I love Cleopatra Cafe! Great place to stop in for Mediterranean food if you’re walking around downtown shopping. I had a Greek salad with gyro meat that was big enough for 2 people to share. I didn’t mind coming home with leftovers.

Google
The chicken gyros are one of the best I've had! Even compared to the New York Street vendors! Lol the manager/cook is not stingy on his servings and the chicken had a lot of flavor. I will definitely be trying more of this hole in the wall.

Google
This is a counter service establishment where you order at the counter and they bring your food out. The workers were very friendly! We had the king tut plate-falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, dolmas, pita (some pieces however were really chewy) and tabouli. (About $14) My friend had a burger and fries-not a great choice (overcooked and lukewarm), but this is a mediterranean restaurant, not a burger joint. The King Tut plate was good, portions appropriate for price. It’s a large space with lots of tables. Looked like they had a lot of beer and wine choices. We went for lunch and they were not busy on a weekday.

Google
This place is always a 10/10 and mt favorite restaurant for Mediterranean food in Santa Fe. The service is always great and the food is reasonably priced for the great quality and flavor. I usually go for a gyro but the plates (pictured is the Nile Plate) are super tasty and worth your buck

Google
7:45 PM and they closed early. Didn’t pick up their phone and didn’t stay open a few minutes early to serve their public. Hard to respect a place that doesn’t serve the public as they say they will

Food was wonderful. Very good portions.

Google
Employees are nice but the food was sub-par. We both ordered chicken gyros. The chicken was tasteless. I'm pretty sure it's boiled chicken with no seasoning. Also, it was very wet, so the plate had a pond of liquid on it once we started eating, which meant it was impossible to put the gyro down again without soaking the pita. Fortunately, there was some hot sauce on the table to add some flavor, but this meant it really didn't taste like a good Greek gyro.

Google
I have been coming to Cleopatra's to get my Mediterranean fix for 15 years. The food never disappoints and I have tried almost everything on the menu. Large portions, good price, good service. Consistency between both locations too. I gave 5 star in all areas because it was exactly what I would expect for a small cafe in a a shared building.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! I ordered the cleopatra plate and it had two kinds of meat, rice, choice of hummus or babaganoush, salad, and pita bread. All of that at a very reasonable price. After I ordered I ran to the bathroom and when I had come back, my food was presented so lovely on my table. It's inside of the design center in Santa Fe, near the roundhouse. It'll be my new favorite lunch spot while I work up here for the next few months!

Yelp
While food is always fresh and delicious and the service is always friendly and the prices are fair I won't be able to get takeout food here anymore because the containers are the worst kind of cancer-causing, eco- damaging styrofoam that there is Please change this I am willing to pay .50$ more for a proper container

Yelp
The day I went, everything was spot on. The hummus, the tabouli, the tzatziki sauce. The serving was very generous. I will be back.

Yelp
Nice place and found when eating at Pizza Centro. Big place with 24 tables with 4 chairs each. Staff was friendly and they have some can and bottled sodas and beer and wine. Ordered pistachio baklava but did not pack it in our take away. They also have walnut. Nice clean restaurant and would recommend for a nice dine in or take away. They have a hot sauce which is outstanding.

Yelp
Another Saturday restaurant review is here this time from Santa Fe. Now, there's a saying that you can test the integrity of a restaurant by going there more than once.... So with this in mind, #cleopatracafe was my next target! This time I was super hungry and ordered the King Tut platter (sampler!!!) and Mark got the Mina plate, a gyro with salad. For the price point, the amount of food was reasonable. You pay at the front and they deliver your food to your table. The food came out quickly enough and was fresh and delicious. I much appreciated the lemon in the tabouleh salad. The darkly lit ambiance was allowed me to slow down between bites and enjoy the meal. The cinnamon tea was delicious! Definite 4.5/5. Love this place! #gourmetrecovery #santaferestaurantreview #santaferestaurants

Yelp
I've ordered takeout here twice and everything was great! B

Yelp
No ambiance. Food decent but have had better Greek! Service fast. Prices not bad but pay a little more for some ambience.

Lisa A.

Yelp
I ordered a large greek salad (no onions) for 8.50. it was the saddest excuse with minimal lettuce, cheese, tomato, olives. it was barely a side salad. very disappointing. my friend had a fine-looking gyro.

Michael G.

Yelp
I've been here quite a few times and the food is good. There are 2 guys who fill the orders. One is very positive and gets it right every time. He has an upbeat attitude and willing to please. The other guy can never seem to get it right. (Check your order before you leave) he never smiles and it's almost like he does it on purpose. When I see that he's there I sometimes turn around and go somewhere else. The center is mostly vacant and not appealing so we always get the food to go.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best things about working in Santa Fe again as a state employee is being able to walk to the design center to get food. Cleopatra's has great serving sizes and wonderful service. I usually call ahead to order food, that way I don't have to wait as long, but they are very efficient here. I like to get the King Tut plate or the avgolemono soup because it is absolutely amazing. One thing I wish that they had was a 'lunch' special with a soup/salad combo because I would prefer to order something like that or a half sandwich and a soup or salad.
google avatar

Diandra B.

Yelp
This place is so good! It never disappoints. I ALWAYS get the falafel sandwich and it's perfect. The tahini sauce is really good and their hummus is my favorite. My wife gets a gyro and never changes her order . Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I have been eating here for several years and the food and service were consistently good. Just had lunch today and the cashier taking our order was extremely rude. We were the only people on line and as we were deciding what to order he was banging his hands on the register. He would not make any eye contact, keep an angry expression and did not say anything when we ordered. When he delivered our food to the table he slammed the plates down hard, again made no eye contact and did not say a word. I also noticed that he treated the table next to us the same way. I know service people are dealing with a lot these days but the cafe was not crowded, and again no line behind us. We understand when we need to wait for a table or service and also when our order is ready. Not a problem. This rudeness seemed very purposeful and inappropriately directed in our way. Additionally, our gyros were cold and fairly tasteless. The pita bread was soggy. We will not be returning since we have been noticing that the food quality has be decreasing over the past year or so.

Yelp
I wouldn't have known Cleopatra Cafe was hidden in the building until a co-worker showed me. I am so glad he did! The food tastes fresh and the portions are generous. I usually get the Nile plate with chicken. The salad is crisp and light and meat is well seasoned and cooked. Great lunch spot!
google avatar

Yelp
I love falafel, but only when it is good. And this was some super good falafel! I ate here on a trip to Santa Fe. I ordered the King Tut, all vegetarian. It was delicious! The baba ganouge was great also! I'm not usually a big fan of baba ganouge but this was super tasty and not chunky. The cafe does not have much atmosphere. Industrial, cavernous building that was nearly deserted. We were the only ones there at 6pm on a Saturday night. Despite the strange ambience the food was top notch!

Yelp
Disappointed after reading their menu and walking from hotel to pick up takeout- really anticipated a great salad. The posted closing time was 8:00 and we walked in at 7:35. The guy at the counter dryly said they were closed. I noted their website specifically stated 8:00 and again, dryly, he shared it'd been a slow day. Never said sorry or offered an apology for the inconvenience. That's fine -- more sales / tip $$ for the neighboring restaurant who chose to stay open til their posted hours, and probably a bit beyond based on the # of customers. Now to enjoy our Greek salads and hot bread!!

Anne H.

Yelp
Generous portions and great falafel, but the gyro was a little salty. Fast service with plenty of seating, so a great place to stop for a quick lunch!

Yelp
Cleopatra Cafe is order at the counter, then seats on metal chairs at metal tables in a fenced area in the indoor courtyard. Don't come here for frills or fine dining. Come here for the food. This mideastern restaurant serves up large plates of hummus, tabouli, baba ganoush, falafel and lamb gyro. The primary difference between Greek Gyro and Mideastern Gyro (also called shawarma) is the sauce. Greek Gyro use a cucumber tzatziki sauce and Mideastern Gyro use a sesame tahini sauce. We like both. The gyro here with tahini sauce is delicious. Your walkin the walk of Santa Fe and in the mood for quick casual delicious Mideastern cuisine, this is your stop. Thanks for reading, Avram

Gabridli L.

Yelp
Mediocre food in minute portions. The Greek salad doesn't contain feta so much as a teaspoon of cheese dust sprinkled on lettuce. The tsasiki is mayonnaise, and the moussaka and baba ghanoush are unidentifiable. Avoid if you can.

Yelp
This spot is part of a food collective that has a fast food vibe. We tried a couple of listed specials for the day including a spicy falafel and kafta burger. While okay overall, the food lacked the street food sizzle (sauces/flavor) and the atmosphere wasn't quite happening despite long waits at nearby restaurants. There is room for improvement here. I hope that the folks operating this food collective can figure out the garlic, spices, onions, and flavors to make this joint a happening place!

Yelp
I went here with a friend. I have never had this kind of food before. It was going outside my box. It was very good. I will go back next time I'm in Santa Fe. I think the play I had was called The King Tut. The place is very clean. I definitely enjoyed my food and visiting with my friend.
google avatar

Olwen C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the meat dishes here, but was disappointed with my falafel plate. My husband ordered the plate with chicken and lamb and got a large pile of meat, for only $1 more than my falafel plate that came with 4 small falafel. Overall the food was very tasty, just don't make the same mistake I made by ordering falafel. Prices were a little high too, combined with high taxes, our meal was almost $30 and it was a little bit lacking in quantity for the price.

Yelp
My first time here with my family. Took some time to find this place. It's inside of a strip mall that is located next to a movie theater. Glad we took the time to find it. When you open the door to this place you would think it was a small restaurant. But it actually is not. The dining area is huge. With large square tables that have plenty of elbow room. You order the food at the cashier and they bring the food out to you. We were able to try the following; Al Maryam Plate, gyro sandwich, served with tabbouleh salad, hummus and pita bread. The gyro and hummus was really flavorful. The Beef kabob plate, that was served with rice and Greek salad. The beef was a little tough for me but the Greek salad was delicious. We also tried the kefta burger. Served with steak fries, came with ketchup, onions, tomato and lettuce. All entrees were very filling. We'll definitely be back to enjoy more of the menu.

Yelp
Good middle eastern food for a reasonable price. Beware there are two locations. The first on Cerrillos was extremely difficult to find. No sign and in an old design center mall . Very odd but good. Second location at safarano is newer and hipper. Those are the photos you see on yelp. Glad to find good middle eastern food in Santa Fe.

Yelp
Food was gross the lamb was dry the only thing edible was the salad . They also forgot my bread and jalapeños. Will never order from this place again just wasted $26-

Yelp
Just ordered via Grubhub. I was excited for this but sadly it was just not good. The hummus was runny, the dolmas were soggy, the mousaka was just mostly tomato sauce was also runny. We ordered the George plate with chicken ... I think the chicken was old snd it had very little flavor. The falafels were OK. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Hellllllooooooooooo tourists! And locals too!! OMG WHAT A CRAPPY GYRO!!!! 11/22/20 7:00 PM OK... So maybe you've been in town for a week, and you're like... hmmmm I've had enough New Mexican cuisine running through my colon, hey I'ma gonna go for something different.. Hey baby how about we do Mediterranean?? Hey, Everyone loves a good Gyro... well lemme tell ya... you ain't gonna get one at Cleo-crap-ta's. I got their Gyro Sandwich and they're greek salad... The "Gyro" consisted of about a pound of lettuce, straggly tomato strands, and some meat that I guess was lamb? That they found under the counter, on the floor...last month.. no onion, and oooooo looky.. 3 THREE mangled olives and and little Pepperoncini pepper!!! The only favor they do for you is that they only give you a handful of the ancient lamb curds in the sandwich. And how about that tantalizing Greek salad? Hey. Look!! Another pound of lettuce, some mangled tomato strands..... THREE chewed up olives!! And a dusting of something white , that was I guess was supposed to be Feta. This place sucks.. the only reason they do curbside service is so they can run back inside and lock the door.. before you realize they took you like a Greek and want to go back in and kick their @$$e% And wait a minute... Cleopatra wasn't greek!! She was Egyptian!! Maybe. That's the problem.. well they put the jip in Egyptian. So maybe they're not Greek.. but neither is Arby's, where I went right afterward, whose Gyro Sandwich is TEN TIMES BETTER THAN THIS DUMP!!!! Or maybe.. seeing how it was an hour from closing, Turbin Tommy might have been too tired to make my food correctly. tired from a full day of ripping people off. $19.00... 19.00 DOLLARS OF LETTUCE!!! (And three olives)
google avatar

Yelp
The food is mediocre at best. The best thing was the Egyptian salad, which was great. The lamb kabobs were very dry, as was the chicken. The humus was okay, but not great. I won't go back.

Yelp
It's been a couple of days into my Santa Fe trip and I was beginning to get a little overwhelmed by the heaviness of the New Mexican cuisine- mostly because even though I'm lactose intolerant, I wanted to try things like mole enchiladas and huevos rancheros. It was nice to eat some gyro, as I always look for good Mediterranean food. This location is set in a random building that is like a small mall where both the Kitchen Window and the Cleopatra have their own open seating directly in front of their order counters/ kitchen. It's definitely casual dining. I took it as a really good sign that there were 5 or so tables that were occupied at 2:00 pm on a random Friday. I had a gyro- appropriately priced and standard taste- no bad surprises! Overall, a positive and solid experience.

Yelp
Awesome food - fresh & very tasty. Highly recommend, so don't hesitate and enjoy! Grub Hub was fantastic. Order arrived in about 20 minutes. Overall, extremely satisfied. Thanks CC!!!

Yelp
*TLDR: A must in Santa Fe. Affordable. Get the sheesh tewook (chicken). When done well, there is little in the world that can rival mediterranean cuisine. This is done well. Very well. The Cleopatra Plate with baba ghanauge is the way to go. I'll admit that I am not a major fan of chicken in general, but the chicken (sheesh tewook) here is not only the best chicken preparation I've ever tasted, it was my favorite item of all the wonderful food we tried. The gyro (lamb) was right up there. The beef kabob was mighty. Every other element, from the fresh, warm pita, to the baba ghanauge, tahini, tatziki, rice, Greek salad, and Egyptian salad were all top notch. Special shout-out to the Egyptian moussaka. Well familiar with the Greek staple, the Egyptian version was like nothing I expected, and it was delicious. A great shared appetizer. The prices were surprisingly good for the quality and serving size. The servings are large. We're big eaters and finished our opulent spread, but I noticed pretty much every other guest packed some to go.

Yelp
Tasty, we had a Mediterranean salad with lamb and lamb gyro plate. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Gurule P.

Yelp
Can't say enough about this place and the freshness they maintain as standard. The lamb is always just right and even the simple salads are above par. The baba ganouge is outstanding. Been coming here for at least 15 years. As a local, this place is great.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
So good, and the employees at this location are super nice. Spicy falafel in a fresh pita was the best lunch I've had in months, and the hummus was super fresh and delicious. This restaurant and Pizza Centro are the best businesses in the almost vacant Design Center.

Yelp
I generally love this place BUT tonight I came in at about ten till eight.. was informed that they were only taking to go orders.. ok not my favorite but fine.. ordered 30$ in food including two pieces of baklava.. got home... no baklava.. was charged for baklava.. got home after 8 no answer on the phone when I called.. not thrilled
google avatar

Yelp
I should probably give 3 stars, but I really enjoyed my gyro! (Expensive) but large portioned and delicious! My wife, on the other hand (whom is more experienced in this kind of cuisine) was very unhappy!! And as we all know,..."NO ONE IS HAPPY IF MAMA-BEAR AINT HAPPY"! She ordered the Babaganush and Falafel both of which were overpriced . Falafel were not crunchy at all, and the pita were soggy. Only ate here 1 time, so?.. everyone is entitled to a bad day, but i'll go to Taos and feed my Mediterranean cravings anytime i'm near this area!

Sophia A.

Yelp
Ordered thru grubhub. Was pretty good, packaging was not ideal (way too many boxes). Disappointed because the order was very delayed and also didn't receive two items we ordered, the falafel and the French fries. Would def recommend thinking twice before ordering or if you do, expect not to receive part of your order.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
We ordered after a day on the slopes and we were thrilled they delivered and the confirmation said 35-50 min BUT it arrived in maybe 20! Everything was delicious! We don't have Mediterranean /Middle East food where we live and this hit the spot! Thank you for the seamless and quick order and delivery!

Barbara B.

Yelp
During these challenging times, I have ordered food from Cleopatra Cafe numerous time. Now I am "hooked" on the Gyros Sandwich, the Cairo Chicken Plate and the Greek Salad. Excellent food at reasonable prices
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
Very disappointed. This place used to be good, but I think all the good cooks moved over to the newer Zafrano location. Not only was my order totally botched, I ordered 3 items, and I ended up getting a substitute for one of the dishes. And that substitute was a falafel in a pita bread. But the falafel was either overcooked, or leftovers from the day before. Sigh... I wish I lived in a town that had decent Mediterranean food.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Cleopatra Cafe is tucked away inside of the mall. Look for the Chinese Restaurant to the left of the mall entrance, enter through the main door, and Cleopatra will be straight ahead. Order at the deli, sit down, and enjoy! Meals are well-priced, around 5.90-7.90. I tried the falafel in pita bread with tahini sauce, and it was delicious. It was not quite filling, so I ate some pita bread that came with my friend's larger meal. I recommend ordering one of the larger meals that comes with hummus and pita bread for a full meal. Delicious, and tasted healthy.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
First off, this place is located in the middle of a shopping district (next to the movie theater), which made me skeptical when we decided to drop in for dinner. The ambience lived up to my expectation. There wasn't a ton of thought put into decoration but if food is your main concern (which it was at the time) that detail is easily forgotten. Next, we ordered from their menu which contained standard Middle Eastern items. While I had bad luck finding a Middle Eastern place that I truly liked since moving to the Southwest, this one clearly stood out as one of the better ones. It was not the best falafel I have ever had but it was well worth the visit. The food tasted fresh and had a mouthful of flavor. Not to mention, they load their plates up, so you can be sure to leave pleasantly full.
google avatar

Edward H.

Yelp
Place is average. Hummus is good, had a gyro plate, which was average - could have used some more seasoning. Problem with this location is you never know when they are open. SIgns, menus and web say they are open Sundays, but they are not. Likewise, staff tends to close up early in evenings (as told to us by them). So it can be hit or miss if they are open. Good value for the price, but "average" on middle eastern food in my opinion.

Yelp
The reviews brought me to this small order at the counter restaurant inside the Santa Fe Design Center. I was immediately happy to see Avgolemono Soup highlighted on a sign at my eye level. I ordered that along with sweet potato fries, and my husband got a small Egyptian salad and a Mexican beer. The service from Gabriel was excellent and enthusiastic without going overboard. The prices were very reasonable for Santa Fe. My husband's salad was large in both size and flavor. He liked the addition of garbanzo beans especially. The sweet potato fries were also done just right. I've saved the best for last - I love good Avgolemono Soup, and many times it tastes like water with too much lemon. Cleopatra's soup was perfection. The chicken soup was evident with just the right amount of lemon, the rice was done just right and the temperature was warm enough to last through a slow savored lunch. The pita bread that came with it was fought over by the two of us. It was soft and a little sweet - just right for the meal. We almost came back for dinner.

Yelp
I stopped by for dinner on the recommendation of the Yelpers and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Al Meryam plate -- a lamb gyro with tabbouleh and hummus. The gyro was perfect -- not greasy and loaded with fresh green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, onions and sauce. The tabbouleh was possibly the tastiest I've every had. All in all, I highly recommend this place. It's nothing fancy, but the food is fresh and delicious, and the price is right.
google avatar

Michaela D.

Yelp
Delicious and affordable, the atmosphere is surprisingly pleasant. The King Tut plate is HUGE and is nice sampling of most of their vegetarian selections, including their excellent falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, and dolmas.

Yelp
I accidentally wrote a review for this place that was intended for the Middle Eastern spot on Cordova and I feel so bad. I am not a fan of that place, but I DO enjoy the food at this spot. The gyro is a ton of food and the meat is very well-seasoned. I'm not crazy about the pita bread here, but mostly only because it's more filling and heavy than I like. The Lebanese falafel here is also very tasty, although I'd say nine times out of ten I'd prefer the lamb gyro. The prices are very fair, particularly for Santa Fe, and the food comes pretty quickly. The service is basic and not always friendly, but I feel for anyone who has to put up with Santa Feans regularly, so I excuse these folks.

Maor A.

Yelp
Very nice, tasty and authentic food. As an Israeli I really enjoyed the flavors. The presentation was great. I really recommend.

Mary G.

Yelp
I was rather disturbed to see that the only member of their kitchen staff was preparing food without a face mask. He then had his hands in the trash bin out front, and returned to work in the kitchen without washing his hands. Cleopatra's mediocre food is not worth the risk of contracting Covid or something else.

Yelp
We stopped by here on a Saturday night for dinner. The counter was manned by an older gentleman who was playing with his phone and never looked up at us when we approached to order. When we tried to order he said "we close at 9 pm". This was odd because it was only 7:30 pm. He basically refused to serve us. We obviously won't be back.
