Clarion Collection Hotel Bilan

Great value for money! I have stayed here several times before. It’s a natural overnight stop when I am driving to Stockholm or Finland. I have been here for a weekend stay as well. This last trip was a stop over. It was fantastic to have the delicious, included, dinner upon arrival after many hours of driving. Friendly staff, good food and clean rooms. Easy walking distance to the city center and convenient parking. I will definitely keep returning!

I can recommend this hotel, it is small and cozy and the rooms are nice. The staff is friendly and the evening meal delicious. This building also has a mini museum, and you can read stories about those who used to live here... it has been said that they are still roaming around, that is, if you believe in ghosts. They are from the old times, from when it used to be a prison. Anyway, I did sleep well tucked in between soft hotel pillows after a nice sauna. The sauna is located next to the old prison cells... and a mini gym. I would like to see a refreshment of the relax and sauna area since it was not really taken care of. This would really lift up the place.

Don’t have to much expectations from this hotel besides the bed which is very comfortable. |The fan in the room was so loud I could barely sleep. There was also a newspaper stuck in it; don’t get why…. The dinner that was included for the stay is definitely not for the picky eaters. Pasta that changed color cos it was there all day, soup that was cold and the pasta sauce that was bland. ||Breakfast is ok, don’t expect to much. The staff is ok. |I found free parking outside which definitely is a plus.

as soon as we arrived we got to know that they would not clean the room for our two day stay, and that if we needed extra towels we should inform the reception. As usual as in the rest of Sweden lack of service, unless you stay in a 5 star or eat in a 5 star restaurant. The dinner included in the price was worse than cafeteria level, with h ardly any choice of food, no cheese, no dessert nothing. Cold water and bad coffee were available though, as well as half rotten apples which are supposed to constitute a dessert. The room: because of the heat we opened the window, and were not able to sleep all night: the noise from the trainstation was okk enough, but the constant driving of cars with full music blasting everywhere until 5 am was unbearable. This is a wellknown phenomenon in Sweden (Rånare), but nevertheless extremely unconfortable. All in all: lack of service and lack of sleep means NEVER ever again in this establishment.

Very happy stay and big thanks to the nice and lovely Klara who helped out with our booking on short notice. The hotel is located well in the town and even if its small its still a nice place to stay on a short visit.

I really liked that dinner was included in the price! Simple dinner but still nice and good value for money. Staff was really friendly and helpful adding an "at home" feeling during our stay. Rooms were quite small and the bar and the gym also. Still, not a big problem since the staff managed to find good workarounds to accommodate our stay.

Clarion Hotel Bilan is housed in the former city jail, and the rooms, corridors and stairwells all feature pictures related to that theme - old protocols and letters, drawings and such. There's apparently even a prison museum downstairs, something I missed completely.||||I had a room on the top floor, which was of decent size and perfectly clean. It was well lit, bed was comfortable and bathroom was functional. Hair dryer and iron was provided, and there were wall sockets right next to the bed.||||One thing that sets this hotel apart from others I've stayed at is that not only is breakfast included in the room rate - but so is afternoon "fika" as well as buffet dinner. This is perfect when travelling for business purposes - especially during the autumn/winter season - but might not be so good for personal travel, if you plan to go out for dinner as a couple or something (since the included meals likely increases the room price). The provided food was nice, though the dining room was small:ish, meaning you'll likely end up sharing a table with another party.||||All the staff I encountered - both in reception, in housekeeping and in the dining room - were extremely friendly and helpful. Apart from the meal, parking behind the hotel is free (stop by reception and they'll guide you to the hotel's spots) and good WiFi was available throughout the hotel. There's a small gym and a sauna available for guests as well.||||All in all, this was a very nice stay. I'll definitely stay here if/when I return to Karlstad!

We stayed on night on the way north for skiing. |Very nice and welcoming staff.||Very good price which includes full breakfast and dinner in the evening. The dinner included soup, various sallads, main course, fruit, coffe/tea. Very nice room and general interior in the hotel - which used to be a prison until late 1960’s so there are some artifacts around this history. ||Highly recommended!
