Nature and Parks in Barcelona

"The city’s most beloved park offers a lot of open space and picnic spots. Here you’ll find ping pong tables, free yoga classes in the summer, and boat rentals at the pond. Be sure to climb the steps above the fountain in the center for a great photo. The Barcelona Zoo is just steps away, as well.Barceloneta Beach — Where Barcelona meets the water, Barceloneta Beach begins. Lined with restaurants and outdoor bars, Barceloneta always feels like a party. Conditions permitting, you’ll even find surfers here catching small Mediterranean waves.   Bogatell Beach — One beach over from Barceloneta is Bogatell Beach. The scene here is a little more low-key, and the seafood and paella restaurants that line this shore have a more relaxed, beachy feel. A bit like large beach huts since they have no walls, the restaurants are called  chiringuitos and are as much of a draw as the beach itself. It’s a lovely walk here from Barceloneta.Badalona — Beyond the Barceloneta and Bogatell Beaches is Badalona, reachable by metro. This is a low-key suburb of Barcelona where prices are cheaper and tourists are far fewer. Badalona has two big clubs: El New Cel with its salsa, bachata, and zouk dancing and Titus with its showier vibe where dudes go to flex their muscles and girls wear sky-high heels. Don’t bother staying at the beach until these dance spots open up as it will have been dark for hours. Instead, consider a sunrise beach walk after you spill out of the clubs." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Very large park, with lots of green grass to sit and relax on. I do wish there was more shaded areas as on a sunny day, it’s not something you can enjoy for a long period as the sun is directly above you. There are a few play areas for little kids; a few are gated as well so you can relax on a bench inside while your kids run around playing, without worrying that they might go too far or exit. The main spots can be easily crowded for photos and other activities such as the fountain area. However, the park is clean. There is also a zoo and as you get closer, you can definitely smell the animals and their manure. There is also parking near the zoo. When we visited in early July of 2025, there was construction in some areas so there was fence and blocked off area. There are stairs all around but I would say about 45-55% of the stairs have a ramp as well for wheelchair and strollers. There are some water fountains for drinking as well and ice cream vendors in the area. Reminds me of Central Park in New York City. Definitely worth a visit but during the summer, visit before it gets too hot or in the evenings when the sun has gone down a bit.

Parc de la Ciutadella is a beautiful and expansive park, offering a peaceful escape in the city. At the entrance, there are some tents set up by homeless individuals, which may not be very attractive, but don’t let that discourage you from exploring the rest of this lovely park. Inside, you'll find a charming fountain and an artificial lake where you can rent a canoe and enjoy the serene surroundings. Despite the initial impression at the entrance, the park’s natural beauty and amenities make it a wonderful place to relax and unwind.

Google
Beautiful park where you can have a picnic with friends or just sit by a tree and read a book in peace. You can also walk around the park and rent a small boat in the lake. Highly recommended to pass by + it's close to the arc of triumph so you can see both on the same day.

During our honeymoon in Barcelona, we spent a 1/2 hours at Ciutadella Park. We walked around the fountain, up the stairs, checked out the little concessions stand, and took pics at mammoth statue. We loved that there were people dancing in the park and enjoying the evening. Recommend going 😄

Google
Parc de la Ciutadella really comes alive on a Friday night. It’s like Barcelona’s backyard, families, kids, couples, and friends all mixing together under the trees and historic monuments. You’ll see people dancing, playing music, doing sports, or just relaxing on the grass. We love blending in with the crowd here, it feels like being part of a living postcard. The mix of old architecture and lush greenery makes it extra special. If you want to see Barcelona unwind and celebrate life, come here on a warm evening. It’s simple, beautiful, and full of good energy.

Such a great spot to spend a chill afternoon in Barcelona. You’ll see people relaxing, gathering with friends, or just enjoying the vibe. We went on a Sunday and it was so lively there were people dancing, playing music, and just having a good time. It’s a fun and peaceful place where you can really unwind and forget about stress for a while. Totally worth a visit if you’re looking to enjoy the local atmosphere and have a super cool time outdoors.

Google
Wonderful park, green lungs in the city of Barcelona. A great place for a walk. There are kiosks where you can buy a drink/coffee/ sandwich. You may also enjoy a picnic on the bench or find a spot under a tree. Sometimes there are musicians playing or performing. There’s an option to rent a kayak and roam around the lake. I spent some time there before leaving the city and it was such a relaxing time. Accessible by foot, wheelchair, bicycle. Suitable for kids, families, couples, groups. The castle is accessible only by foot since there are around 3 floors of stairs to climb.

Google
A lovely park and a green lung in the heart of the city. Put it on your list of places to see, not because it's an exceptionally beautiful park or because it has a lot of activities. There really isn't, and it's currently under renovation, with only some areas fenced off. But it's a place to breathe air, relax, sit, drink coffee, and enjoy the lovely fountains. In a city where every attraction has a waiting list and tickets, this park is a joyous visit. Continue from there to the Arc de Triomphe.

Yelp
Great spot to spend a few hours walking around or having a picnic! Plenty of benches to sit and read a book or chat as well.

Yelp
Gorgeous park within walking distance from arc de triomf. The center of the park is very iconic. People can row boats in a pond in the park. Very relaxing.
google avatar

Yelp
Large park with a few nice monuments. Small playground for the kids. A lot of geese and homeless. It's a nice place to let the kids run around at least. Looks like you could rent a row boat to puts around the little pond. Wooly mammoth statue is quirky.

Yelp
Walk run ride nap. Cute parc near city center and beach. Sports? Yes. History. And more. A leisure walk through the parc. A nice lunch break. Scenic parc in the Ciutadella. Several awesome buildings. Lots of walking area. A few too many people. Next to the zoo and city center and beach. This is my park and I love it. Great feel to it as you walk around and enjoy the buildings. Arc de triomph is right up the street and the beach is close. Lots of people to watch.

Yelp
This park was right next to our hotel and we really enjoyed it. Barcelona in the summer can feel like a concrete jungle, so the opportunity to spend some time in this nature space was much welcomed. There is a beautiful fountain and many paths to the wander down. Bring your binoculars if you're into birds, as there are many to see here. From parrots to tits, egrets to moorhens, you'll wish you had more time.

Yelp
Incredibly breathtaking park!! Lots of cool areas all around. The architecture is just stunning!! So much greenery, trees, plants, and outdoor features. Many benches to sit in with shaded areas as well. Multiple ponds; saw someone riding a little kayak in one next to a ton of ducks! You can climb up to the top of thr main statue, and the view from the top is beautiful This park is open to the public, and you can find many nice people around. And dogs too!!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
It's a beautiful park. People were dancing. The fountain and architecture were pretty.

Yelp
This park is a beautiful park in the center of the city that is completely free. It has a garden and a greenhouse and lots of areas to get lost and explore. I actually had a photoshoot here and got some awesome shots. They have a zoo in the park that is not free but if you walk to the top of the steps you can see some of the animals. On Sundays you will see people salsa dancing in the park which is fun.
google avatar

Yelp
This park was connected to the Barcelona zoo and a quick walk from the Gothic Quarter. The park was very well maintained and beautiful. They have many sculptures all along their paths with an absolutely gorgeous fountain (my favorite part). The fountain is extremely intricate, bold, and beautiful. The park itself is rather small, so it would be a quick trip maybe 20-30 minutes to get through the entire thing while enjoying the sites if you don't linger too long. I highly suggest checking it out if you have a break in between your other tourist attractions since it is quick, free, and beautiful.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning! Barcelona has so many beautiful parks, and La Ciutadella is definitely one of them. This was personally my favorite smaller park to visit. And by "smaller" I don't mean small. This park is actually pretty dang huge, but there are so many grand parks by comparison. Parc de la Ciutadella is an excellent park to explore during your time in Barcelona. The park features Cascada Monumental (a beautiful cascade fountain), a large pond fountain, walking trails, a small lake, gardens, and several sculptures. The park also shares a space with the Barcelona City Zoo. When you enter the park, you'll be enamored by how lush and green it is. This was one of Barcelona's first ever green spaces and I can totally understand why. The gardens are absolutely stunning and the park holds some of the city's most old trees and foliage. Cascada Monumental and the pond fountain are both gorgeous. This fountain was actually one of Gaudí's earliest works and not many people are aware of this. The Roman Gazebo is super charming. You can walk up the steps, stand underneath it, and simply admire its' beauty. You can also look down at the pond fountain and the rest of the park from it as well. The views are amazing from inside the gazebo! There are several walking paths that are used by walkers, runners, and bikers alike. Many people like to enjoy the paths to take a leisurely stroll as they admire the park. There are so many neat sculptures too! I feel like this park could be considered an outdoor museum as there's lots to see from an art perspective. There's also a lake where I saw a few people on row boats. Lots of green space for picnicking, relaxing, and to let the kids and dogs roam freely. The picture taking opportunities seem to be endless. It's truly and striking park from all angles. Definitely make some time to check out Parc de la Ciutadella when in Barcelona.

Yelp
I went for a run in and around this park during my stay in Barcelona. We weren't the only ones with that idea, it was filled with runners on a Saturday morning! Really cute park with nice vegetation.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
The park is pretty big. Free admission. There were a lot of homeless there which is why a star was removed. Maybe there can be a local shelter the homeless can go, so that it won't dampen the peaceful image of the architecture and the waterfalls. Other than that, I think it's a must see for any tourist. You can come and eat and enjoy the scenery.

Yelp
I visited this park with a large group of students of our school a few weeks ago in mid March. It was a beautiful day for a picnic, sunny and 60°. Like most people said, it's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Definitely recommend stopping by the Santa Catarina market to get some delicious food for the picnic. Don't forget to bring a blanket to sit on as there are many grassy, areas and trees, but lots of dirt pads, and a few benches here and there. there are people selling blankets, snacks, samosas, an Indian chai, but we had so much food need to buy anything. There's a place to rent boats for 30 minutes, which could be a great activity for older kids or adults. We did have a minor incident with a local teen, but we were able to sort it out with his teacher. I'd definitely return if I were back in Barcelona and I would joy beautiful green space.

Yelp
a gorgeous park to visit when in Barcelona! peaceful, beautiful and a great place to relax, read a good book, have a nice picnic, whatever your heart desires! Barcelona has so many beautiful monuments to visit, but this is definitely one I'd recommend visiting. it's also walking distance from the Arc de Triomf and Barcelona City Zoo.

Yelp

Yelp
Located in the Goth area of Barcelona The Parc de la Ciutadella is a large, fairly flat green oasis. A great place to stroll, or relax on a bench or the lawn. You can even row a boat on the lake. On the grounds, there are several attractions: a zoo, Catalan Parliament, Museu d'Art, and Museu de Geology. As well as several great pieces of art and statues. In 1714, a citadel was placed on this ground by a Bourbon king. Later the Citadel was converted into a prison - mostly for political prisoners. At the Passeig de Pujades there is a statue of General Prim, who gave the order for closing of the citadel. In 1998, the World Exhibition was placed here. Later the park was designed by Josep Fontsère, and then unknown architect Antoni Gaudí. Together they designed the waterfall Cascada. An interesting monument with a mixture of stone, metals and color overlooking a large water feature. The water basin is guarded by winged dragons, a figure quite commonly found in Gaudi's work. One of my favorite spots. The Castle of the Three Dragons was closed during my visit, but from the outside very interesting to view. Another modernisme building built between 1887-1888 as a Café for the 1888 Universal Exposition. The Umbracle, botanical gardens were also closed during my visit. You can exit the park near the Parliament and enjoy a walk along the Mediterranean.

Yelp
A beautiful and spacious park to lay out and relax after a long afternoon of shopping and eating tapas in the Gothic Quarter! Perfect spot to bring a blanket, have a picnic, read a good book, or just hang out.

Yelp
Lives up to its name. A park for the people. Popular place to escape the buzz of the city. A small pond for boating, gazebo with salsa dancers, ping pong tables, and a beautiful shrine (for Aphrodite?). You can probably walk the perimeter in half and hour. A great place to find Barcelonians in their element.

Yelp
Park of the Citadel! This park used to be the grounds for a military citadel back in the day. Now, it has been given back to the people. It's a lush park, with lakes, lots of grass, and plenty of places to relax, hang out. You can even go boating on the lake with some paddle boats that you can rent. I found a giant life-sized mastodon that looked like Snuffelufagus near the lake. Turns out, a sculptor was trying to make a whole sculpture zoo of dinosaur and extinct animals to show their massive size. This park has a gigantic guilded fountain of the dragons of Barcelona that spray water- the fountain was designed, in part, by Gaudi, the famous architect. This park has pubic restrooms! We found free restrooms by the ice cream stand near the fountain. We witnessed the thorough cleaning job that the restrooms got, and I venture to say we got some of the cleanest public park restrooms I've ever been in. On the way in to the park, be sure to check out the Arc of Triomph that doesn't really celebrate any military triumph, but just sort of triumphs in general. When we entered the park, we saw lots of dudes selling huge blankets that you can sit out on and have a fine picnic, or turn in to a groovy wall covering or bed spread. Righteous. There's a zoo in this park, but I didn't make it there.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Simply stunning scenery around every turn at this beautiful park. You can rent a row boat, have a snack at the stands and visit the zoo here or just stroll on the paths and enjoy the sculptures throughout. If you're visiting Barcelona this park is definitely worth a visit. Wear closed toe shoes because the paths are all dirt.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
A fantastic free park with a nice walkway, good shade-covered seats near beautiful water features, and close proximity to other Barcelona attractions. There's a cute pond with lots of birds you can rent a paddle boat on (which we avoided since the pond is honestly far too small to accommodate that boat traffic despite others clearly enjoying it) and a few nice monuments as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Even though it's only seventy acres, this is indeed Barcelona's answer to Central Park. Established in the middle of the 19th century when the reviled citadel was dismantled (thus the park's name), it was the city's only green space for decades. Remnants of the fortress still exist but used as a secondary school and the Catalan Parliament building. Just like Central Park, it features a large fountain (The Cascada), the city zoo, and lake filled with rowboats (photo: http://bit.ly/2BYka9s). Jamie W. and I strolled through the park on our way to the Museu Picasso in the La Ribera district (review: http://bit.ly/2Cc7usz). Starting in L'Eixample, we came by way of the central promenade, the Passeig de Lluís Companys, where the reddish Arc de Triomf anchors the northern end of the park (photo: http://bit.ly/2BLqNYu). None of this section is paved, so it got a bit dusty as bicycles kicked up the dirt to the chagrin of us lowly pedestrians (photo). The balloon man was there (photo: http://bit.ly/2zDpNUA) and so was the bubble man who appeared to be accompanied by his bubble children or at least I presumed they were his kids (photo: http://bit.ly/2BXWFNI). The Castell dels Tres Dragons (photo: http://bit.ly/2zDckvQ) and adjacent greenhouse are worth perusing as you stroll the grounds.

Yelp
Maybe we came at the wrong time of year (early October) but this park was not very impressive to me. Every bit of grassy area was taken up by people hassling you to sell blankets so it was not very relaxing and the greenery overall was lacking. The park itself seemed to be almost neglected. The fountain in the middle was indeed beautiful to look at but honestly the surrounding brings it down. I would come here for some quick views of the fountain and to see the Arc de Triomf across the street but that's about it.
google avatar

Teresa S.

Yelp
This was a beautiful attraction we visited Barcelona. The park was big and clean and you could easily get lost. The day before my friend and I had walked from the Arc de Triomf and passed the zoo but didn't realize this park was in the same vicinity. Like most people, the first area I wanted to check out was the fountain. I walked the steps and took in all the surrounding greenery and architecture. There were a lot of people taking pictures and just enjoying the views throughout the park. There are areas you can sit and people watch. You can spend a lot of time in this park with so much to see and do. Definitely a place to check out when you're in Barcelona.
google avatar

Rozet S.

Yelp
Awesome park near the Arc and the zoo! I love how clean and pristine the park is despite so many tourists and locals walking through the park daily. I especially loved the beautiful fountain! I would definitely come back here during sunset for a picnic. So many areas to just sit and relax!

Yelp
We tried several times during our visit to get into this park, but due to the protests (regarding independance for Catalonia), it was closed. On our last full day, we decided to give it one more try and it was open ! The park is very large and at one end is the zoo and the other end the placa where the Arc de Triomf is. The draw for us was a fountain, which we heard described as stunning ..and it totally is worth the trip alone. While strolling the grounds we came across cement ping pong tables (which were being used), a huge pond with row boats for rent, hidden statues, big promenades and beautiful gardens. Loved this parc and the fountain is amazing!

Yelp
Very nice park, kinda small but a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona Has a nice fountain nearby, a cafe, placed to sit, birds, duck, and a little lake with boats to row in

Yelp
It is a pretty city park just west of Barceloneta. I entered through the Arc de Triomf. It is a beautiful, red arch that was built by architect Josep Vilaseca I Casanovas as the gate to the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. It leads into the Passeig de Lluís Companys, which is a gorgeous promenade with rows of trees that line each side. The promenade leads into the park. It is a good park to walk around. The main attraction is the fountain in the north part of the park. It features a large, multilevel pool with sculptures and stairs that lead to an impressive arch at the top. There is also a zoo at the east end of the park. I would not say Parc de la Ciutadella is a must do but it was an enjoyable stop on my way to Barceloneta. If you are visiting the Barcelona and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me through Yelp and I can share my itinerary/ recommendations, which includes my Yelp reviews. The information for an electronic copy can also be found via my Yelp profile.

Yelp
This here is another of Barcelona's great monuments. I is a very beautiful park to take a stroll on If you have some time. Definitely climb up the stairs towards the statue if you want a closer view. I would warn you however about the people giving free coconut or whatever away. They, as others throughout the city who hand you stuff , expect a generous money contribution in return. If not, they will probably become angry and start cursing at you. But don't let thats stop you from going. Simply, kindly tell them no thanks and rest assure they will carry on to someone else. Anyway. Check this place out if you in Barcelona . Follow @thehungrynomadz on instagram for more

Yelp
Beautiful park that reminds me of Central Park! Awesome fountain designed by Gaudi. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy people watching and food kiosks with tables where you can order something to eat and drink. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful park--at the end is the awesome Arc de Triomf and the Zoo is also nearby.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a beautiful park to take photos and its on the way to the Arc de Triomf from the Picasso museum. It's also a great place to chill and have a picnic lunch on the picnic tables or on the grass. The fountain was drained when I stopped by but regardless, it's still magnificent. Note: it's not paved everywhere, so your shoes may get dusty.
google avatar

Yelp
Breathtaking fountain!!! I came to la Ciutadella to see the fountain. The park big. Make sure you read the map to take the quickest path to the fountain. The fountain is huge. The greenery in the fountain and surrounding it is so beautiful. The gold chariot at the top is stunning in the sun. It was not to crowded when I came. Easy to get great photos. This is one of my favorite fountains I have seen in my travels. I liked it more then the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc (it was off) and the Trevi Fountain.

Yelp
This park is free! and it's walking distant from the arc de triomph and santa maria del pi. Seriously, you can get to arc de triomph and then walk straight east and you'll hit this park. It is amazing and beautiful! This park is huge so be prepare for some time. There are tons to look around in this park. People watch, have a picnic. Great for kids and couples traveling. You will see a mixture of locals and tourists at this park.

Yelp
Overall Gorgeous park! Great for running, riding bikes, people watching, first date, or a just clear your mind stroll. Be sure to come through here when in the region! Next time we will have to come when the weather is warmer to take advantage of the beach.

Yelp
4.5 I stumbled upon this park completely by accident. I was doing my usual -- taking the train somewhere, getting off and exploring -- when my wanderings led me to a bunch of noise. Wanting to check it out, I saw an inviting green space. As I have written about many times on here, green spaces are my nature spots of choice so I made a beeline for the green stuff. This park is magically delicious. It's not the architectural wonder of Parc Guell. Instead, the magic of this park comes from the people, elements, location, and design. The people are hilarious. I felt like I was transported back to my liberal arts college past. All around me were drum circles, dirty hippies and the smells of patchouli, body odor, marijuana, and horseshit. I heard Peter, Paul & Mary, the Indigo Girls and Tupac. The crush of humanity was a thing of beauty. In addition to the dirty hippies (have we cycled back to them yet), there were throngs of tourists, families, children running wild, grandparents on their last nerve, and couples looking for grassy knolls on/in which to do the nasty. The elements are wondrous. Being a park, there are all sorts of trees, flowers, trails, and inviting leas for exploration. Additionally, there are random sculptures that make for great photo opps.* My favorite elements, though, involved water. The fountain/castle is breathtaking. Not only is it a stunning visual, but it's interactive, as you can climb it, engage in the water element and spend time hypnotized by its glory. There's also a small lake, perfect for a romantic row around the park. I wouldn't get in it as the liquid looked very Toxic Avenger-ish but the sentiment was nice. If you knew where you were going beforehand (I did not), you would know that the park is close to the zoo, the Arc de Triomf (had no idea there was one in Barcelona) and some cool neighborhood details. Keep your camera at the ready because the scene changes quickly and you're going to want to be able to capture everything with a quickness. Not to fear: there are plenty of nearby shops for all your eat & drink needs. While not the Gaudi dreamscape of other Barcelona sites, I found this park to be both highly functional in design as well as highly entertaining. There was always something new to discover and engage yet the oblong shape made sense and isn't so circuitous as to be disorienting. It's just enough Alice in Wonderland to entertain without being overwhelming. What a happy accident. I need to get lost while exploring more often. *Just be sure to go in and grab your opportunity, as waiting in line like a gentleman is a f00ls errand.

Yelp
This park is beautiful. Worth visiting but watch out for pick pocket. Someone tried to swipe my purse. They work in pairs - one asked me for directions while the second tried to take the bag.

Yelp
I didn't know this park before, it was actually not in my plan to visit this place. I just visited the Arc de Triomf and was just wandering around this area. I saw on the map, there was a part ahead. So I just follow the path and it got me to the Parc de la Ciutadella. First, the park is huge. I think, I spent about an hour just walking around there. It was really amazed me there was a really beautiful terrace inside the park. It caught my eyes instantly, those diligent sculptures and the style were just brilliant. It was really relaxing as well, saw many locals just were here as well. With dogs or kids. There are couple historical buildings inside the park. I had checked most of them. I like the 3 buildings at the south side of the park. The style of the buildings and the garden also. Great place to sit down and enjoy the sunshine. I like the park alot, happy that I made a visit to this place and it simply becomes one of my favourite places in Barcelona.

Yelp
I could sit in this park by the lovely fountain/pond all day! If you are in Barcelona this is a must see. Words cannot describe the beauty of the statues, so I urge you to simply go.

Yelp
Barcelona is for lovers! this romantic city has 21hours of day light during the summer. And no better way to enjoy the sun at a romantic historic park. There's a museum, zoo, library, botanical garden, a balloon man lol, a man playing the sax, another playing the keyboard. Architectures and statues everywhere. If your looking for the picture perfect picnic or are just tired of the noise of the city and parties you can unwind and watch the sunset here. Might be one of my favorite places in Spain
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
Wish I could have seen this fountain in operation. It was closed for renovations. Even without water it was a sight to see. Climbing to the top you get to see the details of the fountains a little closer. The park is a nice walk. Take the time to appreciate nature.

Yelp
Sad! This park was beautiful, but seemed to be neglected!! We're we're confused when we walked through. It was very dirty and not well kept. The main fountain was not running and the water was dirty and gross. There was a fence around it like they were renovating or something, but there was no information anywhere and no signs of work being done. I could tell this park is special, but it was sad how neglected it had been.

Yelp
INFO : you can get free wifi close to the Zoo. One of the best parks in Barcelona. You have shade areas , sunny ones, hippies, people paying music. Every time I went to Barcelona some events were there. It's located 2 minutes from the beach and just few minutes walk from Placa Catalunya. Really enjoyable place in the city : a must see for people staying in Barcelona for few days and who wants to have free time relaxing and looking at the local life.

Yelp
This park was my favorite spot in Barcelona, namely because of the beautiful fountain that hardly anyone gets to see. When I first saw it, I was so surprised I hadn't heard of it ahead of time, or that there weren't hoards of tourists taking pictures in front of it. In my opinion, its better than the trevi because its so lush and green, enormous, and not spoiled by too many tourists. I, of course, love the rest of the park. The row boats are precious, there are beautiful churches interspersed throughout the park, as well as tons of green space that you won't find in Guell.

Yelp
This place is a great walk in the center of the city. There is a nice huge park and a fountain designed by gaudi.

Yelp
FREEEEEEE!!!! Can I just say that I saw photos of this park and was hoping to chance upon it. And we did while stumbling around to the Picasso museum. I love a good park and this is one of the best I've been to. I love a good weird mix of things and this has a green house, giant elephant, and mix of classical European statues, and an Indian style gazebo in the center? And did I spy a mock miniature Arch de Triumph too? I loved it. I wish I had all day to enjoy this park instead of hurrying along to view other city sights. Note to tourist, if you run out of money and need a place to just hang out on the regular... come here. There are people to watch, people singing music from the Lion King (acoustic version!), and loads of relaxin to be had here.

Yelp
Put in a kitchen and a private bathroom and I would never leave. This park has been my second home in my second home as it has been for many locals and ex-pats. Green space is in short supply and the beaches are crowded with the Americans I avoided in America. That makes Parc de la Ciutadella my haven along with free WiFi, quiet shady places and the ability to (clandestinely) let my dog off the leash. Many of my friends meet here regularly on Sundays to catch up outside of work and bar environments. I like to come to write and work on-line when I need to escape my apt and cafes. One of the best parts of the park is the small pond with row boats. My boyfriend was quite romantic to row me around, pour me some cava and feed me some olives. Of course he did joke about it being a great place to dump me. The moment had enough romance that I laughed and he stayed dry.

Yelp
Great park for all ages. There is a place you can ride a boat, a zoo, two playgrounds one with a kids center open at certain times. There are two wifi spots you can use. Well the only two I saw. People can chill at many area of the park. Their is also a cafe eating place. Great places to take pictures.

Yelp
While we were in Barcelona, we accidentally stumbled upon the Parc de la Ciutadella when we were out for our morning run. (Half Marathon training) It wasn't on our list of places to see while we were Barcelona but wow I'm glad we found this place! The park was SO beautiful that I wanted to come back later that day to take pictures of EVERYTHING because who goes out for a run with their cameras? I also wanted to show my friends on the trip this nice ASS park. It was like I was transported into another world. Into PARADISE! The park was big, green everywhere. The fountain there was amazing. I wanted to spend ALL day there. Which you can since there's a lake here, a zoo, and two museums! Even the walk to the park was cool because you get to also see Barcelona's Arc de Triompf! You have HAVE HAVE to go here!

Yelp
In several travel books they mentioned this as a top 5 site in Barcelona. I would put it somewhere around the 10th best thing to see there. It is an impressive park, but it is not worth spending more than a couple of hours here. I would rate the churches, Ramblas, Gothic Quarter, the beach, and some of the architectures as the must sees of Barcelona. If you are there for an extended period of time, this park is worth checking out (if you have already seen Parc Guell). Tip: Take the paddle boat out for a spin. Though not as exciting as the lake in Madrid, it is still a romantic stroll around a shady lake.
