Civic Garden

What to say about the Civic Center? What an amazing park and leisure area that offers green grass areas to lay down and relax and many tables and chairs to take a break during work. Make sure you take the time and read what the park was built for. I highly recommend it!

The area was perfect for families. It had enough space for kids to play and adults to relax. The maintenance staff did a great job keeping it clean and welcoming.

The natural elements and the water feature are nice but the grounds are frequented by displaced individuals so this can create somewhat of a clash for folks that aren't used to it.

We visited 4/20/19 in the early evening. It was a refreshing place to enjoy some greenery and watch the city of Dallas. A street performer was playing guitar nearby which added to the allure. Within walking distance to many hotels downtown, don’t miss this beautiful spot!

Very small, but cute. I liked it enough to take some of my civic wedding photos there. :) Of course it is right in the middle of major streets, so not a good pet area. There a few picnic tables, and the butterfly statues are cool for kids.

A great place to take a stroll or just sit. It is also a dog friendly park. It is overall a very good place to go to enjoy the scenery.

Not a bad view anyway you look. Love this park. Just one more reason I am blessed to call Dallas home!

A pretty green space in downtown Dallas though it seems to have been captured by a few of the residentially challenged folks. They didn't bother me, I didn't bother them. A nice buffer and some of the grass could be better roped off as it seems like people like to walk on the same spots over and over. The Water Fountain looked very pretty and the rules area clear. Can I wonder why they have a "changing diapers" prohibition? Did that happen often enough that it necessitated a sign? Wait, I know people are horrible. Nevermind. Passed through this garden a couple of times. The butterfly installation kept catching my eyes. Pretty bare garden as it's close to winter. The butterflies no doubt make you think of warmer seasons and climate nonetheless. A nice reprieve from the cool fall day.

An outdoor private garden for the public that was commissioned by the Belo Corp. This place has lots of picnic tables in the shade, where you can lounge around in the heat and relax. This park serves as more of a green walkway between Commerce and Main. Other than the picnic tables, there's not a lot of useful space in this park. There's a smaller grassy knoll than the famous one down the street. From here, it's a good vantage point to check out what's happening in the West End or the US District Court across the street. But the big hill makes it impractical to play a game of catch or soccer or something. There's not a whole lot of gardening that happens at this garden. There are no restrooms available at this park. Street parking can be challenging in downtown Dallas. When I went, there were city employees keeping the park clean and safe.
