Let's start off with the positive. Clamber Hill is a beautiful old building on a lovely property at the top of a wooded hill. The room was well appointed and comfortable, and the breakfasts were satisfying and very good.
But...
Part of the charm of staying at a country inn/B&B are the personal touches - the warm welcome, pointing out the common areas, the amenities, where to find coffee, etc. None of that was evident upon our arrival (nor afterwards). The innkeeper seemed mildly surprised at our appearance (but then did remember our reservation). He showed us to our room in silence, asked what time we wanted breakfast and was gone.
We were not given a front door key ("We leave the door unlocked"), which is fine. However, upon returning to the inn at the end of the day at 9:15pm, the innkeeper was standing in the light at the door entrance, waiting for us. We were let in with a cheerless "good evening/did you have a good day", after which he closed and locked the door immediately behind us. As we went upstairs to our room, I felt like a 16 year who had been out too late on her date, dreading the next morning's lecture and punishment.
The last nail in the coffin was the internet - or rather the lack thereof. In an old building out in the country, I certainly understand that access can be slow or spotty. However, we were unable to establish a connection on any of our devices even once during our two day stay. While not an internet junkie, I DO use the internet each day on vacation to help plan our travels, check times, distances, etc. (Geek interlude... I'm an IT professional. Their problems were not entirely ISP related).
In conclusion, while the location was convenient for our purposes, I'm not really interested in returning.
