I have stayed in CityBox in many cities in Norway but I had a very bad experience with this hotel in Bergen.
I received the room at arrival and the room smelled very bad and intense. The receptionist also came to check and agreed it smelled so bad.
I asked to change to another room (with same price, same standard). The receptionist refused to change for me as she told the hotel is totally booked and no any available room. I already felt weird because it was the bad weather season now. I asked her many times again about if it is actually fully booked. She firmly CONFIRMED NO OTHER ROOM AND REFUSED TO CHANGE ME ANOTHER ROOM. Then I asked to get a refund to book another hotel, which I didn’t want to because it was already late and it was stormy, dark, and rainy hard outside.
The receptionist agreed with me about the cancellation with the refund but told me that she would write the note for her manager to fix it the next morning. When I leave the hotel I checked on booking.com and saw THEY STILL HAVE MANY AVAILABLE ROOMS AT THE SAME PRICE OK BOOKING.COM.
I already felt something wrong with this so I already informed booking.com right after changing.
Next morning they actually DECLINED my cancellation REFUND request on my the system with the reason that they told me that they could switch the room for me. It was totally a LIE!
They told me it was fully booked and no any room to change. who wants to change the hotel in the middle of a late stormy night if it’s not about having to??? They just expected me to stay and suffer in a bad smell room whole night and paid with full price?
After dispute with them as well as reporting to booking.com, they finally agreed to refund me. But it already created a bad experience and destroyed part of my vacation.
Emilie, don’t tell lies. You lied to me that it was no avail room and totally fully booked. Then You also lied to your colleagues that you offered me changing room.
P/S: they were also very angry and rude to me about the refund.
After BAD ROOM, REFUSE TO CHANGE ME THE ROOM EVEN STILL HAVE AVAILABLE ROOM, TOLD LIE, DECLINE REFUND, THEY DIDN’T EVEN SAY A SORRY about the issue.
