We were in Tromso primary to swim with Orcas. (See our review of Majestic Whale Encounters). We had a couple of nights around the boat trip and spent it at the Clarion. It’s very well positioned in a beautiful town. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are small but well equipped and perfectly clean. The breakfast (included) is excellent. There’s so much to choose from that we has to choose a « style » each morning. Don’t miss the ginger shots. Even the espresso machine makes decent coffee. The bar staff were a lot of fun and even let us run up a tab without a credit card while we waited for our room. GBF 7 It’s our only hotel experience in Tromso but it was more than adequate.

Hotel is in. A nice location however I don’t think the price was worth it. There is no hotel parking available. You have to park at a garage which costs about 45USD a day. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast has a nice selection good food. As well as free coffee and tea available near the front desk all day long. We were able to check in early as well. Overall it’s a nice hotel however for the price I think you can find something for a cheaper cost with the same quality and facilities.

I celebrated my 70th birthday recently with a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ visit to Tromsø. The Clarion Edge is a very striking looking building and is in a superb location. We chose a Superior Double Room. We requested a higher floor and were given one on the 10th floor; the view is magnificent. The room was an adequate size with a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The decor is a tad dated and tired. The thermostat in our room was already set to 21°; this was perfect for us. The TV did not have any English language channels (that we could find) and neither was it a Smart TV on which we could have cast e.g. Netflix. As mentioned in so many other reviews, the breakfast is second to none. What an outstanding selection! The lobby area has plenty of seating and coffee and tea is readily available. Reception can get a bit overwhelmed at times; perhaps consider additional staff to cope with multiple check-ins.

Great hotel in a perfect location in Tromso. The lobby area is very well decorated and the bar is a nice area to relax. The room was nice and clean. Nothing spectacular but perfect for a city break. The breakfast selection was great. Lots of choice, everything kept stocked up, and good quality.

Lovely hotel, great location. I stayed in a couple of hotels during my recent stay in Tromsø, and this is definitely the one I would go back to. The rooms are well kitted out, the breakfast was exceptional, and the views from the room (we had windows to three sides due to the shape of the building) were great. An easy one to recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Clarion The Edge Hotel in Tromsø. The rooms are comfortable and nicely designed, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location is perfect, close to everything in the city, and the breakfast was outstanding with plenty of delicious options. We also loved the Rituals toiletries, a lovely touch of luxury. The only small inconvenience was the lack of a telephone in the room, which made it a bit difficult to contact reception. Overall, a great hotel that I’d happily recommend!

Loved this hotel. Located in a great convenient spot right on the waterfront. Stepped off our cruise boat and only had to walk a minute. |Very modern, nice rooms with great beds.|Temperature great and we could see the northern lights from the room window. |Great breakfast and restaurant downstairs plus endless free tea and coffee in the lobby.

A few issues. I had reserved dinner for the night of our arrival and had a few messages back and forth with the hotel as our flight would come in around 6pm. Our family of three (including a young child) arrived to be told the restaurant was shut for the night because of the staff Christmas party. We had no message of cancellation, so we then had to try and find a table elsewhere - bear in mind you really need to reserve tables as the best places get booked up. V annoying.|I had asked for a north facing room (or north east), and had paid a small amount extra to book this. They gave us a south facing room. I complained about this but as the staff were covering for the Xmas do, they didn’t know how to resolve it. We were too busy the day after to deal with it so it’s quite irritating they took money for a service not received.|There is a great selection at breakfast however the hot food section was always luke warm - fried eggs, cold. It’s a shame as it’s a great buffet.|The Sky Bar, the rooftop bar, one of the main selling points for us to book the hotel, with views over the city and mountains, is shut all week except Thursday - Sunday. We didn’t realise this as they don’t mention this in listings. So we only found out on arrival, and we only stayed Sunday to Thursday. The only one we could have used it was closed for the Xmas do! So so poor.|There was no lunch option available, even though it shows there to be on the website. We were told the restaurant was only open from 4, and that they do not offer any lunches. Again, really annoying.|This is really a glorified corporate hotel and not intending to spend any time there other than sleeping.

Yelp
Excellent hotel with impeccable service. I enjoyed my stay here. Very clean. Only the modest room size kept me from rating this hotel five stars (and is a typical size for European hotels). The breakfast buffet is five-stars! It is spread out over then entire second floor and includes a wide assortment of delicious choices. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very pleased with all aspects of this hotel. From their clean, contemporary rooms to the bars, the restaurants, friendly staff and inclusive breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet deserves special mention as it was quite good and not the typical continental breakfast you see at many of the big hotel chains. This buffet included a large assortment of fresh meats, cheeses, veggies, hot entrées, multiple coffee drinks and juices. Truly top shelf. Don't be fooled by the average rating of this hotel in Yelp. Anytime you have a limited number of reviews all it takes is a couple folks giving a negative review to lower the average rating . The key is look at how many review these folks have done and if it is single-digit, they are the type of people that only write negative reviews where I always ignore these. Overall we had an excellent stay here where the Clarion Edge is centrally located in downtown close to everything. If clean hotels with great amenities and friendly staff are your priorities you should definitely give this business serious consideration.

Yelp
What a nice hotel. It is located right in the heart of the marina area. The hotel itself is modern and hip. It has such a cool vibe. The front desk staff are very helpful and speak English. The rooms are decorated in a fun way with a nice motif. The interior hallways are painted with fun vibrant colors.

Yelp
We went there for drinks on the rooftop bar. Drinks were great. The bartender was great serving a drink and making recommendations. Trendy music in the background. Rooftop bar is only open Thursdays-Sundays. We went on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. The view over the city is beautiful. There is inside and outside seating. Definitely worth the visit. The weather was kind of grim, cloudy, and rainy. However, on a clear night they say you could possibly see the northern light.

Yelp
This hotel was great. Close to the mall and the shopping street and close to where tours meet so great location! Everyone at the front desk was very nice and helpful and I went there a lot to ask a lot of questions and was probably annoying them so Am very grateful they were always happy to help. I never got my room connected to the Choice International group to get my points but we shall see what happens. The breakfast there every morning was complimentary and fantastic! So many choices so you could have something different everyday though I always tore up the fruit every morning because it was so good. Vanilla yogurt, juices, and eggs also very good. There was a protest one night right outside about Israel(Barricaded) and when I asked about it they said it was safe so that made me feel better as where I come from you never know what's gonna happen. Only lasted a couple of hours thank God. Rooms and bathrooms were a little small. It was just me so I didn't mind the room being small. However the bathroom being small was a little troubling. Shower water got outside shower because only half a door. The sink is very narrow and small so when I washed my face I was always bumping my head in the mirror so as to not get water in the floor. There's also nowhere to hang your towel if you want to reuse it and be environmental friendly like they seem they want you to be. Wish there was also ice on the floor and ice bucket for the room as well as a microwave. Though if you need something to be put in the freezer they downstairs by the reception they will do so...The design of the hotel is super cute though. I love how the outside of the hotel room doors look. I never had time to check out their restaurant or bar so have no idea how that is. The night I was going to try they had it blocked off for a conference (same night as protest) but the guys at the door recommended a good place pretty close so I went there. If you are coming to Tromso this is a great location to be....I would stay here again.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel when I visited Tromso in March! I traveled with my family, there were 3 of us, and it felt like there was enough room in our little suite for everyone to be comfortable. There was a queen bed and a full, pullout bed. We had a wonderful view from our windows, and if the conditions were better, we probably could've seen the northern lights from the comfort of our room. I also cannot stress enough how amazing their continental breakfast was. They had so many different options and everything tasted really good! They also have a rooftop bar- one of the few in Tromso. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try it because it's only open on the weekends, but we heard positive reviews from another guest. The facilities here were clean and the hotel staff were very nice and welcoming. The location was also perfect. We were able to walk to many local restaurants, tour meeting points, and local activities within a short walk. If I ever returned, I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking to stay in Tromso, I would recommend booking this hotel a month or two in advance because it is one of the more popular places to stay.

Yelp
Mohammed the hotel manager was extremely rude to me. I booked 6 nights in the winter and left after the first night. I was physically cut off while queuing for food at the breakfast buffet within the scheduled 7-10am breakfast time. The staff physically blocked me at about 9:57 when getting items near the forks and knives. This service was incredibly rude. The room itself was also gross. The faucet and towel rack are both less than 1/2 a meter from the toilet. I politely requested a refund for my stay from the concierge due to the massive inconvenience of having to find alternative lodging that wasn't planned in advanced. Mohammed the manager was called to approve the first night refund. He started to play word games and gaslight me. His response to request for a first night refund was along the lines of, "ya were refunding the next 5 nights" clearly gaslighting me and not even addressing the request. He then accused me of lying due to the forks always being out. The service here is obviously bad from the top down. I have to settle this with a credit card dispute because he cant even have a polite conversation about bad service without demonstrating his own rudeness.

Yelp
The Clarion in Trimso is a very nice and friendly place. All the staff speak English. It is well located in town and opposite the jetty. The rooms are comfortable with a view. Heating is good. There is a safe and some coffee/tea making facilities. Breakfast is sumptious with a dedicated Crepe Station to cook sweet or savoury crepe to taste. There is also a hot food station where you can get egg etc cooked. The cold cuts range from meats to various types of salmon. Of course there is the pastry section. Wifi is complimentary.

Yelp
Not worth your money. The hotel service is very inconsistent. They don't offer parking, nor can they help you with where to actually park (hint: nowhere). Service was often very rude and not friendly, mainly throwing their hands up and saying that they can't do anything (except charge you obviously). WiFi doesn't work in the rooms, mainly just on the rooftop terrace, where the service was actually super nice. When we asked about the wifi from the reception they literally told us that the WiFi doesn't work in all the rooms and were once again just throwing their hands up and blaming the network company (this is not a brand new hotel, they have had plenty of time to fix this issue). By the way, the Scandic around the corner gives you WiFi connection even if you're just walking past the hotel. The rooms don't have phones, but they encourage you to use your own phone to call them or txt them, this might work for people from Norway, but I'm not paying $$ for a call to the reception. Breakfast was ok, service there presumably nice, we didn't talk to anybody. I don't see us ever returning to this hotel.

Yelp
What a ridiculous hotel. They hold a party for 500 kids - who pull the fire alarm at 11 at night causing all the guests to vacate. But keep the party going downstairs Nice fire safety rules Clarion! And the front desk said it wasn't one of the 500 drunk kids. But the smoke machine for the disco for the 500 drunk kids. So the party keeps rolling and the guests who pay to stay at a clarion are forced to work around a party Nice fire safety rules Clarion. What a ridiculous hotel
