I think we might have been upgraded, but our room was bigger, brighter, cleaner and more comfortable than we expected. The bed was fantastic and not too soft ( like normal) and the bathroom was well equipped with a large (double doors) shower with overhead rain head which was luxurious after the other budget accomodation we have used on this trip. Definitely our best stay across two weeks

A self-service hotel providing excellent and friendly service and facilities. Though the room is a bit too small for two, it’s clean and tidy. There’s a cooperative cafe next to it so that you won’t worry about your breakfast. It’s suitable for single travellers exchange students or couples. But need reconsider when you come with your family.

We had asked for a quiet room, but got a very noisy room. After two nights of interrupted sleep. We were moved to a quiet room for 3 more nights. The air conditioning in both rooms was very poor. Citybox is not recommended for a summer stay. The hotel appears fairly new, so there is no excuse for substandard air conditioning. I didn't recall being told of no room cleaning and no tv at time of booking. Citybox presents as an upmarket hostel type accomodations. All the staff we interacted with presented as either grumpy or surly. They all need hospitality training. So, although it was good to find cheaper accomodations in an expensive city. We wouldn't stay there again.

Although an “automated “ process, check in was smooth, quick and painless. The hotel was spotless, as was the adequately sized room and bathroom with a good shower. Breakfast could be taken next door, was good and relatively cheap. Good location meant an easy 10-15 minute walk to the harbour area. Checkout just as easy and I’d certainly recommend it as a good low cost budget hotel. No frills but nothing to complain about.

This is a budget hotel. If you are looking for a multi-star hotel with all the amenities look elsewhere. If you just want a clean, basic hotel for sleeping this is a great choice.|The location is good, close to the train station and bus terminal and not too far a walk to the main attractions. The staff are friendly and helpful. |The breakfast place next door is OK and the price is good. There is a supermarket across the street.|You will have to walk a few minutes for dinner if you want some choices.||NOTE: When we were here there was some construction outside however it didn't interfere with our stay.

Be careful. The AC is not present in this hotel, the thermostat is only for heating and will do nothing if you put it below your room temperature. They don't really advertise cooling on their website, just heating but I kind of expected it to be available by default in something like a hotel. Anyway we had an uncomfortably hot night as we came here during one of the hottest days in Bergen.

Great Hotel! Super close to Bus and Train Station. They have everything you need! Also close to the city center which we loved to walk every day - even with our 6 year old! Rooms were comfortable! Nothing fancy but more than ok! Our room was on the corner to both streets but you couldn't really hear it! Will book again if we ever come back to Bergen!

Yelp
This review is after their latest renovations ending in June 2017. For 700NOK (about $100 Cdn), I thought this place was awesome. The room was cozy and clean with a strong wifi signal. Loved the rain shower heads! The self check-in process was a breeze and if you have any questions, the staff are more than happy to help out. Check-in typically isn't until 2pm but I was able to check in early (10:30am) because my room was ready. If not, the staff are more than happy to store your luggage while you run off for some sightseeing during the day. Similarly, you can store your luggage after checkout and come back for it when your are ready to leave the city. Just 15 minutes walking will get you to Bryggen and the fish market but it's still far enough removed that it is not too loud in the area. There is no official concierge but there are always staff in the office to help if needed. Room floors can be accessed by swiping your key card. A great place to stay if you're only sticking around for a day or two... and very economical as well!

Yelp
Place is centrally located, clean, and spacious, with all of the necessary features including a shared kitchenette, however there is absolutely no ventilation whatsoever. Windows do not open and thermostats do not work-- so if you don't need air you'll be okay here, ha. Also note that there is absolutely no staff to help with anything at this hotel-- it's all automated.
