Best Beaches in Key West, Florida

"It's just a few blocks west of Smathers Beach and another very popular destination, so don't expect to have it to yourself. You’ll find everything you need here for a fun beach day, including shallow waters for swimming and snorkeling over seagrasses, plus beach volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts, and even a beachfront playground for children. Hit cafe Salute! On the Beach for Caribbean-inflected seafood dishes and tropical cocktails. There are some serious historical sights here, too. The beach park is home to a Civil War era fort; the largest African refugee burial ground in the northern hemisphere (honoring victims of slave ships); and the Key West AIDS Memorial." - Travel + Leisure Editors

It was good to visit it to say we went. But not for anyone with any kind of leg issues. (I use a cane) The beach is steep, due to them needing to ship sand in from The Bahamas. Because you are in a Key (land made from coral and shells) and not an island. And once you get down the beach, you have to get through the shell and coral. Water shoes are a MUST HAVE! What you bring in, you have to take out with you, there are NO trash cans. Plenty of picnic tables, free to use, and you can rent a beach umbrella and chairs. They also have a pavilion you can a sit under as well as a concession stand for munchies and water/soda. But remember, no trash cans, so if you get a hotdog and drink, you’re taking that trash with you. Also, you are not allowed to have adult beverages, at all.

This beach was okay. There are alot of rocks right along the shore where you walk in (you cant avoid it), we almost fell every time getting in and out perhaps because the waves were kind of strong that day and there was also a steep dip in the water along the rocks/shore. The water was nice and it was very clean. The stairway to get to that pier was super slippery due to the algae so be careful. One really cool thing was that although the beach is small.there was an umbrella and chair service there for cheap, you could rent all day until 5pm. There were some beautiful palm and coconut trees and there was a restaurant with clean bathrooms right next to it. It was also very lively but not too loud, people playing volleyball and some people playing an instrument on the sand, it was pleasant. It was nice for my hubby and I to relax and drink but I would not bring my kids here and if we had a car I might go to another beach because of the rocky shoreline.

Very disappointing experience. The beach had a lot of scattered trash littering the sand and shoreline. Also, there was a very large amount of seaweed/seagrass along the shore line. A local told me that is typical for this particular beach, which is why they're are two sets of stairs off the pier. They allow entry into the water past the seaweed. However, the water depth there (by the stairs) when we visited was over 6.5'- which wasn't ideal for our family without a life guard present. We didn't see outdoor foot showers. There was a sign explaining how you can swim right to a snorkeling reef path, which sounds great for those interested in snorkeling in deeper waters

This location offers one of Key West's prime sunset viewing spots, ideal for capturing the island's famous evening sky. The real advantage here is the convenient free public parking nearby - a rare find in Key West where parking fees can be notably expensive. Location Benefits: - Prime sunset viewing location on the pier - Free public parking available (around 10 min walk) - Easy walking distance to the viewing area - Significant cost savings on parking Pro Tip: Arrive 30-45 minutes before sunset to secure both a parking spot and a good viewing position on the pier

Beach was fine, but I'd recommend watershoes. The first 20 feet is all rocks and coral. I had to carry my youngest out to the sandy part. Bathrooms were fairly clean but no changing rooms. Free parking was appreciated. Got to see a turtle released.

The beach is beautiful and it's one of the only beaches on Key West with parking. We got up early and walked along the beach. Then we walked unto the pier and waited for the sunrise. Even the clouds couldn't put a damper on the magnificence of the sun rising!

Lovely white sand beach with clean, clear, cold in Nov, water. Perfect place to park and unwind. Parking was free. Southernmost point was a 15 minute walk and so was Duval St. There's a tennis and volley ball court, and I saw two gazebos of which one was in use. The beach boasts one large restaurant with plenty of seats. Public bathrooms for the beach were extremely clean. Did not see a family restroom though. The kids "park" was cordoned off as if it was damaged by a storm, but, it's not really necessary on a beach. Quite pleased with the beach.

This beach is always clean. If you can’t find parking just go around the block that the tennis courts are in and there’s free parking back there.
