Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway

INCREDIBLE SERVICE, INCREDIBLE GAME SIGHTINGS. THE FOOD HONESTLY WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. We loved everything about our stay and we dont think things get any better than what we experienced. We are from south africa so seeing wildlife is part of who we are and we were blown away, Mo was such a great guide never hesitated to give us information and to go over our game viewing time to show us something great. We had the wonderful opportunity to visit Clifftop for our Honeymoon. What a wonderful experience. From the moment you arrive at Clifftop you are met with exceptional staff who make you feel like royalty. The food was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal, the game viewing was comparable to none and the lodge and rooms are out of this world. I can honestly say that there is no way that any other more expensive lodges can keep up with the Clifftop team.

We had an incredible stay with Clifftop. Truly heartwarming staff who clearly all love what they do. Our ranger Janelle was an absolute delight. Always ready to respond to our every need and always put our safety first. We saw the most amazing views from the lodges terrace. Most animals were actually spotted around the lodge! Truly an immersive safari experience.

Amazing knowledgeable hosts and gracious cheerful staff and service. You become part of the “family”. Guide was fantastic. Food and lodging over the top. Game viewing was stellar - saw the Big Five and more. Great bush walk to see bushman paintings. Didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend!

Positive: Beautiful location. A big thank you to Patric and Nicolas for excellent service in the dining room. Enjoyed our game drives with JD, who was a very knowledgeable and friendly. Negative: Informed the lodge we would be twenty minutes late for pickup at the main gate and received a snide response from Gilda. Rooms and bathroom need a thorough spring clean. The room staff were not consistent in rotating or restocking the fridge or tea and coffee facilities, I found dead weevils in the sugar! I do not eat game meat or lamb and found the menu restricting as both were served most days. The flavors were sometimes overpowering spoiling the dish.

The most amazing trip of a lifetime! We travelled to South Africa in late June to this lovely safari hideaway. We booked with Biggest Leaf Travel and they were awesome to work with. I had found this lodge through a you tuber as it is not listed with British Airways or Virgin vacations. It was extra work to find it and to book the flights and lodge separately; but well worth it. From the moment we entered the Welgevonden Game Reserve it felt like South Africa was welcoming us! Our field guide was JD and I cannot say enough about his expertise on the animals and their behaviour- he seemed to always know where they would be and where they would travel to. Because of this and his great personality we had an amazing time. We still cannot believe that we saw the big 5 in just a day and a half. This is not common so we are aware of how privileged we were. The game drives were always an adventure and watching the sun come up with a coffee in hand standing on Fig Tree Plains is something we will always remember and treasure. As well the sundowners felt like something out of a dream. We were welcomed as well by Nicolas - butler, waiter, and now friend. He is a most wonderful professional warm person and made out trip even more special. As we were staying 6 nights the managers Steven and Gilda Mavromatis gave us #1 the honeymoon villa and it was beautiful! The bed was huge and super comfortable - and the heated blanket was great was we visited in winter. The food and wines were wonderful and we did leave heavier than when we arrived. They made my 60th birthday celebrations very special from lovely arrangements on the bed, to lovely decorated dinner tables and a cake - all of it is something I will always treasure. Steven did a star gazing talk one night after the game drive that was so wonderful - a very special memory. We left feeling like we had received so much more for the money we spent than we expected. It was an awesome experience and we 100% recommend this great lodge for relaxation, fine dining, great game drives and staff that become your friends.

We recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Clifftop, and it was an unforgettable experience. The property is impeccably well-kept, offering a serene and inviting atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, providing excellent service throughout our stay. The views were absolutely breathtaking, offering a perfect backdrop to relax and unwind. We also enjoyed the game drives, which were a highlight of the trip. The reserve is stunning, and the wildlife sightings were remarkable. The food was exceptional—each meal was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Overall, this was an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with top-notch service and unforgettable scenery.

This place in Welgonvendon Private game reserve was recommended by my travel agent. My friend and I had had just done 2 weeks cycling in the Drakensberg mountains and Kruger for 2 days and we wanted some luxury. We were not disappointed.. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like royalty. Attention to detail with cool lemongrass cloths when returning from game drives and everything you could possible want before you even know you want it! We had special menus done for us because we were vegan , with our own menus and the food was absolutely wonderful. The individual lodges are very private with plunge pools, outdoor showers and so tasteful dine inside....literally everything you could need is thought of .Cannot recommend the place the food and the staff enough. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Perfect for real romantics and foodies.
