Great location easy access with car park below with lift straight to reception walking distance to all amenities. Hotel very spacious with all facilities, pool etc good comfortable size room as you would expect. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bar food and breakfast Great we only stayed one night so didn't use restaurant. Went to concert that evening, again just a walk to the venue. Room service from 10.30pm to 6am brilliant if your back late.

Google
Absolutely brilliant service by Emma & Aisling. The girls were so very helpful and super to deal with! We had a million questions and they happily helped us out. A special thanks to Emma who might have gotten herself in trouble by us chancing our arm asking about special offers. But because of her and her only we stayed that extra night and will be back again.

Had a 3 night stay here. The hotel is nice & clean staff are are super nice & friendly. The breakfast was amazing everyday & left the buffet ready to pop. We had a balcony room overlooking the river but the way it’s designed meant it was noisy at night when windy. The gym is very well equipped & the pool & sauna steam rooms lovely & clean. Recommended to stay here

Will be staying again. All staff been brilliant. Our flight had issues landing and let us check in 3 hours early with no charge. Rooms are spot on. Pool area Is great and the food is decent. Breakfast was €16 euro each and had a huge selection. Great location

Google
The room was good. Quiet. The hotel property is a short walk from the English Market, Oak Wood Pizza (excellent), and other landmarks. It’s a short drive to the Blarney Castle and the Blarney Woolen Mill.

Google
Very nice hotel. The room was a bit dated with stained carpet, but roomy and comfortable beds. Fantastic health club for fitness. Had a terrible experience in their restaurant and would not recommend, especially since there are so many great restaurants within walking distance.

Google
Wow! Amazing, stylish hotel which is the centre of everything. Room was lush. We had a Balcony double room. The ONLY negative but potential positive feedback is to have 2 wee chairs and a table on your balcony. I was having to take 1 of the lounge chairs out everytime I wanted to soal in the lovely view of the River Lee. Breakfast was AMAZING! All staff treated us with respect and had a very friendly atmosphere. We were that impressed that we wanted to book straight away for Paddys day next year but sold out 🫤 Thanks Clayton for a lovely, relaxed stay 😁

Google
Great location, Gemma was super helpful and upgraded us to a balcony room. Spotless clean. Restaurant didn't have much on offer for our taste, but what we did get was nice. Breakfast was actually beautiful, id go back for that alone. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Clayton hotel is the worst hotel I have ever used on the entire planet Bathroom smelled like wee Room was not clean I expect much more at this price point The people are friendly and do their jobs well but the management should be ashamed to run such a terrible hotel Never ever stay here You would be better off to sleep on the street !!

LS C.

Yelp
Huge room with stunning wrap around balcony. We always love a balcony but here it was a life saver. Although the hotel claimed AC, it did not work! The hotel gave us a fan but the room was HOT. Keeping the windows and doors open made the room comfortable to sleep. Huge bathroom with enormous tub and functional shower.

Yelp
The hotel itself was fine. However I thought the location was maybe less than desired. I feel like I did not get to see the Cork I expected as it seemed more suited for business people and was located a few blocks from the main Street with pub and stores. That said, the rooms were clean and nice but just did not really have any charm to them.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. I did not like the Event staff. They were very hard to deal with. Not sure I could recommend this place for an Event.

Michael S.

Yelp
No AIR CONDITIONING in the hotel rooms. And if you are unlucky enough to be on the restaurant side, expect the smells from the kitchen to fill your room. Nice staff, nice location. Must take taxi to city center/market.

Yelp
Very comfortable hotel, great location within walking distance of just about everywhere in the city centre. It's a typical corporate hotel which, yo be fair, is no bad thing. It does exactly what it says on the tin and could be in just about any city in the world. The bar is equally corporate but, again, not a complaint. The full Irish breakfast is sinful. Eggs prepared to order and everything else on a buffet. They do have the healthy option for those who are into it. In my view, however, a massive unhealthy full Irish breakfast buffet is the whole point here. Load up with bacon, sausages, pudding etc etc., loads of toast, tea or coffee and orange juice as a vain nod to something vaguely healthy. Lunch skipped as a result. I will be back, given the opportunity.

Yelp
The hotel itself is lovely except for the fact that the air-conditioning system did not work the first night we were sleeping in pools of sweat the second night they handed us a fan for the room. I ended up catching a fever because of it. While using the gym on the second night I had one particular gym user attempt to intimidate me off a weight machine and the situation almost erupted into a fist fight resulting in me walking out of the gym before anything further happened. The fact that the spa is only open on thurs to Sunday was a massive disappointment to my wife, any other hotel makes the spa available to their guests every day of the week. And on our first night we needed bottles of water in a room and we were told to go buy them at the bar. Last day, we were stood at the breakfast rooms door for over 20 minutes before anyone came to us, then we were sent off to a waiting table.

Bob V.

Yelp
I'd have given zero stars, but you need to give at least one to leave a review. Don't come here! We stayed two nights and both nights the TV didn't work. The first night, someone came up and eventually got it working. The second night, two men came up and were baffled! The room has a coffee machine for which we had 3 pods: coffee, decaffeinated coffee, and hot chocolate. We called down for an extra pod of coffee in the afternoon and left to go about our business. When we returned we found our request unfulfilled. The next night, in spite of the housekeeping visit that resulted in new coffee cups, no coffee pods were replaced! We had to use our cell phones to call the desk for help with these issues because the room phone didn't work! The carpeted floor outside the bathroom was wet when we arrived in the afternoon and even though we hadn't used the shower, upon our return that night, it was still wet! When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they were unconcerned and tried to suggest that we caused it! This is one of the most expensive hotels in Cork City. We were charged $586.37 for a two night stay, and they charged us upon making the reservation, 5 months before our stay! We've stayed in hotels all over the world that we're operated much better than this for far less money.

Yelp
Stayed here for a week to 10 days. Good place to crash. Breakfast was decent, they had smoked salmon and fresh fruits. Close to downtown

Yelp
This is unprecedented for me, I wait to write my reviews after my stay. I am so disappointed in this hotel right now and I was so hoping for a lovely venue. After a very long drive from The Cliffs of Moher, which were gorgeous btw, we found it very difficult to locate the hotel. I finally saw the name from across the river. We circled three different times, in crazy heavy traffic mind you, before we called the hotel to ask where the heck do we park. A very nice gentleman actually came outside to give us directions to the car park. The lovely young lady who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. But, when we arrived at our room, HUGE disappointment. It's a little on the shabby side, I'm fine with that. I am not fine with the claustrophobic feel inside as the "view" is the bar/lobby. We did go down into that bar for a Guinness and desert, which were tasty. Then back up to our cave of a room where I finally noticed there were no wash clothes. I called for someone to bring some up, was told there would be a 20 minute wait time. I'm still waiting, I used a large hand towel to wash my face. The shower itself leaked water from the half stall door onto the floor and then there's the mold. Seriously, a little tilex will get rid of that quickly. I'm hoping for a miraculous change of heart (from me), I really wanted this to be nice. To recap, the hotel staff has been great. The facilities, not so much. Since this is a business trip, I will notify the company to choose a different hotel for other company members.

Yelp
This place was great the pool and jacuzzi are amazing they also have a sauna which is gorgeous and really nice the people that work here are all super nice and very helpful also the restaurants food is really good a little overpriced but overall good

Yelp
Good facility, horrible staff. Literally every single staff member you speak to is unhelpful, arrogant, and rude. They have zero knowledge of how to speak to customers. They also have no clue about how to properly validate or inform their customers about parking below. If you have any questions go to the guy who's actually below in the lot managing the parking garage. He is awesome and will go beyond to help you. We tried to inform reception that the information they gave us about parking was incorrect and they went on to act like we were stupid and beneath them. The attitude was completely unprofessional and shocking coming from people in the hospitality business. It's clear that the bad attitudes are enabled by and even propagated from management. I have stayed in Clayton hotels before and had a wonderful experience so this makes it even more clear to me that these problems are entirely staff related. This hotel has the potential to be great but it needs to have a complete revamp of their staffing.

Yelp
Great hotel! Went to Cork with work for three days and we stayed at the Clarion. The hotel rooms were very clean and fancy. TV, minibar, hairdryer, coffee maker and more. The breakfast buffet was also very good. A lot to choose of on the buffet. They served everything from fruit salad to English breakfast. The rest of the facility were in great shape and high class. They had a spa with pool, a gym, a restaurant and a pub. The hotel were located a short walk from all the great pubs in the centre of town.

Yelp
Troubling!!!! Do not stay here! My fiancée had her laptop stolen from her hotel room and hotel staff claims to not be able tell who entered her room - will steal things from your room

Yelp
The location is good. About 2 blocks from where all the action is at city centre. The employees here are outstanding (except for one ). Literally 2 minute walk to bus station. 10 minute walk to train station. Common areas are nice. Lounge areas are very large (but they need to get rid of the stained green couch Yuck!) Kudos restaurant and bar offers Asian food but also offers other items like steaks and sandwiches etc. Again, excellent staff here. Coffee stand opens at 7am but doesn't open until 9am on Saturday and closed on Sunday (why?). Here is highlights for our room: Bed and pillows were comfortable, good selection of TV stations (for Americans which is rare and was great), safe in room, coffee maker, two little packaged biscuits replenished everyday placed by coffee maker, closet space, plenty of counter space in bathroom, good shower, decent size room. Negatives of the room: Reserved a "superior room" which should have been double/single and was surprised to see a double/2 singles in room which made the room really tight so make sure at check in you get the room you reserved because we were just to tired to go back downstairs to complain. Room felt dated and furniture was dusty. The air conditioning unit in our room was old and it barely worked. If you really need it it will never cool the room, no mini bar as stated on website but it is now used as a mini fridge, no sheets on bed just a duvet/comforter, no Fox News channel but of course several CNN channels, no map or any information offered at check in (nothing!) No WiFi instructions/password either. In fact the woman who checked us in asked if I wanted to pay with my credit card in euros or USD. When asked (numerous times) what the difference was she would not answer me but I knew (and she did too) it's cheaper to pay in Euros. I booked a "superior room" but if you decide to stay here I would strongly recommend upgrading.

Yelp
The staff was beyond nice and helpful. They were friendly, welcoming and helpful! The hotel is modern and well decorated as well as comfy and homey; the best of both worlds. The carmelized biscuits left in the room for guests are delicious! I wish I could find them in the states. The location of the hotel was perfect it was within close walking distance of the best stores and resturants the city has to offer. Also, the bus stop is just down the block which made it very easy to walk to the bus just after breakfast at the hotel and go to the city we were touring for the day. The only negative I found at the hotel was the breakfast wasn't very good and it was kind of expensive. It was an all you can eat buffet so I guess that is why the cost is so high but I found the eggs disgusting because they were so soupy. However, the staff in the resturant were extremley helpful and accommodating.

Yelp
We've stayed at the Clarion twice now, and I'm most definitely a fan. The rooms are very nice - clean, spacious, and boasting comfortable beds and free Wi-Fi. On this visit we had a room facing the internal "courtyard", but the blackout curtains in our room worked nicely and although there was some noise during the daytime hours, it was perfectly quiet while we were sleeping. The bathroom was also nice, with the exception of the tub/shower, which had one of the (personally dreaded) European 1/2 shower doors...but the lighting was good, there was plenty of counter space, and the towels were large and plush, so that somewhat made up for the shower door. Staff were friendly when we checked in, and were quick to direct us to the nearby parking garage (10 Euros a night to park) and answer any questions we had. They also offered us complimentary bottles of water, which was appreciated. As we stayed during the Xmas holiday season, the whole hotel was nicely decorated and gave off a festive air, and although we didn't eat in the hotel, we saw plenty of people making use of the seating/dining area in the lobby. (There is a coffee "shop" as well as an actual restaurant on site.) The location absolutely cannot be beat - it's a quick walk to tons of pubs, restaurants, shops, and basically all of downtown Cork. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and affordable hotel in Cork that's near all of the action, you can't go wrong with the Clarion. We'll certainly be back.

Yelp
We just sat down to dinner and my brother is a vegetarian. We asked for an omelette or scrambled eggs and we told the chef said NO!! They can't do it. But they offer full breakfast! I don't understand. Won't be back

Yelp
My first impressions as I checked in was wishing I was at the river lee. I haven't seen a CRT tv in a while, and the bathroom was tiny. The shower was especially annoying. It took me too long to figure out how to use and I managed to get water everywhere since the glass divider doesn't extend across the entire shower (WHY????) I was exhausted and starving, so I ordered some fish and chips to the room which arrived much faster then expected, and met my quality expectations. Itching to see the city I started to walk by the river. In less then 15 minutes I found myself at the River Lee admiring the gorgeous building and impressive views. Sadly they couldn't help me get a room. So i headed back to my room..convinced this wasn't going to be a good stay. I was pleasantly surprised to realize I was wrong. I slept like a baby that night. Excellent bed. When I hooked up with my colleagues who had stayed at the River lee, they complained about the internet. At the Clarion, the internet was free, and amazingly faster then most hotels where I'm forced to pay. I was able to stream video off the internet which is amazing. Cork is pretty nice for being such a walkable city, but over time I began to appreciate the location more and more. There are many great restaurants nearby. Getting a taxi was easy.

Yelp
Was a great stay. Last minute and great location. Parking in the garage and a pretty decent gym (it was crowded since its also a monthly membership gym). There was also a lap pool ( you never see that at a hotel). The hotel is not extravagant, but definitely recommend for business or for short stays. It is clean, but can use some updates.

Josephine H.

Yelp
Great location - lots of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Nice rooms, good service, excellent breakfast. Slightly expensive but I know it costs a lot to be in the middle of the city.
google avatar

Yelp
Used it mostly as a venue for events and rarely as a hotel. The check in staff is mostly courteous and friendly. I did have one girl that look a bit dishevelled, chewing a gum.... I visited their suite and was disappointed. Huge space, two bathrooms but only one bed. There was a TV at the end of the bed but all the cables were apparent and tangled. The light on the ceiling was broken and the carpet was stained. Very poor attention to details for the room that is meant to be their best room and especially oon an open day.

Yelp
Things I loved: The room was utterly fabulous. Great balcony, city view, clean, good size. The bar staff.were amazing, efficient, friendly, chatty and helpful. pints weren't bad except Guinness which is terrible in hotels. Food decent. Things I didnt care for: reception staff, very cold. Bed in room was two twin beds together hate that. Lovely hotel but no smoking area?! Wut? Room service menu... Very basic. Demanded up front payment.

Yelp
CLARION HOTEL PENTHOUSE 28.08.10 The stunning rooftop penthouse of the Cork Clarion Hotel overlooks the city and I suspect that is why attracted most of us who visited during the recent Heritage day. But it is more than just a viewing point. The split level venue is an ideal party or product launch base and is fitted with all the latest technology. And just to confirm: the views over the city are quite good, especially to the east, south and west. http://www.clarionhotelcorkcity.com GOOD WINE SHOW 13.11.09 Very enjoyable session at the Good Wine Show in the Clarion yesterday. First up were the Curious Wines (Bandon) section where we got off to a lively start with a mouthful or two of Aureus Cremant de Loire. They had a terrific selection and definitely the best leaflet on display. Then called to the Carrigaline based Karwig Wine stand where again we availed of excellent information delivered in a friendly manner. While they have wines from all over, their strongpoint is the quality and quantity of their German and Austrian wines and we particularly enjoyed our sample of the Wohlmuth Riesling. Then it was on to Bubble Brothers, the city based merchant. Again, the staff were informative and friendly and we got a big welcome from the rep of the Australian Xanadu estate on the Margaret River, four hours out of Perth. This estate was once owned by an Irish family (Lagan) but recently taken over by the Rathbones who have just relaunched the wines. And they are good and it was here, after talking a "consultation" break at the food tables (Irish and French cheeses from On the Pig's Back, bread from Arbutus and smoked duck from Ummera), that we decided on their 2007 Next of Kin Cabernet as our Best in Show! The 2009 Next of Kin Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is not bad either! Then, the day still young, we headed down to Kudos Restaurant with a 20% discount voucher from the show (which is on again this Saturday from 11.00 to 16.00). LUNCH AT THE ATRIUM The Atrium Lounge in the Clarion Hotel (Lapps Quay) is a good spot for a light lunch. Certainly, I enjoyed my recent visit and found the prices quite reasonable. I had a Toasted Focaccia (with Greek cheese and tomato), served with a salad and a handful of potato crisps. It was quite substantial and the cost was €8.50. I had a glass of Siete Sauvignon Blanc (€5.75) with it and was very happy with the meal. You get quite a choice of similar dishes - my companion had a Chicken Quesadilla - and they also have a selection of sandwiches. The Atrium is more or less an extension of the lobby. It is not self service. You are served at your table as you sit in very comfortable seats. So, if the shopping gets too much and you need a pit stop, call into the Clarion, relax and treat yourself.

Yelp
Very nice business hotel, comfortable and affordable. The Asian inspired food is tasty but this limits their menu quite a bit. Decent breakfast buffet with hot food, good coffee and the usual (fruit etc). They have replaced the TV's from CRT to LG flatscreens, WiFi is free and fast and the beds are very comfortable.

Yelp
Stayed here in June with family. Had 2 rooms for 4 adults and 6 children. The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable, and there was air conditioning so we could get the rooms to just the right temperature. Great location, helpful and friendly staff - gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We also ate in the hotel restaurant (Asian/Irish mix) and the food was very good and the prices reasonable. Highly recommend this place if you're staying in Cork - it's not a B&B - it's a typical US-style hotel. Also strongly recommend a visit to the "Coffee Pod" outside the front door of the hotel. Food and beverages there are great!

Yelp
Wonderful customer service! They were so accommodating! I came here to present at a conference. They have great room service from the restaurants downstairs. I loved the full breakfast buffet every morning. It's the perfect way to start off the day! The hotel is in a great location on the river and close to great shopping and restaurants. I will definitely stay here again!
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
Not my favorite hotel, mainly for service. Everything else was fine. Rooms were clean. Location was convenient walking distance for restaurants and shopping, located right on the river. But the service was horrible. Starting with no one ever returning a promised call to answer the question of directions to an area pub and ending with a neglected wake up call. The breakfast service in the restaurant did not seem to include clearing plates and the use of chaffing dishes caused many utensils to go for a swim (which is not especially appetizing, nor sanitary).

Yelp
Stayed one night on a day trip out of Dublin, as we are visiting Ireland. Hotel room was very modern and efficient. Location was walking distance to everything we wanted to visit, which was key since we didnt want to do much more driving. The underground carpark was very convenient. And I guess the feature we appreciated most was the free in-room wi-fi! This is the first hotel in our week in Ireland to have this; others provided it in the lobby only. In fact, i'm using it right now to post! ;) Excellent value!

Yelp
I am so disappointed in this hotel. I have stayed here multiple times for work and am here currently. Since day one I felt their beds were very uncomfortable and the noise from the hostel across the street can keep you up if you are a light sleeper. But I kept coming back because of the location and the people here were nice. After tonight I will be cancelling the rest of my weeks here. They held an event for young graduating students and while I expected some noise until late i did not expect it to still be extremely loud at 2:30am! I have heard people yelling and running up and down the hallways. I have heard people playing the piano at 2am which echoes up into the rooms. I have called down to the front desk numerous times to only get a busy tone. This is utterly ridiculous. Why would you leave me a note telling me sorry for any inconvenience when window washers arrive but not mentioned the all night scream fest going planned on my floor. I'm very disappointed and will not be returning.
google avatar

Gerrit G.

Yelp
Nice hotel.. I've stayed here 4 times over the past 5 years. The Kudos restaurant menu could do with an update. The breakfast buffet was ok, although having a nice peaceful start to your day was almost impossible due the the poorly placed servers station, and the constant banging of cutlery and plates. Housekeeping and staff are a bit inconsistent. After 6 days of having fresh bottles of water in my room, they suddenly stopped. I enquired and was told they are only for checkin, "but I'll get some complementary bottles sent up". Sure you will, and for the next 5 days my water never arrived again. In Room internet is good. Euro-style half shower guards are also a complete pain, but then again I'm not mopping the flood of water off the floor, so what do I care?

Yelp
Haven't been to the clarion in over a year now but I went their quite frequently and loved it each time. The check in staff remembered me ( or at least checked the system for my name ) which was really nice and the rooms are always perfect. Facilities are great as well although I would stay well clear of the restaurant they have their, it won't change my review as that's the restaurants fault so definately a place to stay if you want comfort and city centre location

Yelp
Nice hotel in a great location the room was spacious and well equipped, great breakfast (room service) we spent 2 nights there and will certainly be back. They have one of the best bars i have seen and a nice outdoor area(weather permitting). the swimming pool and gym are top class.

Yelp
friendly people, and close to the action. came to Ireland with my brother-in-law for a week of golf. we stayed at the Clarion in Cork for 3 days. we had a great time. went to a bunch of pub/bars/rest., all with in walking distance, the room and hotel lobby was very nice, and the price was good. It was an easy drive to Kinsale and Old Head golf course.... overall a very nice place to stay.

Yelp
Wonderfully helpful staff (especially Sonia on reception) who couldn't be more helpful. Room was fabulous, food and ambience great, the warmth of everyone there (despite losing the rugby 6 nations to England on St Patrick's Day) can not be surpassed. Short walk into Oliver Plunkett St and most of what's going on in the town.
