"I visit Clear Water Bay Second Beach when I want a sandy beach away from the city that’s still accessible by public transport and generally has relatively clean water." - Matthew Kepnes

Beautiful beach far from the city, with all the typical public beach facitlities - changing rooms, showers, toilets - all equiped with running water, electricity, mirrors, lockers (need to take your own pad lock), small shops. Easy to reach by bus or 小巴 (no.16).

It's the biggest beach in Sai Kung District, with tens of parking spots right next to a bus/ minibus stop, making it a very accessible public resort area. The beach is relatively clean with calm water and gentle slope. No wonder it's one of the busiest, even on a weekday in December.

A safe and calm beach. Good facilities for shower and changing and a nice laid-back vibe. Water is pretty still and clean inside the safe net so it’s suitable for laps or just a gentle splash. It feels out-of-the way, but has pretty good transport links, e.g. bus 91 to Diamond Hill MTR, or minibus 16 which terminates just near Po Lam MTR. It may get busy on sunny weekends, but mid-week it is a nice and calm oasis.

On Oct 6, 2022, I came again. Parking on a weekday wasn’t a problem. Despite the red flag, I swam to all the three floating platforms towing a buoy. The clear water was less than calm. Postscript On Sunday, 30 June, 2024, I came here as I couldn’t find a vacant parking lot at Silverstrand Bay. The Beach was crowded in a hot summer day. While feeling the cool bay water, I watched my belongings deposited near the shore.

This beach is sunny and delightful. It’s easy to reach with just a simple bus ride! The water in inviting, the sand is fine, there are little sands with water, snacks, and rental sub umbrellas, and showers. This is a truest gorgeous place to visit in any holiday when you’re looking for a beach! In just a short little hike you can reach Clear Water Bay First beach.

Water was clear (as there had been no typhoons) and sand was clean. Beach has ample shade under the trees on a weekday, but you may be fighting for a spot on weekends. Little kiosk operating for cold drinks, snacks and ice-cream. Lifeguards monitoring the beach. No ball games allowed.

There are two sister beaches in Clear Water just south of Tai Au Mun village. Beach 2 is the famous beach with fine sand, three lifeguard stations and good facilities with toilets, changing rooms and refreshment kiosk. There is a shark prevention net spanning a few hundred metres, providing loads of swimming area for beachgoers. Beach 1 is a small, surplus beach just a couple hundred metres northeast of Beach 2. It is much smaller and has quite a lot of big pebbles in places. Otherwise, it is noticeably quieter and with basic facilities as well. Most convenient transportation to Clearwater Bay Beach 2 is by way of KMB bus route 91 from Diamond Hill Bus Terminus & MTR Station, Minibus 103 to/from Tseung Kwan O Bus Terminus & MTR Station or Minibus 16 to/from Po Lam.
