We were originally looking to go to Driftwood, however, the set up at The Deck called our names and we felt it was a more casual and beachy vibe which is what we needed today.
We got sat right away and enjoyed the sun, breeze, and sound of waves as this is a beachside restaurant. After a few minutes, our kind and welcoming server came up to take our order. We both got micheladas and a tuna tartare to share. She got the deck tacos and I got the grilled cheese sandwich.
Micheladas were ok. It wasn't the typical michis that I'm used to. Instead of a tajin rim, it was only salt and I felt it lacked the latin flavors.
Tuna tartare was refreshing but lacked a bit of flavor. In my opinion, it could have used some lemon or some kind of citrus.
My grilled cheese sandwich stole the show. It wasn't my favorite grilled cheese sandwich of all time but in comparison to everything else we tasted, it was the best. It came out with tomato soup which I felt had too much cream but I'm biased as I don't usually consume foods that have heavy cream in it. I dunked the grilled cheese into the tomato soup to give it some moisture for the perfect bite. Cheese inside was slightly sweet which is also not my favorite, I prefer a more salty cheese. However, it did pair well with the salty and crispy bacon strips.
Tacos looked good and my friend seemed to enjoy it, however, she wished it had hot sauce or something to give it more oomf.
Overall, I think it's a cute spot that I might return to specifically for the environment and great service and maaaaybe to try other dishes on the menu because I wasn't that impressed with the dishes and drinks we tried.
4 stars because the beautiful location and great service.
