Cleland Wildlife Park

Visiting this wildlife park was an absolutely delightful experience. I had the opportunity to see a wide variety of iconic Australian animals, from beautiful native birds to reptiles in a well-curated reptile section. One of the highlights was getting up close—patting a koala and feeding kangaroos and emus, which made the visit truly memorable. The park is spacious and thoughtfully laid out, making it easy and enjoyable to explore the entire facility. After touring, the modest café provided a perfect spot to relax and refresh. Overall, the park is very well organised, family-friendly, and full of enriching experiences. A wonderful place to visit and highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with Australia’s unique wildlife.

We go to Puggle Play at Cleland every week during the school term, and it is such a lovely experience. The group is thoughtfully run with natural sensory activities, reading, singing, and gentle play, all perfectly suited to little ones. It is a calm, engaging space and something we genuinely look forward to each week. When visiting Cleland, it is easy to miss the echidnas and wombats, but don't skip them, they are well worth seeking out. A wonderful place for families with children and a really special part of our weekly routine.

Fantastic place to visit to see native animals and enjoy part of the beautiful Adelaide hills. Layout of the park is expansive and has clear paths and lots of different areas to explore. Lovely way to spend a day.

Really enjoyed the variety of kangaroos here. Being able to get close and pet them was a highlight! The park is well-maintained and the animals seem happy. However, I had a slightly confusing experience at the Koala photo session. While the staff were friendly during the introduction, they became quite restrictive when my mom tried to take a quick photo of me (it took less than a minute in total). I noticed other groups before us were allowed to take selfies and individual photos without any issues, but we were told it wasn't allowed. Wildlife parks in Melbourne where you can actually pet kangaroos are usually too far from the city, so this park is a great alternative. I would recommend this place to my friends. It felt a bit inconsistent in terms of how rules were applied. Other than that, it's a beautiful place to visit.

Cleveland Wildlife Park is a wonderful place for nature lovers and families. The park is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers a good variety of native wildlife. The enclosures are spacious, and the animals look healthy and cared for. Staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. The walking tracks are easy to navigate, and there are plenty of shaded spots to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It’s a great spot for photography as well. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable experience—definitely worth a visit!

Great experience getting to see some animals up close and getting to feed them. Lots of kangaroos to feed in a big, open area. (They also have roped-off sections where the kangaroos can go to keep people away from them if they are tired. That was nice for the roos!) Nice park with different animals and birds to see. Highly recommended for people of any age!

Excellent wildlife park in Adelaide. I have visited various wildlife parks in Australia, which are the best in my experience. The park is clean, very animal-friendly, looks excellent, and the staff are friendly and can feel their passion and love for the animals. The koala experience is fantastic; it makes my day and life. Transportation to this park is not convenient, but it's great to make it separate from the polluted world. Keep it up and never get old. Hope this park can remain green forever.

Excellent facilities and definitely educational for all ages. The aviaries, the open spaces for the fauna, the wetlands and the reptile areas all well maintained and great to visit. Take a picnic and enjoy a lovely day out

I have to admit that this is probably by far the best wildlife park that I have ever been to. The main reason for this is because, well, you can get up close and personal with the animals. In fact, unlike a lot of the parks that I have visited, you aren't restricted to the paths as well, meaning that you can wander all over the place, meet the kangaroos, and even go as far as feeding them. Oh, and there are hundreds of poteroos roaming about the place as well, which is pretty cool.

A fun spot to visit and see many of the creatures indigenous to Australia. Nice staff, and the gift shop and cafe were also quite good! We saw wallabies, kangaroos, taz devils, emu, cockatoo, koala, swans, geese, pelicans...quite an array of local beasties up close. Had a great time here...highly recommended!

Wonderful experience. Worth the extra $30 or so for the private time with koala. Employees were a pleasure to deal with. You can tell they take pride in their work.

Aside from the Australia Zoo, this was my favorite part of visiting Australia with my family. The wildlife park is huge, but not so big that you can't walk around and enjoy the wildlife. Animals are everywhere, and were very friendly and approachable. Had interactions with so many different critters. They have scheduled feedings throughout the day, and occasions where you can get up close and personal with the animals that normally stay indoors until food arrives. Would recommend this park to anyone and everyone.

Had a great time there looking at the animals. My bf doesn't really like these types of parks where the animals are in enclosures but the went with me cause he knew I wanted to go. We got to meet Fred the 16 year old wombat! We got lucky as there are only 2 spots for the encounter and we got there 10 min before the closed the sales for the opening (they feed him at 11:45). He was super chill and acted as if we weren't even there! He just munched away at his grass, corn and sweet potato. I love wombats and wish we could have seen one alive in the wild (we only saw roadkill ones). The koala experiences were booked when we got there so you should prob call or go early to book it. It is also REALLY expensive at this park. Luckily I already did it elsewhere at a 10th of the price. The koala exhibit was pretty sad tho. They had a manmade area with a wall and bricks on the floor. Not a natural habitat at all.... The kangaroos and wallabies weren't interested in people much. Guess they have so much food that the grain you purchase there isn't that appetizing. Only on the path around the park, a random wallaby and potoroo came up to me for some food. The rest of them around the park, you had to go up to them while they laid down and feed them. Lazy buggers! Got to see and pet the big reds. Amazing how huge they are! We did get to see a mommy and baby wild koala when we left the park! Look up in the trees if you're a passenger!

I must admit I was skeptical about spending our last day in Australia at the wildlife park since we had spent the prior two days exploring the wonders of Kangaroo Island and observing tons of great wildlife in the actual wild. It turns out our visit here was one of the highlights of our trip. Not only do you get to see most of the iconic indigenous animals of the continent, but you get to get REALLY close to them and even hand feed them. Note: Be SURE to purchase at least 1 bag of "kangaroo food" when you come in (we bought 2). With the exception of the koalas and just a few other things, you can hand feed the kangaroo chow to most all the animals in the park from Emus to black swans to kangaroos and Wallabys to these little muskrat-like marsupials you will encounter as you wander around (you will find them begging all over the place). In case I haven't been clear, most of the animals, like kangaroos, are roaming around in large enclosures and you just walk right in an interact with them. We were there on a very hot day so most of the animals were hanging out in the shade but all were more than pleased to nibble the little alfalfa pellets gently from our hands. I don't think any of us will forget hand feeding the kangaroos and emus who make this weird sound that's sort of a cross between a grunt and a base drum. Also be sure to take note of the daily schedule for animal feedings and keeper talks. In some cases the animals like the dingos and Tasmanian Devils weren't visible on our first stroll past their enclosures but they were essentially hand fed by the keeper in the afternoon and you got to ask questions and again see the animals up close from the walkway outside the pen. The park is located high in the Adelaide hills without great public transport option so we took a cab which was about $AUS 40 each way. If you want a memorable experience interacting with Australian animals-you should definitely pay this place a visit.

Having never seen Australian wildlife in a park, I was really impressed by Cleland. I really enjoyed meeting Willow the Koala and taking pictures with the koala bear. That was the highlight. I also liked getting close to kangaroos. It is a special park because the animals roam freely and are not enclosed, so you can have close encounters with these animals. We saw two different types of kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, emus, birds, and various other furry creatures. One grey kangaroo was lying down with a joey in it's pouch! Only problem is sometimes animals are too lazy and just lie around. It's a nice sized park. It's not too big or too small. You can have an animal adventure in Australia here. You may or may not get lost walking around. The gift shop is nice. I picked up some stuff here.

Best experience of our lives. We were face to face with koalas and kangaroos and other Australian critters. Worth every penny, we only wish we had been able to bring our kids with us on this trip. A kangaroo mama let us pet her baby Joey in her pouch!!! We never would have thought it was on our bucket list until we did it! This sanctuary is like a huge petting zoo ! I was sad to leave!

What's that Skip? The park is a great place to take tourists who think that Australian wildlife solely consists of kangaroos and koalas? Yes Skip, you'd be right in that observation. This place is a 4 star visit for tourists to get excited by holding/posing with a koala and hand feeding incredibly tame kangaroos but more like a 3 star visit for locals who know better. All in all the day we had was quite remarkably enjoyable. From monitor lizards gettin' freaky with each other (who knew lizards could pelvic thrust?) to kangas with joeys in their pouch and Big Reds kicking back and showing off their pecks to their harem of roos to holding and petting the ass of a koala, it really was entertaining. The enclosures are a little sad and sorry looking, reminding me of the Adelaide Zoo enclosures in the 70s. The picnic tables are shoved in one area of the park and are all made out of crates and logs of wood, but not in an authentic or rustic way. The signs on each enclosure has limited information about the amazing work the park actually does to rehabilitate and breed animals and their habitat and is also a bit dated. The park is clearly in desperate need of funding and support and the good news is that you can volunteer and donate there quite easily! My tips for the day? - Bring some snacks for those who get hangry, there is a lot of walking around - Don't do the walk up from Waterfall Gully to the park unless you're mad like me, it is quite a hike - Bring a tourist with you (or someone between the age of 5 and 8) and they will make your day enjoyable - Do pay to have a pat and hold of a koala, it is worth the experience and supports their breeding program - Skip the birds area, they are boring and there aren't many of them - Go late afternoon to avoid the crowds

Came here today with a disabled boy as I'm a care worer .the lady behind the counter was quite rude and wouldn't let us in with my card .the zoo and uranbila parks let you in for the price of a child.we only wanted to stay for an hour and there was only 3 cars in the carpark total waste of time .what ever happened to humanity

So much fun! A definite must do. Feeding the kangaroos is an experience everyone should have while in Australia. I had such a great time that I got the membership so I could come back! It's a great sea if you plan to go 2 or more times. The trip form the city to get here is also great, lots of things to do and see in the Mt. Lofty area!!

This place is a MUST do if you find yourself in Adelaide for the day. We took a cab from the train station. Buy the 3$ kangaroo food and you get to hand feed some of the sweetest creatures on earth. Also, before I forget to mention, the staff & shop crew were very friendly. They have a way to make you feel at home. We left there feeling really lucky to have experienced such an icon kangaroo adventure.

There's a few places around Adelaide if you're looking to spend time with wildlife, and this is one of them. Honestly, I love them all, and they're all different. This one is a bit cheaper as far as entrance fees are concerned, but to my mind it's just as enjoyable as the main Adelaide zoo. If you've never done it, cough up the cash for a photo with a koala. It's great for kids, although probably not cheap if you've got a tarago load of offspring, it's a lifelong memory, and to me that's priceless. Make sure you have a look.

Think Safari without a car and animals roaming around without a cage, freely. I love the experience of this trip! Being able to see and feed koalas and kangaroos for the first time - man this is what Australia is about! The Tasmanian Devil wouldn't stop running when we were there - it was a hype beast for sure! BE SURE TO BUY KANGAROO FEED!! I think feeding the kangaroos was the highlight of this trip for me. I was literally surrounded by kangaroos at one point with them trying to eat my hand filled with feeds. It was a joyous day :)

Really nice wildlife park, especially for families and children. We have been here a few times with the whole family. My little nephew was rapt to be able to see the koalas and birds. It was great seeing the little kids light up when they saw the different animals. I love the laid back setting of this park. It's less of a zoo and more a park, so you doesn't have the whole concrete feel to it most zoo's do. If you're going to see the other main zoo, you can get a two park pass which will save you a little cash.

Located in the Hills, this wildlife park is easily accessible from the city if you have a car. It shouldn't take you more than a 30 min drive and the scenery on the way there is quite amazing as well. I am generally not a big fan of zoos and it turned out that Cleland was exactly the right choice to encounter my first koalas and kangaroos. It is less enclosed than a typical zoo, with kangaroos jumping around pretty much everywhere. There are no fences and you can pet or feed the friendly creatures. They also have koala photo sessions a few times a day and you can choose between buying the photo they take for you or you can just take your own, which is good if you're on a budget. The park is truly magnificent and you can easily spend an entire afternoon here. Apart from the animals already mentioned, they've got a Tasmanian devil, wallabies, emus and a lot more. It is great for kids but if you're an adult who loves nature, animals and a calmer option to a zoo, it is just as fun. With an entrance fee of $18.00 for adults it's not that cheap but definitely worth it. I'm sure I'll go there again soon.

Superb destination. Kangaroos, wallabies, dingos, koalas, emus, Tasmanian devils, indigenous snakes.. All in one! Great service, friendly staff. Way better than going to the zoo! Our daughter loved the experience!

Absolutely loved it..u get to see the wildlife from so close and get to feed the animals, its absolutely amazing..it's one of my favourite tourist places in SA.
