Google
Really great first impression. There was a man cleaning and managing the store and the staffs were super nice. The outdoor seatings are the best here in the summer. We ordered shrimp basket and super fresh and nice!

Google
Decent, cheap spot for a sandwich. Got their Philly. It was fresh. Could have had a bit more cheese, or the meat could have been salted a bit. Still decent. Super fast service.

Look, I have loved this place for years, and I know the economy is bad, but they charged me over $9 for 4 mozzarella sticks. You have got to be kidding me. I was so insulted when I opened the bag, thinking like, where are the rest of them? I don’t think I can order from this place anymore with portions like this and the prices are just offensive. The food is amazing, it’s my favorite maxwell, and the staff have always been wonderful. But nearly $10 for 4 basic little mozzarella sticks? I’ll take my business elsewhere.

If you're seeking authentic Chicago-style cuisine, a lively atmosphere, late-night hours, and a charming bar with exceptional staff and bartenders, this spot is a must-visit. Perfectly located for a pre or post-Cubs game outing, it's also a year-round destination to enjoy whether it's baseball season or not. I tried the Philly and fries, and the portion was so generous one order of fries was plenty for two people. My super huge small chopped steak was authentically prepared with all the traditional trimmings, and I added hot peppers and hot sauce for an extra kick. Everything tastes better with a bit of spice! The place is clean and welcoming, and I look forward to returning soon.

Google
Super friendly staff, we ordered & sat by the bar to grab a drink. Good conversation & great food!!

Google
I visited about 15 bars on my last trip to Chicago. Doing a pretty deep and detailed bar crawl. This was in my top 3 and the hot dogs are slamming. The people there are exceptionally nice and I had a great time here before a cubs game. highly recommended.

Google
Best Philly cheesesteak in Chicago! Atmosphere is great, bartender was nice and friendly! Come check it out for yourself!

Google
My first time here. I ordered 2 Clark Street dogs, a fry and 2 drinks. The order came out to $26 but I wish the guy that took my order told me that they had a special this month. I would have saved over $10. Overall, the food was very good. My son gave it a thumbs up!! June is national hot dog month. Ask for the special to save money.

Yelp
Welp, the Clark Street Dog has tapped into the world of lagers. It tastes like when you come home from school and smell something really good in the kitchen yep. Thumb extended and Apple Watch tan line for comparison.

Yelp
I have eaten here for over 25 years up until today. I ordered 2 dogs and they were not Vienna dogs. The skin was so tough I had trouble eating them. I actually threw the second one out. They were on plain buns not poppy seed and had no celery salt. The fries weren't much better. The grease used to deep fry was dirty as the fries had a weird taste and smell. Come on guys, get it together. Please!

Yelp
The sliced beef doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. It is a little thick. And the service, it's not very friendly.

Yelp
Classic Chicago-style food (plus one interloper from Philadelphia, the cheesesteak sandwich.) Very friendly staff and good service. I had a hot Italian sausage with sweet peppers and mustard and my taste buds were singing all the way home. The only negative is the slightly cramped seating area. Oh, as a side note: why is it Chicago hot dog places have Philly cheesesteaks, but no Philadelphia places have Chicago-style Italian beef? This double standard must cease! Seriously, this is a very solid, reliable and tasty place for delicious Chicago street food.

Yelp
Here is yet another place to get a Chicago style hot dog. It's located on Clark Street if you couldn't tell from the name, obviously. The Clark Street Dog is a pretty crummy looking place, but that's part of the charm it seems. Also it has a bar section if wanting sone drinks with the food. The prices are actually kind of a rip off on beers and such but better for the actual hot dogs to be honest. Came in the last time, and we got some drinks and the Veggie Hot Dogs. It has the bar section, but we sat in the diner section. The tables were pretty sticky and needed a wiping. It has cans of beer in the cooler near the entrance. These are quite a ripoff, and this was for the cheap shit too. It's $5 for a fucking can of Old Style. Might as well get a craft on draft, so fuck that. Also we got the Veggie Hot Dogs. It's about $4 each. The best part of a hot dog is the toppings. Even so, the fake sausage was good enough. There's also other menu items like gyros for about $5 or so if instead looking for Greek stuff. For sure the hot dogs are the main things to get here. It also has a bar, so you can get drunk while eating the things. There's hot dogs that are the mystery meat, and there's also one okay for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service. Clark street dog is high quality and tastey. The inside looks like a hot dog shop should!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service! Great place for a quick bite and has outdoor seating. Food is decent - got a cheeseburger and it was pretty decent.
google avatar

Austin S.

Yelp
Cool bar vibes! Their signature hot dog had a LOT on it tho so maybe consider a different option.
google avatar

Chase H.

Yelp
Bartender makes the worst drinks, worst service. 3 groups of people got yelled at by the bartender because "they talked too loud" Get your hot dog and enjoy, sorry if you get yelled at for enjoying the conversation with your friends. The bar tender will make sure to tell you to shut up because you're too loud. In response to the owner - The FaceTime call wasn't that loud at all, the two people at the bar even apologized to us when they were walking out of the bar at the same time as us, saying we weren't bothering them and not sure why the bartender snapped at us. So unless you go to a bar to sit in silence I wouldn't bother going to the bar. Great dogs. Making the comment of saying "clearly over served" goes to show how out of touch you and the bartender are. We were having a great night with friends, no one was over served or out of control.

Yelp
My husband complained about food poisoning with the cashier. Suddenly a short guy wiping the fountain soda called him a b*tch and a f*ggot. First mumbling then straight to his face. We all have bad days, but this was just out of line. Sadly we didn't get his name. Genuinely hope there's some sort of retaliation. Never coming back

Yelp
Flew into Chicago and was looking for a local place to eat after 11 on a Thursday night. The bright lights and corner location of Clark's drew us in. I ordered the Chicago Burger with its hot and juicy roast beef and ground beef patty on a bun and melted cheese. It hit the spot and exceeded my expectations!

Chela C.

Yelp
Good cheeseburger! Great hot product! Service fast! Delicious fries. It's always a great spot!

Yelp
Came in to The Clark Street Dog for a quick bite for lunch and was not disappointed! The employees were so friendly and accommodating. I had the cheese fries and had giardiniera added in because my friend recommended it and it was good! The gyro was STUFFED! definitely got my money's worth. They have plenty of seating areas on either side of the building so u won't have trouble coming in for a lunch/dinner situation. I can't wait to try the other options in the menu!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Ordered 2 cheeseburgers and a fry for my dinner. This was so delicious the patty was so thick and juicy! Toppings included my favs tomato, lettuce, chopped onions, mustard, and pickles for delivery French fries were so crispy and not soggy at all. Packing was great too, sealed with a staple.

Marie M.

Yelp
Great fast food. Healthier than McDonalds! Some adult options, good soups and chili, fries actually taste good, pretty consistent! We've never been inside before, just had take out a handful of times.
google avatar

Sergio G.

Yelp
Disappointed when I ordered the chicken sandwich one small piece of chicken breast too expensive. Also, the fries were not fresh I couldn't eat them they were too crunchy. I have been to other hotdog places and the chicken sandwiches always have more than one small piece .

Ben A.

Yelp
Great food, fast service, indoor and outdoor seating. What's not to love? Pretty cheap too
google avatar

Margie T.

Yelp
My grilled chicken sandwich & mozzarella sticks were pretty good. Hubby enjoyed his polish & his fries. Last minute decision worked on our favor!!! Pretty clean & sanitary!!
google avatar

Mytam V.

Yelp
Standard chicago fare, quick and easy. Saw a weird policy they have with prices going up 5% after midnight? Just an FYI. The italian beef and clark street dog were standard: didn't blow me out of the water. Average prices at $4.95 a hot dog and around $9 for the italian beef. Tater tots were my favorite part of the meal honestly: hot, fresh and crispy. Casual spot to just grab a quick lunch or late night dinner.

Yelp
Clark Street Dog meets ya where you are at. It's nothing fancy, but I love it when I have a craving. - I was craving a corn dog, and they delivered. Pretty overpriced, but the convenience factor is pretty valid and they're open for late night. - Cheese fries were meh. The cheese was low quality and not exciting. - Service was fast and friendly! - The patio is surprisingly decent. It's in the middle of a busy three-way intersection, but they spruced it up with bags, greenery, and umbrellas.

Yelp
Very good service, delicious hot dog and fast. They also stay open late which is great!

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Their chx wings are mostly bone.. so little meat on them it was so disappointing. Buffalo sauce and ranch were both good but do yourself a favor and only buy the sauces from this place and cook the chicken yourself at home.

Yelp
I was excited to try my 1st official "Chicago dog" but I wasn't impressed at all. I think the weiner was overcooked as every time I took a bite it seemed rather chewy. Restaurant and bar are separated so it's a little odd. I was hoping it would be a sit down restaurant rather than an order at the counter type of deal.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
My first time having an Italian beef sandwich and it was delicious! Sandwich was a good size and can easily be shared.
google avatar

Ted C.

Yelp
I really wanted a Chicago style hot dog before I left and after having had a hot dog that came with cucumber, CUCUMBER. I figured CSD would be a little more authentic...it was ok-they didn't put it on a poppy seed bun, which is ok but there was also no celery salt which is a small detail that makes a huge difference. If that was just my only visit this time it would be a lower rating but I ended up coming here twice during a 3 day visit (don't judge.) My 2nd visit was after having had a few late night drinks with a friend and we were in need of food because we were hungry. This time I wanted to get an Italian beef sandwich and this time they hit the mark a little better. The beef was incredibly juicy with the giardiniera being spicy enough. I soaked up the fries in the gravy and had an excellent late night meal.

Yelp
The nastiest most expensive chilli cheese dog I've ever had i my life. Good customer service tho. 8$ and some change. All sides sold separately.

Yelp
Hello Foodzies, it's been awhile but I'm back. Today we went to The Clark st Dog 3040 n Clark st (at the point of Clark st and Halsted Ave) parking is difficult but manageable. Most of the parking has been removed to put outdoor seating. The restaurant is separated in 3 sections; as you walk in is the counter for ordering, to the right is the dining area and to the left is a small bar area with TVs playing sports talk shows. The menu is mounted on the wall and it's an order wait and pick up. We had chili cheese fries, not bad needed more chili. I had the Philly cheese steak which was nicely flavored (a little salty) it could have used a little more cheese and the bread fell apart but it was a good sandwich. Next was their chicken wrap, the chicken was seasoned and grilled well, the wrap was made from a spinach wrap which was a nice change that was filled with mayo, lettuce and tomato. Kind of bland needed cheese and onions. Lastly we tried their chicago style hotdog. Not thrilled with the hotdog it was a hard casing and the bun wasn't steamed which made it hard. I give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Try it out or if you have eaten there tell me about your experience. Ciao Ciao for now.

Ace B.

Yelp
Sad that Thursday night football is coming to an end, but glad I got to watch the games at the bar. If you like to watch sports, this bar is a great option, although sometimes they cannot get the Cubs game on tv. Shoutout to Kyra for always making the games a good time! We always end up staying longer than we should, definitely really fun and am going to come back!
google avatar

Jacob M.

Yelp
Authentic style Chicago hot dogs that are deliciously made. The rest of the food is good too but I think the hot dog might be the best.
google avatar

Beatriz B.

Yelp
Food was not the best. I had a hot dog and fries. Fries were ok. Service was ok and ambience could be better.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Dogs are average, but there's a cool atmosphere (or multiple atmospheres) that you might enjoy. (Edit: bumped the rating up to 4 stars. I was on the fence between 3 and 4 and I usually round up, since I'm often a crabby pants, so 4 it is.) Veggie hot dogs are decent, made Chicago style, which means that you're guaranteed to make a mess trying to eat them. The bun is horrible, white and mushy, but the rest of the dog and toppings are good. Fries are good, a bit above average: thin and crisp. Onion rings are also fine. You have three options of dining in, if you're over 21: 1) the bar, which is tiny and cool, with neon and pressed tin ceilings, 2) the dining room, which feels like fast food or an ice cream shop, 3) the patio, which feels like you're outside, because you are outside. It's a breezy and delightful asphalt parking lot. No really, it is. I thought it was decent. I'd go back if some mob of Cubs fans held me hostage and forced me to go there. I might even go back of my own accord.

Yelp
Stopped by here after a long day of hanging with friends. Living within walking distance of Clark Street Dog for over 5 years however didn't ever occur to me to stop in. Great location, nice patio space and pretty Ok food. The Italian beef did it's job, was warm, soft bread, but just wasn't a typical Italian beef. Had my expectations been different, I couldn't have offered more stars. Fries were hot and everyone was pretty happy with their meals. Not confident I'll be back but glad we stopped in to support.

Mike O.

Yelp
I paid cash but the the cashier still charged me a surcharge . They are suppose to only charge a surcharge when you use a credit card. My total was $19.13 with cash and the surcharge was $0.82. The cashier refused to give me $0.82 . I am letting the better business bureau know. Make sure you get a receipt.

Yelp
Food is always delish and on point!! The original central gyro is so good with the fixings Nd huge, it can be 2 meals if you're not starving haha

Yelp
Clark street dog always gets it right. From start to finish, the experience is incredible. Keep up the great work y'all! I'll be back.

Joseph M B.

Yelp
Hot dog it terrible, inedible and the skin so tough it stays on. Mediocre cheese fries no crisp. Cheese from a terrible old can. Lastly the owner charges 5% for delivery fees to him. I'm talking the delivery to him as I picked this up. It's not Covid that's your cost. Cashier had a attitude when I asked about it. Terrible good just got down to Al's as tight down the street with quality food.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Good Proto typical Chicago dog except there are no poppyseeds on the bun. Excellent onion rings, with a nice brown crust and no grease. Lightning fast service. A nice outside eating area.

Ed K.

Yelp
Caveat: this is based on one visit, a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a hotdog and fries, and the price was $10.45. That didn't make sense to me, and I should've left at that point but I didn't so that's on me. When I got to the cashier, I noticed a sign claiming there is a 5% surcharge on all items to cover extra costs the restaurant is paying for their food supplies. So this cost isn't reflected on the menu prices, and you're not made aware of it unless/until you see the small sign. I think this is fundamentally dishonest and unnecessary. I see it as price gouging. As for the food, I was given the wrong order and I'd driven away by the time I realized it. The hotdog I ended up with was ok, nothing special. Again, this was one visit, but I won't be going back.
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
My boy and I saw blue man group and all he wanted while we were in Chicago was an authentic Chicago dog...so we got Chicago dogs and split a double burger and some fries... just a good grease pit here! Zero complaints!
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
Great late night spot to grab a Chicago style hot dog! Also got the onion rings, which were a battered style rather than breads, which is a plus +.
google avatar

Kelsea C.

Yelp
A solid fast foody kind of place with a nice outdoor seating patio and separate bar area. My party ordered the gyro, veggie hot dog, fries, and onion rings with two draft beers. Everything was great, especially the onion rings. My gyro was very good, I just wish I had gotten a little more taziki sauce on it. My partner enjoyed the veggie dog, but mentioned a little char on the dog would have been nice too. Overall recommend this place for a quick bite of comfort food!

Johnny R.

Yelp
Best bar and service in the area! I'm going to be returning because of Kyra, she gave me a water when I needed it, kind caring and respectable service. 10/10 returning because of her.
google avatar

Jaclyn M.

Yelp
Hot dog was good but not my favorite, it was missing the poppy seeds on the bun and the signature celery salt; bun was kind of soggy. Veggies were fresh and tasty and delivery was fast too so that was good for a late night dinner!
google avatar

Barb S.

Yelp
Visiting Chicago for work and my brother (been in Chicago 15 years) brought me here. All I have is videos of me tearing this bad boy apart lol. I got the Chicago style with all the fixings. Out of the three Chicago style hot dogs I had, this one was top tew, and it's not tew. Lol definitely a must have when I visit Chicago from now on.
google avatar

Victoria D.

Yelp
great tasting hotdog with pickles tomato's onions and mustard. very well priced as well at $5 a wiener.
google avatar

Ian H.

Yelp
Clark Street Dog was the first place I dined my first visit ever to Chicago years ago. It's clearly an institution with its primo spot on a high-traffic corner. Plus they also have a bar on the side opposite the main restaurant. It wasn't until COVID hit that I first stopped at their bar and I am sad I didn't stop in sooner! It was their GIANT open air setup with lots of socially distanced tables that drew us in. The bartenders are always super friendly and the beer is always nice and cold. Right now they have $5 Goose Island taps and pitchers for $18. What's not to love about that?
google avatar

Pam C.

Yelp
Clark street dog is probably way better in the wee hours of the morning when you want something greasy and fast to eat. This takes up an entire corner with loud signage and a parking lot. There's also a bar/restaurant next to the dog shop. They have the typical menu of hot dogs, polish sausages, burgers, fries and chilli etc. The pricing is a hair steep for what I'd pay for. Staff all the times I've been have been super nice. They are cash only for below ~$7 but sometimes make exceptions. Food comes out lightening fast and they really move the line through. My favorite in general is the polish, but the one at Clark Street doesn't really hit the spot for me. They advertise the polish as their extra large, but it tastes mushy with no snap and is distractingly greasy. Tomatoes are occasionally stale.
google avatar

Fox E.

Yelp
I thought it might hop into a phone booth and change into a realy super hot dog place, but that would have been Clark Kent Street Dog. And it's just not. This dog was really really bad. I have to give three stars despite the nice friendly service and decent prices. It just didn't have anything going on. It felt dry and the bun was as stale as some other of you Yelpers said it would be. At least they had cool arcade games.
google avatar

Lora B.

Yelp
I've been walking past for months and finally stopped in. Gotta a classic Clark Street Dog and some onion rings to split. Really affordable and delicious hot dog! They have a good amount of spaced outside seating too. Their bar was also open, if you're looking for a cheap drink!
