20 Best Restaurants in Edinburgh | Condé Nast Traveler

"From the jolly striped awning out front, to the eye-popping primary colors inside, to the retro hip-hop on the stereo, Civerinos Slice practically oozes joy and fun. If you're looking for the best pizza in Edinburgh, you'll find it here. There are white pizzas like the Polar Bear, which comes with a pistachio crumb; deeply meaty options like the Scarface, which has Manuka honey and smoky, crispy bacon; and imaginative vegan options with fennel and sugo. There are also classics done well. Sides include polenta chips and arugula salad, but really you're better off ordering another pizza. This is a quick refuel spot or a place to linger a while with a cold beer as the slices keep on coming." - Caroline Eden

Such a lovely spot right in front of the beach! We grabbed two slices of pizza and honestly, the dough was perfectly baked, soft on the inside with just the right crisp. The toppings were fresh and full of flavor, definitely hit the spot. And of course, it wouldn’t be a true beachside experience without a few seagulls trying to steal a bite! 😅 We had to guard our slices like treasure, but it just added to the fun. Great pizza, great view, and a little adventure with the birds, loved it! 🍕🌊🕊️

This is a difficult review to write as I have always loved civerinos! Sadly on this occasion the pizza was really low quality and the size of the slice was significantly smaller than the group next to us. I would expect more than 1 slice of pepperoni and a small bite of sausage. I have given 4 stars as previous visits have been good but was very very disappointed on this occasion. It’s a great location on a nice day, lovely atmosphere.

I absolutely adore this spot! One of my favourite pizza places in the Edinburgh. The serving size for the slice is so generous for the price and the truffle mayo is fab. Perfect spot right by the beach so the view while eating is so lovely. Very fast service and they even have wee bonfires you can get to have a little fire on the beach with, such a cute idea.

Absolutely nothing more disgusting than getting someone else’s hair baked into your food 🤢 Detroit pizza was freezing, cheese wasn’t even melted properly and it had a big long black hair in it 🤢 20” pepperoni pizza was ok Chips and Mac and cheese were average. 42 pounds not so well spent. Highly disappointing as people seem to give it good reviews

2x 20" pizza but almost 35 minutes wait when it's not exactly busy isn't great. 5 minute drive home and both pizzas cold but didn't return because I didnt want to wait another 35 minutes so had to reheat. Also it's not really a 20" pizza when only 2 parts of the dough make it to near the edge of the box.

We went to Portobello on a weekend when the weather was gorgeous. Obviously we were not the only people who preferred coming down to the beach to soak some sunshine in. So queues before all shops were very long. We didn’t mind the waiting time. BUT there cannot be any good explanation for making your customers wait for a pizza for 35 minutes. They prioritise people who ordered slices rather than a whole pizza. By the time they called out our order no, more than 20 people who ordered after us had collected their orders. It was very annoying and maybe they could have warned us. And when we finally had our pizza, it was completely burnt underneath as you can see. Going back to the queue or complaining and waiting for another pizza for 30 mins was not an option for us so we had to eat barely one slice and throw the rest. Overall, I do NOT recommend this branch, especially on a busy day. They are not good at meeting high demand and making good pizza at the same time.

Really nice pizza at good prices. Staff were lovely too! Had the spicy pepperoni pizza. 20” was huge, fed 4

We went to Civerino's Portobello Beach location in mid-march after seeing posts on TikTok about how good the pizza there was. I got a margarita pizza, and my boyfriend got the Italian sausage. We were both really happy with the food; my only complaint would be it's not as 'saucy' as I would have hoped. We sat outside at the picnic tables which was okay until the winds picked up and I nearly lost my pizza to the sea. Would definitely recommend a visit. Next time, we will try the truffle fries.
