This is a great place. 4 - 4.5 stars.
I'm by no stretch of the imagination a hostel expert. I travel. A fair amount. But I'm not a hostel guy. I think the age that it was sort of acceptable for me to be at hostels all the time has long past, so if I travel somewhere now I find a hotel or an airbnb. No big deal. And it's not like it's a ton of money difference so I can pay extra for the things that I like, like my own bathroom/shower, etc.
But this place, this place is just downright fancy! It's maybe the fanciest hostel ever. Lets start from check in: you check in using these machines that sync your digital wristbands with your room. You then use these wristbands as your keys for everything: your room, lockers, drinks, and the like. Basically everything is accessed by this wristband you're wearing, which is essentially, much more difficult to lose because it's a wristband and not a key or a keycard. Or at least that's the idea.
After you check it, you get to your room, which is literally a pod with a bed in it. It's small. There's barely room for two people to maneuver in there, but it's cozy, and the bed is comfy so it's fine. When you download the app you can chat with the person who is working at the hostel at that particular time (Rafke, Tim, and Campbell were standouts for us; they were very nice) and also control the lights in the room, which are actually really cool. The bar is accessible all the time, and by you. You can just grab a drink by scanning your wristband and making it yourself, or grabbing a beer. No problem.
As a non-hostel person, this is one of the few hostel experiences I've ever had, and now, if I have enough on my plate to know that if I absolutely have to be in a hostel (like we had to be for this trip) I'm defnitely going to a City Hub near me! Enjoy!
