn and had a weird smell, luckily the smell didn't extend into my room. The room was Ok, a bit worn but nothing horrible, there hasn't been any part of my stay that would inspire me to recommend this property to y'all. In general this is a 2 1/2 - 3 star mediocre hotel is a great location.

I stayed here mid December and have to say that overall was very pleased with my experience. The hotel itself is in a great location/proximity to the Belmont L stop (red, purple, & brown lines). Some reviews mention they heard the trains, but this wasn't a problem for me as I didn't hear anything. I booked a double bed suite. The room was very clean and rather spacious in my opinion, with a separate sitting area from the bedroom. I did not partake in the complimentary continental breakfast so I cannot comment on that. My only negative comment is in regards to the front desk staff. I interacted with 3 different ones during my stay, none of which were very friendly. All in all I would definitely stay here again.
