"The Cliff House Maine, which has welcomed guests since 1872, has truly mastered the art of staying busy even in the off season. This winter, the resort offers a “Snow Globe” outdoor dining experience, as well as resident artist–taught painting classes, performances by visiting Broadway talent, and more."

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? Just a few steps in front door and you're confronted with the hotel's raison d'être: the jaw-dropping cliffs. Framed by epic floor-to-ceiling windows, they dominate the lobby, tumbling down from the resort's perch down to the crashing ocean waves. The rest of Cliff House has more perfectly placed windows, minimalist (read: not lobster traps and seashells) nautical decor, and a drop-dead gorgeous shore view from the infinity pool. What's the backstory? Built in 1872 on Bald Head Cliff, it was created and run by the Weare family, who by the early 1900s had turned it into a retreat for prominent East Coast families. During World War II the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers took over the property and built a radar station, using its coastal vantage point to keep watch for Nazi subs. It was sold by the family in 2014 to Rockbridge hotel investment firm, undergoing a massive renovation and expansion before it reopened in 2016. The result was not just the addition of myriad luxuries, but a modern design that included about 46,000 square feet of pine reclaimed from homes in Maine. Tell us all about your room. Any tips on what to book? My Coastal View King was in keeping with the rest of the resort's quiet coastal cool aesthetic. Navy buffalo check bedding beneath the Cuddledown comforters here, subtle striping on drapes and carpets there. Bathrooms are laid out in clean-lines and Red Flower amenities, and the sculptural furniture is top notch. But just as in the lobby, the real star is outside the room's window, where the Atlantic Ocean does its thing with waves crashing or lapping, gulls crying, and breezes soothing beneath your private terrace. Given my druthers and a sky's-the-limit budget, I'd come back and stay at one of the ultra-luxurious ground-floor suites or in the hotel's private cabin. (I mean really, who wouldn't?) Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? There is no charge, and it's excellent. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Two very different restaurants at the resort serve two very different purposes. The first, The Tiller, is the fancier of the two. Its modern-meets-nautical, cushy design is anchored by a double fireplace and overlooks the cliffs from on high. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here, and they spotlight ingredients from as many local farms as the kitchen can get its hands on. The Tiller also has snacks throughout the day at the hoppin' and spacious bar. But the real focus is on dinner, when the tables fill up for lovelies like clam belly toast with uni butter; ethereal seared scallops with lobster friend rice; and lobster panzanella salad. The second restaurant, Nubb's Lobster Shack, lives up to its name. Order food at the counter and separately at the bar for adult beverages, and find a table in the industrial-seaport looking dining room, out on the patio overlooking the sweeping garden and ocean, or take your spoils to a chaise by the abutting pool. Either way, you'll be digging into some superlative casual grub: avocado- and sesame-laden tuna poke bowls; lobster grilled cheese on sourdough; and fried local oysters are all standouts. And the service? It's gosh-near impossible to find a hiccup in service at The Cliff House, and when one does, it's corrected without a second thought. Check-in couldn't be more efficient (call ahead and the front desk staff will do whatever they can to have your room ready before the official check-in time), and check-out has become entirely virtual, via text. Request additional Red Flower shampoo or body moisturizer (Trust me, you'll crave more after you try it once.) or extra towels, and you will promptly receive. Room service is fast to deliver, slow to get frustrated by unusual requests, and the pool and spa staffs take great care with everything from clean-up and massages to cuticle trimming. What type of travelers will you find here? The resort opened in 1872 and enjoyed a mix of Mainers and visitors from all over the Eastern region. The same applies these days, although now there's also a healthy dose of European and West Coast tourists thrown in. Some are young families with designer-dressed kids in tow; some are privacy-seeking, hand-holding couples; others still are gaggles of moms on a spa getaway. All love the combination offered here: natural beauty, excellent service, and the style-conscious yet unpretentious atmosphere. What about the neighborhood? What else is around? The resort sits on its own, 70-acre property on Bald Head Cliff, outside (but not far from) downtown Ogunquit. Any other hotel features worth noting? The spa should really get its due: The space (gloriously perched above the frothy ocean waves, with relaxation room windows overlooking them) is world-class. From the flowing staircase and fountain beneath it to the imaginative boutique and cosseting treatments, it's easily one of the most compelling reasons to book a stay here. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? It is, without a doubt, worth it. The combination of local Maine culture and front-and-center appreciation of nature, met with superb service and food, is difficult not to look back on as a place to go back to repeatedly."

"Cliff House, in Cape Neddick, Maine, sits on a jagged bluff overlooking the wild Atlantic Ocean. A waterfront room is essential, though not nearly as essential as leaving the room to spend an afternoon at the on-site spa. Using products with ingredients sourced from the ocean outside your window, the treatments offered in the 9,000-square-foot wellness center — scrubs, wraps, HydraFacials, cupping, a dozen different massages — can help relieve tension, calm the mind, and soothe your wind-chapped skin." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We had an incredible experience at Cliff House!! We went for our baby moon & truly felt pampered, relaxed, and so happy! The views are incredible, the room was immaculate, and the staff was so helpful & kind. We also did a private oil painting class that was such an unforgettable experience!! Our instructor, Ric, taught in a way that anyone - including people with limited artistic ability like me and my husband - could produce a really impressive oil painting! Highly recommend!! We already can’t wait to come back!

OBSESSED with the spa here. Insanely beautiful. The sanctuary room is INCREDIBLE. Also had the best massage of my life last week with either Quinn or Gwen (my bad I didn’t catch the correct name!). Loved the sauna and the overall experience. Had the best time. The massage therapist was so kind, listened and did exactly what I asked, she didn’t use fragrances as I am allergic, and was very accommodating. Overall 10/10 recommend. Especially Quinn or Gwen, the best massage therapist I’ve had!

Our trip to Cliff House during Memorial Day weekend was wonderful. The hotel caters to guests and everyone greets you with a smile. The room we had in the Ledges section had amazing views of the crashing ocean waves. The outdoor hot tub was invigorating and we also swam in the indoor pool. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were like sleeping on clouds. The grounds were perfectly manicured and all facilities were very clean. The hotel robes were iconic and comfortable and many guests were seen with their robes around the fire pits. Nancy White, the managing director sets the standard for a 5 star rating. Every positive attribute in the hotel runs from her leadership. Austin Bixler, reservation manager makes the stay that much more rewarding. They both cater to the guests and make you feel like family. In all we had a most pleasurable stay and can't wait to be pampered again in the future.

Overall, an amazing resort! The location is incredible - the sound of the ocean and the beautiful cliffs are so serene. The spa is perfection - from the amenities themselves to the massage. Had the MOST relaxing morning there. Room (deluxe ocean view) was spacious and comfortable for 3 adults. Staff so friendly and accommodating. |Only real complaint was our dinner at Tiller. Subpar food for the price. Okay service but after a screw-up in the kitchen, there wasn’t a huge amount of making up to it. I’d not eat there again. The Terrace Bar and the coffee shop were all good.|Can’t wait to go back.

I really don’t know where to begin with this amazing resort. We were there with a group of the top agents in our state… It was a recognition trip for them (with spouses). The resort is absolutely breathtaking. There are so many touches there that make it unique. I love the (glass) bottled water in the rooms, the turndown service, the binoculars in the rooms, the drink stations on every floor, & the slippers & robes! we ate at both Tillers and Nubbs and both were outstanding. Shout out for all the many gluten-free options ! We also frequented the hot tub and the fire pit areas. The bald head coffee shop was fantastic and had tons of breakfast options. Our room had a fireplace as well. Simply gorgeous!!

We had a wonderful and enjoyable stay during our 3 night stay beginning June 25th. The hotel and its facilities are outstanding and very relaxing-the adult pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean is beautiful with plenty of chairs and staff to assist you-We have been to the Cliff House in all seasons and always have a great time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great resort!

As a wedding photographer, I get the opportunity to work with many venues each year for weddings. The Cliff House truly stands out! This venue is truly on the side of a cliff which is a dramatic and romantic backdrop for couple photos. The cliffs offer an iconic Maine backdrop for any wedding. The smell of the salty air is truly unmatched. The open patio area for cocktail hour is also a hit with guests. The outdoor ceremony site is one of the most beautiful backdrops for a ceremony I have experienced. I am so honored to have worked here over the past few years and to have photographed this beautiful place to be married.

We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary at Cliff House. Such a wonderful place to celebrate this milestone. The hotel is gorgeous and the view of the cliffs is just breathtaking. We were given a corner room so we woke up to that beautiful ocean view all around us every morning. |The Tiller restaurant was amazing. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We sampled an incredible lobster roll at Nubbs Lobster Shack for lunch. Our favorite spot was the Tidemark Lounge . Live music, signature drinks, comfy seating, stone fireplace, and did I mention the view?!! |Most importantly though was the excellent service at Cliff House. The concierge was so helpful and gave us great recommendations before and during our stay. The servers at the Tidemark Lounge greeted us like old friends and remembered our preferences. And Josie at the gift shop was so helpful. ( sorry I didn’t get everyone’s names!) Everyone made us feel so special.|This is truly a unique resort. Thank you everyone at Cliff House. We can’t wait to see you again!

Yelp
A relaxing retreat. We splurged on an oceanfront cliff room, and it was absolutely worth it. The stunning views of the cliffs and the soothing sound of crashing waves all day made the experience unforgettable. The adult pool area is a unique oasis--everyone was quietly napping or unwinding. The pool attendants are attentive, setting you up with a chair cover and towel. There's no loud music or disruptive conversations, making it a perfect spot to relax. The 13+ age restriction is a great touch, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, while kids can enjoy their own separate pool. A thoughtful hydration station is available on every floor, offering water and Keurig coffee, which is a nice perk. While it is on the pricier side, as most resorts are, sometimes you truly get what you pay for.

Yelp
We booked the cliff house to see the fall colors. The reviews were mixed, but it looked beautiful, so we decided to keep the reservation. The area is stunning and driving around in this area, you get the whole new England experience. The quaint town of Ogunquit is close by. The rooms for us were clean and the balcony was amazing. We kept our doors open all night to enjoy the white noise of the waves. The spa was very nice and enjoyed the sanctuary area when people weren't talking. The jacuzzi outside had great views and we were able to enjoy the pool as a "cold plunge" of sorts. We also enjoyed the beautiful rocks to sit and listen to the waves, or do a bit of yoga. The beverage center in each way was genius. What we didn't like was the lack of activities or even long walking trails in the area. We didn't even attempt to eat at the restaurants here because of what reviewers said. It was also super irritating to not have all sections connected, ie, as people mentioned, you are at the pool and they had the passageway closed. There was no link from the spa to the pool and you had to walk all the way around. It was a weird set up. Our first day, I called for housekeeping since it was after 330 pm and they hadn't come by, and we had to call twice to have a few items dropped off. Each day we called to make sure they came by when we would be out of the room. It seems like a spot like this shouldn't have those issues.

Yelp
Summary: My wife and I stayed here for four days and while the views were gorgeous and the service great, for close to 1k a night we feel it did not meet expectations in the cleanliness department. We would recommend staying elsewhere and visiting the restaurant if you want to enjoy the views. Pros: Service - everyone was friendly and accommodating Food - breakfast at the Tiller and ice cream at Nubb's were highlights Views - incredible, this is what you're paying for Spa - a bit crowded (especially the locker area) but overall worth the splurge. The sanctuary room is gorgeous and the therapists did an excellent job with our massages Cons: Cleanliness - for the price, I expect a certain standard of cleanliness and upkeep. Our bathroom paint was peeling and cracked near the sink, the patio off our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile, there were stains on the ottoman, some of the leather furniture in the lobby was cracked and appeared dirty, and the indoor pool looked like it needed a good scrub. Other reviewers posted pictures of the grime and we can say those pics are accurate. We stayed at a Holiday Inn in NH last year and the pool there was SO much nicer and cleaner. -The ramp leading from the outdoor pool section to the lobby was closed off necessitating walking the long way around anytime we wanted to get to our room from the pool area. This may not seem like a big deal, but with a pregnant wife, it added up to a lot of discomfort for her over the course of the week.

Yelp
Beautiful room and amazing ocean view! Love free drinks bar in the hallway. Restaurants were great too. Breakfast on the balcony was delicious. For a very expensive place to stay, I would expect the wifi to work, but it wasn't anywhere inside the building so you can't really do work if needed.

Yelp
A hotel that should be great, except that it isnt. Cliff House is a beautiful property with nice grounds and a great layout. Some parts are great. The lobby and public areas are very comfy with great bar service. The bartender was extremely friendly and her service was great. The live music they brought in was excellent and made for a great evening experience. Hotel valet parking was great as well. The spa is wonderful, with a great attentive staff. All of this greatness is offset by the terrible restaurant (Tiller) and the room. First the room. Our $750/night coastal view room was right over a 24x7 ventilation system for the restaurant that you could hear even with sliding door closed. It made the little patio useless. I get that price during season, but its October. Also the bathroom sink had hot and hot running water. The Tiller restaurant is a disaster. First off , we had breakfast there where my wifes order was messed up. She brought it to the attention of the server who basically ignored her. No compensation for the mistake. That night, we decided to go back since we were tired and didn't want to leave the hotel. My wife ordered a burger and truffle fries. The fries came plain, when brought to the servers attention she said the menu says regular fries. We asked for the menu and it said truffle fries. Again no apology and no comp. I ordered a 2 lb lobster at "market price". What was served was a small tail and two claws about half the size of the 1.5 lb one I had for lunch that day. Market price came back on the check at $110!!!! This is ridiculous even for a resort. We will not be back. Save your money, there are better places to be had in the area.

Yelp
My husband and I just had a fantastic honeymoon at Cliff House! I think we possibly picked the best weekend to visit - most of the time, we had the pool or hot tub to ourselves! We splurged on an ocean view room and it was seriously breath taking. We saw some stunning sunrises and sunsets right from the comfort of our balcony! This was truly one of the best resorts I've visited, even better than some on the islands. We had a great dinner at The Tiller our first night there (visit their specific page for my full review on them), and we appreciated the staff's attention to detail welcoming us to our honeymoon. Our room was clean and we loved the nightly turn down service and daily treats left for us. They went above and beyond, even folding our clothes! If I had one critique, the AC vent was directly across from my side of the bed and it was FREEZING! We had it set to 68 the first night and it never shut off once and was also quite noisy. If you turned it to anything above 68, the heat kicked on and that wasn't comfortable either. Eventually we found it was better to just shut the AC off completely at night, which made for a quieter night anyways, and you could hear the waves crashing if you went on the balcony with it off. The two outdoor pools and hot tubs were very clean and were always at a perfect temperature. We had lunch from Nubb's one day by the pool and it was just what we needed. Though we left the resort to explore the local cuisine a lot, you definitely could spend your whole vacation at the resort without having to leave before of their numerous amenities. We definitely hope to return someday and are so grateful we found this spot for our honeymoon!

Carla Jayne R.

Yelp
Beautiful accommodations and spectacular views at the Cliff house. The summer season doesn't really begin until July 1, so some things were not available to us. And the summer pool was not yet open. But the staff is friendly and helpful, in many cases going above and beyond. A wonderful place for a special occasion.

Craig C.

Yelp
Beautiful views Very expensive Host were all very friendly Bed was extremely comfortable Overall an amazing experience

D W.

Yelp
Expensive But breathtaking We came for cocktails and Hector is a fabulous bartender Only problem is we wanted to sit in the lobby and enjoy our cocktails while looking out at the spectacular view....ALL the furniture in the lobby was filthy as well as the carpets! Shocking The other patrons staying there said they were going to complain to the manager. All of this should have been cleaned prior to Memorial Weekend!

Richard M.

Yelp
We can't speak highly enough about our experience at the Cliff house. From the moment we pulled up until the moment we left we had the most incredible time at our stay. The venue, the rooms, the service, the live music, all impeccable. Every staff member was friendly from the moment we got to the reception desk. We especially enjoyed Ross McGinnis live music every night. We enjoy the live music each night between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Breakfast at the teller house was amazing. The spa looked fantastic, but we did not indulge in any of the services. However, we will next time we are there and there will be a next time. The rooms were luxurious. The beds were comfortable, and the TV was huge, which impressed my wife very much. What a great ed Ross McGinnis live music every night. We look forward to returning to Cliff House and shared our experience with all of our friends looking for a great destination in Maine

Yelp
You get a run around when you call. No human answering calls or questions. If the service is bad to book a room, it must be terrible when you're there.

Sam S.

Yelp
A great venue for a family get together or wedding. Beautiful architecture offers multiple vantage points of the ocean. Big fireplaces, comfy chairs , floor to ceiling windows for the views, a pool, and hot tubs to (LL Bean) boot.

Derrick S.

Yelp
Beautiful property, welcoming staff, EV charging and EXCELLENT massage therapists! My problematic shoulders and knees submitted to their touch. After our massage, we sat in the relaxation room and stared at the Atlantic Ocean and witnessed our 1st moonrise. Sorry, no pictures of that...some things must be experienced 1st hand!

Abigail I.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to stay here to celebrate our 5 yr anniversary. It was a smooth short drive from Boston and was instantly relaxed as we walked in. It also helped that they start prepping your stay a week before you even get there - making it personalized and make you feel extra special. We stayed at the Ledges for the oceanfront room. We got to see the sunrise which was lovely and enjoyed the sunset whilst at the spa area. It was a low-key, luxe experience for R+R (romance and relaxation). We thoroughly and highly recommend our couples massage; shout out to my girl Ally for a wonderful massage - from getting all the knots out and to the mud hair mask I absolutely loved, to the kind and sweet Miss Rose for the wonderful customer service, and to Sandra for helping me find the mud mask to take home with me - got the last one that day. You can dress up or just walk around with their robes (which was cute). Food was good, not great but we really loved the selections at Nubb's. Also enjoyed the yummy coffees and pastries at the cafe. The staff were all so friendly, happy and helpful. We are already talking about coming back for our bday months and during the summer season.

Karen P.

Yelp
There's a reason The Cliff House receives so many 5 star reviews: it's awesome from start to finish. The hotel is spotless, the attention to detail amazing (in room air purifiers weren't lost on me!), the views astounding and the overall ocean chic vibe is wonderful! We stayed two nights in the dead of winter in late January and enjoyed two stunning sunrises and the bonus of a bright sunny unseasonably warm days! Our room was located in the Ledges wing ( best for sunrise over the ocean). We arrived several hours before checkin and our room was ready( big points here). Self parking was the only option and it can be a haul with luggage so we used a bellman (shout out to Victor) who was so welcoming and informative, giving us a few extra tips for an enjoyable first visit. Ledges is located farthest from reception , the awesome main gathering area with a wall of ocean front windows, a beautiful fireplace and many seating options to enjoy the view. An underground passage featuring photos of Cliffhouse through the years and a gallery of local art makes the trek easy especially in winter. There is a movie theatre tucked in the passage showing family rated movies twice a day. There is an indoor pool option as well as a year round large outdoor hot tub ( guests 13 and older) overlooking the ocean. The hot tub is busy... maybe too busy but you'll opt to give it a try for just the view alone. Robes and slippers are provided In each room. There are igloos overlooking the Atlantic near the hot tub as well as a large firepit with Adirondack gliders. In winter, dining options include the Tiller with its " killer" views and Nubbs, a more informal option as well as in room dining. We enjoyed cocktails at sunset in Tiller which also serves as the lobby bar and can get quite busy if hotel is busy. Weekend evenings, there is live music , a crowd pleasing duo this weekend featured a vocalist and guitarist playing hits from the late 60s-80s. Beds were comfy, shower pressure great and a " beverage station" located on each floor with tea, coffee, as well as still and sparking water(loved those tiny ice cubes). Staff throughout the hotel was first rate. The Cliff House is a fabulous choice for a special celebration (thanks for the birthday treats for my hubby) no matter what time of year! Winter rates are lower and some nights have no minimum stay required. We will be back!

Sue S.

Yelp
Stunning! If you are looking for epic views in this area, I highly recommend! I have been here several times for drinks and once for dinner at The Tiller restaurant. The menu at the The Tiller is fairly gluten-free, dairy- free and vegan friendly, but the staff are incredibly helpful, supportive and willing to help adapt dishes to your needs. You will have options! I recommend a salad and the Paella (vegan and GF already)! I recommend calling ahead for recommendations from the host for apps and salads. The staff and ambiance are spectacular! Make sure to book online or call ahead for reservations as they do book up quickly!

Yelp
What a great experience from the moment we pulled up with our vehicle until the moment we checked out. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights (Wed-Mon) and enjoyed our view of the ocean and the many boats that passed by while we sat on our balcony. The room was clean, updated, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything in the room worked to perfection.....air conditioner, tv, safe, shower, toilet. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did a great job keeping our room fully stocked with linens. We loved the turndown service in the evening, especially the chocolates left on the night stand. We had dinner and brunch at the Tiller restaurant and enjoyed having a drinks listening to the nightly musicians by the big stone fireplace. The Cliff House is located 8-10 minutes from downtown Ogunquit. There was valet parking as well as self parking. We chose the self parking. My wife and I used the gym on the 2nd floor on a couple of occasions. Very modern bikes, treadmills, nautilus equipment, free weights, and mats. The best hotel gym we've seen thus far. While you work out, there is a great view of the ocean. My wife spent many hours at the pool while I read near the fire pit. The pool setting was gorgeous and overlooked the ocean. Plenty of seating and servers to make your stay comfortable. We enjoyed each night going to the Maine Station which was located on every floor. The Maine Station had complimentary coffee, tea, water, apples, and ice. This station was available 24 hours a day. There was a very warm and cozy vibe with the Cliff House. Nicely decorated, fireplaces, beautiful tables and chairs to relax on. This is a great place for couples to relax and get away without the kids. Is the Cliff House expensive? Yes. Did it meet our expectations? Yes. It exceeded them. You only live once and you don't want to be the richest guy at the cemetery. We will be back!

P C.

Yelp
Disappointing at best, the balcony noise was so bad you couldn't hear the ocean. Don't stay in the main hotel.

Rachel B.

Yelp
We love the Cliff House! Been going there for years! The food and service is impeccable. That being said It pains me to write this. We came up early Labor Day weekend for breakfast and a spa treatment. We told the front desk we were here knowing full well the room would not be ready. However to our surprise the associate said "We are working on your room now!" Great, I thought it should be ready when I'm done my spa treatment. At 12:30 I checked with them and got the same answer. Ok I thought Odd it takes 2 hours to clean the room but things happen, Right? At 1:30 we were told it's not guaranteed until 4:00... I totally understand that but what does we are working on the room mean???? When we were able to check in we were told our room was over in the far building by Nubbs on the 6th Floor. We gave our room # to the Valet he said "no your room is in the main building we will bring you." What is going on? I wish they told us at 10:30 or 12:30 your room won't be ready until closer to 4:00 today (not they are working on it). Just be honest! The whole thing is just so out of character for this establishment.

This hotel is so relaxing, simply said its beautiful. The staff is friendly and the amenities are endless. Just driving there down the windy road was fun experience. Just bring your smile and your wallet.

Yelp
Typically stay down the street and come to the Cliff house for a drink and it's always worth coming. The view is stunning and beautiful inside and out. Small bar menu but perfect for what you need with friendly staff

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed here a few times now. Until now I thought it was among the best hotels I've stayed at. But this time it is clear that things are in need of some significant repair. Room air conditioners are VERY noisy. Worse, our room had a badly leaking shower. They scheduled a fix at 10 am, but it wasn't fixed until 4:30 pm--we couldn't use the room for most of a day. This place is expensive and they didn't offer so much as a free drink ticket. They have also closed off one entrance to the pool area, which means that many guests have to walk all the way around the hotel to access the pool. It just seems awkward and unnecessary, given the expense to guests. The restaurant is good, but not great. Ate there twice and both times our wine came well after our main courses. Ordered a chicken dish that was WAY over brined and seemed as though it had been prepared earlier and reheated. So I want to love Cliff House (the views are amazing) but I don't think I'll be back any time soon.

Yelp
There's something naturally romantic about staying at a hotel dramatically way up at the top of a cliff. And The Cliff House (Hotel) is exactly that. It's surrounded by an incredible ocean, jaw-dropping scenery that has to be seen to be believed. Grounds are immaculate, the hotel itself is modern with Nautical accents indoors. We didn't stay here during our short Ogunquit trip, but this clifftop hotel looks like it can dial up the romance factor to a ridiculously high level man- in my opinion. This place is huge. Surrounded by glass. Just glass- giving you the most intense view of the Atlantic. The hotel has nice style- not sure if housekeeping is taking care of all the dust perched up on their ceiling lamps by their elevators- but rooms seem elevated. FYI- Employees all wore masks and there are visible floor indicators throughout. Listen...with these reviews, I'm not sure if guests seem to find this hotel well worth its considerable price tag. But those views man.

Yelp
Hands down my FAVORITE place to stay in Maine! That's it. That's the review. That and some amazing photos that speak for themselves.

Yelp
This place is way over rated. Completely money gouging for what you get. Rooms are clean but super small. AC is extremely loud. Food and service is mediocre. We paid over 1,000 dollars a night and the room was like a box. The service was really bad to the point we had to ask for things multiple times before we received. The food was horrible and cold. McDonald's would've been better. Only thing going for this place was the scenery. There's nothing for kids or toddlers to do when the weather is bad. No play areas no changing table in the bathroom. No room service and they harass you with text messages stating you can't bring outside alcohol Beverages to your room. We requested a crib and was told it would be in our room upon arrival and set up. That didn't happen. We asked for one when we arrived 3 times. Then housekeeping told us that they were out and only could provide pack n plays. ( when I called to confirm two days before our stay) Upside the concierge ended up getting us one and taking care of it with another vendor. We still were not happy with how the evening went. Couldn't get into the restaurant and when we did they gave us a high table with a high chair that my son couldn't even eat his cold dinner properly in. Which we had to ask for a high chair 4 times. Just a joke with all the money you spend. Should've been better accommodations and service. We ended up leaving after one night and loosing out on our vacation as well as lots of money. But just wasn't worth it!

Yelp
LOCATION....LOCATION....LOCATION. It is an amazing location and the "entire" hotel staff were super friendly. Perfect romantic get away! My only complaint is our room location.... we were in 433S. That room and rooms; 432, 431, 430 and 429 all look out to the ocean except there is a patio area that is directly in front of these rooms. I would most certainly come back but I would make sure to request a different room. The pool area is nice and we enjoyed it. It's right next to Nubb's Restaurant which has some good food & drinks and it wasn't too expensive compared to the cost of the hotel room. They have a great walking path around the hotel which measures a 1/2 mile and it's the perfect way to start your day. If you want to play golf, there is the Cape Neddick Golf Course literally across the street from the entrance to the hotel or if you prefer, you can travel 20 minutes to play The Ledges Golf Course which was a nice layout in York Maine. My wife enjoyed the Spa immensely getting a massage and a manicure & pedicure. Overall highly recommend the Cliff House.... We had an amazing stay! VERY EXPENSIVE though.

Yelp
Updated review: after speaking to the manager who was very grateful we shared our concerns, they offered us a new room and a dinner credit. This made up for disappointment. We know places are short staffed due to the pandemic I just thought this place would've been a higher caliber than what we found.

Yelp
The food, staff and atmosphere were great. It was pricey for our everyday kind of outing but perfect for a celebration. The calamari was the best I've ever had.

Yelp
Was visiting family nearby and had an 80 minute massage booked for me. I'm typically a little apprehensive with "resort" massages - and an 80 minute one could have been terrible. Then I met Cindy. Holy crow. The 80 minutes flew by. She was fantastic. Well trained, readily identified and resolved problem areas; left feeling like a million bucks! Best massage I have ever had! You can bet when I go back to Maine, I'll be booking another 80 minutes with Cindy.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to review the Cliff House because I don't want word to get out. This resort is situated in a beautiful, unique location with amazing views. Most of the rooms have a dramatic view overlooking the coast. I have spent hours on our rooms balcony watching the ocean. We stayed in Ogunquit for a few years before discovering this place. It's an order of magnitude nicer than the other resorts. It's also more expensive. The pool, the view from the restaurant, the fire pit and the cliff walk are all terrific. The rooms and property are very well maintained with none of the casual shabbiness often found in seaside hotels. The staff are very nice. The beds are comfy, the showers and HVAC are great. There are Keurig coffee and water stations distributed throughout the hotel. This is my family's happy place. We have been visiting at least annually. If you are staying nearby, consider a meal at the Tiller, the onsite restaurant. The view is to die for. It's more expensive than average around here, but it's a great way to get a taste of the Cliff House experience. Not to be missed if it's within your budget.

Yelp
Cliff House is such a beautiful resort on the coast of Maine. The property is large and has an indoor passage to travel between the main lobby and parts of the resort so it will be useful during the colder months. Cliff House has cruise-like vibes where there are activities that guests can partake in complementary as well as paid activities. I was there a few weeks ago and there were paid painting classes which I thought was pretty cool. I tried out the complimentary yoga class which was really nice! I got lucky since there was only 1 other student so it was almost like a private class! The yoga class took place in the small room in front of the windows with a beautiful view of the ocean and foliage. There are nice Manduka mats for guests to use so you don't have to bring your own. Other cool things about this resort include some beautiful art work for sale, a spa, gym, indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis, and movie theater. The gym had really nice equipment with some free weights, standard machines and pelotons. You can do an easy walk from the resort down the cliffs and go on the rocks. Super beautiful location! Another thing we enjoyed were the robes! They were super comfy and soft. Cliff House is super close to downtown Ogunquit so it's very convenient if you are exploring. Loved my experience here!

Yelp
The place is gorgeous It was a rough start the beginning Everybody short staff in these crazy times but the hotel manager Shirin made it nice Went up and beyond Definitely recommend She is asset to the hotel. It makes the Hotel feel like a friendly And people care

Yelp
This resort deserves a five star rating based on the amazing view, room, amenities, service (everyone was so helpful and friendly), and the entire property! I feel bad for the low ratings because they had subpar food at the restaurant. Honestly, (and no offense to Cliff House), we don't eat at restaurants in places like these. We know better to not be disappointed --unless of course its Vegas where the restaurants are the destination or if we've read that the food there has had excellent reviews. My husband and I celebrated my birthday dinner yesterday and drove 5 minutes away from the hotel to a nice restaurant. We also had lobster at a couple of different lobster shacks and/or casual restaurants nearby. Wells and Ogunquit are fun towns! I understand that some people do expect to have an all in one experience since it's not an inexpensive resort. However, we chose to eat at different restaurants with great food and got to experience the town and then go home to a pretty fabulous suite in an amazing property --reminds you of the West Coast / Pacific Northwest. Wonderful stay at the Cliff House!

Yelp
At our recent stay at The Cliff House we were very disappointed. First of all, the customer service was lacking; we booked a couple's massage four months before our arrival, we received email confirmation only to find when we arrived they had double booked and would not honor the confirmed appointment, nor did they offer us any additional resolution. Later we went to the indoor pool, I have attached photos of the absolute filthy environment. There was a thick ring of dead skin around the inside of the hot tub, trash and mildew in the shower and entrance of the pool. We are frequent travelers and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I have included photos.

Yelp
How can anyone say anything bad about this establishment? It's simply breathtaking and phenomenal. We stayed at Cliff House during a weekend in June for my birthday. It was booked as a surprise by my fiancée. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, I was blown away!! The view was something out of a movie with enchanting cliffs and rustling gorgeous blue and white waves crashing, and an array of fire pits, jacuzzis, pools, classic adirondack chairs and gorgeous interior decor. There is attentive and capable staff covering every inch of the hotel at all times offering guests towels, drinks, food, etc. they ensure you feel taken care of at all times. We arrived extremely early - around 9am and to our delight, they were so accommodating that they let us check into our room! That's unheard of at almost any other hotel.....Our room was in perfect condition and everything in it was lovely and the view from our room was picturesque. It's an expensive place to stay, but worth every penny. The bed sheets are so soft and luxurious and the pillows were super comfy as well. There was a stand directly outside our room stocked with coffee offerings with fresh local milk, still water, and sparkling water, and the hotel provided us with slippers and soft robes too. How much more comfortable and relaxed could we feel?! In the evening, when you come into your room, they leave chocolates, postcards and mood music to help you relax and feel welcome. My only complaint is that some of the walls in our hotel room were scuffed up pretty badly and there at a few lamp shades with stains on them - for the price you pay to stay here, the room should be impeccable, so I suggest they re-paint the walls and replace the lamp shades prior to guests arriving. Other than that, this will be one of the best places you've ever stayed and you won't want to leave the premises because the view of the water and cliffs from the hotel is breathtaking...you'll feel like you're in Greece or Ireland or somewhere else...it's just splendid and spectacular in every way.

Yelp
Wow x 5...... I could post photos from my phone but no photo would do justice to the views and decor. My wife and I found this resort from a travel article and decided to visit during Thanksgiving. Loved the location, the evening ambience around several fireplaces, the treatment from staff and the nearby shops and restaurants in York and Ogunquit. Also not a bad drive to Portsmouth or Kennebunkport. Comfortable rooms and fantastic views. Coffee stands and water stations near the elevators makes great sense. Valet parking is optional. This place doesn't treat you like they are corporate big shots. A hometown feel Will come back

Yelp
Words can not describe how BEAUTIFUL this place is. It's breathtaking and peaceful. The staff was amazing it was super clean from the rooms to the amenities I haven't seen one thing or place that I was disappointed in. My family and I will come back and enjoy this experience again Bc it was amazing!!

Marni M.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times for the restaurant that overlooks the water and have loved it each visit. The food is always flavorful and fresh. Service is impeccable and accommodating. The lobster chowder was incredibly tasty with a healthy portion of lobster included. The omelette was cooked to perfection with lots of vegetables and proteins to fill it along with seasoned types of potatoes (fingerlings, purple, etc.). Will come back for the view, service and especially food.

Yelp
It is a lovely property, not only because of its proximity to the ocean but also the decor and attention to detail in every nook and cranny. The staff is incredible, always willing to help and attentive enough to anticipate your needs throughout your stay. My partner and I especially love the beverage stations on every floor to accommodate guests needs for water (both still and sparkling on tap) and coffee/teas with all the accoutrements any time of day. Room service is quick and delicious, we ordered breakfast and dessert using the in room dining menus. In the evening on the weekends, there is live music in the lower lobby area which is lovely, not loud enough to impede on any conversations you may be having. The rooms are very nice, comfortable beds and bedding (so soft!) and the rooms are set up to encourage you to take in the breathtaking ocean views. There is also an empty mini fridge to store anything you might bring with your during your stay, for us it was wine and water bottles. This property is expansive but easy to walk to and from each restaurant, the cafe and the pool/hot tub area. Lots of fun things to discover here with so much beautiful, local art on a display. Overall, this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or to just have a beautiful getaway weekend. This was our second time staying and we will certainly be returning.

Yelp
Amazing modern upscale resort on the cliff of the Atlantic Ocean nestled between York and Kennebunk, Maine. Recently renovated, the Cliff House offers stunning rooms that overlook the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. I visited over New Years and decorations were still up for Christmas. Gorgeous! The tree is decorated with buoys. Perfect for this lobster loving area of Maine! Our room was impeccable. Sheets, comforter and pillows were so soft and cozy. I loved the robes they offered. They were definitely needed when venturing into the outside hot tub when the temperature was only 26 degrees! The causal dining spot, the Lobster Shack, was also cool. Lobster rolls looked great and jammed pack with lobster. The fancy Tiller room on level 3 was also fantastic. They make a small twist to old classics like lobster carbonara gnocchi. The Cliff House also seems great for kids. There's a theater room that shows movies and the discovery center offers different fun adventures throughout the week. We tried ice skating and the view over the ocean made it worth the risk of breaking my arm. I would love to go back in the warmer months: 3 pools, two hot tubs and a full scale spa offer a lot for me to enjoy. They book up fast though so make your reservations early.

Yelp
Beautiful views, well kept grounds and super friendly staff. One of the valets saw us wheeling our luggage to our car and first offered to carry it for us and then when we replied we like to walk he offered to drive a golf cart with us to our car. Restaurants were very good, particularly the breakfast. Like many places, the service was a little slow due to shortage of staff and a few items on the menu were not available. We also waited about 10-15 minutes at the bar for a drink as there were only 2 bartenders. Breakfast was a bit pricey and my 1.5 pound lobster for dinner one night was the most expensive lobster I had on an 8 day trip of Maine. Also, $5 coffee seems high. Rooms were nicely furnished but a bit small given the price tag. The pool area was ok, nothing special. Nice lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. Gym had two Peloton bikes. We stayed 3 full days and no available spa service when we checked in.

Yelp
We stayed at Cliffhouse as part of American Express fine hotels and resorts member program during our visit to Ease Coast. We were greeted kindly by staff and the usual list of amenities were explained to us. Hotel is nice and has been remodeled with addition of a new wing. Our suite had a balcony and ocean view & had been recently built and suited with all the modern amenities. Impressive and beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding areas made the room more appealing. I will be fair but firm about the dinning experience and staffing. The biggest design flaw in this beautiful resort is the lack of good food and dinning. They only have one restaurant with a very limited and "NOT SO GOOD" menu. To make thing worst, customer service from the staff at the Tiller restaurant is definitely NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS PLACE. It seems that they trained everyone at the hotel to be professional, courteous and nice to the guests but somehow they forgot to train the few waitresses at the restaurant. Rude, disrespectful, inconsiderate Latino Lady whom was NOT good at all and should have never been working at such a beautiful resort. I looked at the other review and most of the negative reviews were related to the food and beverage or dining experiences. the resort is beautiful but the food and dining is being mismanaged. I hope they correct the deficiencies in the area as I would like to come back and stay here again in the future.

Ashley H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places. It's absolutely the most beautiful location. However their customer service is terrible. I reached out to their staff and because of how poorly communication was, reached out to managers who never answered. Left so many messages with no call backs. I wanted to host an event there but due to that reason, have now since looked elsewhere. I then tried to contact their spa for months prior to our stay and never got a call back from them either. Thankfully I was able to figure things out for myself online, but got charged incorrectly after our visit and called to resolve - again, no answer and no call back. Still have been over charged. Just am looking to get a call back. Unlikely. But fingers crossed. Good luck if you run into any customer service issues.

Yelp
The Cliff House is a gorgeous hotel and a luxurious property. The management team has recently decided to take the hotel from being a family friendly resort to one that caters to adults only. Kids are not allowed in the main pool (yes, the one you see plastered all over their website) and are only allowed in a tiny backyard pool that has no amenities and an extremely limited view. It was so crowded that it was dangerous. Kids jumping off of the hot tub and reaching over the side of the infinity pool. Clearly wasn't designed with children in mind. At one point, a child got sick in the kid pool (threw up), so families migrated in to the main pool. The GM got so mad that she shut down the main pool claiming it needed to be shocked. It didn't. (I walked around with the maintenance team testing the water and all five spots tested well). Needless to say, I believe she was simply trying to punish everyone. Every family I spoke with was furious regarding the new "adult pool" policy. When I questioned the signage which states "for guest enjoyment, recommended for ages 13+" I was told (by the GM) that the rule is no one under 13 is allowed in the pool. She said she would amend the signs to avoid confusion. To make families feel better, the staff brought out a dirty bouncy house (on a 95 degree day). We were told we could also use the indoor pool. (Again, a 95 degree day). No regard for the kids or parents who were all miserable and wanted to enjoy the views. I spent an hour with the GM and three other parents. We asked her to compromise and open the main pool at 3:00 for everyone. She wouldn't budge. It is very evident that she is choosing to please those without children over those who have kids. I travel for a living and have never felt so unwelcome at a resort. Silly me for thinking the 4th of July was a good week for a family vacation. I would not bring your family here. There are much better options -- especially in this price range. This was not the 4th of July family vacation we had hoped for (and had expected since we loved our week here over the 4th last year). Stay away, unless you're traveling with our kids -- then, enjoy the amenities... you'll have them all to yourself.

Yelp
Love staying at Cliff House. It is always so relaxing. We stayed for the first time in November and actually scheduled our next trip back in December while we were still there - that tells you how much we loved it. Definitely recommend getting a room with a balcony facing the sea, it's so worth it. The facilities are always clean and we had an air filter in our room for greater protection from Covid. We will definitely be coming back a third time (and probably a forth and fifth...)
