"A heart-pounding ride that claims the longest mountain-coaster track in the USA, better saved for warmer months when it runs." - Mark Ellwood

Managed to get a last-minute ticket to the coaster. There was a bit of a wait so if you're buying tickets on site I would recommend getting there early. The ride itself was really cool. Much better than I thought it was going to be. All in all I think it lasted about 10 minutes.

Thrilling and Exhilarating Cliffside Coaster Ride – A Must-Do in Lake Placid! We recently visited Lake Placid, and riding the Cliffside Coaster was hands-down the highlight of our trip! The coaster mimics the bobsled course from the 1980 Olympics, making it a unique and thrilling experience. Even though I can be a little nervous about heights and speed, this ride wasn’t scary at all – it was exhilarating! The track is smooth, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. What made the experience even better was the commentator in our car, who provided fascinating details over the speaker as we zoomed along the course. If you’re looking for something fun, exciting, and informative to do in Lake Placid, I highly recommend the Cliffside Coaster. It’s an unforgettable experience that’s sure to be a highlight of your trip too!

Two-part review here first of all the experience itself. The ride is pretty cool. I loved getting the history of the bobsled races as you were going through the track. I felt like the ride was long enough and you went at a decent enough speed that it was exciting and enjoyable. My only beef is the idea of a reservation time. There are a limited amount of slots that you can reserve during an hour so you would assume that those would be the only people in line. That’s not true. We scheduled our visit for a 1 PM right on the coaster. When we got there, the lines gigantic. We waited exactly 1 hour and 40 minutes in line before reaching the bobsleds. It’s an awful long time to stand in line on the cement in the elements, particularly if you have older people or very young kids with you. We were not the only ones that were annoyed about the process as I heard several different groups of people complaining about how they had a reservation time in there only a limited amount of slots in that hour and yet there was more than double that in line still waiting because apparently you can just show up and just buy a ticket and get in line anyway.

Great place to hit on the way into town (Lake Placid). It's roughly 100$ for two people, although we were able to get a discount by booking online. We didn't have to verify our etickets in person, just walk up to the start point and they can scan them there. Friendly staff. The carts are single person and have individual speakers inside that give a historic rundown of the mountain and Olympic training facility which was pretty neat. The ride lasts only a few minutes but no regrets on the purchase. HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS!! Parking is pretty easy to navigate we parked at the end of Lot C and walked up to the starting location (stay to the right and go around the main building).

These things are always shorter than you want, but it was so fun! Love you can drive it yourself :) The hiking trails around though, at least where we were Sent were almost entirely unlabeled. For "easy" trails, they should at least have been easy to find which was not the case with the 2 maps and verbal instructions we got at the front desk.

amazing experience, it was my first time doing the coaster and it gave me a good experience to start with. the ticket for 1 was $55, and for the people who are health care or military gets 10$ off. the service is really good, the place is huge, there is a store inside if you want to buy stuff. there are usually time slots for the ride. the ride is 8-9 mins in total and they guide you through out the ride and it is pretty fun, plus there is the sledge route beside the ride which was used in Olympics. the ride gives out lots of details and fun commentary during the ride. must experience

So much fun! The coaster follows the old 1932 and 1980 course with a narrative of each turn. It's amazing to see the difference between the old track and new track. As you ride, There are handles to slow down but I recommend going full out speed and lean into the corners. Make it feel like you are a real bobsledder. The audio tour of the course was so helpful. When I visited LP in 2014, the old course was in the woods and seemed forgotten, like a relic. I'm so happy the coaster was built and has revitalized that course, a good tribute.

So much fun! Staff was friendly and helpful explaining the rules. Coaster ride was exhilarating, I love that you can control your own speed. The speakers give you a good history lesson on the way up. The wait in line took around 30min. The views are great on the way down. Overall highly recommend!
