Where to Stay in Dubrovnik: The Best Neighborhoods for Your Visit
"Spread over three floors, I found City Walls Hostel to be an award-winning budget option with a spacious common room, a small but fully equipped kitchen, a basic free breakfast every morning, and coffee and tea available throughout the day." - Matthew Kepnes
Very clean and comfortable hostels. Pricey but it’s kept at a standard that didn’t make the premium feel exploitive.
The rooms don’t have curtains on the windows so bring a face mask if you’re light sensitive

It is an amazing place, very beautiful, clean and in the old town, my only issue was with AC, that was 2 days broken, but they managed to fix it and all good.
Staff was extremely nice and friendly, all of them deserve a 5 star.
It is in the old town, which is very convenient to visit everything you want to visit, but be aware of the stairs hahahaha

This is a great hostel with a lovely team. The negative reviews on here are unfair on this charming and well positioned place to stay. The great team running the hostel are full of local knowledge, information and hints on what to do and see in and out of town.
Yes there are stairs to get to the hostel. This is the nature of the town and will be the case anywhere you go in Dubrovnik. Google maps will take you the shortest route which is the steepest route to the hostel. If you follow the city walls around the sides of town to the hostel, there are less stairs, it is not as steep and easier to get to the hostel.

I enjoyed my stay here. The beds need to be updated since they’re old and a little short: I’m 6 feet and was touching the bed frame. Otherwise, the place is clean, it’s quiet at night, the service is friendly and the bedrooms are air conditioned. One of the few hostels where I slept really well.
Anyone that complains about the stairs is pretty unreasonable. Most AirBnB apartments and hostels inside and out of Grad will require you to walk up a heavy flight of stairs.

This was the best hostel I stayed in on my trip out of many others across Europe. The rooms are beautifully air conditioned, which is hard to find.
There are a lot of stairs as it's a very vertical building but if you're staying in the old town you can't complain 😂
The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Specifically, Anya, she showed us the whole town on a map and gave us a tailored guide on restaurants and sites to see. Her recommendations were great and she was so nice outside of that too.
Just a realy cozy family vibe that is hard to find with hostels. Would absolutely stay here many more nights and urge any hostel goers to stay here!

Staff is fabulous - helpful and friendly
I was in a six bed dorm, had plenty of space, and the bed was comfy enough. The lockers are enormous! The six of us shared one shower, but it didn’t seem to be a problem. The location is nice - in the walls, however it takes a lot of steps to get there.
Note that you can find someone at the taxi queue to bring your bags up for you.

Lovely couple of nights stay here at the City Walls Hostel. Very conveniently located within the old town. Be prepared to walk up a lot of stairs to get to it though. (114 stairs if I remember correctly??)||The staff here go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, recommending the best places to eat, museums to visit and what is worth doing or seeing. They are exceptionally friendly and came across like they were happy to be there.||The rooms come with large storage lockers for your bags, your bed has a light for you to use and the rooms have air conditioning. You will also get a towel to use.||Breakfast is included in the price which is tea/coffee and cereal. It’s very basic but it’ll set you up for the day. ||The only criticism is the beds. We didn’t find them comfortable. Very hard mattresses and a thin hard pillow. Other than that, we would return and will recommend to others who plan to visit Dubrovnik.|

Everything you could possibly want in a hostel - great beds, incredible people, and the most amazing staff ever. Nikolina usually works mornings and is always there to help you out, super kind and she'll teach you a few words in Croatian if you ask! Anja brings this place to life and will have you laughing till your sides hurt. She makes whoever passes through this place feel like family.||||I'm remote working while travelling and Eci went above and beyond to make sure I had my own space as needed so I could balance work and exploring the city!||||City Hostel is located in the *perfect* spot - super easy for all your explorations and day trips. A ton better than staying outside the city walls!!! You have the whole city to yourself in the mornings, if you wake up early enough of course :D||||Anja, Nikoleta, Eci - thank you for such a wonderful stay!!!! You all have a place in my heart!
