Civil War Museum

This small museum is worth visiting if you want to understand the realities of life in Cartagena following the Condor Legion bombings during the civil war, which residents survived only thanks to the shelters they built. There's a silent film with images from that time. The museum is located on the first floor, at the lower entrance to Cartagena's panoramic elevator. Admission is €4.

So it's nice, very knowledgeable and educational, staff very friendly and helpful. One thing that I would like, some of the exhibitions, specifically with the videos require you to stand for a long time, if you put some seats there it would make it much better, not everyone can stand for so long.

Small, but interesting museum. I recommend gathering some infos about the Spanish Civil War before visiting. :)

I always find these places moving. Pity more people don't, and there might be less horrific things going on in the world. Humans don't learn from the past. The children's pictures were particularly powerful

We thought this was a really great small museum giving lots of information on how the civil war was experienced here in Cartagena. It was a very moving and intimate experience - very well done.

An 8nteresting museum telling the tale of hiw the people of Catagena responded to the threat ofwar, in particular air raids. It didn't take long to traverse but combined with the trip in the lift and the fact it is indoors so sheltered from the summer heat made this a pleasant visit

I spent an hour so in this small museum. There are not a lot of exhibits but it is housed in one of the Old bomb shelters. I felt it gave me a real sense of the atmosphere of the city during the civil war. This was mainly due to the interviews running on a loop from residents from that time. For instance the description of the first bombing raid. A plane coming over very low and then suddenly started to drop bombs to the great surprise of the residents. It must have been surreal at first. But then how it became part of life, to see death and destruction every day. My advice is to spend time listening to these interviews and immerse yourself in their stories. An interesting afternoon.

It is a small place but it's nice, around 30 min of informative time, I like the most the fact that it's situated in an actual bunker. Could be developed more, could add some interactive exhibits - then would be 5 *
