"It's just a few blocks west of Smathers Beach and another very popular destination, so don't expect to have it to yourself. You’ll find everything you need here for a fun beach day, including shallow waters for swimming and snorkeling over seagrasses, plus beach volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts, and even a beachfront playground for children. Hit cafe Salute! On the Beach for Caribbean-inflected seafood dishes and tropical cocktails. There are some serious historical sights here, too. The beach park is home to a Civil War era fort; the largest African refugee burial ground in the northern hemisphere (honoring victims of slave ships); and the Key West AIDS Memorial." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Beach was fine, but I'd recommend watershoes. The first 20 feet is all rocks and coral. I had to carry my youngest out to the sandy part. Bathrooms were fairly clean but no changing rooms. Free parking was appreciated. Got to see a turtle released.

This location offers one of Key West's prime sunset viewing spots, ideal for capturing the island's famous evening sky. The real advantage here is the convenient free public parking nearby - a rare find in Key West where parking fees can be notably expensive. Location Benefits: - Prime sunset viewing location on the pier - Free public parking available (around 10 min walk) - Easy walking distance to the viewing area - Significant cost savings on parking Pro Tip: Arrive 30-45 minutes before sunset to secure both a parking spot and a good viewing position on the pier

The beach is beautiful and it's one of the only beaches on Key West with parking. We got up early and walked along the beach. Then we walked unto the pier and waited for the sunrise. Even the clouds couldn't put a damper on the magnificence of the sun rising!

Lovely white sand beach with clean, clear, cold in Nov, water. Perfect place to park and unwind. Parking was free. Southernmost point was a 15 minute walk and so was Duval St. There's a tennis and volley ball court, and I saw two gazebos of which one was in use. The beach boasts one large restaurant with plenty of seats. Public bathrooms for the beach were extremely clean. Did not see a family restroom though. The kids "park" was cordoned off as if it was damaged by a storm, but, it's not really necessary on a beach. Quite pleased with the beach.

This public beach is not crowded, very clean, and supervised by public works. The public workers are eager to answer questions about parking and the purchase of nearby food. Beautiful surroundings so don't forget to bring your swimwear.

Lovely beach, the water was rather shallow making it good for kids but maybe not so great for people who prefer swimming. The beach was sandy, but walking into the water it was a bit rocky and some of the rocks were rather sharp. Plus because of the sand the water was not transparent so you could not see bigger rocks and you could stub your toe quite easily. Other than that, it was very clean and not too crowded when I visited.

Nice beach with a nice walking pier. I'm told they have shark fencing(?) To prevent them from coming close to shore. The bottom is nice and sandy. There weren't a lot of big waves, so you could float lazily in an interlude or other flotation device.

Depending on the time of year you may experience a lot of seaweed. Went recently and there was just a little bit and the beach was beautiful. It is usually not too wavy but even with a little waves the water is not super clear. I did see sting rays in the swimming area so you have to keep any eye out not to step on them. I recommend water shoes if you have them as most beaches in Key West have rocks/shells and you have to step on the first few meters in the water and then it usually gets sandy again. There are washrooms on site with outdoor showers to rinse off. Sometimes the homeless people will use them. There is also a little pier you can walk out on and it is common to see sharks or other wildlife
