Amazing small and authentic family restaurant that has to be on your devour list, if you visit Lisbon. The food was so good, that I forgot to make pictures of all the dishes, but trust me you won't be disappointed. Small menu and all dishes are freshly made and the two sisters are all heart and passion for Portuguese food! 100% recommendation!

Google
The food was good, and we enjoyed every bite, but the prices were quite high versus the size of the portions. Authentic atmosphere and not that touristy, even though very close to the castle. Friendly staff. Small place, about 5 tables indoors and 2-3 outside. Really recommend the nut pie.

After a steep walk up the hillside we dined at this well-known restaurant near the castle in Lisbon, expecting a memorable experience. The food was good, but not extraordinary—certainly not enough to justify the prices. While the presentation was nice, the fish didn’t stand out compared to other great (and more reasonably priced) restaurants in the city. The restaurant seems to thrive more on its reviews than on the value of its offerings.

Cash only!! The cod fillet was absolutely delicious and probably my favorite meal in Lisbon. Orange chicken was good. The atmosphere is very cozy and cute. I definitely recommend this place!

Google
Great local and authentic restaurant. Only room for about 12 people in total so you need to be lucky to get in. Food is excellent, we were 4 people and each got a different dish that was delicious. Food is not expensive, but it is a cash only place.

Had a wonderful time here. The food was absolutely delicious would highly recommend the cod cream pie and the octopus. The orange cake was also delicious. We will definitely be back. They take card and the owner was very friendly 🤩

Yelp
Another amazing spot that's in the corner of a very touristy section of town, but you should really stop here even if it looks like a tourist spot. The owner and his wife are great. They are working hard every day and if you are lucky get there in the evening before the tourist attractions close. It's lovely on this corner. The metro bus passing you buy at 0.5m. This place is tiny with a few tables. Try to get the one outside and watch the world go by. The food is spectacular, we had the polvo was so tender (and easy to make according to him. The price galo (John dory) and the polvi (octopus was so tender and tasty). It's clear that the good ingredients make a difference. The Frango was with tomato (chicken) was really phenomenal. The drinks were wonderful. Nothing like 1.5L of sangria and caprinha (the vodka version of a Caltonska). The Porto to end the meal was great. Overall a magical place time. Thanks so much. Not to be missed!

Yelp
Nice little spot just under the Castelo de Jorge. The restaurant could only seat 12 inside and 8 outside. The was only a man and woman working at the restaurant. The man explained the menu to us and the wine list too. This was the est food I had in Lisbon. I enjoyed the chicken and the fish. We tried both desserts offered that day and was not disappointed. The service was excellent. The bad.... Well you need to have a lot of time to eat here. From start to finish we were there for 3 hours. We got to know the couple in the table next to us well. Don't rush him, I think he was annoyed with us near the end.

Yelp
Attempted to eat at this little restaurant near the Castle. The gentleman that first approached was very kind and took our full order. However, his partner/wife later came out screaming and being very rude because we had water bottles sitting on the table and one of the kids was eating some pizza from down the street. We never received the wine ordered and at that point felt as if she were telling us to leave so we did not stay to get all of the food we ordered. We would have stayed had the woman not been so offensive and rude. Very unlike all the other locals we encountered in Portugal as everyone else was so kind and hospitable.

Yelp
Very cozy but DELICIOUS! The owner is very gracious and also sells gorgeous jewelry made by her mother. Generous pours on the wine.

Yelp
After reading the reviews on Clara's, we decided to make the hike up the hill to have supper one Monday night. We didn't realize just how small the place is, and she was barely able to squeeze us in on our promise that we'd be out of there before the folks with the 9:00 reservation arrived. We're glad she did! She was a very nice lady, going through the menu and describing each of the dishes. (I think there's basically one guy working the kitchen, so it's not a big menu.) We started with the chourico plate, which was wonderful. There were about six different cured meats on the platter, all of which were excellent. Some hearty bread was served to go with the meat. My main course was cod cooked with peppers and it was delicious. My wife went with the cod and cream, which we all agreed was done very well. My daughter has been doing something of a survey of grilled octopus in Portugal, and Clara's was the fourth version she's tried so far. It was maybe the best, having just the right amount of tenderness and a lot of flavor. Clara suggested a wine for us which was excellent. Unfortunately, by the time we got through it all, we had no room for dessert. When we left, she had plenty of time to clear the table for that 9:00 group. So in summary, nice lady, great food good wine, excellent service. Mike sez check it out!

Yelp
This place has all the signatures of a tourist trap with bad food - located adjacent to the entrance of a tourist attraction, empty dining room at 1 P.M. on a weekend, and displays of non-food related merchandize in the dining room. The truth could be any further. We dropped in for lunch based on recommendation of the guide of a recent tour. Despite our doubt, we decided to trust our guide....and so glad we did. It was one of our best meals in Portugal! We ordered lamb stew, meat pie, stuffed squid, and monk fish. Every dish was delicious. My favorite is the stuffed squid. Nothing fancy...just really fresh squid stuffed with really fresh shrimp. As soon as I bite into the squid, there was an explosion of seafood flavor. And the squid was so well cooked and tender...it almost melts in my mouth. The meat pie was really good too....the chorizo in it gives it a unique smoky flavor. Because the entrees were so good, we decided to order dessert...great move!! I didn't even know what we ordered - one was a dried fruit cake with almond, the other was like a custard pudding. Both are flavorful and not too sweet....perfect with a cup of unsweetened coffee. The service was great too. The two servers patiently explained the menu, which is in Portuguese. Throughout lunch, they were friendly, helpful, and courteous. Of course they were very happy that we couldn't stop complimenting the food. Overall, it's highly recommended.

Yelp
I give this a 4.5. Great food, with great service. The place is very small, and the menu is entirely in Portuguese (the server explains all of the menu items for you though). I got to try two pork dishes and the salmon, and the food was rich with great flavours. The sides that came with the mains were average (baked potatoes, garden salad, etc.). The wine we got was great as well, and relatively cheap. For desert, I tried the lemon/lime mousse which was very rich and good, and their homemade nata which was delicious (and also a bit unique - I recommend). Overall I definitely recommend this restaurant. I'm not the most educated in Portuguese cuisine, but this felt like a very authentic experience. The price was also good, you can get a good sized main for 13-16 pounds!

Yelp
Incredible lunch spot just outside the Castelo do S. Jorge exit. The dishes were surprisingly inventive and tasty, and very inexpensive for the quality. It's literally an 8-table hole in the wall joint, and there is literally someone's grandmother in the kitchen. You might walk right past it if you can even find it, have a very inexpensive vino while you wait for a table, it's worth it.

Yelp
Stopped by after visiting the castle, which is about a block away. It's a small restaurant with 4-6 tables. And, yes, there are craft items for sale in the space, too (that the wife makes). The husband was very kind about explaining the menu. The food was fine, but definitely one of the least memorable meals I had in Portugal.

Yelp
We chose this restaurant for our anniversary lunch after the visit to Castelo de Sao Jorge. It is kind of built into the old walls of the castle, which gives it a lot of character and charming ambience. We went in for lunch after our visit to the castle. There are exactly 4 tables inside and couple of tables outside. Even though it is listed as a €€€ priced restaurant, the menu was inexpensive and reasonably priced I don't understand why the other reviewers have given such bad reviews, but the owner was really friendly and went out of his way to take care of us. He even game a complimentary glass of milk for the kiddo. We tried the fish (Filete de Pescado) and a puff pastry entrees. They were both tasty and filling.

Yelp
A little hidden gem in the neighborhood. We walked by it few times and there is always a wait. They also take reservation too. Finally got lucky yesterday for our late lunch at 2:30 pm. It was worth the wait. It's just a comfortable space with homemade food. Everything was fresh tasting and tasty; we had cod and stuffed calamari, yum yum ; the portion is also perfect to allow me to fit in dessert

Yelp
What a complete d*ck. I came because of reviews on a different site. The menu looked good, but I also needed to check in on some emails for work. The owner went out of his way to insult and be condescending about it being a place to eat and not for wifi, no thanks wifi Nazi (Seinfield reference), keep your food, I'll go somewhere else where customer service will go a lot further. In all seriousness, this guy walked out to the door to keep insulting. Stay away if possible. I hope this guy learns that customers pay the bills, a simple "sorry no" would have sufficed. Walked into WineBar do Castelo and the bartender was really helpful, very insightful with his wine recommendations and was generous with his wifi.

Yelp
This was literally the worst service I have ever seen. The owner is a complete jerk, the other reviews are not kidding. I feel bad for his poor wife.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal in this intimate spot tucked next the castle. Everything was delightful from the service, the wine, our entrees and dessert. Seek it out.

Yelp
Excellent small restaurant near the Solar do Castelo. Had the pork chop with roasted potatoes (golden and sweet) for the main course and stated with the bread/olives/sardine pate. Very nice owner/waiter and enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and music. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Visited based on many online recommendations. My family and I were not disappointed. A limited menu but well cooked and wholesome food cooked and presented by people who care and who seriously would like you to enjoy and come back. The 4 of us walked in and got a table around 2000. As there are only 12 covers, we were very lucky to do this and saw more than a dozen people turned away as they were full. Strongly recommend making a reservation. You will not be disappointed

Yelp
This place serves the best port wine at a very affordable price. Very homie and small with very friendly and nice owners. The alley is really beautiful, ideally you can get a seat outside.
