Before I start with the good, for all the people who are bringing dogs, we were so excited this place is dog friendly, but be AWARE there is a dog off leash on the property, very sweet to the humans but will start a confrontation with your leashed dog and won't even look at you when you try to get the dog to not approach your dog. He was very aggressive and I feared our dog could possibly be injured. I am a dog person, and think it is sweet you have your dog roaming the property, loved the "don't feed the wildlife" poster of the dog, but if he is aggressive toward other animals, you really shouldn't advertise as being pet friendly. It is a very dangerous situation for pet owners. Our dog did not start this, we were just walking back to our room when the property dog followed and tried to have it in with our dog. And as for potty breaks, very small areas for your dog to go to the bathroom, unless you walk around the corner and cross the main street to the trail, there are very minimal spaces for your dog go. They do provide doggy bags outside, but people still don't pick up afterr their dog, so I was doing poop pick up for others.
The area is busy because it is a small mountain town with a venue that has shows almost daily. The parking lot is tiny, so if you show up with a big truck like we did, be aware there is minimal parking, but they did have a spot in back (right next to the dog, so it was sort of inconvenient to walk our dog to our vehicle with a possible aggressive dog.)
The sound thing is obvious being by the Red Rock venue, you are going to hear whatever show is going on, but what I didn't expect is you can hear the crowds cheering more then the music that is being played live. The road noise is pretty active at all hours as well. And the last of the bad, was the extension cord running the length of the cabin being a complete eyesore. We believe it was because the air conditioner couldn't be run on the same circuits as other things in this old charming building, but If we are paying that much for a room, that should be taken care of by a proper electrician.
Now for the good: cute, historic lodgings. I am a sucker for historic places. Super friendly staff, breakfast included, tranport to Red rock. Plenty of options for food nearby, but since it is a tourist town with a venue, you will pay a little more.
The bathtub was fit for a king or queen, the best part of the cottage. The decor was whimsy and on point for the theme of the room. The bed was comfortable and the place was really clean. The shower is huge, but could of used a door to keep things warmer. We appreciated the late check out since we had later appointments in town we had to make. It was exactly as pictured and a sweet little retreat for my birthday. Glad we got to experience this place, but don't think we will be paying for a room here again for the price, they need to pay attention to details a bit more. The dog issue is the big kicker that took the review down stars, no matter how charming it was, as our dog means so much to us and we don't want our dog having the chance of getting injured anywhere we bring him.
