This is a pleasant, clean 'boutique' hotel with comfortable rooms, plenty of parking and a very useful location on the coast road between the beach town of Lehinch (or Lahinch) and the famous and much-touristed Cliffs of Moher themselves. There's lots to do around the area so it's a good base for families or couples, as long as you have a car.||The USP of the hotel is probably the book-lined decor and photos and prints of Irish cultural icons. It's a cosy if slightly generic way to create atmosphere. The hotel is quite interestingly placed within Liscannor, opposite a much larger and now-derelict hotel, and next to three well-established local pub/restaurants that clearly are much more attractive to the locals than the relatively soulless hotel bar, even though you can hear traditional live music in both. It doesn't feel like it's the heart and soul of the village, but that doesn't really matter.||The main drawback of this hotel is the lack of catering - you have to go next door for food (two good options, so it's not a disaster), but more frustrating is the very desultory breakfast spread - a couple of pastry options, some bread for toasting and a few undistinguished cereals and yoghurts. Presumably they don't have a kitchen, but it's not really clear why they can't at least offer something a bit more interesting - and to be honest a few eggs can't be that hard to rustle up, either. It's also taken in the bar, which isn't the nicest vibe. There seemed to be a much larger dining space across the hallway, but that wasn't open when we were there.||Two final things - there aren't many options for sitting around if you don't want to be in the bar or your room, and also there is no aircon in the rooms.||Overall though this is a nice place, well run and worth staying, if you're not fussy about breakfast.
