After walking through the drizzly rain with our suitcases we arrived at the Clarion Admiral Hotel to be greeted by Permilla. An absolutely ray of sunshine!!! She was very friendly and professional instantly made us feel welcomed and set the tone for our visit. The hotel is well located. Rooms are good size with everything you need, including a jug. Breakfast has a great selection. Loved sitting on the terrace early evening having a drink with the boats on the river. Enjoyed our stay there.

The location is really nice and it’s convenient to so much! That was the biggest plus. Rooms are on the small side as are bathrooms but the walk in shower was very nice and quite large. Noise from the street is rather loud at night but you are in a busy part of the city and it’s kind of unavoidable. Breakfast is ok. The coffee was very average but there were a lot of food choices and there is window seating overlooking Bryggen as well as a lovely patio directly on the harbour. Staff was very pleasant. Room was clean enough. Would recommend.

Such a fantastic location 👏 right in the heart of Bergen Wharf Area. Tons of restaurants, grocery stores & museums all walking distance. There is a parking garage 5 mins away the hotel recommends when staying for discounted rates. The rooms are great, excellent shower & very courteous staff. The morning breakfast is a lavish affair with variety of bread, cereals, fruits, coffee, eggs & non vegetarian items for eaters. We had a great time having breakfast by the window table offering panoramic view of the Norwegian houses, Harbour & mountains. Yes don't miss the funicular mountain train operating few blocks from hotel for a Birdseye view of the city.

The hotel is in a great location opposite the Bryggen and a few minutes walk to the bus stop for the Flybussen (which goes to the airport). ||Our room was disappointing. Whilst it was a reasonable size, it was dated and without air conditioning, robes or slippers, toiletries, etc. The hotel also has no amenities which you might expect for the price, such as a gym, pool or Spa. ||Our complimentary buffet-only breakfast, however, was a tiny highlight with the buffet including a good selection of local and international options and nice views over to the Bryggen (there's a small outside terrace if it’s warm enough). ||Overall, this is a very basic hotel charging top-end prices which really could do with a complete refresh.

Best spot to be in Bergen. The rooms are a little on the small side but there's no reason to stay in them here. It's in the perfect spot away from the big crowds on the other side of the harbor and it's a spectacular view. Great breakfast and we were very glad to have stayed here for the first leg of our honeymoon stay. Would recommend and come back again.

Great hotel, older style but very comfortable. Bit of a rabbit Warren locating rooms as many of the older hotels are. Breakfast was magnificent, and free coffee and water in the lobby all day, so a pleasant place to sit and wait for connections etc

We unfortunately only stayed one night at this charming hotel, but if I was to return to Norway would make it my base! I upgraded to a waterside view, which was 100% worth it, Because the only downfall of the hotel was the rooms with disabled facilities had the most awful views! However, there was enough to hold onto for mobility impaired in the bathroom to manage for one night in a really lovely room! The bed was really comfortable. The view was amazing. The staff on reception and in the restaurant were really On point. What a phenomenal breakfast, There was something for everyone there was gluten-free and dairy free products easily available a selection of hot food, cold food, herring fish cheese, fruit yoghurts so no one could Ever go hungry! It was in an ideal situation to explore The town, Walking distance to absolutely everything. We went on a Cruise of the fjords, Explored the fish market and took the vernacular railway up to the highest point to have a drink and look at the views. The hotel added to making this a very memorable stay, thank you!

I rarely leave strongly negative reviews, but my stay at Clarion Hotel Admiral was truly unacceptable.||First, the hotel provides no phone in the rooms, meaning you cannot contact reception or any hotel staff directly. You are expected to dial in from an outside line, which is absurd for a supposed 4-star property — and when the line is busy, you simply go unanswered.||Second, while I understand that many European hotels lack air conditioning, this property also fails to provide even a basic fan. To make matters worse, the windows do not open, leaving the rooms hot, airless, and suffocating. Staying in these conditions was nothing short of torture.||A hotel that charges premium rates should not ignore such fundamental necessities for guest comfort and safety. My experience was so unpleasant that I would not recommend this property to anyone, and I regret having booked it.

Yelp
I stayed here in early October on a business trip - as many other reviewers note, there is no AC. Not so much an issue in October, but the room did get quite stuffy, so I would need to sleep with the balcony door open...which then lets in street noise. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker. Rooms were comfortable enough; what I would consider your normal "European" style room - very efficiently arranged to not waste space, but also not too much area to spread out your things, especially in the bathroom! Convenient location on the harbor in the heart of Bergen - great walking to most of what you would want to do in town/tourist attractions.

Yelp
Here in the middle of summer. Hotel has No AC and when I asked for a fan because other rooms came with one they told me they didn't have enough to accommodate. The room is so Hot that it's hard to breath when your in it and forget sleeping comfortably in this heat. Spring for a better hotel with some kinda Air system.

Yelp
I loved staying here and it was within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, fish market, etc. We were part of a tour group and I believe there were 3 other tours staying here at the same time. The view of the harbor was spectacular! Our room was very nice with an updated bathroom. I found the front desk people to be very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Stayed here as a treat on my last night in Norway. It's pricey but really worth it. Lovely location in the heart of the downtown and right on the water. We actually had a window open up onto the water. The room was perfect this time. Amazing bed. So many pillows and so comfortable. Television was nice, chair and table a great addition. The bathroom was roomy. The shower leaked but only a little. The star of the stay with the complementary breakfast. It is an amazing spread. Mixture of western and Scandinavian breakfast items. I can't believe they allow you to have that much food for free. The smoothies are fantastic as is the overall selection of yogurt. I felt so refreshed after eating here. Lots of seating and ever attentive staff to take away dirty dishes and replenish items. You should stay just for that free breakfast. It's worth the price of a room! They also validate parking which is good since it's hard to come by and a bit expensive. No noise issues and I even witnessed the front desk staff keep her cool as a woman was yelling at her about lack of Catholic churches in the area. Very nice staff.

Yelp
The hotel is quite nice, albeit a bit cramped in regards to room size. The showers are your normal Scandinavian shower with odd splatter all over everything does/enclosures. Okay, that sounds fairly negative and it is, but that is the only thing that sorta almost sucks about this place. The rooms are quiet even though we look out directly on to the water. The beds are comfortable. The staff is helpful and kind. The location is lovely and the views are of the chain/hook/something.

Yelp
This hotel is a very nice place to stay in Bergen Norway. Location was great for our itinerary. We would love to stay here again. The restaurant was very nice also.

Yelp
The Clarion chain tends to be very middle of the road appealing to the bus and cruise crowd, and this hotel has more than its share of tour groups staying at its premises. This property, however, is superior on many levels. The rooms are spacious, the views are spectacular (right on the harbor), and the service is very good. Here the customer is king. And on that note, my family had an incident with room service where a meal was not delivered, causing my son to go without dinner. Initially we believed it was the restaurants fault. Upon discussion with the Hovmester of the restaurant, Manuel Coya, he offered to comp my son's meal the next evening. Later it turned out that the mix up may have in fact been caused by a member of my family, Mr. Coya insisted that he still offer us a free meal, even though I told him that we should pay for our meal. What great customer service.

Yelp
The five stars is for Manuel at the restaurant and bar at the Clarion hotel. We didn't stay here in Bergen although if the hotel is anything like the restaurant I'm sure we would've been as impressed. My friends and I stopped by to see the view and didn't realize the bar was in the lobby and confused the restaurant with the bar. Manuel (one of the servers at the hotel) greeted us and not only offered to let us take pictures from the terrace but also offered coffee/tea to warm up from the cold. Probably the nicest person we've met in Norway and had we not been tired and just finished our dinner, we would've gladly stayed here and enjoyed the view and company. Thank you Manuel for treating us tourists with such kindness :) if not for you, I wouldn't have written this review!

Yelp
Location is excellent as it's a short walk to the fish market, the shopping across the water, restaurants, and the funicular station. Hotel was still not yet renovated when we visited in 2010. And we had read mixed reviews about the room assignments before we arrived. Hoping for the best, especially since we needed a triple room, we were surprised to find that they allocated us a very nice room on the top floor of the main building. Looking at their updated website since the recent renovations, apparently we were booked into what they term the 'dobbel suite' good for 4 people maximum. The windows sloped and opened outward as we were like in an attic room of sorts. But there was good space for the three of us. The bathroom made good use of the space by being an all in one type with shower, sink, and toilet together. Just needed to make sure to position the huge door properly to segregate the shower from the rest of the room or the entire room may end up getting soaked. They offer a nice buffet breakfast that's a combination of English type and Scandic type of fare. So one could get eggs and bacon along with herring, sardines, etc. as well as the normal stuff like cereals, yogurt, and breads. Sometimes the food was low due to the crowds, but the staff tried to keep replenishing it as well as they could. We didn't find the service to be extraordinary-far from it. The front desk were all indifferent types. As typical for being in Norway it's not likely to find staff who are talkative nor smiley yet these were a bit too serious. But the main thing is our room reservation was honored properly.
