Where to Stay in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"Offering a spa, fitness center and great views of the islands, Clarion has clean rooms with decent beds and water pressure, a top-notch Latin American restaurant and really nice staff, making it a good value mid-range hotel." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
The hotel was great, easy location to get around and services as described. We found the “family room” a little small for 3, as it was just a standard double with a cot in the corner. But otherwise very comfortable. The ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT was MIMMI who greeted us at breakfast each morning and was the kindest brightest light. Truly the hostess with the mostess. She took a corporate hotel experience and made it personal and warm. Clarion at Skanstull is VERY lucky to have her as a member of their team.

The people that work here seem happy. I didn’t encounter one rude person- very rare! The breakfast staff was especially friendly. They welcomed us every morning. The front desk was so accommodating. What a nice way to arrive. The rooms were fine, but the fridge was filled with overpriced snacks when there is a grocery store by the metro. The food at the restaurant wasn’t bad and the drinks were good. The gym needs a major upgrade. Otherwise this would be top.

Perfectly located not far away from Stockholm's main station, the historic island of Gamla Stan (old town) or the magnificent Avicii Arena (Globen), the Clarion Hotel is a good compromise between comfort and location. The rooms are clean (but relatively small), the bathroom is functional, and the hotel has a spa and a pretty nice bar. The breakfast selection is fantastic, but the hours are quite limited (only until 9:30 a.m. on weekdays). So I would say great hotel for a short stay in Stockholm, but don't expect luxury there.

I don’t know where to start my review really. The location is really nice - close to the train station to reach everything needed within a few stops. But the rooms are small and uncomfortable. The breakfast is simply not good, and all in all everything is crowded. I understand that during our time the hotel is full and therefore we have to reserve a spot at the breakfast - but this is an important information that could have been given at the check in for example.

I've been here one night and already love it. Literally right outside of Skanstull station. The room, while small, has everything I need. The breakfast is great as is the spa. I highly recommend you request Brenda for a massage as she is really in tune to what your body needs to relax. She is amazing!

I’ll start with the less good. I picked up at least four human hairs off the bathroom floor and they were not head hairs!!!||The bedroom was pretty small for what we paid but the bathroom was a good size. Guess you can’t have it all.||The reception staff on arrival were amazing.||Breakfast, as many others have written, was superb. And we met the much mentioned Mimi. A wonderful lady indeed!

I really enjoy my stay at Clarion. Came here for three nights and this is the final night. Great value, super comfortable room with a view, perfect bathroom with both a bathtub and à shower, quiet, excellent breakfast, super friendly staff. I did not get a chance to try the spa since it is closed Sunday-Wednesday afternoon (which is exactly my stay 😆) but I crossed the bridge tonight and went to sacred sauna which was a terrific option. For brave ones during December it is always possible to take a dip at Tanto by the water. The proximity to the subway is great, I got around with a bicycle and the lanes are safe in Stockholm. I will for sure come back. Thank you Clarion. Heja Bajen! 💚🤍

Very disappointed with this hotel. The moment we arrived, they asked for the full payment immediately at check-in, and only after we had already paid did we discover the room they gave us. When we went back to reception, they simply said “no refunds.” That was our welcome. We booked a “compact double room” and were shocked to see the bed is only 140 cm wide and squeezed wall-to-wall !! meaning one adult is stuck against the wall and has no way to get in or out without climbing over the other person. Their justification? “Swedish standard.” Well, tourists coming from different countries expect a comfortable room ,not being told to accept some “Swedish standard” that just means discomfort. We asked for a double blanket ,they don’t even have any. Even the pillows aren’t normal pillow size, and again the answer was because of their “standard.” The website photos are totally misleading. The room we received is far smaller and looks nothing like what they show online. The room is tiny, uncomfortable, and not what we expected at all. We requested an upgrade, and we even found a larger room available online, but reception insisted there was “no availability” and claimed the listing was a mistake. Instead of helping, they just dismissed our concerns. Yes, the location is good and breakfast is nice ,but none of that matters when the room and customer service are this disappointing, and when they keep hiding behind these ridiculous “Swedish standards.” One night was more than enough!!we had a lousy sleep. Never again!

Yelp
Great hotel on the south side! Very close to metro and great breakfast. Lots of restaurants and shops walking distance too! Also great ritual amenities and the hotel smells really good.

Yelp
Excellent stay! Nikki was at the front desk when I had arrived so late from a delayed flight. She was so kind, helpful, and offered excellent customer service. The airlines lost my luggage & she helped me map out where to buy clothes and necessities. The breakfast was very good with fresh, local options. And when my luggage was located, British Airways returned my luggage to Clarion hotel and the front desk staff was so kind to put my luggage in my room since I was out! Definitely return to this hotel.

Yelp
Had a pleasant stay at the Clarion hotel Stockholm. There are a few Clarion Hotels in Stockholm, make sure you get the right location. This location is in the city and yards (meters) from the Skanstull train station. Pretty easy to get to from Arlanda Airport, total time 45-50 minutes from the airport via the Arlanda Express train connection to train 17/18/19 to Skanstull station. Wonderful service, kudos to Sanna at the front desk, she helped me book an extra night's stay on my airline staff rate. She also was pleasant and spoke great English because I don't speak a lick of Swedish. The room is nice. WiFi is strong. Shower amenities free. Just be careful of the big step from the shower/tub to the floor, it's a high one. Heated bathroom floors. I did have a small issue with the running water noise from the other rooms, the water could be heard when someone else flushed every so often. Loved their morning breakfast buffet even though it never changed. It was a full breakfast though. Nice restaurants in house, always busy and packed for lunch and dinner. I'd stay here again. 4 stops sound of city central station. And lots to do in walking distance from the hotel. Restaurants, bars, shopping....

Yelp
Short story: Our experience was far from ideal. Pros: friendly staff, great breakfast, good location. Cons: terrible management, questionable service, outdated and broken rooms. Long story: I booked a family room for me and my parents. The room was pretty small and had a sliding glass door to the bathroom right next to the bed. The glass was frosted but there was a frame of clear glass which made the bathroom visits particularly awkward. On top of that, the sliding door was broken and had a huge gap making the situation even more uncomfortable. We only received 2 sets of towels although we booked for 3 people. The products in the bathroom were low or fully empty. We checked in at 8pm - plenty of time for them to refill. We all needed to take a shower and get ready for dinner needed to get things sorted at the front desk first (they did not pick up the phone) The front desk was super friendly and provided the missing items but was not able to solve the bathroom door issue. The hotel was fully booked so we were not able switch to another family room. They were going to try to get us a standard room when we got back from dinner. After dinner, we were able to get a new smaller room. This room had a flickering light and all product were low or empty as well. I wonder if anyone ever checks these things? Close to midnight and exhausted after a long day, the upstairs neighbors played loud music and were repeated stomping until 3am. The three of us had a terrible nights sleep. In the morning I asked the front desk to refill the body wash and conditioner but nothing ever showed up. We left the hotel exhausted, dirty and deeply disappointed. Ironically, I signed up for the Nordic Choice membership that day...

Yelp
I did a lot of research before selecting a hotel in Stockholm. I wanted something reasonably priced, convenient, and not dumpy. Clarion Hotel Stockholm came through. It didn't disappoint. The hotel is a large modern corporate sized hotel. It's not a boutique type hotel. But that's not a bad thing. With it's big size comes 24 hr desk service, a bar, a restaurant, and a constant flow of taxi's out front. I did take a few taxi's into town but I also took the subway a few times to save some money. The Skanstull station is nearby. There's a nice little supermarket underground there also. My room was very clean, had zero smell, and it was decorated in a traditional Scandanavian design. The hotel's only negative is that it is a little bit farther away from the center of town than many other hotels. During my stay I would typically leave my room early in the morning and not return until late at night. If the hotel were located closer to town I probably would have taken an afternoon break or a power nap in my room. That's because walking around Stockholm can be a little tiring. But don't get me wrong, the distance shouldn't be a showstopper if you recieve a good price. The subway only takes 15 minutes to get here. It's located in a safe neighborhood by the way.

Yelp
Hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. Great breakfast buffet that is complimentary with your stay; huge variety of cold / hot foods along with pastries, fresh fruit and many beverage options. Lobby was warm and welcoming - comfortable to lounge in. Our room was comfortable (bed was great), but it was TINY. Our bed was in a corner so one person had to climb over the other to get in and out - only floor space was from the bed to the bathroom. Great location near public transportation and great restaurants right around the corner. Restaurant in the lobby was busy nightly (make reservations) the bartender (female a little older) was rude not one, two, but 3 times - going in later in the evening it was an inconvenience to pour 2 glasses of wine and she made it clear I was disrupting her cleaning. We liked the hotel so much, even with the little room, that we cxld our room at another hotel for the last night coming back from Copenhagen.

Yelp
On the plus side: Location, breakfast, nicely furnished and spacious rooms, the cleanliness and the nice view (4th floor). Due to my request before arrival, the staff put both single beds together. But: Regular equipment of my room was missing and certain things clearly could have been handled differently I have to say. So the plug of my bath tub or as it turned out a little later, also the TV remote were missing. The shower gel was empty, whereas next to the sink and the hand soap was conditioner mounted to the wall somehow (latter one not so important of course, but something should usually be taken care of). Unfortunately, usually noone ever answered the hotel reception line calls. What got me a little upset was that obviously at first noone was interested in solving the issues mentioned above after I had finally and after many tries reached someone via phone - even though I most definitely was talking to him in a very friendly way before. When I went downstairs after around 45 Minutes later, the two receptionists were just standing there without having anything to do. Furthermore and due to Covid, as a hotel guest, you had to book the hotel pool for yourself for certain time slots by paying good extra money. This would have made sense due to the current situation, if only anyone would have taken care of the guests not to literally stumble over each other at the breakfast buffet. The way it was handled, it didn't make any sense at all and rather gave the impression of trying to earn extra money. All of those things can happen, but they shouldn't, esp. not at a hotel of that category. I don't want to get overly harsh, but all in all the hotel management and staff gave an unprofessional impression.

Yelp
Im reviewing their brunch which i had a sunny saturday here. The restaurant and hotel is located right above a road which gives you a cool view when cars are poppin in and out underneith the building while eating. The restaurant is big and there are plenty of seatings for large parties. Preferably you try to get a seat by the windows to enjoy the view. Unfortunately there is no terrace or similar so soak the sun during summer. But i guess you can recharge quick and head out right after. They have 3 different tables divided by hot, cold and dessert options. They also have a staffed counter where they serve belgian waffles. It shouldnt be a shortage on the variety, and even though its not a lot of unique offerings, they stay with the most common brunch stuff such as burgers, eggs and bacon etc. The service was fast and they refilled everything fast in order to keep the flow for the guests. Even though its appealing to go all in on the main courses, you better save some space for the dessert table and waffles. The waffles can be topped up with your preferations like chocolate sauce, whipped cream, berries and other outrageous good addons.

Yelp
Great Hotel at a convenient location in Soder (South of city). Bus stop and Subway entrance are right in front of the hotel making it easily accesible. I have always preferred to stay at Clarion due to it proximity to many bars and restaurants, plus they have a fantastic breakfast buffet to start your day. If you are a member of Choice Club, then you also get free Clarion Money, which at the lowest level (Blue) takes care of your evening Beer :-)). The more you stay, the more money you get, and more the freebies...

Yelp
I was in Stockholm traveling with friends (to visit another friend) and her place was too small so she suggested the Clarion or another hotel nearby. I looked at the websites and decided on the Clarion. I am very happy with my choice. The hotel is located close to the subway, so it is convenient to get around. There is a bar and restaurant where you can get beers, burgers or whatever you like. The people working there are super nice and helpful. On my way leaving, I had forgotten to print out my boarding pass and they helped me. The rooms are smallish but comfortable and well-decorated and modern-looking. The bathroom felt new and was impeccably clean. Beds were comfortable. There was good TV with movie channels in English that I did not have to pay extra for. The great thing about the Clarion is that the prices are very reasonable. I give it 5 stars because my experience was only positive (but of course, it is not a five-star hotel like a luxury hotel). Clarion is ideal for business travel, traveling with friends or just a quick weekend in Stockholm.

Yelp
We went for the breakfast a Sunday in November. The staff were friendly and worked hard. The view is nice. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary. No espresso-based coffee. No fresh squeezed juice. No waffles. There were always long lines to the food. It was difficult to find things, and spoons and plates would run out. It would have been a decent value at half the price, but for 200 SEK per person we expected more.

Yelp
We were in Stockholm for two day and we had an 8hrs layover foe our flight to Greece. We were went to see different hotels that I won't mention. By far the Clarion Hotel had the best prices, they were very friendly, accomodating and attentive. They also mentioned we get a free breakfast so I was expecting coffee, fruits and maybe cereal. In the morning when we got up and went to get coffee I was blown away to see their FREE buffet with everything you can thinking of for breakfast, whatever ethnicity you're from you will find something to eat there. My family and I were very very please and happy. We slept like babies because their rooms are so comfortable. I must also mention that we were coming from Los Angeles and all of our electrical adapters were not universal and the hotel provided us with 4 Adaptors so we could charge our electronics. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Lobby was very nice - staff was friendly and helpful with every interaction. The complimentary breakfast buffet had a nice variety, the food was fresh and lots of variety to choose from. Hotel was very clean and convenient to town and transportation. Lost one star for the size of the room our bed was in a corner with walls on 3 sides so one person had to climb over the other.
