Clarion Hotel Tyholmen

Wonderful front desk, kitchen, restaurant, bartenders, and housekeeping. The rooms are great and the views are breathtaking. The breakfast is world class! The location is great because it allows easy access to the ferry, parking is nearby, and so are many amazing restaurants.

Amazing experience! Arendal is a really nice place and the hotel is very well situated near the city center and the lake, you can enjoy a beautiful views of it while you are enjoying the breakfast or some drinks at the bar. Rooms are quite new, big, very well sound proofed and with all the commodities. Nice wifi, minibar, heater... I can only say that individual beds could be better because the thin layer at the top usually moves around and you need to fix that so often, but on the other hand the pillows are 😍 I can say only nice words about the staff. We spend 2 weeks there due to a business trip and we felt like home. Thanks!

Was in a wedding. I am vegan. The food was just a sad story. The starter was 5-6 beetroot-slices with balsamico flat on the plate. The maindish was a dry burger with some potatoes and veggies. The burger tasted like a brick. I didn’t finish it. So I was hopeful for the desert. But I didn’t get a desert before asking for it. I got two scoops of sorbet in a jamglass. It was just a really big dissapoinment.

Very friendly staff and a nice (superior) room with water-view. Very good breakfast. Not sure what the fuss is about parking in the other reviews. You can park and unload in front of the hotel, free of charge 30 minutes. There’s a big parking house literally 2 minutes walk away from the hotel. Not cheap, but no problem. Warmly recommended

No roomservice and clogged bathroom. Used all the towels to clean it up. No new towels next day and the bed was note made. I had a superior room. The staff in reception valued their computers more than human contact, only one of them looked at me, barely

The Clarion Hotel Tyholmen Arendal boasts a prime waterfront location offering picturesque bay views, which is undeniably its best asset. Upon our arrival, the amiable staff warmly welcomed us, setting positive first impressions. However, as we settled into our room, the facade of satisfaction quickly faded. Though I can appreciate vintage charm, it is vital that the rooms remain clean and well-maintained. Our "Deluxe" room unfortunately didn't live up to its title. Telltale signs of age were evident, from the awkward retrofitting of a bathtub over an old shower area, revealing an unsightly and unhygienic collection of dirt and mold, to improperly cleaned walls around the shower area. Furthermore, a glance upwards revealed an unsettling amount of dust and grime within the overhead lamps. While the bed provided a comfortable sleep and the Rituals toiletries were a nice touch, these factors couldn't outweigh the negatives. For a hotel that's rated 4-star, these lapses in hygiene and maintenance were disappointing. In conclusion, while the hotel's location and staff are commendable, the room standards are lacking. We'll be seeking alternative accommodations in the future, hoping for a more consistent experience.

It is the service that triumphs. Combined with good location and excellent service, the stay gave me a very positive start to the work week. The hotel has chosen a maritime feel. Which is appropriate considering that they are located down by the harbor. I had booked parking for the electric car in advance and when I arrived at the hotel the place was taken by someone else. The receptionist was very solution-oriented and helped me find a good car park as good as the one I had originally booked. Maybe better. The breakfast was very good and it was easy to check out when I was going to travel. The hotel is not very modern, but it holds everything you need as a guest. I gave it 4 "stars" due to the service.
