Claddagh Oyster House

Superb service by very professional waiters and excellently prepared plates coming from the kitchen. As one should expect from an Oyster House, the variety plate served with three different local oysters brought pristine oysters, well shucked. We also loved the mussels. The grilled halibut was done just right, the moist, sweet meat of the fish nicely accompanied with a variety of side dishes. Equally good was the Brick Chicken. A delightful dinner with special thanks to our waiter.

We went there on a whim... we were pleasantly advised of the hot items on the menu with the the wine pairing. Our server did absolutely what he does best... we shared the steak n scallop for 2, with 2 sides and that beautiful cabernet sauvignon from Argentina

If you ever find yourself in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, you must drop into the Claddagh Oyster House, otherwise you can't say you've had the city's finest dining experience. The food is literally off the chart! Prices aren't as high as one would expect, especially for someone like me coming from Toronto. The service was beyond attentive and impeccable. As well, upon overhearing the manager speaking to his staff, I asked about the money market funds he was talking about and instead of giving me a "Why are you listening to my conversation," spoke with me for over 10 minutes giving me some great money management (retirement) advice. Charlottetown is truly lucky to have Claddagh Oyster House as one of the city's eatery establishments.

First of all, the place looks really nice, its very well designed. We had Rockefeller oysters but we weren’t really crazy about them, it was too heavy and chewy but I believe that’s personal preference. They were served on way too big plate so it looked a bit silly and empty. Then we had Chowder and lobster risotto. Both were delicious and perfect comforting food for rainy day. Only thing, the risotto had way too much cheese which was too overpowering. Service was ok but not great.

My husband and I had a wonderful time dining here on our last night in Charlottetown. The food was so fresh and delicious! They gave us biscuits to start and then we had oysters as an appetizer. We had the catch of the day, which was swordfish, and the salmon for our mains. Everything was flavourful and prepared to perfection! It is on the pricey side, but worth it if it's within your budget. It was quite busy so I highly recommend making a reservation.

Great place for dinner. We had seafood chowder, it was delightful. The mussels was on point. Their burger was rated top 3 ever 🍔 from our burger specialists(with over hundreds of different burgers restaurants experience)

Excellent service by Jonah! Highly recommend trying their fresh oysters! Had a great dinner here in Charlottetown and they also set us up with a table upstairs at Ole Dublin Pub for a night cap which was great because of how busy these places are! Thank you!

Claddagh Oyster House was our last dinner before we left PEI & it didn’t disappoint. My wife enjoyed the oysters and the seafood chowder was so good and packed with seafood! Really good biscuits too. For the mains, the jerk crab legs were amazing! Never had any thing like those before. We also ordered the special which was halibut with scallops- delicious. Sticky date pudding for dessert was good as well and a nice finish to the meal. Highly recommend!

On our first night in town, we went to Claddagh's. From the outside, the building looked nice but unassuming, so I was surprised to find the inside had an upscale, polished vibe. At first, I thought I should've worn a button-down shirt, but I quickly noticed a mix of attire--some people dressed up, others in shorts--so it felt welcoming and relaxed. We started with oysters, which were absolutely delicious--completely different from the ones I've had in Florida. For my main course, I ordered the special of the day: baked halibut in a jerk sauce, served with Irish mashed potatoes and shrimp. The halibut was cooked perfectly--flaky, buttery, and flavorful. The jerk sauce added just the right amount of kick. The shrimp were tasty too, though I do wish there had been more of them, or at least a bit larger in size. That was really my only complaint. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding and the sticky date pudding. Both came out hot, rich, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth good. By the end of the meal, we left happily stuffed and excited to explore more of the fish and shellfish PEI has to offer. Service was excellent--our waitress was efficient, friendly, and refreshingly no-nonsense. I'd highly recommend Claddagh's for anyone looking for a great dinner in a warm, lively atmosphere.

No reservation- so sat at bar. Completely remodeled 40 year plus place. Attentive server ! Bottle of Sauvignon blanc to start. Shared plate of oyster rockafllas - very good. Shared special of the night, halibut- served with small portions of mashed potatoes, few carrots, bit of cabbage slaw tasted very good. Server offered a free dessert, due to mix up in kitchen on order. All in all a fun place!

I enjoyed dinner at Claddagh. While I had spent the day at the Shellfish Festival, I did not think more raw oysters would move the needle so I started with the oysters Rockefeller. I had never had this dish before and really enjoyed them; think French Onion Soup meets oysters. The oysters were (obviously) fresh and it was very tasty. I followed with the lobster; it was also prepared perfectly and easy to eat. I do wish they gave an option for a larger lobster but I probably should have asked. Overall a good evening.

Upscale, trendy place but the food is excellent. Very outgoing, youthful staff. Apparently there's an Irish pub downstairs with a patio but we didn't check that out. We both had the lobster risotto and it was yummers! We split an order of the tempura shrimp and it was so good we ordered a second!

The food and service were superb! Literally the best dinner we had in the Maritime province. Had to get PEI muscles of course which were great!Served in the lovely broth with toast to soak it up. The highlight was the lobster dinner. Of course, served with hot butter and the most delicious mixed vegetable medley, even including spaghetti squash, mashed potatoes and colored carrots. We also had the halibut which was perfect and came with the same vegetables. The sticky Date cake pudding was superb! Our server was excellent and very helpful. Such a lovely, modern restaurant in a small town. Would give it 6 stars if I could

One of my favorite meals while I was out here. Everything was scrumptious. I highly recommend if you're looking for a nicer dinner out. Service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly and polite. Decor was dark, moody, and cozy.

Our accommodation host highly recommended us this place for oysters, mussels and for their food in general, and it was worth it! Our server Josh was amazing and funny and he made us feel extremely welcome in the restaurant. Josh made all of our drinks, and he created the majority of the drinks on the cocktail menu except for a couple. My drink, the West of the Field, was extremely smooth especially for an Old Manhattan drink. We had to get their oysters and their steamed PEI mussels. The oysters were from three different regions of PEI and you could tell the difference between all three. The mussels were delicious and you could tell they were fresh just by how sweet they were and how they melted in your mouth. The broth they were steamed in was delicious as well. The main course arrived and I was blown away by their presentation. The Halibut was cooked to perfection and it melted in my mouth. The peach and lobster relish really complemented the Halibut. The medley of vegetables were delicious and full of flavour! Josh also recommended the sticky date pudding that was made of dates. The pudding was so warm and comforting and you can barely taste the dates, it tasted more like sticky toffee pudding! It was a fantastic evening and dinner and I strongly recommend coming here for their amazing service and meals. Be sure to book reservations in advance as tables can get booked quite quickly. You may be lucky if you can get seats at the bar like us.

This is a reliable place to dine out. They found us a table even though we showed up one day early. As an appetizer, we ordered the mussels. They were just okay. The entrees were very satisfying. The service was excellent. To start off, they didn't make us feel stupid for showing up a day early for the reservation and worked hard to figure out how to place us. Another plus in terms of service: my partner ordered a second wine and it took a long time for it to be served. We weren't charged for the second wine. The atmosphere was casual and friendly.

I was quite disappointed in my lobster dinner in PEI. I am really not sure how this place has such high ratings...maybe I just hit them up on a bad night. Service at the bar was initially not super friendly, but being me, I made sure to strike up lots of conversation and then they appeared a little more attentive. I ordered the lobster and what I got was what appeared to be a lobster but the amount of meat in it was more like what a large crawfish would have... it was so strange... I showed the guys behind the bar - they totally agreed... So, as they should... they ordered another one, at no charge and it was just slightly better. I found it to be very weird to have miniature lobster meet in a full size lobster. It wasn't wasn't the best flavor I've had and PEI is supposed to be some of the best lobster around! I was definitely sad and cannot say it was worth me going through PEI... a skip for next time...

Dined here last night. The service from Emma was stellar. The Seafood Chowder will make you weep in that it is insanely delicious. The PEI mussels are salty/sweet with a flavour I have never tasted. The Oysters are tiny with a very dainty taste. My only issue is that my wife and I spent a small fortune here for excellent food and service, but the table was the size of a chess board. Wish we had been afforded a larger table and some elbow room. And they had no local wines. I am a huge fan of wine. I enjoy wines from all over the place, but I greatly appreciate tasting what is made locally. They had no locals. Wine is produced on PEI.

Reservations recommended! We walked in, and luckily there were spots at the bar. Great food and better service. We had our server pick out a dozen oysters for us. Lovely! We chose the jerk crab legs and mussels of course. Both were great choices. I've never had better crab legs. They stole the show. Considering the oysters were a must and mussels were in season, the crab legs were the best. It was more of a mild jerk rub but enough to flavor. Definitely a must try.

Um, $1.50 oysters from 11am - 6pm, sold! They were great and the beet salad is terrific. Great spot with great music and great food.

Best place to eat in Charlottetown! The food is amazing, and service is stellar. We went to a few other highly rated places, but this one by far exceeded our expectations. We had the oysters, surf and turf, and seafood pasta.

Lovely experience this evening at Claddagh. We couldn't decide on a main meal, so we opted to share appetizers. The oysters Rockefeller were outstanding. What a treat! Not often gluten free as these were. We loved the peach burrata salad, delicious flavors with the green and yellow tomatoes but the lack of burrata was disappointing (it was sprinkled on the salad and barely discernible). If you are looking for the traditional large piece of burrata this isn't the salad for you. The mussels were delicious. My husband said the Jerk crab legs were the best he's ever had. Wonderful service in a very pretty environment. Highly recommend!

As always found this place on Yelp w good reviews n Stopped by for dinner 2 nites ago while in Charlottetown PEI. Lovely clean restaurant w friendly welcoming staff. We had the the lobster aranchini and grilled corn arugula salad w oven dried tomatoes, wheat berries, dried corn and basil pesto dressing. Both were delicious n flavorful. For entrees we had the portobello Wellington, grilled halibut, beef strip loin and Claddagh surf and turf. The surf n turf was different w crispy pork belly that tasted so good. The portobello Wellington was very good n moist. The grilled halibut was moist and very tasty. The beef strip loin perfectly done n delicious. They all came w sides . I had the colcannin - Irish mash potatoes w cabbage. Yummy n I've never tasted it before.very flavorful. Baby reds w cheddar was good too and so was the dressed greens. And we topped it off w sticky toffee pudding n crème brûlée. That sticky toffee pudding was rich n heavenly. Yum yum yum. The crème brûlée was good too. Ona recent trip to Prince Edward Islam, we had a reservation at Claddagh Oyster House. It is an intimate restaurant with excellent service and good. We started with the mussels and ended with the bread pudding. Everything was fresh, hot and so wonderful tasting. Make a reservation to experience this place. You will not be disappointed.

Bridget was a great help in deciding what to eat. She was right about the melt in your mouth steak. I'm 66 and this was the first steak that ACTUALLY melted in my mouth. Lobster dinner was delicious. Colcannon yummy. And the sticky toffee pudding was BOMB. Lovely setting.

Food, service and ambiance were all great. The "green" raw oysters were fabulous. My husband had fish chowder. I had the brick chicken which was also excellent. Best meal during this 3 week trip.

Review for dinner at the bar - we had "The Board" (meats, cheeses, bread, etc.) and that was enough food for a light dinner. The highlight was bartender Joshua and his stories, jokes, etc. In our week split between Halifax and Charlottetown, this was our best meal, hands down!

The Claddagh Oyster House has it all: intimate upscale ambiance, great staff and The.Best.Oysters.Ever. While on a bus tour in the Canadian Maritimes, we had a free evening in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Stopped in the COH for a glass of wine and to share an order of Oysters Rockefeller. The OR are the best we have ever had - large, perfectly topped, and flavorful. So good, in fact, that we ordered seconds. We then tried a sampler (2 each of 3 varieties) and they were amazing - plump, flavorful and briny. Our server, Bridgitte, was friendly, attentive and informative and her recommendations ensured that we had an absolutely perfect visit.

The food was very good. Top quality steaks, perfectly cooked risotto, and very tasty desserts. I highly recommend eating at the bar as the cocktailist Joshua is amazing. Super friendly and talented. The drinks were perfect. Has a clean, dim, and quiet atmosphere.

What a treat! Based on Yelp reviews, we dropped in shortly after the place opened on a Thursday night. Although there were no tables available for another two hours, the hostess invited us to sit at the bar. I was reluctant at first but she urged us to try it. Wow. The bar has only four chairs on each side, providing plenty of elbow room, and the chairs are of normal height. The bar itself is inlaid with various mollusk shells, and you get a great view of what's going on at the bar. I highly recommend sitting there! We started with a dozen oysters, which were great. I ordered the seafood pasta and my husband the French onion oxtail broth soup. Both were absolutely delicious. Our server, who was also the bartender, mixed a great Cosmo and was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We tremendously enjoyed not only the meal but the whole experience.

What a treat to go for dinner with friends on Saturday night to the Claddagh Oyster House!! Our server, Andrew, was very professional and took excellent care of us, without being overbearing. My food choice was the Jerk-Style Crab legs which were the tastiest I have ever eaten and it was such a treat!!! I also had the Shrimp Tempura with a side Kale Caesar Salad!!! My husband had the Mussels to start and the Halibut Special of the Day and he was very happy with his choices. Absolutely scrumptious!!! And we finished off with the Sticky Date Pudding which was perfect for sharing! What a perfectly lovely evening!!! Thank you Andrew and chefs for your gifts of service!!!

I ordered backed lobster and lobster poutine. Food took a little longer to make it to our table. But it tasted good. The staff were getting ready for big party. I was expecting the salad but it's available only for supper.

Excellent service and food quality! The Valentines Day special was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! We started with arancini and carrot soup appetizers, then halibut and surf and turf (scallops and pork belly) entrees finally sticky date pudding and chocolate mousse. The ambiance with limited seating made for perfect intimate dinner with my partner. New renovations are taking place in March, I'll be heading back to experience the result.

Great food! Wonderful service. Nice ambiance. We started with 1/2 dozen oysters, 3 different varieties; delicious!!! My husband had lobster boil. I had brick pressed chicken with Irish mash. Everything was so very tasty ! For dessert we shared the fig pudding with warm toffee sauce. This was so great!!! Highly recommend eating here! Also good choices for wine by the glass.

Outstanding. My wife said she hasn't tasted oysters this good in a very long time. Also said her cosmo was made exactly the way she likes it. Kale caesar salad, grilled halibut with Irish mashed potatoes, and grilled scallops were all excellent. Sticky fig dessert was also delicious. Best restaurant experience we've had in New Brunswick, by a wide margin.

Oysters very good but a little pricey if all you want are oysters, which is all I was after. The place is quite cozy.

Nice dark woody atmosphere, solid food and drinks and great service. We sat in the upstairs booth by the window looking across at this beautiful old church. The dark beers and appetizers hit the spot on a rainy afternoon.

Excellent lobster dinner and seafood pasta bowl! Desserts were yummy as well. We didn't have a reservation but was seated right away. Our server was very friendly, funny and just made our experience enjoyable.

We were planning to eat at another restaurant but the hostess there was rude and didn't seem to care whether we ate there or not. Took a walk and stumbled on this place. It was our lucky night as we were warmly greeted and seated. Our server was excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly. We had lobster and seafood chowder. Dinner came with well seasoned vegetables and the Irish Mash is a winner. Don't skip dessert and go for the date pudding. Overall a great experience!

This is a gem in Charlottetown, Nova Scotia!!!! We made reservations on our tour bus for that evening and so very glad we did. It is a small restaurant so you really need to make your reservation early. Katrina, our waitress and bartender made my espresso martini and hubby's LIIT perfectly. We ordered our appetizers: pickled beet salad for me and oysters Rockefeller for him, both fantastic! We also ordered some sour dough bread which was a little charred and Katrina brought us a couple of their cheddar biscuits which she said we HAD to try. She paced our evening so we never felt rushed and enjoyed as much as we could eat and still walk out with our dignity! Hubby's braised short ribs were fork tender and he gave me a bite which would have been my second choice but I decided to go with the salmon which was great. He left a square inch of room left for dessert....sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. I gained 5 pounds just looking at it and another 2 pounds for the taste I had. This is such a charming place to dine and is rated #1 by TripAdvisor as the best restaurant!!!! Absolutely no argument there!!!!

Really glad we stumbled upon this restaurant. Brandon was such a great waiter and made our evening special. The oyster sampler was delicious, the lobster risotto as well. The island beef tenderloin was the star of the show... and for people in town for seafood, that's saying something. Will definitely be back!

Well, we are back in Charlottetown PEI and happy to be here! Love this beautiful little place and Claddagh Oyster House is one of our favourite dinner restaurants! We started with the Jerked Crab & Lobster Risotto and what a treat, so after the first round we decided to get a second, so crazy good we didn't order a main dish. The Harp Lager on tap was the perfect beer with my meal, my wife had their Ceaser and to finish our dinner the Date pudding!! These 2 starters are a must, you haven't lived until you've covered your fingers with the sticky gooey Jerked Crab !

We ordered lobster, fresh oysters, mussels, grilled halibut and seafood pasta. The service was above average, the food came within a reasonable wait time. The noise level was low enough that we could hear our friends talk at our table. Overall, the food was excellent and the portion size was just perfect. The kale Caesar salad and the pickled beet salad were tasty, not too saucy or salty. the kind of salad we see in modern kitchen. Most food were excellent except for the pasta, which was too salty for us. We also ordered two desserts, a white chocolate & brown butter bread pudding and a sticky date, both were not often seen in restaurant menus and both were fresh and delicious.

Claddagh serves good seafood in an upscale environment with high prices to match. I came here to try some of PEI's famed seafood. The restaurant is located in the heart of historic Charlottetown, just off Queen Street. When you walk inside, you'll be greeted by a fancy, intimate interior with comfortable tables and nice furnishings. The menu isn't too large, but it has a nice assortment of options. I chose the lobster dinner, along with just one oyster to try. The oyster was refreshing and slightly salty. The steamed lobster was fresh and satisfying. Cracking it open and digging for the meat was fun - like an edible treasure hunt. For sides, the lobster came with Irish mashed potatoes and vegetables - they were good but unremarkable. Overall, the meal was tasty. For the price, though, it would've been nice to get either more food or higher quality food. For $50 (after tax and tip), there are many meals I've enjoyed more. Check out Claddagh if you're in the mood for some spendy wine-ing and dine-ing. But if you just want delicious food, you can probably find a cheaper option.

This review is so overdue! It would be tragic for me not to do a review for a restaurant that's so deserving of a great compliment! We had a magnificent dinner at Claddagh's. Just exceptional in every way! If we weren't all the way in California, we'd be regulars! My husband was introduced to Claddagh's on a business trip and vowed to dine here when we visit Nova Scotia...so we made a trip of it! Claddagh has the old school steakhouse feel and look, a traditionally intimate setting. It's actually a pretty small restaurant, interestingly. Or maybe there's a top floor, I'm not sure. I had 2 servings of the amazing moonshine margaritas! Woohoo!! We were seated at a table near the bar area. Our server was, from the start, just wonderful. If my memory serves me well, I think his name was Ben. He had great knowledge of the drinks and the food menu. So we decided to order per his recommendation. Seriously, Everything was amazing! I can't believe, something as simple as a salad could be stunningly delicious! I think it was the candied toffee that made the salad pop! My lobster? Fantastic! Cooked to perfection! I love, love, love seafood! Ohhhhh and the lobster risotto? To die for!!!! Sometimes you just cannot describe how delicious food is- except to say that it was deliciously orgasmic! Am I right? Lol Claddagh....I'll definitely see you next time I'm in Nova Scotia! Thank you for an exquisite meal and top notch service!

Great restaurant, celebrated or 25th anniversary, great food and service, definitely would recommend it.

Such a cute place - this small little gem was delightful. The waterfall was our backdrop - Started off with a great beer - I had my doubts about a strawberry/rhubarb flavor. After given a taste, ordered it. Light without too much of a strong strawberry flavor. Our server was attentive and explained everything well. We loved the oysters - ordered 4 different types. Hoping to take advantage of the $1 oysters; we found after we were seated in the main dining room that it was only upstairs. So, unfortunately, that didn't happen. So.... we paid full price and truly they were worth it. The lobster risotto was excellent The whole lobster was cooked perfectly - lots of butter - Don't miss the seafood chowder as it is one of the better chowders tasted in the northeast. Oh, and the potatoes! Mashed potatoes. Those were Amazing! Don't forget them. We are ice cream lovers and drat.... the ice cream machine was broken - so we passed on the desserts. Somehow they didn't quite sound the same with whipped cream.

Stopped in here right before close to try the oysters, first impression is that service is AMAZING. Our server was so helpful, attentive and friendly-he really made the experience for us! We shared some oysters, a bottle of muscadet and each had a chowder. Definitely our best fine dining experience in PEI!
