Clarion Collection Hotel Drott

We stayed here for a single night on our way from Stockholm to Oslo. It is a good stopping point in between these cities and Karlstad itself is a pretty town, but small. The hotel room was clean and reasonable with good wifi and a good shower. There is a small bar in the hotel with friendly staff, making that a nice place to have a relaxing drink before dinner. We also had dinner at the hotel and while it was nothing special and served as a buffet, the food was wholesome and reasonably good. The included breakfast was a bit spare, but perhaps this reflected the fact that we were shooting for a very early start when we left.

I cannot say enough good about this hotel. It is directly across from the train station and a super short walk to the waterways and restaurants. My room was teeny tiny, but I paid for the twin economy. My friend had a much larger room that was lovely. My room was decorated nicely, super quiet, and had a refrigerator and coffee/tea maker. The breakfast, Fika, and dinner are all included and are AMAZING. Everything is homemade. Their wine is expensive, but across the street is a wine shop with inexpensive wine so we rotated between buying wine across the street and taking it to the park and hanging in the Drott Bar which was lovely.

This is a lovely old hotel. It is in a great location. The room we had was very large and beautiful. We had a car and parking was very easy in a near by garage. The food for dinner and breakfast was very good.||We had drinks in the bar and the little lady that works the bar went above and beyond to help us in our drink selection.||Would highly recommend this hotel.

I actually can’t really complain about anything regarding our stay. The room was nice, staff were very friendly. It was clean, the food was good and it was a really pretty hotel. Probably the best Clarion Collection hotel I have stayed at! The only negative is that the parking is in a different building, but there isn’t really much they can do about that, so I won’t let that affect my rating. I would definitely stay again!

Top marks to the staff. They are professional, attentive, personable and make a great effort to make sure that guests are well attended to. The hotel looks dated from the outside, the trimmings are not super luxurious but the comfort level is tops. We visited in Summer and enjoyed our spacious airconditioned room. The room is fresh, sheets clean, shower is nice and bed is comfortable. The hotel included a complimentary supper. There is a different menu each evening. We found the food fresh, tasty, good quality and healthy. The breakfast was also very good with a selection of freshly baked breads and a continental spread. Although there were many guests, things are calm and relaxing. The food is topped up quickly and tables cleaned and cleared by the attentive staff. Highly recommended this hotel.
