Wonderful place. Found it by due to Groupon. After our first 2 sample flights from Groupon, we tried several others they had on tap. Would really recommend for anyone who enjoys mead or would like to try some. They have something for everyone. There's also a great chicken and waffles place that will deliver for free. Before going there if you check their web page you'll see they have a lot of interesting events. From game nights to live music.

Google
I hosted a baby shower at Clear Skies Meadery and could not have had a better experience! Max and the rest of the Clear Skies Meadery team went above and beyond to make the event planning - and the day of event - super easy and special. Their mead is fantastic and Max helped us curate a special menu for our guests. Attendees who typically don't drink mead were loving the choices Max added to the menu to help introduce them to mead. Highly recommend this meadery! Oh - they are also dog-friendly, which is even better!!

Google
Really good Mead. Not overly sweet, at least the ones I tried. Plus a lot of different choices Nice live entertainment going on also😀 definitely worth stopping by!

Google
Great mead! Loved all the options on tap. The building itself is cute and welcoming. Service was great too.

Google
This spot is tucked away and doesn't look like much from the outside but it is so worth a visit. It has great decor and vibes inside, and the mead and staff are all fantastic! They have a variety of events and were great hosts for a cornhole fundraising event my company put together. They have a little merch area where you can buy some bottled mead as well (perfect holiday gifts). Highly recommend!

Google
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The meads were great, service was good and the music choice was fantastic! The only way my experience could have been better is if the prices were a little lower. (Or free, lol)

Google
Stopped by to try the mead, shared a flight of 10 between two of us. Great choices ask around& left with a 32oz of both our favorite (knotty soda) from the tasting. Food menu was small, but what they have taste great! We will be back soon

Google
We were loving Clear Skies meadery this weekend. We got two flights so we could try every mead (be careful they are pretty strong). After that we tried their Meadarita (shown in photo) which was perfect on a hot day. Lastly, we ordered their Rachel sandwich which was prepared perfectly. This is a great place to sit outdoors with your pup. For indoor seating it says that they do require proof of vaccination. I'm assuming it's because the space is small. Note: If you drink a little too much and need to walk it off, there is a cupcake place just up the road :)

Yelp
Great place. The staff is beyond knowledgeable about every item. They also knew what to sub out when some menu items were out of stock. The ambiance was nice relaxed and well designed for the kkind of space they have. They were hosting a trivia night by the time I was leaving and it was well occupied so I'm assuming it's a good place to attend for such events. The means were lovely!!! They had tratraditional dry, semi dry, semi sweet, and sweet mead. They also offered cocktails. I ordered two of the mulled mead which was perfect for the sudden onset of cold weather out. I also got a glass of the fenrir's reserve which was nice but reminded me of the Choya Umeshu Plum wine (if anyone's had it it tastes like that without the plum smell). When my friend arrived we did the five flight tasting. I got the Adam's apple, Mider's cider, Boys N Berry, Mojave Rose, and Karma. My faves were the Mojave Rose, and the Boys N Berry.... Miders Cider was a bit more of a wiff and sip than full bodied apple but it was nice, just not a fave. I also got a taste of the Hibiscus one... not a fan but the dry part was good...flavor just reminded me of a light version of flavored tussin. My friend got the Honey bear, Root of Evil,Fenrirs's Reserve, twisted Oliver, and Guava Mama. Honey Bear and Guava mama were the two that outshined the rest. So much so that we took a few growlers home of the Honey bear and got the cans for the guava. All in all, great experience. Especially happy since it is Maryland's first Meadery. One of the staff told us they will soon be looking to bring food into the establishment by next year so looking forward to that.

Yelp
What a perfect place for a gluten free gal pal like me! I had no clue that most mead was gluten free so I got to try sooo many things (unlike at traditional breweries). The ambiance inside is stellar, and the service is so friendly. I do have to say that the ambiance outside is not the best and it's a little difficult to find, but once you are in the door - perfection!

Ed G.

Yelp
I used to frequent clear skies previous space and thought it was perfect. The new space is even better. While the old place was intimate and well done the new place is much larger and beautiful. More indoor seating is nice with two comfy couches. There's another area off to the side for playing corn hole or throwing the bolts. There's events happening every month with Warhammer being played every other week on Tuesdays. The variety of meads have increased greatly and they're amazing. Today since I was on a time crunch I didn't get to try many and had to go with my gut for the Nevermore mead. Tasty but too dry for me. With my extra time I tried the norseman and preferred it to the nevermore. It's a personal preference.

Lou K.

Yelp
We had a great party at Clear Skies on New Year's Eve. Max and the rest of the crew were super easy to work with. The mead and beer flowed - my personal favorite mead was the Nevermore. The best part was the overall "vibe" in Clear Skies. Everyone was comfortable and at ease. We really appreciate how they went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time.

Yelp
From being the only people there to having the whole place crowded! Its amazing how popular this place is. I have not tried meadery or this location so this was a new experience. Driving there seems a little sketchy given that its kinda hidden in the back of what seems like an industrial area. Once you are passed that, you will see a wonderful brightly lit Meadery area. The place is well decorated and very welcoming. Clean and spacious, I love the atmosphere. They also have seating torwards the back where they make/store the mead. They have games there, but I wasnt so sure if they are available to customers. They do allow outside food which is nice since you can have something delivered. My partner and I tried the flights to get a taste of all the different kinds of meads and I have to say they really know what they are doing. There were very fine tuned taste within the mead. Very tasty and plenty of alcohol. I cant wait to go back and try the place again.

Yelp
First time visit in April 2023. MATT was the very patient, attentive, and friendly server until ELENI arrived. She, too, was wonderful. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in as I'm not really a mead person (leans towards wine/IPAs) so MATT provided the best flight he could. Thank you, MATT! Cute little place with limited bar seating. There were tables and a couple couches. When we went, they allowed dogs which made it SO much better. I would go back to try another of their cocktails. Ordered a burger from the Peruvian(?) food truck outside. It was surprisingly good. Huge apologies for not remember who the food truck was. (The person manning the food truck did not seem happy to be there. Don't care because the burger was good).

Anamika S.

Yelp
In a non-descript industrial part of Rockville but the inside set up is nice. The bartenders were very helpful in suggesting different kinds of drinks. They allow dogs which is another big plus. We picked out some favorites from the flight we tried and had a nice night out.

Sara Z.

Yelp
It's tucked away and it's easy to miss, but follow the GPS and you'll be rewarded with tasty mead! We came here while waiting for the pup to be done with her bath at DogiZone, then we brought her inside since they're dog friendly. The flights are well-portioned and reasonably priced and they have a variety of snacks. We tried a total of 10 meads. I liked basically all, and would highly recommend the boysenberry and passionfruit sessions, the raven's cassis, and the karma. The sessions are kind of like a sour beer but without the hops, so it's a fruit forward taste. The staff was friendly and gave some great recommendations. You can also take a walk toward the back and see the production, and someday they'll do tours so you can see how the mead is made. I can't wait to try more of their seasonal meads!

Joshua W.

Yelp
I had always wanted to try the meadery in the Kentlands, but never quite got around to it. I was very, very happy to find out that they'd actually moved right behind Dogizone on Gude Drive, where I take my pup. Hey, she gets a bath, I get some mead, this is a pretty good deal (and Clear Skies is dog friendly!). Upon entering, the area is incredibly well decorated, spacious, and very welcoming. They have quotes from Tolkien and Gaiman, and several other authors. Their flights of mead are very reasonably priced, and almost every single one I tasted was fantastic (I tried ten... hey, I had two hours). There were a couple that were just "meh," and one I didn't care for at all, but the others were all not only good, but really good. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, too. I loved that they gave us water without us asking, with the tasting. They also have a fridge up front with a selection of meats and cheese, and little charcuterie boards -- as well as soda and other beverages. They've got a lot of space, and they're still setting things up, but it'll be really awesome once they get it all set and running. I'm looking forward to pretty regular visits.

Yelp
I have tried this mead at Farmers Markets but this was my first time trying it at its store front and I love flights!!! The meads come in such a huge variety from dry to sweet to sour that there is something for everyone! I also love that they have food there but you can also bring your own goodies in from the Farmers Market that takes place on Saturdays. I wish there was a way to bring our drinks into the courtyard especially on warmer days but overall service is relatively quick and the mead is cold!!!

Josephine K.

Yelp
A friend recommended this meadery to get together for a "Friends" trivia. It was conveniently located in an industrial park that has a few other small businesses in the area. There was some confusion as to when the trivia started as their website stated 8 PM on Thursday while their instagram stated 7 PM - we opted to come in during the earlier time, and managed to get a table for about 10 people. Once we arrived, we placed our drink orders at the bar and were able to bring outside food to eat. They have small snacks available for purchase, but I'd recommend bringing your own food as their focus is on their mead varieties. We were entered in the trivia and as a group we had a sheet of paper to write/record our answers. We did notice that one couple were using their phones to look up answers, but we remained diligent and maintained our integrity to answer the questions to the best of our knowledge. Our record keeper is a big Friends fan so we all managed to get second place and the prize was a t-shirt. The meads were tasty and I really liked their smoothie options. It was a neat place to hang out with friends.

Hunter V.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. The mead was pretty good and I thought the tasting flight provided good bang for your buck. The inside was interesting but decorated nicely, and very had an assortment of board games to play. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Loved this place. A meadery is a pretty rare business so it was a pleasant surprise to accidently come across Clear Skies. I like the idea of a flight, especially if I'm unfamiliar with what's being offered. At Clear skies the flights were perfect. There were many options, including a make-your-own. Part of the problem was there were so many choices it became a challenge to decide what to choose without guidance. The gentlemen working the day I was there made it very easy to create my flight. His recommendations were spot on and I enjoyed all of them (which doesn't happen at a winery--maybe that tells me something). We were there late afternoon so the place was very quiet, which was perfect. There isn't much parking and the location is what I'll refer to as Industrial Dead End. Not sure what happens when it is more crowded. Could be very difficult to find parking since most of the parking lot seems to be taken by the workout facility a few doors up from Clear Skies. There is one more thing to mention and that is the hardness of the chairs. Think 1970s high school wooden desk. Maybe the goal is to try to reduce customer stay time. Bring a cushion if you plan on being there for any length of time. Hard chairs and limited parking are a mere inconvenience. This place is so pleasant, run by people who are equally pleasant, with very tasty offerings, at a price that is consistent with any of the typical wineries. Part of me doesn't want to write a positive review so I'll have the place more to myself! ;-) But, you really should give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
What an excellent find! Clear Skies Meadery had a terrific selection of beverages and food, amazing service, and a wonderful location. My friend and I went and were immediately comforted by a bartender/waitress/host who asked if we'd been there before (we hadn't) and gave us wonderful guidance. She recommended ordering two flights, each containing 5 tasters, which would allow us to try all 10 (ten!) of their meads. We did, and they were delicious! One flight had their 5 "classic" meads, while the other had their 5 more-seasonal (which had more unique flavors). It was an excellent quantity to share, sample, and choose favorites from. A clear menu designated their different flavors on tap, and a different rotating menu offered mead cocktails to try another time. We ordered some hummus to share, and we each ordered a sandwich for lunch, all being quite delicious as well! They hit the spot and were very flavorful. Our service was excellent, and the space was terrific. The food was tasty, and the mead flowed. We'll return for sure!

Yelp
Visited October 2020 It was a warm day - sat outside (they did have tables and chairs available). You would have to go inside to place your order and then they would bring it out to you. On my visit I had their Meada Colada. It was a Mead Cocktail described as a Traditional Dry Mead with Pina Colada mix - enjoyed it for sure. I would love to taste other Meads as I was trying it for the first time. As I was hungry, I also ordered their Cranberry Turkey Panini and it came with a pickle and chips (Miss Vickie's chips). I found out there was Spicy Cranberry Relish on the panini and so I had them put it on the side (I later discovered that I could manage it). The panini itself is fairly large. I look forward to visiting this spot again once it is warm.

Yelp
Clear Skies Meadery opened its second location in Rockville. When you enter, you'll notice a gift shop that sells apparel, soaps, glassware, and select bottled and canned meads. The staff (especially Labiba) was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have about 23 meads on tap, available in 5oz or 16oz pours. It was nice to sample them. I got to try their Blueberry Pancake, Hades Trick, Iron Nimbus, One Bad Apple, Butterfly Sour, Cactus Pear Sour, Passionfruit Sour, and Meadarita. I enjoyed 5oz pours of Hades Trick, Passionfruit Sour, and Meadarita.

Babar S.

Yelp
Not worth the trip. It's located in a warehouse district behind a dog boarding and Bootcamp training studio- where parking felt shady. Why would anyone want to go to a warehouse area with family or a date. Not the ambiance I was looking for. Very rude staff and food was not worth it. Ambiance 1/10, customer service 2/10, Food quality 0/10.

Shawna M.

Yelp
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and a few of us wanted to social distance "the right way" so we hit up the meadery for take out slushies. The two gentleman behind the counter were happy to help with recommendations and our orders. They properly donned masks and have good service. The location is downtown kentlands and a good spot to stop at during or post COVID!

Diana N.

Yelp
Heads up: BRING BUG SPRAY!! I loved this place. I went around 8:15 PM on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded. **You are not allowed inside unless you have your vaccination card (or a picture of it)**. Everyone sat outside where it was beautifully set up with comfortable seating, overhead lights, and soft music. There are a lot of mosquitoes also enjoying the nice set up so definitely bring bug spray. I got like 20 bug bites no joke!! We ordered a flight of mead which included 4 different types. We also got a charcuterie board with different types of cheese, nuts, crackers, olives, salami, etc. You can order inside at the bar or outside using the website provided. The website was very easy to use and quick. The food will be brought out to your table. The staff was very attentive and quick. I really enjoyed it and will be back, but with bug spray next time!!

Billy V.

Yelp
Honestly im not a big fan of mead but it definitely made me tipsy, the alcohol content in these drinks are on another level. As long as it gets the job done, am I right? They had a fair of options to pick from to make a flight. I think ot ended up costing $12~ The charcuterie board was also delicious. Good enough to split between 2-3 people as a light snack. Pros: -Decent selection -Does the job Cons: -Workers were kinda slow when they weren't even busy

Brianna D.

Yelp
Great date place. 10/10. I love wine & beer - this is the best of both worlds. Our favorites (seasonal 2022) are knotty soda and vanity fair.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
My sister told me about mead and her experience elsewhere. We saw the post on IG through The Moco Show and one look at the Mead Slushie, I knew I had to try. I have never tried mead itself, so I dont have anything to compare it to, but I enjoyed it. On Saturday afternoon, a few of us decided to stop by and check it out, social distance style. We went inside two at a time and were greeted by two of the staff there behind the bar. The menus were on the bar and the gentlemen were so nice and energized, giving us feedback and suggestions based on what we said we generally enjoy. They have only been open for a couple of months, so we were glad to be able to stop by and support the business. My sister and I both ordered meadaritas. They seemed strong on the first sip, but after a while it was pretty smooth, but also refreshing. I really liked the ambiance inside and am sure it will be a cool place to hang out with others, once things start to reopen and slowly get back to normal. I definitely want to go back and try all the different mead options, but the slushie is definitely worth trying.

Scott G.

Yelp
Everyone that works here is very kind and knowledgeable about the mead products and how it is produced. My only wish would be for a better location so that more people could easily find the meadery to explore and enjoy what they are crafting. Clear Skies seems to be pretty engaged with the community and often had different events in their space, our favorite being trivia on Thursday evenings (at the time of my post anyway). The menu evolves with the seasons and as they continue to experiment with new flavors, combinations, and ingredients. I was pleased to learn that some of the ingredients are thoughtfully sources from local farms or suppliers, when possible. If mead is not your thing, some of the other crafted drinks such as the braggot (mead and beer) and cocktails are excellent - there are also nonalcoholic options, so there is really something that everyone can enjoy. Totally recommend anyone to give it a chance since it's the only meadery in Montgomery County MD.

Leona B.

Yelp
Cute meadery. Super nice staff, and really cool place to catch a flight or two...I am loving Kentlands more and more!

Jason G.

Yelp
Meads are spot on here. They describe many of them as dry or off-dry, but as a lover of sweeter stuff, I was not disappointed. Flavored offerings in particular pack a flavorful punch. Definitely worth checking out.

E. P.

Yelp
Unique, drinkable, delicious, and fun. The mead is dry and crisp, almost like a Prosecco, and not too sweet or syrupy like some meads. Plus, there are ten on tap! I tried three, all were great, and we'll be back!

Erin R.

Yelp
Delivered wonderful mead in the middle of a pandemic. The semi sweet tastes delicious, better than ren faire quality.

Meghan Q.

Yelp
My sister and I were planning on going for the grand opening, but since covid spoiled that, we settled for making a trip once they had opened more low-key, and it was worth the wait! They have a few seats inside and several tables and chairs set up on the lawn outside for appropriately distanced social dining. I tried the strawberry twist slush which was delicious. It tastes stronger than it is initially and was the perfect cool drink on a hot summer evening. My sister got a flight (which comes with nuts--fun!) and I got to sample her meads as well. The vanilla oak wasn't my favorite and was definitely the least sweet of the four she tried. I loved Meadarita--that was probably my favorite. Very sweet and very refreshing. RRG and Cherry were both fruity and slightly less sweet than Meadarita. They have a small food menu (paninis and charcuterie boards) but were also okay with people bringing take out from other local restaurants to the outdoor dining area. Already making plans to go back with a group of girlfriends--I want to try the meadarita slushy!

Brad M.

Yelp
Such a fun spot, unique experience, great food and drinks, and amazing staff!! Can't go wrong with Kentlands in general, and this is our favorite spot there.

Craig M.

Yelp
The mead is great. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They have a great variety. You should keep your empty bottles in your car just in case you find yourself nearby unexpectedly.

Scott C.

Yelp
THE MUSIC WAS AMAZING! I was by The Meadery on June 30th getting sushi and loved the band. They played a few numbers that were amazing, including a song that I'm pretty sure they wrote themselves, and great covers from across the rock universe. Kentlands needs some live music. I hope they bring this band back, and let us know when they do. I'll definitely be back with my entire scooter club.

Rachael A.

Yelp
We have had a lot of mead from clear skies since the pandemic started. We love to get a few flavors to go and try at home. Our favorite pandemic meal, by far, has been kenaki and clear skies. Can't wait until we can do it in person. The meadarita and blackberry have been my favorites but we've really enjoyed everything and this has become a go to for us

Robert B.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. The only annoying thing is their menus are on TVs that very slowly rotate between three different screens so it takes forever to figure out a complete picture of their menu and then decide what to order.

Kate A.

Yelp
Loved tasting the different meads, and the cheese board was good, too! I even bought one of the little tasting glasses. A fun outing with friends or a cool date!

Sit T.

Yelp
I just walked into an almost empty store, no indication any gathering was happening. I was told there was a party, yet one person was standing at the bar. I was REFUSED service, since I wasn't in the party. Told "we'd reopen next day at noon". You couldn't take 5 minutes out of your time to help a customer?! It was rude and frankly not worth my continued business. I hope that company party payed you lots of money to turn people away.

Christopher K.

Yelp
With this place, i think ive found my new favorite beverage. Though if you dont like mead, there has to be something defective about you. Their service is friendly and helpful and they have all kinds of tasty varieties. Real happy i found this place.

Erin D.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! The staff is wonderful and the mead is delicious! Can't wait to try every flavor.

Yen W.

Yelp
The Double Dragon was a treat from a friend. And we're now addicted. It was delish and perfect for a summer day! We'll definitely be back and can't wait to try other flavors from the menu!

Julia C.

Yelp
So delicious! I especially liked the "Enigma," fermented with hefeweizen yeast. We also tried the cocktails, but they were almost too sweet to drink. Definitely just order the mead!

Natale J.

Yelp
Delicious meads in all kinds of flavors expertly recommended and delivered by a fantastic staff!! Cannot recommend highly enough, especially for their super convenient and safe curbside pickup during this crazy virus isolation. Ask for Bugsy, you won't be disappointed! Great job Clear Skies, welcome to the neighborhood!!

Justin M.

Yelp
I had never been to a Meadery before and was curious to check out this new spot in our neighborhood. The variety of drinks they had from straight mead, frozen and colds drinks was great. It has some nice seating area outside plus amazing cheese platters and sandwiches. Owner/GM Steven recommended his signature Rueben which I will say is one of the best I had in a long time. From hoppy to sweet drinks, they seem to have something for everyone. Looking forward to going back again soon.

Madison C.

Yelp
I've gotten mead from these guys twice now, and it never disappoints. First time was getting a fill at the shop; today we ordered two bottles and a slushie for delivery (which they do within five miles). Consistently delicious and holy cow, does that frozen meadarita do the trick on a hot day. My fiancé and I aren't huge beer or wine fans, so having a Meadery in the area is a real treat. 15/10 HIGHLY recommend!

G A.

Yelp
Casual, cosy and friendly atmosphere- excellent service and don't forget to ask Jacob to give you tour of the mead flights

Susan P.

Yelp
Just found out that Clear Skies is open for delivery or pick up. We picked up a growler of the passion fruit mead this afternoon. It is delicious! A little sour, a little sweet - but not overly sweet. Goes down very easy with or without food. Can't wait until they can have their grand opening!

SB W.

Yelp
I was excited to try the mead at this new main street spot and it lived up to my high expectations. I really loved the semi-sweet and my husband enjoyed the hopped. While we can't enjoy their bar space for the time being we will enjoy our mead-to-go that their thoughtful staff prepared for us. Thanks to Clear Skies for making our quarantine that much sweeter!

Tom N.

Yelp
This bar looks awesome! Cannot wait until they open their doors. These growlers of mead will have to do for now. Delicious!!
