Citybox Bergen

We stayed at Citybox Bergen in March 2025. Modern, clean, and convenient hotel, providing great value in the center of Bergen. Self check-in was easy to use. We enjoyed the neighborhood, with its easy access to groceries, restaurants, the train station, tram, and a lovely walk to the city center. Citybox gave us a large corner room with large windows and a beautiful view towards Fløyen. The bed was comfy, and we enjoyed coming back to the room to relax after long days exploring. The downstairs kitchenette area provided warm drinks for free, which we utilized frequently. Citybox Bergen proves that not everything in Norway needs to be expensive! Highly recommend a stay at this hotel!

I stayed here for one night as a solo traveler and found the room quite spacious and great value for money. However, it was very cold when I arrived. I asked for assistance, and they gave me a small heater, but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it on at night, so I was still quite cold. The room heating was not sufficient. Other than that, the check-in process was easy, and the location is ammaziinng

- Reasonably priced - Very central - Quite area - Intuitive checkin and checkout - Very clean reception, corridors, room, bed, pillow, duvet, bathroom, toilet - Bathroom equipped with hairdryer. Two rooms designated for clothes washer. One room for ironing - All in all, a good value for money

Another good Citybox experience. It's in a good location & the room was super nice, we got upgraded to a family room. The restaurant attached with the discount was good too. My only complaint was that the heat wasn't on in the room, & when we went to ask the host he explained that the thermostat doesn't do anything other than tell what the temperature is in the room, the heat was controlled by the switch on the back of the radiator, so the heat was basically either on or off, & there were no instructions stating that you have to turn it off. Otherwise it was a very good experience.

I think we might have been upgraded, but our room was bigger, brighter, cleaner and more comfortable than we expected. The bed was fantastic and not too soft ( like normal) and the bathroom was well equipped with a large (double doors) shower with overhead rain head which was luxurious after the other budget accomodation we have used on this trip. Definitely our best stay across two weeks

An awful night’s sleep. The heating cannot be set lower than 20.5 degrees. With the window open the temperature got down to 20.0, but with it closed the room quickly heated up again to 22.5 even with the temperature set low. Couldn’t leave the window open as the streets were filled with shrieking people into the early hours of the morning. One of the worst nights I’ve had in a hotel.

Self check in using machine. No 24hours reception. Small compact room but sufficient. Bathroom is much larger than expected. Location is good, shopping mall and bus/train station is just 5-7 minutes walk and there is supermarket nearby. Staff at office is helpful with the printing of luggage tag required for my luggage porting from Bergen to Oslo. However, the room temperature stays at 19/20 degC despite adjusting to 24degC, too cold for me. No foot towel provided. You may need to climb small flight of stairs for some rooms so take note if you have heavy luggage. No kettle in the room but you can use the kettle in kitchen, there are also disposable cutleries provided in kitchen. You can do laundry (subject to payment).

This review is after their latest renovations ending in June 2017. For 700NOK (about $100 Cdn), I thought this place was awesome. The room was cozy and clean with a strong wifi signal. Loved the rain shower heads! The self check-in process was a breeze and if you have any questions, the staff are more than happy to help out. Check-in typically isn't until 2pm but I was able to check in early (10:30am) because my room was ready. If not, the staff are more than happy to store your luggage while you run off for some sightseeing during the day. Similarly, you can store your luggage after checkout and come back for it when your are ready to leave the city. Just 15 minutes walking will get you to Bryggen and the fish market but it's still far enough removed that it is not too loud in the area. There is no official concierge but there are always staff in the office to help if needed. Room floors can be accessed by swiping your key card. A great place to stay if you're only sticking around for a day or two... and very economical as well!

Place is centrally located, clean, and spacious, with all of the necessary features including a shared kitchenette, however there is absolutely no ventilation whatsoever. Windows do not open and thermostats do not work-- so if you don't need air you'll be okay here, ha. Also note that there is absolutely no staff to help with anything at this hotel-- it's all automated.
