Clico Boutique Hotel and Restaurant

We only stayed one night but the service from start to finish was fantastic. Easy and friendly airport transfer from Dan. The room is lovely, spacious and clean. We dined in the restaurant and had the tasting menu. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were so attentive, especially Vince. They spoke us through each course, checked in afterwards and asked when we would be ready for the next course. Food was truly great- 5 courses pictures attached. Definitely recommend! Didn’t walk around the area too much so can’t comment on that, but love the security outside.

Beautiful space, welcoming team and amazing food made for a great romantic staycation. The attention to detail, and the service is top notch. Highly recommend!

I would love to be able to rate this hotel, but unfortunately was unable to stay there due to extreme flight delays. When I called to see if I could adjust my booking the receptionist was incredibly rude and short with me. I recognize it’s not their fault, but a sympathetic response would have been appreciated. Additionally, when I asked when the GM would be available, I was not provided with an answer and instead told there was nothing they could do. After all of the lovely reviews I expected better. Enjoy my booking fee Clico.

Was quite surprised to have found this hidden gem, came during the week so the place was nice and quiet with a few tables. We opted for both tasting menus, the dishes were all very unique and delicious. Service from the waiter was great and very attentive. Definitely need to go back to try the pizza and pasta on their menu.

Everything was perfect from the moment they welcomed us until we checked out. My husband and I would like to commend Peggy and the security guard (sorry, I was not able to get his name) for being attentive, thoughtful and helpful. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. We loved our room. Peggy ensured that our breakfast was packed because we had to leave very early on our last day.

Our family of 3 and my friends family recently stayed 2 nights in three different rooms (with a gap of one week) on our trip to Africa. Clico Hotel staff were very communicative and helped us arrange travel to the hotel from the airport. They also let us rest in a room since we got there very early (7AM) and before the regular check in time. We were impressed by the delicious breakfast and also the restaurant in general. The staff were kind and very attentive and tolerant of the kids. There were a couple of small issues: the safe didn't work (out of batteries) and one of the rooms didn't have a bathroom door. Other things to be aware of (that are not hotel issues) include: mosquitos - they're definitely around and there are no nets; and the neighborhood. While Rosebank is upscale and we walked around during the day, we tried to walk to a restaurant a block away and got accosted and scammed by fake security people just around sunset.

Due to circumstances we stayed 1,5 week (in 3 different rooms) at Clico Boutique. And it was fantastic. If you like a hotel that has warmth, colour, personality and atmosphere ... a hotel that even sort of feels like home, and where experience is excellent: don't hesistate to book at Clico. Personnel is fantastic (kind, interested, helpful and flexible), the food amazing. If you want to eat somewhere else, you'll find multiple good restaurants within less than a mile. The beds slept very good. And the interior of hotel and (bath)rooms gave me inspiration for decorating my own home. In short: we loved all of it!

Sec Restaurant Review: Sec Restaurant at Clico is without doubt the best food in Johannesburg currently! We were simply blown away by Dario de Angeli's newest food adventure. It was truly difficult to pick a favourite dish as they were all simply outstanding, but the Pork Belly, Dashi Salmon, Milanese Risotto and Caprese Salad were notable dishes! Being a party of four people, we ordered four small starter dishes (which we didn’t intend sharing but was simply too good not to), and four main dishes to share. This was ample food and left us room only for one PB & J dessert to share. Well done, Chef!
