We had a fabulous 5 day stay here. The room was spacious and had a lovely view across the river. Breakfast was very good and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. We just ate in the restaurant once but the food was well-cooked and tasty. Overall, a real gem of a hotel

We stayed for three nights. The room was comfortable and the facilities were very well done. The restaurant closes around 8:30 pm so plan accordingly. The food is good as well as Friends Bistro in town.||Of particular note, the bartender Alex is a standout!!! He is from Romania and is very intelligent personable young man. He had very good advice for places to go and visit. He is an expert mixologist with great ideas for the hotel bar. The Maddens, proprietor of the hotel, should do all in their power to keep Alex happily employed at the hotel. He is an ambassador extraordinaire!!!!!!||Kevin and Deb from Colorado

The Clew Bay hotel has to be one of my favorite stays at a hotel and my family are avid travelers. The staff at this hotel is superb. Everything was very clean and housekeeping is excellent. The room was small but quiet and the bed was so comfortable. We were supposed to stay 1 night and I just kept extending. Lucky for us they had availability although I don't think that's common but my family just didn't want to leave. The breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious and excellent service. A few small downsides (if I can even call them that): - The parking is ran by the town and daily parking is 3 euro so each morning at 8:15 am my husband ran down and paid for parking before the 8:30 am deadline. - There isn't AC (which is common all over Europe but it's worth noting) - The hotel could use a refresh of furniture in the rooms but as mentioned everything was super clean and well maintained overall. 10/10

Spent one night with our tour. Rooms were good sized, clean, but a bit dated. Quirky hallways & can bit a bit confusing to find your room. Location was good for walking around Westport.

Yelp
Arrived in Westport half way thru a 14 day excursion and found ourselves at the Clew Bay Hotel. After staying in some very nice B&B's this was a wonderful change. The hotel is a real gem. It has wonderful modern and comfortable rooms, all with a great made to irbreakfast or buffet breakfast menu, a great attached bar and the MADDENS restaurant that has great food and a full bar. The real find is that the staff, while many were off on a "cancer challenge" with the neighboring towns, have been beyond helpful from getting some laundry done, to getting us a taxi when most drivers were off on Sunday. I really wanted a Bloody Mary and the staff hurriedly ran out to the market to get some tomato juice to make me one. I can't say enough about the hospitality.

Yelp
Clew Bay Hotel is a family owned property in the center of Westport. The rooms are of varying sizes, we stayed in 108, which is lovely king room overlooking the river. It was very quiet. The hotel has been through major renovations over the past years. The layout is a bit quirky as is the case with many of the older hotels, but honestly, that makes it far more interesting than staying in a corporate chain hotel, where every room is the same as the next and there is not much character to the place. The hotel is within easy walking distance of restaurants, pubs, and shops, which is a huge plus as Westport is a popular destination and becomes very busy especially during the summer season. The original Clew Bay Hotel opened in 1959, the current rendition bears no similarities to the original other than the warm hospitality. However, I would avoid rooms overlooking James Street. The room rate is very reasonable and includes a full breakfast served in the dining room overlooking the river. They also offer free wifi, parking is 3 Euro per day in the lot behind the hotel however one evening we were lucky to get a space at 6 pm, so assume there are other car parks around town. You can purchase the parking pass at reception.
