"I found an overfilled roll at Claws in Rockland, which diners can gorge on between superlative meals at Primo and In Good Company." - Hannah Selinger

The Best Lobster Roll in Maine, According to a Local

Great atmosphere paired with amazing food and nice staff! We vacationed in Maine for a week from Texas and had to stop here - it's worth it! We went for lobster rolls one day for lunch and went back for oysters that night for dinner. Unfortunately they had just run out of the blueberry crisp that we had our eyes on (make sure you get in line early!!). 10/10, would definitely go back.

You’re basically there for LOBSTER. VERY polite staff. If you’re a big eater get the full pound roll. Split it if you want to share. Ask for butter, not mayo. IPA beer is tasty. You have many other options on seafood, many comfy seats, and they bring food to your table. Parking is crowded but free. Great rock n roll music in background. On a Thursday at 1:30p it still took half an hour and it was busy….but worth every minute of wait. Many spots in Maine claim awards re their lobster…CLAWS is worth your time, the entire experience is amazing.

You cannot beat the scallops here. Some of the best. Tender and fry batter isn't too heavy. Tarter sauce is some of the best I've ever had! Fries have seasoning on them and they are good too. Mac and cheese was full of lobster, lots to share too. Lobster roll was good! Soft tender meat and great roll. Blueberry cornbread was good too. My parents have already been back two more times! Menu has lots to choose from and they have a nice outside area to sit and see the water.

A short walk from down town. Well worth the walk, small restaurant with great views of the harbor. Lobster roll was excellent and full of meat. PS get the homemade blueberry cornbread.! Outstanding

So. Freakin. Good. It was packed when we arrived, ordered two lobster rolls, two beers, and an order of steamed clams. While it did take a while to come out, everything was impeccable and so tasty. The views from our spot at the rail were wicked and all of the staff were hard at work making sure everyone was taken care of. Would return next time I’m in the area, only have good things to say! Thanks :) 🦞

Google
Im in Maine on an underwater photo shoot. I had an intense craving for fried whole belly clams. It is surprising how few "lobster shacks" have whole belly clams on their menu. I took a lot of searching, but, we found CLAWS. Right on the water so the atmosphere was great. You order and pay as you walk in. You get a placard shaped like a lobster claw with a number on it. We ordered two whole belly baskets and two local beers - which we picked up as we walked into the dinning area. You seat yourself and place your placard in plain sight. Before you know it a server with a tray full of food calls your number. If you need more beer you start the process over. I rated the service a 4 because the servers really didn't do much. Everyone was pleasant and things moved efficiently. The food picture is a bit red as we were sitting under a red awning.

Google
Very nice staff went out of their way for us. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The only problem was the numerous Flys all over the place. We had the haddock nuggets and clam strips with French fries. Haddock and clams were good but the fries were probably some of the best I've had.

Robin K.

Google
Atmosphere was nice but couldn't really a see the water over the rails. But the atmosphere wasn't bad. We were a little bummed about that. However the service and the food was great. Priced okay considering. Plenty of food... Very tasty. Lots of gluten free items were marked. Menu on the wall... Order and pay at the counter. Drinks are picked up at the bar. You have a number... They bring the food out to you. All good. Then you can leave when you are ready as you have already paid for it. Folks nice there. Decor is fun. We'll go back!

Yelp
Phenomenal fresh comfort seafood right by the water, with great views. The smell of the ocean water really accompanies well your freaking awesome seafood. The lobster roll here is magnificent. Honestly, I'd go as far as to say it's probably my favorite lobster roll of all time. The bread is soft and buttery and there is sooo much lobster packed in for that perfect bite. Mayo all the way, but you do you! The fried fish sandwich is absolutely delicious, too, with a really thin crunchy batter. The chowder here isn't overly thick and creamy, it's just right. I have no complaints about the food. The line can look super long but it moves fast! That and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. When you come when it's warm out, the flies can get a little out of control so be prepared to fight them off! If you're in town or driving through, you gotta check out Claws.

Yelp
If you're ever in Rockpory Maine, you must eat at Claws. Sure, some may say is a tourist trap restaurant, but it's not. They are popular for a reason. The amount of lobster that came with the lobster roll was enough to make three sandwiches!! French Fried Asparagus is a MUST! I've never had it before and ordered it out of curiosity since I like asparagus. It was one of the most delicious food I've had in a long time! The breading is flavorful and fried to perfection! The website says it's closed until May 21,2025. It's a seasonal restaurant that opens from May 22 to mid October. Do not miss it if you're visiting Rockport during the opening season!

Yelp
Take me back to Claws! Honestly had lobster almost every day when I was visiting Maine, but Claws was bar far the best tasting lobster & best atmosphere I found. Exactly how a lobster shack should be- you can have your lobster on salad, in bisque, on a roll, as a blt, etc etc. I chose a lobster salad and it was to die for (see my pics!) Lobster was so fresh, tender and moist. Huge chunks of lobster, and awesome colorful fresh salad too. Their signature blueberry croutons were such a surprise! Portion IMO was huge for the taste. Staff was friendly & quick, plus the waterfront view was lovely too. I could feel myself smiling and doing the happy food dance as I had lunch at Claws. 1000% recommend!

Yelp
Friends told us we needed to stop here when in the area. We decided to go early as we found lost places are packed around 6:30. So glad we did because the line was to the street when we left at 6 pm. The menu board shows all the options, which are numerous. There is also a board that shows the drink menu. I settled on the lobster macaroni and cheese and a beer. After paying, they give you a wooden lobster claw with a number, you pick up your drink at the bar and go find a table. The server brings the food out and calls your number and you wave them down. My dish was huge and had a nice amount of lobster. The sauce on the penne pasta was good and I will be scaring away the vampires tonight. Not sure I would call this Mac and cheese, more like penne pasta with lobster sauce. Either way, it was very good, but not what I expected. The blueberry cornbread was good as well. The patio view is very nice and everyone that works here was friendly.

Yelp
Atmosphere - Great. About a mile from downtown Rockland, this is the quintessential roadside restaurant. Orders and payment are taken at a window and a number assigned. Drinks are picked up at a small bar situated on the way to a covered deck that overlooks the inlet. Service - Very Good. The staff is friendly and the food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Food - Excellent. I ordered the Lazy Lobster (the meat is removed from a 1 1/2 lb lobster and placed in a tray of hot butter) and a cup of clam chowder. The meal came with corn on the cob and a blueberry corn muffin. The lobster was very tender and delicious. The corn was fresh and the muffin was excellent. The soup was a disappointment for me. It was a variation of the traditional version. It was very salty and much of the clam was chewy. Overall Value - Excellent. The portions are large, the food great and the price is very reasonable.

Yelp
Wait was long for our to go order of six lobster rolls. Over a half hour when they said 15 minutes. Nevertheless butter lobster rolls and light mayo rolls were good. They were doing a big biz. Good for Claws!

Monica L.

Yelp
I was excited to try Claws, but it didn't live up to expectations. I had the hot & crabby artichoke dip. It was a $17 bowl of warm cream cheese. The menu says it is loaded with crab meat and artichoke hearts. I could pick out a few bits of artichoke, but there was no discernible crab. Maybe it got all mixed in, but there wasn't enough that I could taste it. The onion straws, however, were outstanding. This is nit, but my husband found it annoying that there were no cocktail napkins at the bar. He was expected to chase down a waitress in the dining room to get a napkin. Really? We wouldn't go back.

Susan H.

Yelp
Ummm if you love lobster or seafood in general this is a place to visit will in rock port, Maine. Super cute restaurant in highway one heading into town with friendly staff and seating with views of the bay. We always stop in when visiting the area, I personally think it's the best around.

Teresa J.

Yelp
Yum yum yum is all I can say! I want to say we arrived between 5:30-6, waited in line for about 20 minutes to place our order and boy am I'm glad we got there when we did. When we left about 45 minutes later the line was flowing into the parking lot and I bet it was a minimum wait of 1 hr to place your order. We split the lobster roll with butter and onion strings, it was delicious! Also had the blueberry crumble with vanilla ice cream - amazing. A no frills place, you order and grab a seat in the patio and wait for your food. Superb service as well.

MICHELE M.

Yelp
So amazeballs! Sat around the campfire and enjoyed three giant lobster rolls our first night in Maine. Amazing portions and pie is the bomb.

John E.

Yelp
You can find Claws at 743 Main St, Rockland, ME 04841 right on the main drag. This restaurant was recommended to us and was very convenient, being about a mile from our hotel. Parking is to either side - there seems to be a lot, but during lunch and dinner the restaurant becomes pretty packed - if you see a very long line you may want to find something to do and wait it out a bit. Claws is an iconic seafood shack, specializing in Maine's prize, the lobster. The exterior is very shack-like as you would expect with a bunch of kitschy eye candy adorning the building and surrounding area - you can tell the restaurant has been here a while and the smell of fried seafood is divine. The menu is pretty extensive (it's available online or on the board as you walk up to the ordering window) with many options for lobster, local cod and oysters. Once you order (and make sure you get a couple of local craft beers), head towards the back for a magnificent view of the water. The place is very busy so you may finish that first beer before the food arrives, if you order two it saves time. We tried the following: * Pemaquid Bold Coast Brown Ale - 3.2/5 Fairly easy drinking brown ale, sweet nutty malt notes finishing dry with mild bitterness for balance. * Mammy's Clam Chowder - Not your typical creamy clam chowder, tons of herbal notes and bay leaf - I thought it exceptional * Lobster Roll - 1/4 lb fresh lobster meat w/mayo, served on a buttered New England style roll - these came with a bag of chips (but we substituted cole slaw) and a pickle spear. Really can't go wrong with the roll - these were excellent with succulent fresh lobster bedded in creamy mayo - my wife thought it was too much lobster meat at 1/4 lb but I was very happy. Service was very good with a server on hand pretty much at all times for extra napkins, water, etc. I'd say that if you're visiting Maine on vacay this is an excellent choice. Just don't expect much as this is a "shack" and not fine dining. You simply can't beat the view and food.

Deb S.

Yelp
Oh jeez. This place. I have now told everyone I know how maddingly delicious the lobster roll was here. The walk through downtown Rockland was lovely and the lobster roll waiting for me at the end of my walk was everything I had hoped for and MORE. Luscious, fresh lobster with a wonderful buttery drizzle on a toasty roll. I could eat the roll by itself, it was that yummy. If you are in Maine, if you are in Rockland specifically - get yourself out to Claws and try them. The blueberry beer was pretty damn good too. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

Claudine R.

Yelp
Finally found a chance to come back the nth time! How time flies. Was so surprised that we didn't have to pick up the food at the window this time.. and they bring it to your table. Just had the clam chowder and fried scallops. The chowder was just was I remembered, amazing. And scallops were delicate and delicious. They have a full bar now and the red lobster cocktail was good, a little too sweet but delicious. Service was great as always!

Nicole L.

Yelp
My fave scallops in town Also have tried their sandwiches, lobster, blueberry crumble. Yum

Yelp
In the pouring rain, we decided to come to Claws for our last dinner in Maine 2023 vacation. We made a good choice. Whether ordering take out or in house, you have to wait outside in line. In the rain it sucks quite a bit but the restaurant does offer umbrellas for the customers. The take out line is somewhat covered, but umbrellas would be helpful for that line, too. We were not in line too long, maybe 20 minutes, before it was our turn to order. The extensive menu is posted so you should have time to review before ordering and they also have paper menus to look at if the line is long. We ordered a blueberry lemonade, water, draft 20oz Banded Claw lager, lobster Mac and cheese, fried haddock sandwich, crab cake burger, full belly fried clam platter, lobster bisque, and some ahi tuna nachos. Just about everything was very good. After ordering and paying at the window, you can go to the table section where it is first come first served. We waited only for a few minutes before something became available. We sat and waited for the friendly young staff to bring the food and call our order number. Because of the rain, half of the tables were not available. The ones that were open were patio style with plastic rolls out to block the rain and wind. After the storm passed through, the rainbow was a nice touch. Overall, we were astounded by the excellent food fair steak fries, the fried haddock sandwich was to die for, and my ahi nachos had plenty of sushi-grade raw ahi and crispy wontons "nachos" with avocado and aioli with sesame seeds were outstanding. I subbed my fries for onion strips which now I wish I kept the fries. The full belly clams were plentiful and well done. My kid really like his "burger" with a lot of crab. What didn't turn out well was the lobster Mac and cheese; plenty of lobster, too much pasta in an overwhelming heavy sauce. Ate the lobster, left most of the pasta. The award winning "best lobster bisque" was a fifth place loser to us. Neither cup was finished even halfway. We weren't sure if it was seasoned too much or made with too much cream or what the reason was, but no one liked it. There's a small gift shop with T-shirts and other stuff. The young staff servers were doing their best to keep up with the orders and all were quite friendly. I had to leave cash at the kiosk for the T-shirt I bought as the staffers were too busy with food but I did let them know I left the money. They also clear the tables after you are finished. About $170 not including tip. Another winner in Maine.

Yelp
I am, at my heart, a commoner. I do not need linen tablecloths and silver platters on which my French food is delivered. I am happy with paper plates and the only French food I really love is French fries (please don't argue that French fries are actually Belgian). Claws in Rockland delivers some of the best seafood in some of the largest portions I have ever had. And all of it is prepared fantastically! Ok Ok do I want to order at a window and have my food delivered to my table - not really. But that does not detract from the great experience I had here. I had the broiled haddock sandwich. They warned me it was messy. In fact, the menu said it was a "bit messy." They lied. It was VERY MESSY! Messy as in I had to finish it off using a fork and knife messy because so much of the sandwich had fallen off of the brioche roll messy! But so fresh and so good! Plus I was relaxed, sitting with 2 of the best people in the world and looking out on a small harbor with boats that had delivered that haddock earlier that day. This is one of those moments in time that is hard to recreate. It all contributed to a great meal. I highly recommend Claws in Rockland Maine!

Larry S.

Yelp
A quintessential Maine clam shack. The food quality is consistently outstanding. I recently enjoyed a delicious plate of fried clams with onion rings. Although there was a long line our order was taken promptly and food delivered without a prolonged wait. The staff is friendly and helpful. I try to make a stop at Claws whenever I'm in the Rockland area.

Chris N.

Yelp
Stand in line a while (it's worth it!)and peruse the menu; shift over to the drink counter and grab your beverages after ordering your food. If you want my advice, grab the Lazy Lobster Dinner and leave the work to the kitchen staff. If you go for the whole bug, hold it to the side as you snap off the tail and claws and allow the water and juices to escape - much more tidy that way. You'll get seriously wonderful seafood and a lovely lobster shack ambiance, right by the water. It's outstanding.

Nhung N.

Yelp
Claws is a the seafood shack located on 743 Maine Street in Rockland, Maine. This is an absolute destination spot for all Maine vacationers. Rockland is a popular tourist destination. I happened to chance upon this restaurant for early lunch while staying nearby at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine, a mere 5 minutes drive away from the restaurant. There is no way that I will eat the resort's now knowing that this gem exists but a short distance drive away. There is a parking lot for patrons. In addition to the local Maine crowd, I noticed license plates for travelers from New Mexico, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and more. The pilgrimage for all of these patrons up mid coast Maine says a lot about this little shack. The menu is extensive! Nothing like your typical lobster shack. There is also a selection of alcohol beverages ranging from beer to margaritas and mojitos. For my family of four, two adults and two children, we ordered a dozen oysters and the ahi tuna nachos. Oysters were served on an ice chip platter with horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a vinaigrette. The ahi tuna sat on crispy chips and they went well with the strong margarita. We also ordered the calamari basket, a buttered lobster roll, and the Rockland Shore Dinner. I didn't even realized that our Rockland shore dinner was missing mussels and a blue biscuit until I looked back at the picture as there was plenty of food, more than we could eat. The service was five star! We were checked in by the waitstaff even before we received our food and maybe another five times throughout the course of our meal. Don't be fooled by the little shack in the front, there is plenty of seating in the back, some with back cushions and an area with heaters too for cold rainy Maine days. I just love the lively family friendly atmospheres. I can see why the lines get so long and why it's sought after from travelers from afar. I highly recommend this location to anyone visiting Maine, even on cold rainy New England weather days such as today.

Theo S.

Yelp
Amazing lobster rolls . Fried clams yum Friendly service, great view. My favorite lobster restaurant in Maine .

Danielle R.

Yelp
Good food good service funny ambiance pretty much what you would expect. The blueberry cornbread was the highlight for me....

Shanna J.

Yelp
We decided to take Hwy 1 up the coast on our way up to stay south of Bar Harbor. I researched on this area prior to departing and this place looked good. It was not just good, it was a fantastic choice. There was plenty of seating with incredible views of the water. I had the boiled lobster and my husband had the broiled seafood plate. Both exceeded expectations. You order at a window and take a number for your food to be delivered to your table. Our server was quick, efficient, and friendly. We visited four similar establishments on this trip and none measured up to this one.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Claws was so good, we had to eat there twice! Service was quick and excellent. They had a good variety of food, even for those that didn't like seafood. Their ribs and bbq sauce (not pictured) were pretty tasty as well! We will definitely be back to visit on our next trip to Maine.

Gary P.

Yelp
Fantastic. This place was awesome. Of course, everyone in our party ordered the same thing (whole belly clam basket), so I can't comment on anything but that. They were tender and sweet with just the right amount of breading. The onion rings were great as well. I actually ate those before digging into the clams. I was told by my friends that the fries were good too. The prices were fair and the staff were super friendly. Even the bathrooms were clean and spotless. I appreciate a clean bathroom, lol. It says a lot about a business. Anyway, give them a try. You won't be sorry, and the view is pretty awesome, too!

Michael P.

Yelp
We went to have lunch on the way to Rocklin second week of July 2024. My wife is from New England and thought the butter lobster roll was excellent for the price. I had a fish basket broiled and it was also very good and filling. We did time the visit so we did not have to wait in line we were there a little bit before lunch. We saw driving that way the day before that the line can get very long.

Casie G.

Yelp
Wow. I wish I could claw my way back to this place... Got the half pound lobster roll and it was incredible. French fries were great as well as a side. Lemonade on a hot day was the cherry on top! Beautiful view from the back deck, definitely worth the wait in line.

Kelly G.

Yelp
The lobster roll is really good here . It's not the best , but it's good . The buttery toasted New England-style roll is filled with freshly picked lobster meat with a just a touch of Hellmann's. I like to spritz mine with lemon . Don't waste your appetite on the lobster bisque or the lobster Rangoon "legs" or the lobster mac and cheese - they're all mediocre. The lobster mac and cheese is misleading because it's prepared using penne pasta instead of macaroni. It's a lobster pasta . I would have never guessed macaroni in cheese . Maybe it's an inside joke ? Go for the lobster roll . If you love lobster , you won't regret it . Served with a side of chips and pickle spear. If you have room for dessert the Maine wild blueberry shortcake is delicious: house made wild Maine blueberry biscuits topped with fresh blueberry compote and homemade whipped cream. It is yummy ! Keep in mind there may be a line so plan your visit accordingly. It's probably the best place for lobster in Rockland. There's a small parking lot with free parking and seating is outdoors and covered overlooking the ocean . Check them out if you're in Rockland !

Nikki B.

Yelp
Only restaurant we ate at twice on our weeklong vacation, so delicious! Did not get pictures of everything we tried but we tried a lot. Definitely get the old bay honey butter on your lobster roll and get a bowl of the clam chowder. Best clam chowder we have ever had. Blueberry cornbread was phenomenal and the lazy lobster dinner is the way to go. So much meat.

Megan B.

Yelp
Ambiance can't be beat when you have these kind of views in Maine. But what I'm here to tell you about is the baked beans. So much better than the coleslaw here. So if it's even remotely a reasonable temperature for you to eat baked beans, do. Because they're really good. I also had the beet salad which was huge and tasty.

Kit P.

Yelp
The food, the service, the ambience, five stars for sure probably the best place we've had lobster in Maine. Coleslaw and the whole belly clams were stupendious .

Melissa H.

Yelp
Amazing food! A LOBSTER DONUT! whoa! Everything was great, ambience was great and service nice! Would recommend going on an "off hour" (2-4 pm)

Joshua F.

Yelp
Will not go back. 2 Lobster rolls, $70 w tax and tip. The restaurant was averagely busy for a Sunday lunch. Our order was ignored, after an hour waiting with no concern or communication from the staff, watching patrons after us come and go, plate after plate of food come out, had to speak up to get our food. "I'll check." 2 hot dog buns with lobster and butter took how long? Waitress carrying around 2 lobster rolls, looking lost. Is that #13? "Ummm, nooooo" Like, how dare you ask? Down the street you'll find 2 lobster rolls for $35. You can't treat people this way. Wish I had the tip back too, which you'll be asked to pay before finding out what service you don't get. The lobster rolls were average, the toasted bun tasted off.

Mike C.

Yelp
Worst seafood combo I have ever had, anywhere. $26 for this. Fish was dry beyond belief, as well as scallops and tiny-azz shrimp that are like dollar store quality. Lobster was good. Steak item was ok but pricey. Waited a half hour for this and would not come here if it were the only place open for 30 miles and not worth going 2 steps for it.

Doug R.

Yelp
Down home. Down East. No quiche. No ferns. The Maine-style lobster rolls are fantastic! What is Maine-style? All lobster. Just lobster. On a great roll. None of that city-slicker mayonnaise or sauce to hide the great lobster flavor. Ditto for their crab roll! Ditto for the lobster Mac & Cheese - a very generous portion. The seafood stew/casserole is merely excellent, although the portion seemed a tad skimpy for the price. But, no regrets.

Sarah R.

Yelp
I'm so happy my family and I were able to stop by before they closed for the season. Ordering was a breeze at the counter, and the servers would bring your dishes to the table. On the menu it said "you haven't lived until you've tasted lobster freshly picked" or something like that. And I don't know if it was the power of suggestion, but their lobster was soooo good. Super sweet and juicy. Even the chowders were better than usual! Probably the best meal I've had during our week-long road trip. It was such a lovely experience and I can't wait to go back.

Rose E.

Yelp
The whole lobster was delicious! So many choices of seafood. The server was so nice and attentive. Sat outside with a beautiful view of the harbor.

Shelbie C.

Yelp
It was a fun place to try out. I got the trio salad. It didn't come out looking like other online pics is all I can say. Firstly they were out of crab salad so you could upgrade to a "double portion" of lobster for another 6$ or get double shrimp. These are the smaller shrimp you'd find in shrimp salad mostly anywhere. Not tiny but not anything you'd see on a main entree or shrimp cocktail. I am uploading a couple of pics so you can see the portion of this shrimp after eating two. The first pic is of the salad as it came out. Cleverly they stacked all the salads on top of each other so you can't really judge what you are getting. After realizing I didn't seem to have much shrimp I pulled the "double portion" of lobster off and was not pleased with the shrimp portion. Not nice guys. That was a bit of a switch the bait when you were already out of the crab and ipcharged for the lobster. The lobster portion was nice. But it was a double so... the upside is that the veggies were delicious and the flavor overall was good overall. They need to cut the veggies more though. Glad I was not on a date bc that salad is messy even after attempting to cut it myself. The blueberry vinaigrette was mostly oil but it wasn't bad. Ranch was not good. More like a sour cream dill tzatziki kind of thing. I paid 49$ (small fries at 4$ and iced tea at 3.50 plus tax and tip, salad approx 32) bucks for the experience. Once fine. I liked the atmosphere on a cool day. I'm a Floridian so this gave off some Florida seafood shack vibes I appreciate. Lots of summer work and travel students (people be nice I saw on guy being so rude to one of these young people bc she brought him oyster crackers instead of saltines; what a cretin. they work hard to be here and it's not easy to get that visa and they pay us often not so much as they had imagined so for gods sake be nice).

R R.

Yelp
The lobster roll was large and delicious. Just what you would expect. And I liked the view of the water.

Kathy K.

Yelp
3.5 stars. We waited just over 45 minutes before our food was delivered. They had not done anything to make it possible to get the lobster out of its shell. They suggested we go to a communal butcher block table and use the 1 large mallet as they had no claw crackers, picks or really sharp knives. The lobster was perfect-corn, Cole slaw and blueberry bread were OK. Staff were polite, but not very helpful. The place is crowded and noisy, with decent seating. It feels like a shortage of lobster restaurants in the Penobscot Bay Area around Rockland/Camden and I am not kidding.

Linda H.

Yelp
We were walking from the dinghy dock to the grocery store and wanted to eat before shopping Claws was the only restaurant in the way that was open on a Monday and we are glad that was the case. The shrimp basket was delicious, especially with the onion straws. There was so much shrimp! I had a hard time deciding between the lobster tacos and a lobster roll. The tacos on corn tortillas were the perfect choice! Lots of fresh lobster and a great blueberry salsa! We also tried the very bliss salad. It was good and very large, but a little bland. The service was good and pretty fast for dinner time. We will return for more heat food!

Brenda G.

Yelp
After spending a week with new and old friends painting, we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. What a disappointment the quality of the food was. The fish was way over cooked, the artichoke, crab dip was still cold in the middle, and the wait staff was not trained to pay attention to details. The Bloody Mary was delicious, and if you keep it to just cocktails, this is your go to place.

Jan B.

Yelp
With all of the seafood restaurant options to choose from in Rockland, ME, this one falls far short. The food was average, certainly not worth the hour wait we had. The only reason we went was most restaurants were closed on Monday. If we had it to do over, we would have bought seafood over the weekend and cooked at our rental.

Yelp
It's a lobstah shack! Don't expect more. Lobster rolls were great and they had gluten free rolls!! Corn on cob and baked potato was good but average. Again it's a lobster shack. The line gets long after 5:30 so go early. Nice views of the harbor.

Yelp
Small boring (lots of bread, little clam content clam cakes. Gritty and small steamers. Good clam (more clams and less filler) chowder. Lazy lobster plate was "tourist priced" Staff was friendly and helpful but there's better food around. CORRECTION: it was crab cakes but the comments stand. Tasteless, tiny, mostly shell and full of filler. AMEND: The wait time was 30+ minutes with the restaurant half full. The steamers arrived cold, 1/4 out of the shells, several smashed shells and the cold water bath didn't remove the grit. NOTE: The young man who delivered the food was pulling out garbage bags and filling the dumpster when we arrived. Not an appetizing mix.

Yelp
Drove by this roadside diner yesterday and saw long lines. Negligible today. We stopped and are glad we did. Friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. Extensive menu choices. Got the acclaimed lobster roll, Rockland dinner, and oysters. All excellent! Exceeded expectations. May go back tomorrow for the chow day and scallops. Bottom line: Try it and decide for yourself

Yelp
I'll start with the positives. Cashier at the front was friendly and attentive. Food was decent and they were generous with the lobster on the Lobster Roll that was ordered. It was to have mayo but I'm not sure if it actually did. Another dish was ordered and was well seasoned, but overdone and a bit skimpy on the portions. Unfortunately, it took a solid 40 minutes to receive our food and a salad was missing. The server acknowledged this, but 10 minutes later when we had finished our meals, it was nowhere to be seen. We moved on. It was not especially busy that evening either. As you do not have a dedicated server, there is very little to be done. I did inquire about the food around the 30 minute mark and was acknowledged, but there was nothing resembling an apology given. Ambiance was fine outside of one guy who loudly used mallet in the dining room to do something over and over and over. This may have been less annoying if we weren't waiting as long. As we exited, two staff members stood by the path out and completely ignored us.

Yelp
The haddock was fabulous. Well cooked and served piping hot. My husband got the seafood plated and he gave it two thumbs up (especially the scallops). Try the blueberry cornbread! Downside was nature! Sitting outside we were fighting the flies but food was delicious.

Yelp
This is a family run restaurant, with the friendliest, precious family around (no, they're not relatives, this was my first time there). The food was out of this world delicious and fresh. A special treat for me was the finest calamari I've ever eaten. I'm allergic to shellfish so my only delight close to that is squid so I eat a lot of squid... everywhere. The only way to describe Claw's calamari is "pillows of happiness." The batter is light and fluffy and so is the calamari! Not chewy one little bit. Unbelievable! Everything tastes as if it's homemade including their cocktail sauce, tartar, sauce, coleslaw, etc. The beer I ordered was freezing cold and filled to the brim! What a treat that was too. This is a "don't miss" place.

Yelp
We went here for lunch today. I had the crabby artichoke dip. It was the worst I had ever had. Tasted like hot cream cheese. No flavor crab or artichokes would not recommend
